High temperature superconducting (HTS) synchronous condenser is a novel large-capacity reactive power compensation device. Its reactive power compensation capacity and accuracy are mainly determined by the excitation system, making the excitation power supply a crucial part of the HTS synchronous condenser system. This paper presents a dual power supply excitation system for HTS synchronous condenser. The principle and control strategy of its topology are introduced, and simulation analysis is carried out. The interleaved parallel control strategy of the excitation system based on the state-space averaging method is investigated, and superconducting experiments on low-voltage power supply are conducted. Experimental results show that this control strategy can significantly reduce the exciting current ripple. For example, the current ripple is reduced to about 0.008%. When the HTS synchronous condenser operates in constant excitation mode and forced excitation mode respectively, the required voltage and current for the excitation winding differ in magnitude and accuracy. The proposed excitation system not only solves this problem but also improves the power supply utilization rate. It provides stable and high-precision excitation current, enabling the HTS synchronous condenser to accurately compensate reactive power and enhance the stability of the power grid.

Temperature superconducting (HTS) synchronous condenser is a reactive power compensation device with the advantages of low loss, high efficiency and wide reactive power range. Therefore, it has a very good application prospect in power grid. To solve the problems of low power factor and low conduction angle of constant excitation function for a long time due to single power supply excitation system, this paper proposes a high-low voltage switching excitation system, which separates the forced excitation and constant excitation modes of the excitation system into two power supplies. Based on the introduction of principle of excitation system, the design of its parameters and simulation analysis are completed, and a set of 400kW device is designed. On this basis, a series of corresponding superconducting experiment are carried out. The experimental results verify the principle of the power supply topology, and also show the feasibility and reliability of the proposed excitation system.

With the continuous expansion of the scale of power generated by grid-connected renewable energy, the form and operation characteristics of power grids have undergone significant changes, and the power electronic characteristics of power systems are prominent, resulting in the frequent occurrence of wide-band oscillation problems when renewable energy power generation equipment is connected to a power grid. Oscillation has the characteristics of nonlinearity and has an oscillation frequency ranging from a few hertz to several thousand hertz or more, which seriously threatens the stable operation of power grids. This paper summarizes the wide-band oscillation events that occur worldwide under the background of renewable energy access to power grids, classifies the wide-band oscillation events according to the distribution of oscillation frequency bands, and sorts out the characteristics of various oscillations. From the perspectives of the source side and network side, the existing oscillation suppression measures are classified and prospected.

With the increase in capacitor voltage transformer (CVT) operation life, CVT impedance changes, and the short-time switching of overhead lines, it is very easy to cause a transient oscillation accident in which a CVT participates, reduce the insulation level of a CVT, and even induce regional power grid oscillation and easily cause capacitor breakdown, after long-term operation with defects. In this paper, the whole power network, including the generator, power grid, and consumer, is modeled, and the theoretical model of the CVT ferro-resonance connected grid is built. The frequency spectrum analysis, and the measurements of resonance bus voltage and line voltage, were carried out to find the design method of a fast saturation damper (FSD) and its voltage–current characteristics that affect the vibration, based on theory and practice; this paper puts forward effective measures to reduce the resonance effect of a CVT in operation, and avoid the oscillation of the line and even the regional power grid system.

Ecological engineering can significantly improve ecosystem carbon sequestration. However, few studies have projected the carbon sink trends in regions where ecological engineering projects overlap and have not considered the different climate change conditions and land use scenarios. Using the ensemble empirical mode decomposition method and machine learning algorithms (enhanced boosted regression trees), the aims of this study to elucidate the stability of carbon sinks and their driving mechanisms in areas where ecological projects overlap and to predict the potential enhancement in carbon sinks under varying climate and human activity scenarios. The findings revealed that: (1) The carbon sinks clearly and steadily increased in regions where five ecological projects were implemented from 1982 to 2019. In contrast, the carbon sinks did not significantly increase in regions with two or three ecological projects. (2) As the number of ecological projects increased, the impact of human activities on the carbon sinks gradually decreased. In eastern China, rapid economic development and significant interference from human activities hindered the growth of carbon sinks. In contrast, in western China, the warming and humidification trend of the climate, large-scale afforestation, and other ecological projects have significantly improved carbon sinks. (3) The regions with five overlapping ecological projects exhibited the greatest enhancement and stability of carbon sinks under different scenarios. Compared with the SSP585 scenario, under the SSP126 scenario, the carbon sinks increased, and their stability was greater. Achieving carbon neutrality requires major ecological projects to account for the limitations imposed by climatic conditions. Instead of isolated projects or the implementation of single restoration measures, a comprehensive approach that uses the synergistic effects of combined ecological strategies is recommended.

