WAYNE Dundon's lawyers have asked the Special Criminal Court to adjourn his forthcoming trial on a charge of murdering Limerick businessman Roy Collins. Remy Farrell SC, yesterday applied to postpone the trial as he said there was 'little reality' of the hearing concluding in the four to five weeks set aside. He told the non-jury court there were also issues surrounding the disclosure of the evidence in the case. Mr Dundon, 35, and Nathan Killeen, 23, are charged with the murder of 35-year-old Mr Collins at Coin Castle Amusements in Limerick city on April 9, 2009. The pair, both of Prospect, Limerick, are due to stand trial on April 29. Keith Spencer, for Mr Killeen, said he wished to make a similar application to adjourn the trial. But Sean Guerin SC, prosecuting, told the court any adjournment of the trial would lead to very serious concerns about security of a number of witnesses. He said evidence in relation to this was available and asked the court to defer the matter to enable examination of the witness testifying as to the security issue. Presiding judge Mr Justice Paul Butler said the court had not come to any decision and would adjourn the application.
