The aim of this research was to investigate the effect of principlas' transformational leader behaviors on teachers' organizational commitment. In the research, causal-comparative and relarional survey methods were used. The study group, defined according to convenient sampling method, was composed of 260 public school teachers working in five provinces in the Central Anatolia Region in Turkey. The data was gathered with "Transformational Leadership Scale" and "Teachers' Organizational Commitment Scale", in the spring semester of the 2021-2022 academic year. Descriptive statistical analysis, independent groups t-test, test of variance (ANOVA), Pearsons' corelational analysis and regresion analysis were employed in the analysis phase. The findings showed that both principals' transformational leadership levels and teachers' organizational commitment levels were moderate. It was observed that teachers' perceptions about their principals' transformational leadership behaviours and organizational commitment levels didn't show a significant difference among the groups of gender, age and work experience. It was found that there was a significant relationship between principals' transformational leadership behaviours and teachers' organizational commitment, and the former was a significant predictor of the latter. It was concluded that principals' transformational leadership behaviors might be effective in enhancing teachers' organizational commitment. In this frame practical, theoretical and research recommendations were developed.

This research examines the relationship between three leadership types exhibited by principals (instructional, distributed, and transformational leadership) and teacher academic optimism in order to reveal the differential effects of these leadership models on teachers' perceived academic optimism. The participants of the study included 225 elementary school teachers working at 20 schools across two provinces of Turkey. Several multiple regression models with OLS assumptions were employed in the analysis of the data. The results showed that all three leadership types were significantly related to teachers' academic optimism, yet distributed leadership explained the largest proportion of the total variation. When other leadership types were controlled, only distributed leadership emerged as a significant predictor of teacher academic optimism.

Purpose: In recent decades, researchers have increasingly begun to study the effects of transformational leadership on various teachers' attitudes in K-12 settings. However, studies on the effect of transformational leadership on the job satisfaction of vocational high school teachers are not sufficient. Therefore, in this study, the nature of the relationship between transformational leadership and job satisfaction in Turkish vocational high schools was examined. Design/methodology/approach: The study data came from 847 teachers working at 82 state vocational high schools located in 12 regions in Türkiye. To test the research model, we conducted multilevel structural equation modeling to explore the structural relationships between transformational leadership, teacher professional learning, teacher' self-efficacy and job satisfaction. Findings: The analysis confirms that teacher professional learning and self-efficacy are prominent mediators in the relationship between transformational leadership and job satisfaction in Turkish vocational high schools. Originality/value: The present study is expected to contribute to the body of research focusing on the effects of transformational leadership on job satisfaction in vocational high schools. Implications for theory, practice and policy are discussed.

This study tested a moderated mediation model of transformational leadership's effects on teacher innovative practices, with teacher commitment as mediator and trust in principal as moderator. Implementing a cross-sectional survey design and using data from 611 teachers working in 56 schools in Turkey, we employed multilevel structural equation modelling with Bayesian estimation to estimate the structural links between our variables. The results provided evidence of the indirect effects of transformational leadership on teacher innovative practices through the significant mediator role of teacher commitment. We also found evidence that trust in principal acted as a significant moderator of the indirect effect of transformational leadership on teacher innovative practice through teacher commitment. This study adds nuanced evidence to the global literature by concluding that the effect of transformational leadership on teacher commitment and innovative practice is contingent upon the extent to which teachers trust their principals. We conclude with key implications for policy and practice.

Purpose: This paper explores the relationship between transformational principal leadership and individual teacher innovativeness, considering the mediating role of teacher agency (TA) and the moderating role of teacher trust (TT). Design/methodology/approach: We employed structural equation modeling (SEM) using survey data collected from 676 teachers at 25 schools in Turkey. Findings: The results indicated no direct correlation between transformational leadership (TL) and teacher innovativeness but revealed a significant and positive association between TL and teachers' agency, as well as between teachers' agency and innovativeness, suggesting that TA fully mediates the association between TL and teacher innovativeness. Additionally, teachers' trust positively influenced the link between principal leadership and teachers' innovativeness, with the impact of TL on teachers' innovativeness being stronger when trust levels were higher. Research limitations/implications: This study contributes to the literature, providing an understanding of the mechanisms through which leadership can exert an influence on teacher innovativeness. Practical implications: This study also suggests that the strength of the influence is likely to vary under different circumstances. Trust among teachers appears to play a key role in the effect of school leadership on teachers, particularly when aiming to support and sustain innovativeness. Social implications: Trust-based relationships within a school are essential for school principals to influence innovative practices. We conclude that, in the absence of trust as a key component of school climate, achieving a comprehensive understanding of the role of school leadership in fostering teacher innovativeness seems unattainable. Originality/value: This paper expands existing knowledge regarding the effect of TL in leading teacher innovativeness by indicating the indispensable role of TA and trust.

This research aims to explore educational leadership during the COVID19 pandemic from the perspectives of higher education students and to develop a guiding model of educational leadership for 'new normal' with the novel emerging components. This research is conducted using grounded theory method and social network analysis. The first study group includes 32 participants, second study group includes another 26 participants, and final group includes 12 participants. Participants in all groups are university students studying in a higher education institution in Turkey. Written documents, personal interviews and group discussion are used for data collection. Based on analysis, a guiding model is developed which illustrates the concept of educational leadership for the new normal, which is composed of "networking, enhancing educational practices, calmness & compassion, analytical & strategical thinking, and transparency". Also, the social network analysis shows that "encouraging online communities, promoting social interaction, creating a safe and inclusive learning environment, providing learning resources, leading under pressure, emphasizing optimism, making data-driven decisions" are cornerstones in terms of educational leadership for the new normal. In addition to those substantially noted key concepts, some higher education students also seem to be in need of some other aspects of educational leadership such as inspiration for learning, open dialogue, risk planning and leveraging capacity of community. The participants also indicate that successful educational leadership is about understanding others' perspectives, rather than sticking to leader's perspective.