Identifying the stability and sensitivity of land ecosystems to climate change is vital for exploring nature-based solutions. However, the underlying mechanisms governing ecosystem stability and sensitivity, especially in regions with overlapping ecological projects, remain unclear. based on Mann-Kendall, stability analysis method, and multiple regression method, this study quantified the stability and sensitivity of gross primary productivity (GPP) to climate variables [temperature, vapor pressure deficit (VPD), soil moisture, and radiation] in China from 1982 to 2019. Our findings revealed the following: (1) GPP demonstrated an increased trend with lower stability in Eastern regions, whereas a decreasing trend with higher stability was observed in Western and Southwest China. Notably, the stability of GPP was highest (74.58%) in areas with five overlapping ecological projects: Grain to Green, Natural Forest Resource Protection Project, Three-River Ecological Conservation and Restoration Project, Return Grazing to Grassland Project, and Three-North Shelter Forestation Project. (2) In regions with minimal or no overlapping ecological projects, temperature and radiation jointly dominated GPP variations. In contrast, water-related factors (VPD and soil moisture) significantly affected GPP in areas with multiple overlapping ecological projects. (3) In the southwestern and northeastern regions, GPP exhibited the highest sensitivity to climate change, whereas, in the eastern coastal areas and Tibet, GPP showed low sensitivity to climate change. In the Loess Plateau, where five ecological projects overlap extensively, carbon sinks primarily demonstrate a monotonic increasing trend, high stability, and low sensitivity to climate change. This study aimed to assess the stability of the land ecosystems and delineate their sensitivity to climate changes, thereby laying the groundwork for understanding ecosystem resilience.

Neuropathic pain (NeP) is a condition charactesized by nervous system injury or dysfunction that affects a significant portion of the population. Current treatments are ineffective, highlighting the need for novel therapeutic approaches. Mahuang Fuzi Xixin decoction (MFXD) has shown promise for treating pain conditions in clinical practice; however, its potential against NeP and the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study identified 35 compounds in MFXD using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled with high-resolution mass spectrometry (UHPLC-HRMS). The analgesic effects of MFXD on chronic constriction injury (CCI) rats were evaluated through the detection of mechanical withdrawal threshold (MWT) and thermal withdrawal latency (TWL). The analgesic effects of MFXD in rats with chronic constriction injury (CCI) were evaluated by measuring the mechanical withdrawal threshold (MWT) and thermal withdrawal latency (TWL). Low-dose MFXD (L-MFXD) group (4.8 g/kg) and high-dose MFXD (H-MFXD) group (9.6 g/kg) exhibited significantly higher MWT and TWL values than the CCI group on days 11 and 15 post-CCI surgery, substantiating the remarkable analgesic efficacy of MFXD. Network pharmacology analysis identified 58 key targets enriched in pathways such as long-term potentiation (LTP) and glutamatergic synapse. The MCODE algorithm further identified core targets with significant enrichment in LTP. Molecular docking revealed that mesaconitine, rosmarinic acid, and delgrandine from MFXD exhibited high binding affinity with NMDAR2B (−11 kcal/mol), CaMKIIα (−14.3 kcal/mol), and ERK (−10.8 kcal/mol). Western blot and immunofluorescence confirmed that H-MFXD significantly suppressed the phosphorylation levels of NMDAR2B, CaMKIIα, ERK, and CREB in the spinal cord tissue of CCI rats. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that MFXD possesses potent analgesic effects on NeP by suppressing the NMDAR2B/CaMKIIα/ERK/CREB signalling pathway. This study unlocks a path toward potentially revolutionising NeP treatment with MFXD, encouraging further research and clinical development.

