Abstract

The article focuses on Funny or Die (FOD), a Web site devoted to Internet videos of comedy sketches founded in 2007 by comedian Will Farrell and his business partner Adam McKay. Employees of the site are depicted discussing scripts for videos or attempting to cast celebrities such as actress Charlize Theron in future videos. The evolution of the site, which Farrell and McKay created as a venue for amateur comedy videos, into a highly desirable venue for well-known actors, actresses and comedians is examined. The Web site is discussed as an example of the increasing importance of Internet videos in comedy as a part of the entertainment industry. INSET: LOL, 24/7..