This study aimed to determine the perceptions of teachers and administrators about the concept of uplifting leadership in depth through metaphors. In this study, phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. The study group of the research consists of 30 people, 15 administrators and 15 teachers who work in primary, secondary and high schools affiliated to Antalya Directorate of National Education and selected through snowball sampling, which is purposeful sampling methods. A structured questionary form was used as a data collection tool. Metaphors were used as a data collection method and the participants were asked to explain what they think uplifting leadership resembled with reasons. Descriptive analysis was used to analyze the data. The responses of the participants were classified and analyzed; the analysis was supported by direct quotations from the participants. NVivo package program was used to encode and classify the data. As a result of the study, it has been found that the metaphors produced by the participants contain features of the uplifting leadership by the changing management perception, such as being contemporary, constantly improving itself by following the innovations, trying to save organizations from the static structure, exciting employees for their improvement or institutional improvement, teaching them to dream, supporting different ideas, working in cooperation.

The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between level of innovation competence of school principals and innovation level of schools with the opinions of teachers working in Vocational and Technical Anatolian High Schools. The research was designed with the correlational survey model. The research population consists of 306 teachers working in the Vocational and Technical Anatolian High Schools in the center of Giresun in the 2019/2020 academic year. According to results obtained from the research, the relationship between innovation competence of the school principals and innovation levels of the schools is at the middle level. There are statistically significant differences in the views of teachers about the sub-dimensions of innovation competencies of school principals according to gender and age variables. There is no statistically significant difference in terms of branch, educational background, professional seniority and duty duration variables. According to the teachers' opinions, it was found that the innovation level of schools did not differ significantly according to age, branch, education level, professional seniority and duty duration at school. Statistically significant difference was found in the teachers' opinions regarding the organizational barriers sub-dimension of the innovation levels of the schools according to the gender variable. At the end of the research, it is recommended that studies be conducted on the innovation competencies of school administrators and the innovation level of schools and to support innovative applications especially for vocational and technical education.

Administration and governance of schools in Turkey have a complex structure and process. Within the centralized structure, the procedures in educational activities are managed by school principals. In the Turkish literature, there are studies showing leadership styles of school leaders based on the leadership theories borrowed from different contexts. Furthermore, these leadership styles are linked to school outcomes like academic achievement and teacher motivation. Thus, catching compatible sides of leadership theories may serve to improve this kind of school outcomes. In these respects, the current study aimed to investigate which leadership styles have more effect on academic achievement and teacher motivation. Exclusion and inclusion criteria were determined in order to identify the studies to be analyzed. A meta-analysis study including 21 studies in Turkish context was conducted to achieve the purpose of the study. The meta-analysis results showed that the leadership styles were highly related with the school outcomes. Overall, laissez-faire, transactional, instructional, and transformational leadership styles had a high and positive relation with the school outcomes. The laissez-faire and spiritual leadership styles showed more effect on the teacher motivation while the positive and transformational style had more effect on the academic achievement. Considering the conclusions of the study, it is recommended that future studies develop a leadership theory specific to the educational settings in Turkey.

It is regarded as considerable values those principles' skills of managing diversities and teachers' cultural intelligences which mean they understand and appreciate other cultures. These core values are remarkably vital to be culturally literate in the global world. The organizations and their administrators respecting the diversities of the employees can allocate more time competing their counterparts in the world instead of losing energy with unnecessary conflicts. The aim of the study is to examine the correlation between teachers' cultural intelligence and Principal's managing the diversities and their transformational leaderships according to the teachers' point of views. The research has adopted a correlational model. The data of the research was gathered from 428 primary school teachers in Turkey/Malatya during 2020-2021 academic year. The Data was gathered through the "Cultural Intelligence", "Diversity Management" and "Transformational Leadership" scales. The data was analyzed by arithmetic mean, correlation analysis and regression analysis. The results of the research suggest that the primary school teacher's cultural intelligence, the principal's management of diversity and their transformational leadership levels were "mostly high". It was revealed that there was a moderate level positive significant correlation between teachers' cultural intelligence levels and Principal's skills of managing the diversities and their transformational leaderships. Moreover, teacher's cultural intelligence levels and Principal's skills of managing the diversities predict the transformational leaderships of Principles. Consequently, to increase the transformational leadership of Principals, it is recommended to enhance teachers' socio-cultural awareness and to work on improving the skills of diversity management of principals.

The quality of school leaders and teachers is critical to both school development and student achievement. Thus, quality school leaders are needed for teachers to perform their assigned roles and tasks in line with the school goals. This paper examined the effect of transformational leadership behaviours of school principals on teacher agency. The study adopted a correlational research method and was conducted with 349 teachers working in primary, middle, and secondary schools of 15 cities located in eastern, central, and western Anatolia regions. Based on the variables observed in the school, path analysis was applied to analyse the relationships between implicit variables. A direct relationship was found between the transformational leadership practice of school principals and teachers' behaviours. In addition, transformational leadership practices of school principals had a direct as well as a moderate effect on teacher agency; teacher self-efficacy led to an indirect increase on this effect.