In software engineering, deep learning models are increasingly deployed for critical tasks such as bug detection and code review. However, overfitting remains a challenge that affects the quality, reliability, and trustworthiness of software systems that utilize deep learning models. Overfitting can be (1) prevented (e.g., using dropout or early stopping) or (2) detected in a trained model (e.g., using correlation-based approaches). Both overfitting detection and prevention approaches that are currently used have constraints (e.g., requiring modification of the model structure, and high computing resources). In this paper, we propose a simple, yet powerful approach that can both detect and prevent overfitting based on the training history (i.e., validation losses). Our approach first trains a time series classifier on training histories of overfit models. This classifier is then used to detect if a trained model is overfit. In addition, our trained classifier can be used to prevent overfitting by identifying the optimal point to stop a model’s training. We evaluate our approach on its ability to identify and prevent overfitting in real-world samples. We compare our approach against correlation-based detection approaches and the most commonly used prevention approach (i.e., early stopping). Our approach achieves an F1 score of 0.91 which is at least 5% higher than the current best-performing non-intrusive overfitting detection approach. Furthermore, our approach can stop training to avoid overfitting at least 32% of the times earlier than early stopping and has the same or a better rate of returning the best model.

Objective: The advancement of neuroimaging and genetic research has revealed the presence of morphological abnormalities and numerous risk genes, along with their associations. We aimed to estimate magnetic resonance imaging-derived cortical thickness across multiple brain regions. Methods: The cortical thickness of 129 schizophrenia patients, 42 of their unaffected siblings, and 112 healthy controls was measured and the candidate genes were sequenced. Comparisons were made of cortical thickness (including 68 regions of the Desikan-Killiany Atlas) and genetic variants (in 108 risk genes for schizophrenia) among the three groups, and correlation analyses were performed regarding cortical thickness, clinical symptoms, cognitive tests (such as the N-back task and the logical memory test), and genetic variants. Results: Schizophrenia patients had significantly thinner bilateral frontal, temporal, and parietal gyri than healthy controls and unaffected siblings. Association analyses in target genes showed that four single nucleotide variants (SNVs) were significantly associated with schizophrenia, including thioredoxin-related transmembrane protein 2-catenin, cadherin-associated protein, delta 1 (SNV20673) (positive false discovery rate [PFDR] = 0.008) and centromere protein M (rs35542507, rs41277477, rs73165153) (PFDR = 0.030). Additionally, cortical thickness in the right pars triangularis was lower in carriers of the SNV20673 variant than in non-carriers (PFDR = 0.048). Finally, a positive correlation was found between right pars triangularis cortical thickness and logical memory in schizophrenia patients (r = 0.199, p = 0.032). Conclusions: This study identified regional morphological abnormalities in schizophrenia, including the right homologue of Broca’s area, which was associated with a risk variant that affected delta-1 catenin and logical memory. These findings suggest a potential association between candidate gene loci, cortical thickness, and schizophrenia.

