AIM: To analyze the strabismus surgery situation of adolescents and children in Yunnan province.METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on medical records data of 3 068 adolescents and children who received strabismus surgery at Affiliated Hospital of Yunnan University from January 2017 to December 2021. The analysis included gender, constituent ratio of age, distribution of strabismus types and combination with other ocular diseases, etc.RESULTS: Among the included patients, 52.12% were males, and 47.88% were females. Preschool patients(1 to 6 years old)accounted for 32.89%, primary pupils(7 to 12 years old)accounted for 45.89% and high school students(13 to 18 years old)accounted for 21.22%. Exotropia accounted for 63.17% of the total strabismus, of which intermittent exotropia was the most common type. Esotropia accounted for 19.69%, and concomitant esotropia was the most common type. The special type of strabismus accounted for 17.14%, and A-V syndrome and dissociative vertical deviation(DVD)were the most common types. Strabismus combined with ametropia accounted for 61.02% and amblyopia accounted for 10.89%. A few patients also combined with other eye diseases.CONCLUSION: In Yunnan province, intermittent exotropia was the most common type of strabismus among adolescents and children. Some patients combined with other ocular diseases.

Abstract Background Diabetic kidney disease (DKD) is among the most important causes for chronic kidney disease. Anthocyanins (ANT) are polyphenolic compounds present in various food and play an important role in ameliorating hyperglycemia and insulin sensitivity. However, the effects of ANT in DKD are still poorly understood. This study aimed to investigate the effect of ANT (cyanidin-3-O-glucoside [C3G]) on the renal function of DKD, and whether the anti-DKD effect of ANT is related to metabolic pathways. Methods To explore the role of ANT in DKD, we performed the examination of blood glucose, renal function, and histopathology. As for the mechanism, we designed the label-free quantification proteomics and nontargeted metabolomics analysis for kidney and serum. Subsequently, we revealed the anti-DKD effect of ANT through the bioinformatic analysis. Results We showed that the fasting blood glucose level (− 6.1 mmol/L, P = 0.037), perimeter of glomerular lesions (− 24.1 μm, P = 0.030), fibrosis score of glomerular (− 8.8%, P = 0.002), and kidney function (Cystatin C: − 701.4 pg/mL, P = 0.043; urine creatinine: − 701.4 mmol/L, P = 0.032) were significantly alleviated in DKD mice after ANT treatment compared to untreated in the 20th week. Further, proteins and metabolites in the kidneys of DKD mice were observed to be dramatically altered due to changes in amino acid metabolism with ANT treatment; mainly, taurine and hypotaurine metabolism pathway was upregulated (P = 0.0001, t value = 5.97). Mechanisms controlling phosphorus (P) availability and the roles of microorganisms in the efficient utilization of soil P in the wheat–maize double cropping system are poorly understood. In the present study, we conducted a pot experiment for four consecutive wheat–maize seasons (2016–2018) using calcareous soils with high (30.36 mg kg−1) and low (9.78 mg kg−1) initial Olsen-P content to evaluate the effects of conventional P fertilizer application to both wheat and maize (Pwm) along with a reduced P fertilizer application only to wheat (Pw). The microbial community structure along with soil P availability parameters and crop yield were determined. The results showed that the Pw treatment reduces the annual P input by 33.3% without affecting the total yield for at least two consecutive years as compared with the Pwm treatment in the high Olsen-P soil. Soil water-soluble P concentrations in the Pw treatment were similar to those in the Pwm treatment at the 12-leaf collar stage when maize requires the most P. Furthermore, the soil P content significantly affected soil microbial communities, especially fungal communities. Meanwhile, the relative abundances of Proteobacteria and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity of Pw were significantly higher (by 11.4 and 13.3%) than those of Pwm in soil with high Olsen-P. The microfloral contribution to yield was greater than that of soil P content in soil with high Olsen-P. Relative abundances of Bacillus and Rhizobium were enriched in the Pw treatment compared with the Pwm treatment. Bacillus showed a significant positive correlation with acid phosphatase (ACP) activity, and Rhizobium displayed significant positive correlations with ACP and ALP in soil with high Olsen-P, which may enhance P availability. Our findings suggested that the application of P fertilization only to wheat is practical in high P soils to ensure optimal production in the wheat and maize double cropping system and that the soil P availability and microbial community may collaborate to maintain optimal yield in a wheat–maize double cropping system.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the emotion regulation effect of Baduanjin Qigong on college students. Methods: The late positive potential (LPP) components were recorded while performing emotional pictures from 12 college students with Baduanjin Qigong experience and 12 with no experience of any mind–body exercises. Results: Under positive emotional stimuli, greater LPP amplitudes were observed in the experimental group in the frontal, central, and temporal areas than in the control group. Under negative emotional stimuli, greater LPP amplitudes were found in the experimental group in the prefrontal area and smaller amplitudes in the occipital area than in the control group. Conclusion: The results reveal the emotion regulation effect on the event-related potential of Baduanjin Qigong to college students. The findings suggest that the regulatory effect of Baduanjin Qigong on emotional stimulation may be a possible reason for reducing the symptoms of depression and anxiety.