Purpose: This study intends to systematically review empirical evidence on transformational school leadership (TSL) in a centralized educational context. Design/methodology/approach: The study includes a topographical mapping and a narrative review of thirty-seven research articles published in Turkey between 2000 and 2021. The review strategy included systematically searching the Turkish Academic Network and Information Center (ULAKBIM) and Scopus. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) flow diagram guided the review and reporting process. Findings: Three key themes emerged--(1) perceptions, attitudes and behaviors; (2) psychological resources, learning and innovation; and (3) school climate and culture. The results indicated that the research evidence on TSL in the review did not correspond well with the evidence on TSL in non-Western contexts. The authors also discussed the state of research narratively to provide an overview of the topical foci and methodological and conceptual trends. Research limitations/implications: First, although the databases of the study are claimed to be regularly updated locally, these two search databases may inevitably have missed some journal articles relevant to the inclusion criteria. A possible solution is to include more databases like ERIC, PsycArticles, SAGE, ScienceDirect, PsycINFO, Web of Science and ProQuest. Second, the authors decided to limit the exploration of journal articles on transformative leadership to peer-reviewed journal articles. The authors might have missed a wider range of insights available in book chapters, books, research papers, dissertations and gray literature. Third, as there were many levels of research foci, the authors did the coding on research foci and methods. However, the approach may not allow authors to explore the relationships between research foci and method design. One possible solution is to do all coding in one file so that more complex analysis can follow. Finally, the authors agree that TSL is only one leadership style that is related to leadership effectiveness and that effective leadership is multi-faceted and requires a combination of leadership styles. Accordingly, the evidence in the study sheds light on only one dimension of leadership effectiveness. Originality/value: Our review is part of an effort to demonstrate the importance of a culturally-situated understanding of TSL and to develop a globally validated knowledge base. It identifies and summarizes research in a non-Western school context defined by centrality, lack of autonomy and accountability.

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between school administrators' transformational leadership behaviours and teachers' perceptions of organizational justice. The sample of the study consists of 170 teachers working in high schools in Elazig city center. In the study, the Transformational Leadership Scale was used to determine whether school administrators exhibit transformational leadership behaviours, and the Organizational Justice Scale was used to determine teachers' perceptions of organizational justice. Pearson moment two-correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis techniques were used in the analysis of the data. According to the research findings, it was observed that school administrators frequently exhibited transformational leadership behaviours and teachers' perceptions of organizational justice were at the level of "I agree". In general, moderate, positive and significant relationships were found between transformational leadership and organizational justice. According to the results of the regression analysis, it was determined that the idealized influence dimension of transformational leadership positively and significantly predicted the formal procedures dimension of the organizational justice scale, and also idealized influence and individualized consideration dimensions of transformational leadership positively and significantly predicted the interactional justice dimension of the organizational justice scale. The research results were discussed in the relevant literature and recommendations were made. The main purpose of this study is to determine the relationship of the school administrators' leadership styles with resistance to change and organizational dissent based on teachers' perceptions, and also to reveal whether the leadership styles of the administrators predict resistance to change and organizational dissent. After defining leadership styles, their relationship with organizational dissent and resistance to change was addressed and a survey was conducted in line with this purpose. The survey was applied to 505 teachers working in the central districts of Mersin in the 2018-2019 academic year. In the study, it was concluded that there is no relationship between autocratic leadership and the sub-dimensions of organizational dissent. While democratic and transformational leadership styles have a positive significant relationship with horizontal dissent, they have no significant relationship with vertical dissent. Democratic and transformational leadership styles do not predict vertical dissent significantly, but they predict horizontal dissent significantly.

This study examined the the relationship between the transformational leadership behaviors of the faculty members and the students' self-efficacy beliefs in learning based on the opinions of higher education students. The research was carried out with 915 students studying at Yozgat Bozok University and analyzed by quantitative methods. The "Transformational Teaching Scale" (TTS) developed by Tahir (2018) has been adapted to Turkish in order to determine the transformational teaching levels of the instructors. Self-efficacy for Learning Scale (SELS) developed by Klobas, Renzi and Nigrelli (2007) has been adapted to Turkish in order to determine the higher education students' self-efficacy in learning. In the analysis of the data, descriptive statistics and the structural equation model were used. As a result of the research, sub-dimensions of transformational teaching, "considerate intellectual stimulation" and "charisma," were found to have positive relationships with dimensions of self-efficacy for learning, "finding and info processing." It has been determined that the transformational teaching is a significant predictor of learning self-efficacy of students.

This study aimed to reveal the opinions of teachers about the competencies of school administrators in order to ensure the sustainability of education in schools. It was a pneumology study designed with qualitative research method. The study group consists of fifteen teachers from schools located in five different educational zones across the center of Sivas, a city in Central Turkey. Study data were analyzed with content analysis to determine the factors that provide educational sustainability in schools. According to the results; solidarity and structured work characteristics among school administrators to fulfill the objectives of the school affect the adequacy of education in a positive way; while institutionalism and limiting of the capacity have an opposite effect. In relation to capacity building for taking the school culture to future, school administrators have a high opinion of opening up to the neighborhood besides school culture supply and demand. Lastly, for carrying the school into the future, teachers expect school leaders to exhibit behaviors with emphasis on specific themes as ethics, motivation, and awareness.

The aim of the present study was to examine the relationships between perceptions of teacher's transformational leadership, organizational support, organizational justice and quality of work life. A model suggesting that teacher perceptions of the transformational leadership behavior of school administrators directly affected their perceptions about quality of work life, as well as, indirectly through their perceptions of organizational justice and organizational support is proposed. In order to test this model, a path analysis was conducted within the framework of Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Participants of the study included 658 teachers employed in state pre-schools, primary schools, junior high schools and high schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in Kilis province, Turkey, during the 2015-2016 academic years. "Transformational Leadership Scale", "Organizational Justice Scale", "Perceived Organizational Support Scale" and "Work- Related Quality of Life Scale" were used to collect the study data. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, path analysis and bootstrap analysis to determine the significance level of mediation effect were used. Analysis of the data demonstrated that there were significant positive relationships between the transformational leadership, organizational justice, organizational support, and quality of work life perceptions of the teachers. Path analysis findings showed that teacher perceptions about the presence of transformational leadership behavior among school administrators had a significant, direct and positive impact on quality of work life perceptions of the teachers and also had a significant, indirect and positive effect on teachers' perceptions of quality of work life through their perceptions of organizational support and organizational justice.