Summary: Background: Exclusive enteral nutrition (EEN) is an important alternative strategy for patients with Crohn’s disease (CD), and during this process, microbiota alterations have been observed. However, the underlying mechanisms by which EEN reduces intestinal inflammation are currently unclear. Methods: The therapeutic potential of enteral nutrition (EN) was assessed using various mouse models. Fecal full-length 16S rDNA sequencing analysis and several CD metagenome datasets were used to identify the candidate therapeutic bacteria Faecalibaculum rodentium (F. rodentium). Whole genome sequencing of F. rodentium and widely-targeted metabolome analysis of the supernatant showed that EN-induced F. rodentium accumulation protected against colitis via histidine biosynthesis. Findings: The therapeutic potential of EN therapy was observed in both dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis and Il10−/− spontaneous colitis mouse models. Accumulation of F. rodentium after EN therapy was determined using full-length 16S rDNA sequencing and verified with several metagenome datasets from patients with CD. Colonization of an isolated F. rodentium could reduce colitis in Il10−/− mice. Significant histidine enrichment was observed in the F. rodentium culture supernatant, and a series of histidine biosynthesis genes were observed in the F. rodentium genome. Engineered Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 (EcN), encoding the heterologous hisG of F. rodentium (EcN-hisG), which was a key driver of histidine biosynthesis in F. rodentium, was found to protect against colitis. Interpretation: This study suggests that EN-induced F. rodentium accumulation protects against colitis in mice via gut bacteria-mediated histidine biosynthesis. How have plants addressed the trade-off between carbon gain and water loss in this warming world? Ecosystem water-use efficiency (WUE), defined as the ratio of gross primary productivity (GPP) to evapotranspiration (ET), is a key indicator of the carbon–water relationship. WUE is expected to change due to climate change, yet the extent to which GPP or ET affects WUE changes remains unclear. Moreover, the potential time-varying variations in the WUE responses to recent warming have been overlooked. In this study, we assessed the relative contributions of GPP and ET to WUE using variance decomposition and investigated trends in temperature controls on WUE using moving windows and partial correlation analysis. Our results include: (1) the national multi-year average WUE in China increased significantly at a rate of 0.0174 gC·kg-1H2O·a-1, with 86.88% of the study area exhibiting increased trends. Forest ecosystems, except for ENF, had relatively higher WUE, and the highest value was observed in the deciduous broad-leaf forest (3.77 gC·kg-1H2O), while grassland ecosystems had the lowest WUE of only 1.05 gC·kg-1H2O. (2) GPP, rather than ET, primary drove WUE variations in most areas, except in Northeast China and Southwest China. GPP always contributed more to WUE than ET in each land cover type. In forests, ET contributed more to WUE than in other land cover types. The stable molecule was characterized in a low-polarity solution by IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR, and in the solid state as a co-crystal with water by X-Ray diffraction. The N-oxide function made a strong intramolecular 7-membered ring hydrogen bond with the methyl amide NH in solution and formed an intermolecular H-bond with the carbamate NH in a neighboring molecule in the solid state.

Southwest China (SWC) holds the distinction of being the world’s largest rock desertification area. Nevertheless, the impacts of climate change and ecological restoration projects on the carbon sinks in the karst area of Southwest China have not been systematically evaluated. In this study, we calculated carbon sinks by utilizing the Carnegie–Ames–Stanford Approach (CASA) model, and the actual measurements, including the net primary productivity (NPP) data and soil respiration (Rs,) were calculated to obtain carbon sink data. Our findings suggest that the carbon sinks in the karst areas are displaying increasing trends or positive reversals, accounting for 58.47% of the area, which is larger than the overall average of 45.08% for Southwest China. This suggests that the karst areas have a greater carbon sequestration potential. However, approximately 10.42% of carbon sinks experience negative reversals. The regions with increasing and positive reversals are primarily located in the western parts of Guizhou and Guangxi, while negative reversals are observed in the eastern parts of Chongqing, Guangxi, and Guizhou. Ecological restoration projects are the main driving factors for the carbon sinks with increasing trends. Increased humidity and ecological restoration management are the main reasons for the positive reversals of carbon sinks. However, warming and drought shift the carbon sinks from increasing to decreasing in Chongqing, east of Guangxi and Guizhou. The findings of this study highlight the significant role of ecological restoration projects and reexamine the impact of climate change on carbon sequestration.

Background Circular RNAs (circRNAs) are critical regulators for the development of many tumours, including diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). However, the role and mechanism of circ_0003645 in DLBCL progression remains obscure. Methods Quantitative real-time PCR was performed to measure the expression of circ_0003645, microRNA (miR)-335-5p and nuclear factor I/B (NFIB). Cell viability, apoptosis and cell cycle were measured by cell counting kit 8 assay and flow cytometry. Protein expression was assessed using western blot analysis, and cell glycolysis was evaluated by detecting glucose consumption and ATP/ADP ratios. Besides, dual-luciferase reporter assay and RIP assay were used to confirm RNA interaction. Results Our data showed that circ_0003645 expression was significantly upregulated in DLBCL tumour tissues. After circ_0003645 knockdown, the viability, cell cycle and glycolysis of DLBCL cells were inhibited, while cell apoptosis was promoted. MiR-335-5p could be sponged by circ_0003645, and NFIB was confirmed to be a downstream target of miR-335-5p. Function analysis revealed that anti-miR-335-5p reversed the regulation of si-circ_0003645 on DLBCL cell progression, and NFIB overexpression also abolished miR-335-5p-mediated the biological functions of DLBCL cells. Conclusion The present study revealed that circ_0003645 promoted the proliferation and glycolysis of DLBCL cells by the miR-335-5p/NFIB axis, which might provide a novel insight for DLBCL treatment.

