Aim Materials and Methods Results Conclusions To study the association between femoral neck (FN) bone mineral density (BMD) T‐score and fracture risk in individuals with and without type 2 diabetes (T2D).We performed a single‐centre retrospective cohort study using the Danish National Health Service. BMD of the FN was measured by dual‐energy X‐ray absorptiometry. Cox proportional hazards regression models were used to study the association between FN BMD T‐score and fractures in individuals with and without T2D separately, adjusted for age, comorbidities and comedication. The results from this analysis were used to estimate the 10‐year absolute fracture risk.In total, there were 35,129 women (2362 with T2D) and 7069 men (758 with T2D).The FN BMD T‐score was significantly associated with risk of any, hip and major osteoporotic fracture in men and women with [adjusted hazard risk ratios (aHR) women, hip: 1.57; 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.24–2.00, incidence rate (IR) 8.7; aHR men, hip: 1.55; 95% CI 1.01–2.36, IR 4.6] and without T2D (aHR women, hip: 1.75; 95% CI 1.64–1.87, IR 7.0; aHR men, hip: 1.97, 95% CI 1.73–2.25, IR 6.3), and its ability to predict fracture risk was similar. Fracture IRs were not significantly different for individuals with or without T2D, nor was the estimated cumulative 10‐year fracture risk.The FN BMD T‐score was significantly associated with hip, non‐spine and major osteoporotic fracture risk in men and women with and without T2D. Introduction: In recent years, the number of general practices contributing to the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) database GOLD is decreasing. Therefore, for research questions addressing for instance novel treatments requiring up‐to‐date data, sample size will become an important consideration in study feasibility. In recent years, CPRD Aurum, containing information of practices that use EMIS software, has become an additional data source that is being used for CPRD studies. In order to establish whether Aurum is suited to act as data source for future studies in the field of lung cancer research, we aimed to compare characteristics between patients with lung cancer in Aurum and GOLD. Methods: A retrospective study was performed comparing characteristics and overall survival (OS) of patients with lung cancer in Aurum and GOLD. To further evaluate similarity, hypothetical eligibility of these patients in Aurum and GOLD was compared for 11 randomized clinical trials (RCTs). Results: Baseline characteristics registered in Aurum and GOLD were largely similar, with some clinically irrelevant differences for previous malignancies, deviant laboratory values and drug use. Median OS was 9.8 and 9.0 months for patients in Aurum and GOLD, respectively. Potential RCT eligibility varied between 49.4% and 79.5% and 49.1% and 78.1% for patients in Aurum and GOLD, respectively. Mortality rates and the comparison of the obtained HRs per hypothetical eligibility cohort per RCT were similar in Aurum and GOLD. Conclusion: This study showed that data of patients with lung cancer in Aurum and GOLD are largely comparable, suggesting that Aurum is suitable for future epidemiological lung cancer research. The main aim was to investigate whether forensic psychiatric inpatients can be distinguished from prisoners and non-offender healthy controls based on their performance on neurocognitive tasks measuring behavioral inhibition and behavioral activation. This study used preexisting data from 120 male forensic psychiatric inpatients, 60 male prisoners and 66 male non-offender healthy controls. A multinomial logistic regression analysis was used to study the links between our outcome measures and group membership. To this end, we used outcome measures from a Continuous Performance task, an emotional Stroop task and behavioral inhibition system and behavioral activation system (BIS/BAS) questionnaire. BIS/BAS scores had discriminatory power for distinguishing forensic psychiatric inpatients from prisoners. Measures from the Continuous Performance task and the emotional Stroop task did not significantly differ between the offender groups. BIS/BAS are relevant concepts in the context of criminal behavior and could play a role in the development of new approaches to subtype offender populations, because they seem useful for differentiating forensic psychiatric inpatients from prisoners. For clinical practice, our results suggest that these concepts should be routinely assessed as part of neuropsychological testing in forensic psychiatric settings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB) is a specific morbidity of childhood asthma and an important sign of uncontrolled asthma. The occurrence of EIB is insufficiently identified by the Childhood Asthma Control Test (C-ACT) and Asthma Control Test (ACT). This study aimed to (1) evaluate the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) for dyspnea as a tool to detect EIB in asthmatic children and (2) assess the value of combining (C-)ACT outcomes with VAS scores. Methods: We measured EIB in 75 asthmatic children (mean age 10.8 years) with a standardized exercise challenge test (ECT) performed in cold and dry air. Children and parents reported VAS dyspnea scores before and after the ECT. Asthma control was assessed by the (C-)ACT. Results: Changes in VAS scores (ΔVAS) of children and parents correlated moderately with fall in forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1), respectively rs=0.57 (p <.001) and rs=0.58 (p <.001). At a ΔVAS cutoff value of ≥3 in children, sensitivity and specificity for EIB were 80% and 79% (AUC 0.82). Out of 38 children diagnosed with EIB, 37 had a (C-)ACT score of ≤19 and/or a ΔVAS of ≥3, corresponding with a sensitivity of 97% and a negative predictive value of 96%. Conclusion: This study shows that the VAS could be an effective additional tool for diagnosing EIB in children. A reported difference in VAS scores of ≥3 after a standardized ECT combined with low (C-)ACT scores was highly effective in detecting and excluding EIB. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