This systematic review aims to investigate the relationship between school principals' leadership behaviours and teachers' job satisfaction. With this purpose, studies that focused on this relationship in the literature were examined. Twenty-seven studies found in different databases (i.e. ERIC, WOS, SCOPUS and ULAKBIM) were included in the analysis. These studies mostly focused on the relationships between school principals' transformational and interaction leadership behaviours and teachers' job satisfaction. Additionally, job satisfaction was also studied in relation to servant leadership, ethical leadership, distributive leadership, individual- and task-oriented leadership and school leadership behaviours. Based on the findings of the studies examined, school principals' transformation leadership behaviours were found to have stronger relationships with teachers' job satisfaction compared to interactional leadership behaviours and were an important predictor of job satisfaction. Negative relationships were revealed between laissez-faire leadership and job satisfaction. On the other hand, school principals' servant leadership and ethical leadership behaviours were found to be important variables in ensuring job satisfaction. Lastly, school principals' administrative behaviours that encourage participation and are flexible, sharing leadership at school, and exhibiting individual-oriented and supportive leadership behaviours were revealed to enhance teachers' job satisfaction.

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to identify the relationship between strategic leadership levels of top managers that work in MoNE and their organizational change management capacity. Research Methods: In the study, a quantitative research design was employed during data collection and the analysis phases. The population of the study was consisted of head workers, educational experts, MoNE specialist assistants, unit managers, teachers working at the head organization of MoNE, and department heads. The data were collected by reaching the all units of the population so in this study, "census" was done. Findings: It was seen that there was a highly positive relation between the strategic leadership levels of top managers and their organizational change management capacity. It was also found that the subcategories of the SLQ were the meaningful predictors of all subcategories of the OCMQ. Implications for Research and Practice: It was seen that top managers in MoNE could not indicate strategic leadership attitudes during the organizational change management. Moreover, it was found out that top managers in MoNE were managing directors, they were not technical managers or transformative managers. MoNE should build the capacity of top managers on organizational change management.

This research aims to investigate the effects of leadership behaviour of school principals on teachers' organisational commitment in Turkey. The method of meta-analysis is used to calculate the effects size of leadership on teachers' organisational commitment. Besides this, leadership style, publication type and publication year are used as moderators in order to explain variation in effect sizes. The analysis results of the random effect model showed that leadership has a very strong and positive effect on teachers' organisational commitment. Particularly, supporting, democratic and transformational leadership styles affect organisational commitment of teachers more than other leadership approaches. However, except leadership styles, the other moderators chosen for the research are not a powerful determinant of the relationship between school leadership and organisational commitment.

Schools exist to prepare students for life and to ensure students' success. School principals are the most important people in terms of achieving schools' goals. Principals are expected to have goals and work in line with the main aims and principles of National Education. The aim of this study is to determine newly appointed school principals' reasons for becoming principals and to explore the expectations and goals of their schools. The research data were collected using semi-structured interview forms that were applied during the pre-service training of 40 school principals who were assigned as school principals for the first time in a province in the Black Sea region of Turkey at the beginning of the academic year. A qualitative research method and a content analysis technique were used for data analysis. The results show that most participants became school principals because they wanted to realize their educational ideals and goals. Participants' most important goal for their schools was to improve student qualification. Most of the participants' expectations about their schools' recognition in their school districts were about their schools' success.

The present study sought to contribute to the growing international knowledge base regarding the influence of school leadership on teacher learning by examining the relationship between principals' instructional and transformational leadership types and teachers' professional learning perceptions with the mediating effects of teachers' perceptions of collective efficacy and trust. A cross-sectional survey design of the quantitative research method was employed using the data collected from a total number of 1,200 teachers in Turkey. Mediation analysis in structural equation modelling (SEM) with the bootstrapping method was used to analyse the structural relations among variables. The result showed that both principals' instructional and transformational leadership types were significantly related to teacher professional learning, mediating by teacher trust and collective teacher efficacy. The study reconfirmed the results of the growing body of global literature on the relationship between principal leadership and teacher professional learning and practice.

Aim: While integrated leadership has received significant scholarly attention in the past decade, most existing research in this vein has focused on its impact on student achievement and often dismissed how it might be related to instructional practices, which are at the center of many school reforms. In this research, we examined the relationship between integrated leadership and teacher professional learning and teacher practices in Turkey, where educational policy makers have recently introduced several school reform initiatives. More specifically, we aimed to examine the moderating function of transformational leadership in the relationship between instructional leadership and teacher practices, with an emphasis on the mediating role of teacher professional learning. Research Design: We conducted this study with a cross-sectional design and moderated mediation model. Data collected from 616 teachers working in a mix of primary and secondary schools in Turkey were analyzed using structural equation modeling and bootstrapping tests. Findings: We found evidence that transformational leadership acted as a moderator of the indirect effect of principal instructional leadership on teachers' instructional practices through teacher professional learning. Implications: This study adds to the accumulated body of knowledge on the effects of school leadership by concluding that the effect of instructional leadership on teacher learning and practice is contingent upon the extent to which principals enact transformational leadership. School principals who adopt a more comprehensive leadership approach that combines instructional leadership and transformational leadership practices can maximize their effects on student achievement through teacher learning, and better address the ever-growing demands of educational reforms.

This study aims to determine the opinions of teachers about the innovation level of their schools. The sample of this research includes 471 teachers working in primary and secondary schools in Sinop, a city in Turkey. "Innovative School Scale" developed by Aslan and Kesik (2017) was used in order to collect data in this study. Percentage, frequency, mean, standard deviation, T-test and one-way ANOVA were performed to determine teachers' opinions about the innovation level of their schools according to the demographic variables. The findings show that the opinions of teachers about the innovation level of their schools are quite high with a level of "often" in the dimensions of innovative atmosphere, administrative support and the overall scale and with a level of "sometimes" in the organizational impediments. While the teachers' opinions indicate no significant differences regarding their genders, they show significant differences regarding their subject areas, years of teaching experience and teaching level of school. According to findings, branch teachers, teachers working in secondary schools and teachers having 21 or more years of teaching experience were found to have a higher level of opinions about the innovation level of their schools. The findings and suggestions obtained by the results are expected to contribute to the discussions and literature about increasing innovation level of schools.