Abstract A systematic study was carried out for strain-induced microscale compositional pulling effect on the structural and optical properties of high Al content AlGaN multiple quantum wells (MQWs). Investigations reveal that a large tensile strain is introduced during the epitaxial growth of AlGaN MQWs, due to the grain boundary formation, coalescence and growth. The presence of this tensile strain results in the microscale inhomogeneous compositional pulling and Ga segregation, which is further confirmed by the lower formation enthalpy of Ga atom than Al atom on AlGaN slab using first principle simulations. The strain-induced microscale compositional pulling leads to an asymmetrical feature of emission spectra and local variation in emission energy of AlGaN MQWs. Because of a stronger three-dimensional carrier localization, the area of Ga segregation shows a higher emission efficiency compared with the intrinsic area of MQWs, which is benefit for fabricating efficient AlGaN-based deep-ultraviolet light-emitting diode.

IntroductionThis study aimed to investigate the possible associations between problematic smartphone use and brain functions in terms of both static and dynamic functional connectivity patterns.Materials and methodsResting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging data were scanned from 53 young healthy adults, all of whom completed the Short Version of the Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS-SV) to assess their problematic smartphone use severity. Both static and dynamic functional brain network measures were evaluated for each participant. The brain network measures were correlated the SAS-SV scores, and compared between participants with and without a problematic smartphone use after adjusting for sex, age, education, and head motion.ResultsTwo participants were excluded because of excessive head motion, and 56.9% (29/51) of the final analyzed participants were found to have a problematic smartphone use (SAS-SV scores ≥ 31 for males and ≥ 33 for females, as proposed in prior research). At the global network level, the SAS-SV score was found to be significantly positively correlated with the global efficiency and local efficiency of static brain networks, and negatively correlated with the temporal variability using the dynamic brain network model. Large-scale subnetwork analyses indicated that a higher SAS-SV score was significantly associated with higher strengths of static functional connectivity within the frontoparietal and cinguloopercular subnetworks, as well as a lower temporal variability of dynamic functional connectivity patterns within the attention subnetwork. However, no significant differences were found when directly comparing between the groups of participants with and without a problematic smartphone use.ConclusionOur results suggested that problematic smartphone use is associated with differences in both the static and dynamic brain network organizations in young adults. These findings may help to identify at-risk population for smartphone addiction and guide targeted interventions for further research. Nevertheless, it might be necessary to confirm our findings in a larger sample, and to investigate if a more applicable SAS-SV cutoff point is required for defining problematic smartphone use in young Chinese adults nowadays.

The filtering performance of series hybrid active power filter (SHAPF) based on fundamental magnetic flux compensation positively correlates with the magnetising impedance of the transformer. However, excessive magnetising impedance will decrease reliability while increasing capacity and costs of the whole system. In order to reduce the magnetising impedance while ensuring the same filtering performance of SHAPF, an improved series active power filter (ISAPF) with fundamental and harmonics magnetic flux hybrid control is presented here. The equivalent impedances to fundamental and harmonics in ISAPF are firstly analysed to explain the principle of 'harmonic isolation'. Then the range of compensation coefficients is investigated in detail based on the complete control block diagram and the open-loop function of ISAPF. Moreover, stability conditions of an overall system with non-linear loads are deduced. Finally, a set of single-phase prototype with two kinds of special transformer has been constructed; the related experiments results showed that ISAPF can ensure the filtering performance while applying a transformer with smaller capacity, thus resulting in the reduction in capacity and the costs while increasing the reliability. Hydrogen bonds (H-bonds) are ubiquitous in peptides and proteins and are central to the stabilization of their structures. Inter-residue H-bonds between non-adjacent backbone amide NH and C=O motifs lead to the well-known secondary structures of helices, turns and sheets, but it is recognized that other H-bonding modes may be significant, including the weak intra-residue H-bond (called a C5 H-bond) that implicates the NH and C=O motifs of the same amino acid residue. Peptide model compounds that adopt stable C5 H-bonds are not readily available and the so-called 2.05-helix, formed by successive C5 H-bonds, is an elusive secondary structure. Using a combination of theoretical chemistry and spectroscopic studies in both the gas phase and solution phase, we have demonstrated that derivatives of 3-amino-1-methylazetidine-3-carboxylic acid, Aatc(Me) can form sidechain–backbone N–H···N C6γ H-bonds that accompany—and thereby stabilize—C5 H-bonds. In the capped trimer of Aatc(Me), extended C5/C6γ motifs are sufficiently robust to challenge classical 310-helix formation in solution and the fully-extended 2.05-helix conformer has been characterized in the gas phase. Concurrent H-bonding support for successive C5 motifs is a new axiom for stabilizing the extended backbone secondary structure in short peptides.