Abstract Although many groups have been trying to prepare perovskite solar cells (PSCs) in ambient air, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) is still low. Besides, the effect of moisture on the formation of perovskite films is still controversial. In this paper, we studied the effect of moisture on the formation of perovskite films in detail, and found that moisture can speed up the crystallizing process of PbI2 films to form poor-quality films with large grain size and surface roughness, while, for the conversion of PbI2 to perovskite films, a small amount of moisture is not adverse, and even beneficial. On this basis, we report the successful fabrication of efficient mesoporous PSCs with PCE of 16.00% under ambient air conditions at 25% relative humidity by adding a small amount of n-butyl amine into the solution of PbI2 to enhance the quality of PbI2 films and thus to achieve high-quality perovskite films with smooth surface, large crystal grains, and high crystal quality.

Real-time vehicle classification is an important issue in intelligent transport systems. In this paper, we propose a novel model to classify five distinct groups of vehicle images from actual life based on AdaBoost algorithm and deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs). The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed model attains the highest classification accuracy of 99.50% on the test data set, while it takes only 28 ms to identify a vehicle image. This performance significantly outperforms the traditional algorithms, such as SIFT-SVM, HOG-SVM, and SURF-SVM. Moreover, the proposed deep CNN-based feature extractor has less parameters, thereby occupies much smaller storage resources as compared with the state-of-the-art CNN models. The high prediction accuracy and low storage cost confirm the effectiveness of our proposed model for vehicle classification in real time.

Abstract Controllable synthesis of various ZnO nanocrystals was achieved via a simple and cost-effective hydrothermal process. The morphology evolution of the ZnO nanostructures was well monitored by tuning hydrothermal growth parameters, such as solution concentration, reaction temperature, and surfactant. As-obtained ZnO nanocrystals with different morphologies, e.g., ZnO nanorods, nanotetrapods, nanoflowers, and nanocubes, were further introduced into the organic bulk heterojunction solar cells as the electron transport channel. It was found that the device performance was closely related to the morphology of the ZnO nanocrystals.

In the title complex, [Cd(C8H9N2O4)2(H2O)2]·3.5H2O, the CdII is coordinated by two water molecules and N,O-chelated by two 5-carboxy-2-propyl-1H-imidazole-4-carboxylate anions in a distorted octahedral geometry. The two imidazole rings are oriented to each other with a dihedral angle of 75.1 (2)°. Strong O—H...O hydrogen bonds between protonated and deprotonated carboxylate groups occur in the molecular structure. In the crystal structure extensive O—H...O and N—H...O hydrogen bonds help to stabilize the three-dimensional supramolecular framework. The propyl groups of anions are disordered over two sites with refined occupancies of 0.768 (6):0.232 (6) and 0.642 (8):0.358 (8).

The thermal degradation of gracilaria in nitrogen was studied by thermogravimetry analysis (TG). The results indicate that the degradation of gracilaria in nitrogen is one-step reaction, and the degradation temperatures increase with heating rates (B). Experimentally, the initial degradation temperature (T0) is 0.928B+211.1, the temperature at the maximum degradation rate (Tp) is 0.958B+271.8 and the final degradation temperature (Tf ) is 0.693B+360.8. Cp and Cf, the degradation rates at Tp and Tf, are not affected by B, and their average values are (30.27 ± 3.65)% and (52.0 ± 3.67)%, respectively. The peak height on a differential thermogravimetry (DTG) curve (Rp), increases with B, Rp=0.440B-0.520. The peak width on DTG curve (Tf-T0) decreases with B, Tf - T0 = -0.235B+149.7. The reaction activation energy (E) and frequency factor (A) vary with the increasing of degree of decomposition. The values of E and A increase obviously during the initial stage of the reaction, then keep relatively steady, and decrease during the last stage. In this paper, ordered arrays of various ZnO nanostructures were fabricated on both Si and p-GaN substrates via a hydrothermal process by the self-assembled nanosphere lithography (NSL). The morphology and orientation evolution of ZnO nanostructures were well-monitored by varying seed-layer-thickness, solution concentration, and underlying substrate. On this basis, the heterojunction light emitting diode (LED) based on the highly oriented ZnO nanocone array on the p-GaN substrate was fabricated and studied in detail. It is found that the ZnO nanostructure-based LED exhibits a much stronger ultraviolet (UV) emission peaked at 388 nm compared with its counterparts based on ZnO film, which is attributed to the low density of interfacial defects, improved carrier injection efficiency through the nano-sized junction, and excellent waveguiding property of the ZnO nanostructure array.