The purpose of this study was to find out the transformational and transactional leadership and organizational cynicism perceptions of physical education and sports teachers. The sample of the study consists of 70 physical education teachers chosen randomly who were working in schools of Turkey during the 2017-2018 Academic year. Personal information form, transformational and transactional leadership scale and organizational cynicism scale were used in the study. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse the data obtained from the study. Kurtosis and Skewness values were found to show whether the variables of the study were normally distributed and t-test was used for paired comparisons, while Anova test was used for the comparison of more than two independent groups. According to the results of the study physical education teachers were found to have higher perceptions of transformational leadership when compared with transactional leadership and they were found to have moderate levels of organizational cynicism. While significant difference was found between transformational and transactional leadership styles and the variable of gender; no significant difference was found between gender and organizational cynicism sub-dimensions. Another result of the study was that no significant difference was found between the variables of type of school teachers worked in, age and school graduated from and organizational cynicism sub dimensions, transformational and transactional leadership styles. Also significant difference was found between the variable of teachers' professional seniority and cognitive dimension, affective dimension and behavioural dimension.

This paper aimed to investigate the transformational leadership behavior of high school students according to leisure preferences and participation type. 226 high school students attending Bursa Atatürk High School participated in the study voluntarily. In the study, to collect data transformational and transactional leadership scale developed by Basoglu (2013a) was revised and used. The construct validity of the scale assessed by confirmatory & explanatory factor analyzes. To investigate the differences between the participants' transformational leadership behavior Kruskal Wallis and Mann Whitney U nonparametric tests used. As a result, this study showed that students who chose physical activities and who actively involved in leisure activities showed more transformational leadership than the other students.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating effects of meaningfulness on the relationship between authentic leadership and altruistic behavior. The participants consisted of 356 teachers randomly selected from 14 primary and secondary schools in Nigde. Three different instruments were used in this study. The scales were translated using the translation and back translation method. All scales were adapted to the educational context. The validity and reliability of the scales were examined. Pearson correlation coefficient and the structural equation modeling were used for the data analysis. It was found that authentic leadership was positively related to teachers' altruistic behavior and meaningfulness in work. A significant positive relationship was found between altruistic behavior and meaningfulness. It has been determined that meaningfulness fully mediated the relationship between authentic leadership and altruistic behavior.

The aim of the current study is to identify the opinions of pre-service social studies teachers about Atatürk as a founding and transformational leader. The sample of the study comprises 180 pre-service teachers in the social studies teaching department of an education faculty in a public university. The data have been collected through an open-ended questionnaire prepared by the researchers. Content analysis has been used for the data analysis; the findings have been presented in tables through the frequency technique which is used for quantifying qualitative data, and percentage distributions have been given. Moreover, direct quotations from the opinions of the participants have been included so that quantitative data could be interpreted in a more meaningful way. The findings of the study show that the viewpoints of the pre-service teachers about Atatürk as a founding and transformational leader mostly gather around Atatürk as the founder of Turkish Republic, a foresighted leader and a transformational leader.

This study aims to investigate the effect of school principals' distributed leadership behaviors on teachers' organizational commitment. For this purpose, correlational survey model has been used in this study. The study group consists of 772 teachers working at secondary schools of Erzurum. The data of the study has been collected by using Distributed Leadership Inventory which was developed by Hulpia, Devos and Rosseel (2009a) and adapted to Turkish by Baloglu (2012), and Organizational Commitment Scale for Teachers which was developed by Üstüner (2009). The data has been analyzed with SPSS programme. Some descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentages, arithmetic mean and standard deviation have been used. Besides, Pearson Moment Correlation has been used in order to determine the relationships among the variables; and multiple linear regression analysis has been used to investigate predictive power of distributed leadership. According to the findings of the study, it is determined that teachers' perceptions towards school principals' distributed leadership behaviors and organizational commitment are at moderate level. The findings of the study have revealed that there is a positive and significant relationship between school principals' distributed leadership behaviors and teachers' organizational commitment. Besides, school principals' distributed leadership behaviors significantly predict teachers' organizational commitment.

This study investigated the effectiveness of a student leadership program at Yildiz Technical University (Turkey) based on the Kouzes and Posner (2018) leadership model. A quantitative quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test control group demonstrated the effectiveness of the program. The analysis indicated a positive change for all five leadership practices, with three reaching statistical significance levels. Semi-structured interviews with students explored the two non-significant findings. The qualitative results suggested that leadership development programs need learning activities that apply to real-life situations and focusing on enhancing students' self-confidence as leaders.

Organizational deviant behaviors can be defined as behaviors that have deviated from standards and uncongenial to organization's expectations. When such behaviors have been thought to damage the organization, it can be said that reducing the deviation behaviors at minimum level is necessary for a healthy organization. The aim of this research is to determine the level of teachers' organizational deviant behaviors to show the relationship between deviant behavior level and principal's leadership styles. Research's data were collected from 557 secondary school teachers working in Izmir province by using scales named as "Organizational Deviance Scale for Schools" and "Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire". According to the findings, teachers have displayed organizational deviant behaviors at low level and principals have absorbed transformational and interactional leadership. According to correlation analysis, there has been a negative relationship between organizational deviant behaviors and transformational and interactional leadership styles, and a positive relationship between organizational deviant behaviors and laissez-faire leadership. Findings have explained the effect of principals' leadership styles on deviant behavior. As a recommendation, to decrease these deviant behaviors, principals who tend to show transactional and transformational leadership behaviors can be guided and trained about the reasons of deviant behaviors, and how to reduce these deviant behaviors.

