In their meeting with Orlean and others, Mindy appears very apologetic about not publishing for a while; President Orlean and her son/chief-of-staff look down on him for teaching at a state university versus at a prestigious Ivy League school, and make fun of his field ("dead galaxy professor"). Meanwhile, the approaching comet becomes visible in the night sky, and Mindy joins Dibiasky and Oglethorpe's social media campaign to force the government to take serious action against the impending threat with the slogan "Just Look Up!" To divert attention from the scandal, Orlean publicly confirms the comet threat, mobilizes government resources, and includes Mindy in her team as the public face of the response efforts. Yet, when Mindy, Dibiasky and Oglethorpe are able to gather with Orlean and her son/chief of staff Jason (played by Jonah Hill) after a day long wait - Orlean and her staff are busy celebrating a birthday at the Oval Office - they are met with ridicule.