The variable impedance can be applied in many fields of power system. A novel four-quadrant variable impedance based on voltage-sourced inverter control is proposed in the study. The schematic diagram of the novel variable impedance is presented, and its principle and transient characteristic are addressed. The system stability of the variable impedance when it is connected in series with a resistive and inductive load is described. Based on the developed variable impedance, a novel shunt power quality controller (SPQC) is proposed. In the SPQC, the fundamental equivalent impedance of the primary winding is a variable impedance, which can be used to compensate the fundamental reactive power. The equivalent impedance of the primary winding for nth order harmonics is short-circuit impedance, which is very low impedance and the harmonics produced by loads will be short-circuited in primary winding. The control strategy is also analysed. Two sets of single-phase prototypes have been constructed. One is for the demonstration of the variable impedance, the other is for the demonstration of the SPQC. Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a common psychiatric disorder which is associated with an accelerated biological aging. However, little is known whether such process would be reflected by a more rapid aging of the brain function. In this study, we tested the hypothesis that MDD would be characterized by accelerated aging of the brain’s default-mode network (DMN) functions. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging data of 971 MDD patients and 902 healthy controls (HCs) was analyzed, which was drawn from a publicly accessible, multicenter dataset in China. Strength of functional connectivity (FC) and temporal variability of dynamic functional connectivity (dFC) within the DMN were calculated. Age-related effects on FC/dFC were estimated by linear regression models with age, diagnosis, and diagnosis-by-age interaction as variables of interest, controlling for sex, education, site, and head motion effects. The regression models revealed (1) a significant main effect of age in the predictions of both FC strength and dFC variability; and (2) a significant main effect of diagnosis and a significant diagnosis-by-age interaction in the prediction of FC strength, which was driven by stronger negative correlation between age and FC strength in MDD patients. Our results suggest that (1) both healthy participants and MDD patients experience decrease in DMN FC strength and increase in DMN dFC variability along age; and (2) age-related decrease in DMN FC strength may occur at a faster rate in MDD patients than in HCs. However, further longitudinal studies are still needed to understand the causation between MDD and accelerated aging of brain.

Betel quid (BQ) is one of the most popular addictive substances in the world. However, the neurophysiological mechanism underlying BQ addiction remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate whether and how BQ chewing would affect brain function in the framework of a dynamic brain network model. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging scans were collected from 24 male BQ-dependent individuals and 26 male non-addictive healthy individuals before and promptly after chewing BQ. Switching rate, a measure of temporal stability of functional brain networks, was calculated at both global and local levels for each scan. The results showed that BQ-dependent and healthy groups did not significantly differ on switching rate before BQ chewing (F = 0.784, p = 0.381, analysis of covariance controlling for age, education, and head motion). After chewing BQ, both BQ-dependent (t = 2.674, p = 0.014, paired t-test) and healthy (t = 2.313, p = 0.029, paired t-test) individuals showed a significantly increased global switching rate compared to those before chewing BQ. Significant corresponding local-level effects were observed within the occipital areas for both groups, and within the cingulo-opercular, fronto-parietal, and cerebellum regions for BQ-dependent individuals. Moreover, in BQ-dependent individuals, switching rate was significantly correlated with the severity of BQ addiction assessed by the Betel Quid Dependence Scale scores (Spearman's rho = 0.471, p = 0.020) before BQ chewing. Our study provides preliminary evidence for the acute effects of BQ chewing on brain functional dynamism. These findings may provide insights into the neural mechanisms of substance addictions.