Trust is a critical component of successful schools, especially trust between the principals and the teachers. Trust does not happen automatically. It has to be a part of overall planning for the professional development of both principals and teachers. The aim of this study is to identify the level of teachers' perception of school principals' leadership behaviors; and the level of teachers' trust in colleagues, in students and parents, and in principals. The study also aims to detect the predictive power of teachers' perception of school principals' leadership over teachers' organizational trust perception. The participants of this research are the teachers working in the primary and secondary schools located in the districts and villages of Burdur City of Turkey which provided education during 2009-2010 school years. For the research, the entire population of 2230 teachers in the Burdur City was invited. Of the 2230 teachers, 1891 responded to the questionnaire. They worked in 196 schools throughout Burdur, 154 of which are primary and 42 are secondary. Omnibus T Scale (Hoy & Tschannen-Moran, 2003) and Leadership Behavior Questionnaire (Ekvall & Arvonen, 1991) were used in the research. In the study it is found that, with respect to teachers' perception, the level of principals' leadership was high; the perception level of teachers' trust in colleagues and principals was high, whereas their perception of trust in students and parents was at medium level. It is also found that the relationship between teachers' leadership perception and their perception of trust in their principals was positive and significant at a high level while the relationship between teachers' perception of trust in colleagues and in students and parents was positive and significant at low level.

Reflective leadership plays a key role in successfully maintaining the operation in organizations and in achieving their far and near objectives. In order to enable this success in school organizations, each employee in the school should make an effort for development and effective operation of the school organization. A reflective school leader is effective in enabling and sustaining this success by utilizing their reflective leadership traits. The aim of this research is to determine the reflective leadership levels of school principals by science and math teachers' viewpoints. Sample of the research is composed of a total of 147 volunteer teachers 68 of whom serve as science teachers and 79 as math teachers in high schools in Çorum city center. Data have been collected through "reflective leadership" scale adapted to Turkish language by Ersozlu and Castelli (2016). According to the research findings, it is understood that science and math teachers consider school principals' reflective leadership traits to be at middle level. With regard to gender, age, branch and years of experience; no difference is found in teachers' perceptions on reflective leadership of school principals.

The aim of this study is to investigate the transformational and transactional leadership styles of school principals, and to evaluate them in terms of educational administration. Descriptive survey model was used in the research. The data of the research were obtained from a total of 1,117 teachers working in public and private schools subjected to ministry of national education in Avcilar district of Istanbul province in 2014. In this study, data were obtained from the "personal information form" developed by the researcher and from the "leadership styles scale". Data entry that was obtained from the respondents was made by statistical package for the social sciences (SPSS) version 17.0, and research data was resolved with "average", "standard deviation", "t-test" and "one-way analysis of variance". According to research result; teachers had a high level of positive opinions with regard to transformational and transactional leadership characteristics of school principals. Teachers' perceptions about transformational and transactional leadership characteristics of school principals did not vary significantly according to gender, state of education and professional seniority.

In this study, the relationships between the leadership styles of school principals, school culture, and organizational image are examined according to the teachers' perceptions. The study is designed according to a relational survey model, and it consists of 370 teachers working in 20 schools in Selçuklu, Karatay, and Meram districts of Konya, Turkey. The leadership style scale of school principals (LSSSP), the scale for school culture (SSC), and the scale of the organizational image (SOI) were used as data collection tools. Pearson's correlation, regression, and path analysis were used for analyzing data in addition to descriptive statistics. It was found that school principals manifest transformational leadership characteristics, the perception of school culture by the teachers is strong and the perception of the organizational image by the teachers is medium. It was also found that there are significant relationships between leadership styles, the school culture, and organizational image, along with the leadership style of school principals, which significantly predicted school culture, and school culture, which significantly predicted organizational image. School culture has a mediator effect on both leadership styles and the organizational image. This is due to the realization of the leadership styles that have an important role in developing an organizational image, through school culture. This research offers the presumptions that leadership manifested by the principal creates a positive effect on the members of the organization and contributes to the formation of strong school culture, in addition to leadership and school culture making a positive contribution to the organizational image of the educational institution.

This research aims to investigate the effect of leadership styles of school principals on organizational health. Causal-comparative research model was used to analyze the relationships between leadership types and organizational health. For data collection, a Likert type Multifactor Leadership scale questionnaire and Organizational Health scale were administered to 151 teachers working primary and secondary schools in Osmaniye city. Data were analyzed by using multiple regression analysis method. Findings of this study indicated significant relationships between school principals' leadership styles and health of schools, that leadership style of school leaders influence organizational health level of a school. Transformational leadership style was also found out to be closely related to a healthy school environment while transactional leadership style is negatively correlated with organizational health. Individual consideration, inspirational motivation, idealized influence, and intellectual stimulation sub-dimensions are found to effective in the formation of organizational health. In the light of the findings, some recommendations were also presented.

The aim of this study has been to identify school managers' leadership styles and levels in terms of teachers' perceptions. The focus of the study includes primary, secondary and high schools in Sahinbey and Sehitkamil districts of Gaziantep. In the study, the selection of the sample, which consists of 228 teachers, was carried out by using the disproportionate cluster sampling method. The data have been collected via change leadership scale and multi-factorial leadership scale. For analysis of data Pearson Correlation coefficients have been used. According to the research results, teachers believe that among the multi-factorial leadership styles their managers show mostly transformational, transactional and change leadership behaviors, while they show laissez-faire leadership behaviors less frequently. It was also found out that there is a moderate relation between transformational and change leadership styles; a low-level weak relation between transformational and transactional leadership; and a low-level relation between transformational and laissez-faire leadership. On the other hand, there is a respectively low and meaningful relationship between change leadership and transactional leadership; a negative and very low relationship between change leadership and laissez-faire leadership. Finally, a low level relation has been detected between transactional leadership and laissez-faire leadership.

The aim of this survey is to analyze the perception of teachers regarding the relationship between change leadership and organizational commitment. The study sample is 221 teachers working in the schools of Gaziantep, Sanliurfa and Mardin during the 2014-15 educational year since it is easier to reach them. The sample choice of our study has been made by applying the disproportionate cluster sampling method. According to the linear regression analysis results; change leadership predicts organizational commitment in a positive way. Also, multiple regression analysis results indicate that change-selling behaviors of change leadership predict organizational commitment significantly. It is beneficial for principals who want to increase the organizational commitment of teachers to exhibit change leadership behaviors in schools.

The main purpose of this study is to determine how power usage styles of administrators of faculties of education influence the organizational culture in their respective faculties in Turkey. Using the phenomenological method, a qualitative research method, researchers studied a group comprised of 20 academics from 7 different colleges of education employed during the 2011-2012 academic year. In order to select the appropriate study group, maximum variation technique was used since it is one of the purposive sampling methods. The data were gathered using semi- structured interview questions developed by the researchers themselves and were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques. In this study, it was found that while the administrators of this group mostly used legal, coercive, and reward power styles, charismatic and expertise power styles did not have a significant impact on members of their respective faculties. It was further found that administrators' usage of legal, coercive, and reward power styles bread both organizational cultures of power and bureaucracy. It was concluded that, due to the lack of charismatic and expertise power styles, cultures of success and support are unable to flourish in such faculties and that there are even difficulties in setting up a fully functional bureaucratic culture. As a result of this study, the researchers have suggested that in order to develop an organizational culture with all of its necessary components in faculties of education, administrators should be assigned through democratic selection methods, that they be trained in administrators training programs, and that a peer mentoring system should be developed in faculties of education.

This study investigates the relation between secondary school administrators' transformational and transactional leadership style and skills to diversity management in the school, based on branch teachers' perceptions. The relational survey method was used in the study. The sample for the study was comprised of teachers 735 public school teachers from 34 different schools in the city of Siirt during the academic year of 2010-2011. In the research, "Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire" scale was used to determine the leadership styles of school administrators and "Questionnaire for Diversity Management" scale was used to indicate the degree of behavior related to diversity management. In the result of research it was determined that there was a positive and moderate relationship between school administrators' transformational leadership style and skills to management diversity. This study it was found that there was a positive and moderate relationship between all dimensions of transformational leadership and contingent reward sub-dimension of transactional leadership and administrative practices and policies sub-dimension of diversity management, and between intellectual stimulation and individual support sub-dimensions of transformational leadership and contingent reward sub-dimension of transactional leadership and individual attitudes and behaviors, organizational values and norms dimensions of diversity management. It was also found that there was a negative and weak relationship between management by exception (passive) and laissez-faire leadership dimensions of transactional leadership and individual attitudes and behaviors, administrative practices and policies sub-dimensions of diversity management, and between management by exception of transactional leadership (passive) and organizational values and norms sub-dimension of diversity management. Findings of study reveals that practices, such as individual attitudes and behaviors, managerial practices and politics associated with individualized consideration, dimension of transformational leaders and contingent, dimension of transactional leadership were significantly predictors of management skills diversity in schools. Furthermore practices of dimensions of transformational leadership, individualized consideration, idealized stimulation and of dimensions of transactional leadership, contingent reward significantly predictor dimensions of management diversity in schools in respect to organizational values and norms.

In the study, the relation between school administrators' leadership style and resistance to change and prediction level of leadership styles for behaviours about resistance to change were discussed. Leadership styles of educational leaders which can vary according to their cultural, personal, psychological and educational qualities play a key role in change process. For this, it was tried to be determined in the study which leadership styles become prominent in managing successfully the change process in education. The study was based on field research using primary data gathered from 287 school administrators by Resistance to Change Scale (Oreg, 2003) and Leadership Style Scale (Tas, Celik and Tomul, 2007). Correlation analysis technique was used to analyze the relation between administrators' leadership style and resistance to change. In addition, multiple regression analysis technique was used to determine prediction level of leadership styles for resistance to change. There is a low relation between leadership styles and resistance to change, and leadership styles predict resistance to change at a low level. The study group was 287 administrators. The school administrators' leadership styles (autocratic, democratic, laissez-faire, transformational and transactional) are related at a low level with resistance to change. However, it is understood that resistance to change is also affected by factors other than leadership styles. This point appears to be reasonable when change is considered to be a complex process with multi-factors. Negative relation between autocratic or laissez-faire leadership styles and resistance to change seems a striking result of the study. Consistent with this, it isn't also expected that democratic leadership style increases routine behaviours. However, the fact that autocratic and laissez-faire leadership of administrators reduce resistance to change doesn't mean that they support change. It can be said that, no mater what the change is about, resistance is unavoidable due to uncertainties and loss of habits.

Researchers have conducted a number of studies in order to demonstrate the effects of leadership styles on school outcomes. In these research studies, particularly, the full range of leadership styles have been used. The impact of transformational leadership, transactional leadership and laissez faire stated in this model on job satisfaction and organizational commitment of teachers were analysed. In this research study, it is aimed to determine the effect of leadership styles of school administrators on the job satisfaction and organizational commitment of teachers using the method of meta-analysis. Twelve research findings made in Turkey were analyzed using the method of meta-analysis. The research results showed that particularly, transformational leadership style affected job satisfaction and organizational commitment of teachers in a positive way. It was concluded that as the leadership style of administrators changes from transactional to transformational, the level of job satisfaction and organizational commitment of teachers' rose.