Previous studies have demonstrated that the suicidality in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD) is related to abnormal brain functional connectivity (FC) patterns. However, little is known about its relationship with dynamic functional connectivity (dFC) based on the assumption that brain FCs fluctuate over time. Temporal stabilities of dFCs within the whole brain and nine key networks were compared between 52 MDD patients and 21 age, sex-matched healthy controls (HCs) using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging and temporal correlation coefficients. The alterations in MDD were further correlated with the scores of suicidality item in the Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression (HAMD). Compared with HCs, the MDD patients showed a decreased temporal stability of dFC as indicated by a significantly decreased temporal correlation coefficient at the global level, as well as within the default mode network (DMN) and subcortical network. In addition, temporal correlation coefficients of the DMN were found to be significantly negatively correlated with the HAMD suicidality item scores in MDD patients. These results suggest that MDD may be characterized by excessive temporal fluctuations of dFCs within the DMN and subcortical network, and that decreased stability of DMN connectivity may be particularly associated with the suicidality in MDD.

In this paper, a novel principle of an active power filter based on the harmonic impedance control of a transformer is proposed for high-voltage power distribution systems application. A linear transformer with multiple secondary windings is adopted. The primary winding is shunted with harmonic-producing loads, while the secondary windings are connected with inverters. The primary harmonic current is detected and then tracked by the inverters with fixed compensation coefficient. When the harmonic current compensation condition is satisfied, the transformer can really exhibit nearly zero impedance to harmonic current and primary self-impedance to fundamental current. As a result, the harmonic currents in power systems can be led to flow into the transformer branch. The operation principle, the control scheme, and the harmonic current detection method are discussed in detail. In this paper, a novel transformer structure is proposed in order to manufacture a high-power active filtering device. The novel transformer structure contains one primary and multiple secondary windings. The system configuration and compensation principle are addressed in detail. The fundamental magnetic flux compensation in the case of the transformer with multiple secondary windings is fulfilled. In addition, a three-phase active power filter topology consisting of three independent transformers with multiple secondary windings is presented so that the filter can run under unbalanced loads. The parameters of hysteresis current control are also analyzed in detail. A simple and practical fundamental detecting approach is discussed. Transient response and fault protection schemes are explained. A set of automatic three-phase active power filtering devices has been constructed and operated in the field. In this paper, a novel practical principle of series hybrid active power filter based on the fundamental magnetic flux compensation (FMFC) of a series transformer is proposed. In the active power filter, the fundamental current component of power utility is detected and tracked to produce a fundamental compensation current, which is injected into the secondary winding. According to the law of superposition, when the injected fundamental current and the fundamental current component of the power utility satisfy the FMFC, the series transformer can really exhibit very low impedance to fundamental and naturally magnetizing impedance to harmonics. As a result, the series hybrid active power filter with FMFC really acts as a "harmonic isolator". The current control scheme and fundamental detecting method are analyzed. The effects of ultrathin AlN insertion layers on the strain status, as well as optical properties of AlGaN multiple quantum wells (MQWs), were studied. A large stress variation of about -1.46 GPa can be achieved by introducing two ultrathin AlN layers at each interface between the quantum well and the barrier, thereby resulting in the fact that the degree of polarization is increased from 17.8% to 22.3% in traditional MQWs. In addition, the quantum well emission are found to become symmetric and narrower due to the suppression of compositional fluctuation. These results provide a simple technique to modify the strain field of MQWs so as to improve transverse-electric polarized emission for deep ultraviolet light emitting diodes.

Dense and atomically flat AlN film with root-mean-square roughness value of 0.32 nm was grown on sapphire substrate at a relatively lower temperature by using a three-step epitaxy technique. On the basis of this AlN template, AlGaN-based multiple quantum wells (MQWs) with atomically flat hetero-interfaces were epitaxially grown to suppress nonradiative recombination by introducing In as a surfactant during simultaneous source supply. As a result, single intense- and narrow-peaked photoluminescence was obtained from the MQWs. Finally, the deep ultraviolet light emitting diodes with well-behaved I-V characteristic and strong electroluminescence in the range of 256–312 nm were fabricated successfully.