Problem Statement: Transformational leadership increases organization members' commitment and engagement in meeting organizational goals and it enhances skills and capacities. Many studies reveal that transformational leadership behaviors, such as idealized influence, inspirational motivation, individualized consideration, innovative climate, and intellectual stimulation, are positively related to better performance and increased job satisfaction. It is considered that since managers of the future will be transformational leaders, they should be trained as transformational leaders. Purpose of the Study: The main purpose of this study is to introduce usability of the Cross-Cultural Adaptation of Headmasters' Transformational Leadership Scale. It also purposes to discover headmasters' behaviors based on teachers' perceptions. Methods: In this study, a descriptive statistical model was employed, and 822 teachers participated in the Malatya (n = 442) and Adiyaman (n = 380) provinces. The sample of this study was chosen by a purposive sampling method. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was employed to obtain evidence related to construct validity of the scale, and it administered on 330 primary schools teachers in Mardin. For Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA), it was administered to 390 teachers in Adiyaman, Turkey. Findings and Results: After EFA and CFA processes, it was proven that this scale is valid and usable for the Turkish context. As a result of the reliability and validity processes, the adapted form of the scale was composed of 23 items. Item sub-factor correlation was between 0.78 and 0.90, and item total correlation was between 0.61 and 0.80. Cronbach value was found to be 0.96. Other values found were 0.87 for vision building; 0.88 for individual consideration; 0.92 for intellectual consideration; and 0.91 for the innovative climate sub-dimension. As a result, it was discovered that 61.22% of the teachers remarked that their headmasters provided participation for vision building; 72.02% stated that their individual consideration were valued; and 65.07% claimed that their individual stimulation was supported. Finally, 80% asserted that they were encouraged for an innovative climate in their organizations. Conclusion and Recommendations: Results reveal that teachers' perceptions about their headmasters' transformational leadership behaviors are positive in vision building, individual consideration, intellectual stimulation, and innovative climate. They perceive their headmasters' leadership qualities and communicative skills positively. It is recommended that headmasters who are incompetent should be trained carefully through in-service programs.

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between transformational school leadership and ethical climate. The participants were 764 teachers in 50 elementary schools in Nigde during the 2008/2009 academic year. Two distinct instruments were used in this study. The Principal Leadership Style Inventory developed by Leithwood and Jantzi (1991) was used for determining principals' transformational leadership style and the Ethical Climate Questionnaire developed by Victor and Cullen (1988) was used to determine the ethical climate. Pearson product correlation coefficient and simple regression techniques were used for data analysis. Results showed that principals carried out fostering group goals the highest and holding high performance expectations the lowest among transformational leadership dimensions. Elementary schools had caring at the highest level and instrumental at the lowest level as ethical climate types. All dimensions of transformational leadership were positively related to caring, law and code, and rules ethical climate types. The highest relationship was found between all dimensions of transformational leadership and caring ethical climate type. Instrumental ethical climate was negatively related to providing vision or inspiration, models behavior, fostering group goals, providing support and providing intellectual stimulation. Instrumental was not significantly related holding high performance expectations. The highest negative relationship was found between instrumental and providing support, models behavior. Independence ethical climate was positively related to providing support, intellectual stimulation and holding high performance expectations. Independence was not significantly associated with providing vision or inspiration, models behavior and fostering group goals. School transformational leadership was a significant predict of ethical climate. A simple regression analysis showed that approximately 40% of the total variance pertaining to ethical climate can be explained by transformational leadership behaviors. (Contains 3 tables.)

This article examines the effects of the leadership style of the principal, "transformational leadership and transactional leadership", along with teachers' job satisfaction on schools' organizational health. Specifically speaking, it investigates to what extent the variations in school health can be related to the principal's leadership style and teachers' job satisfaction. To this end, a Likert-type questionnaire was administered to 635 teachers working in Turkish schools out of a 875-person sample. Path Analysis was used to explain the direct and indirect relationships between the dependent and independent variables. As a result of the analysis, the most striking finding is that transformational leadership has a profound impact on teachers' job satisfaction, while the transformational leadership of the principal directly and, through teachers' job satisfaction, indirectly affects the school health. The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of an empowering school culture (ESC) with respect to the perceptions of teachers. Qualitative methods and techniques were used in the study, which is phenomenological in terms of research designs used in qualitative researches. The participants in the study were 43 secondary school teachers working in the Gaziantep province of Turkey. Study data were acquired via a semistructured interview technique. Content and frequency analyses were applied on the acquired data, finding that the dominant characteristics of ESC emphasise a sense of confidence, change, innovation and collaborative management. Teacher efficacy, job satisfaction, strong social relationships and leadership of the school principal are the primary generated characteristics of ESC as results of the reflections of empowerment. Therefore, it is concluded that ESC is both change and pragmatism oriented. Based on the results of the study, it is suggested that school principals should not refrain from sharing their responsibilities with teachers and should build close relationships with them in order to gain their trust.

This study aims to determine the relationship between school administrators' leadership styles and the collective teacher efficacy based on teachers' perceptions. In line with this objective, the multifactor leadership style scale and the collective teacher efficacy scale were applied on 223 teachers who were working in the province of Erzurum. Pearson's Moment Correlation Analysis and Multilinear Regression Analysis techniques were utilized in analyzing the obtained data. It was concluded that there was a significant relationship between school principals' leadership styles and the collective teacher efficacy. It was also found that the school principals' transformational, transactional and Laissez-faire leadership styles had the power to predict the collective teacher efficacy at a significant level.

This paper analyses differences in perceptions of gender and leadership though qualitative interviews with 45 senior managers in Australia and Turkey. The literature suggests that masculine models of leadership are changing with both women and many men preferring transformational leadership styles. The research found that there were different perceptions about gender and leadership in Australian and Turkish universities, reflecting different economic and social contexts. Turkish respondents mostly did not engage in discussion on the topic and did not consider women experienced discrimination as managers. In contrast, Australian respondents acknowledged discrimination and supported interventions by Vice-Chancellors (VCs) to increase women in university management. Perceptions of leadership in Turkish universities were aligned with a predominantly masculine/transactional model, and in Australia had moved from heroic masculinity to more inclusive leadership styles, consistent with a transformational leadership model.
