AbstractOver the last decade, rapid advances in information systems (ISs) have greatly reshaped and changed the nature of doing business and how its performance is measured, with Electronic Auditing (E-auditing) emerging as a pivotal element in improving organizational efficiency. This study addresses the challenges faced in manually implementing audits and underscores the necessity for transitioning to electronic audit systems. The manual approach has limitations regarding the accuracy of operations, so to enhance performance, E-auditing is now imperative. The purpose of the study is to evaluate E-auditing in the public sector of Saudi Arabia, utilizing DeLone and McLean’s information system model (DM ISM). The focus is on vital factors including information quality, system quality, service quality, system usage and user satisfaction and their influence on the performance of internal audit departments, particularly during the challenges posed by the recent COVID-19 pandemic. This research employs a quantitative approach, utilizing a self-administered survey questionnaire to collect data from E-auditing users in the Saudi public sector. The study applies partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) to validate the gathered data. Findings reveal that information quality and system quality significantly influence E-auditing usage. While service quality exhibits no marked effect on usage, the study establishes a strong relationship between E-auditing usage and user satisfaction. Effective E-auditing usage and satisfied users contribute convincingly to the improved performance of internal audit departments. The paper concludes with implications, limitations, and suggestions for future studies.

AbstractThe concept of country branding, also referred to as nation or place branding, involves the creation and management of a nation’s image and products to promote various aspects of its identity. This study conducted a systematic review of country branding studies based on articles published between 2010 and 2020. A total of 59 papers were obtained from electronic databases such as Scopus, search engines like Google Scholar, and publishers including Taylor and Francis, Emerald, Elsevier, and Wiley online, using a specific search criterion. Of the 59 articles, only 44 met the inclusion criteria and were included in this review. The results were organised using the theory, context, characteristics, and methods (TCCM) organising approach for systematic literature reviews. The study revealed two dominant research themes: ‘national branding campaign’ and ‘country of origin (COO). Most studies did not use any specific model and the qualitative method was the dominant research method used. The findings of this study provide a roadmap for understanding the literature on country branding and offer directions for future theory building.

AbstractChinese agriculture grapples with contemporary challenges involving resource scarcity, environmental concerns, and transformations in agricultural labor structures. This work endeavors to address these challenges and foster sustainable agricultural development by advocating the principles of agricultural green development and sustainability in China. The application principles of digital technology are first expounded alongside a discussion on the foundational concepts of fuzzy systems. Subsequently, an in-depth analysis is undertaken on the composition and trajectory of China’s agricultural total factor productivity (ATFP), culminating in the construction of a Green ATFP model. The findings illuminate the heavy reliance on labor and resources in current agricultural development, with the transformation of labor structure emerging as a pivotal factor influencing progress. Notably, the trends of feminization, aging, and urbanization in rural labor have precipitated a substantial shortage, impeding agricultural development. Furthermore, under the guidance of digital technology and fuzzy systems, this paper establishes the theoretical framework of green ATFP. Evaluation results disclose a noteworthy decrease in the contribution rates of various indicators under the Green ATFP model, with the highest contribution rate approximating 1.23. This implies that the existing measures for China’s green ATFP are still imperfect, signaling a need for greater emphasis on environmental considerations in agricultural development. This work furnishes valuable insights for advancing agricultural development and contributes significantly to the ongoing efforts in promoting the green evolution of Chinese agriculture.

Influence maximization is an important research area in social network analysis where researchers are concerned with detecting influential nodes. The detection of influential nodes is of great interest in several disciplines including computer science, opinion propagation, political movements, or economics, where systems are often modeled as graphs. The Influence Maximization problem is proved NP-hard. This computational complexity is justified by two main factors. The first factor is about the important size of social networks. Modern social networks like TikTok and Facebook have reached an unprecedented number of users. Dynamic social networks, whose topology or/and informational content is able to evolve, represent the second factor. Maximizing influence in such networks remains a significant task. In this light, several methods have been proposed. Being motivated by this fact, we provide in this paper a detailed survey of influence maximization approaches. Our main concern is to provide a taxonomy of existing models in both static and dynamic networks. In addition, we provide a comparison of the state-of-the-art approaches according to a clear categorization. New trends for detecting influential nodes are also discussed. The increasing demand for mobility in our society poses various challenges to traffic engineering, computer science in general, and artificial intelligence in particular. Increasing the capacity of road networks is not always possible, thus a more efficient use of the available transportation infrastructure is required. Another issue is that many problems in traffic management and control are inherently decentralized and/or require adaptation to the traffic situation. Hence, there is a close relationship to multiagent reinforcement learning. However, using reinforcement learning poses the challenge that the state space is normally large and continuous, thus it is necessary to find appropriate schemes to deal with discretization of the state space. To address these issues, a multiagent system with agents learning independently via a learning algorithm was proposed, which is based on estimating Q-values from k-nearest neighbors. In the present paper, we extend this approach and include transfer of experiences among the agents, especially when an agent does not have a good set of k experiences. We deal with traffic signal control, running experiments on a traffic network in which we vary the traffic situation along time, and compare our approach to two baselines (one involving reinforcement learning and one based on fixed times). In the present paper, we propose a new approach on 'distributed systems': the processes are represented through total orders and the communications are characterized by means of biorders. The resulting distributed systems capture situations met in various fields (such as computer science, economics and decision theory). We investigate questions associated to the numerical representability of order structures, relating concepts of economics and computing to each other. The concept of 'quasi-finite partial orders' is introduced as a finite family of chains with a communication between them. This paper considers how a curricular design that integrated computer programming and creative movement shaped students' engagement with computing. We draw on data from a camp for middle schoolers, focusing on an activity in which students used the programming environment NetLogo to re-represent their physical choreography. We analyze the extent to which students noticed incompatibilities (mismatches between possibilities in dance and NetLogo), and how encountering them shaped their coding. Our findings suggest that as students attended to incompatibilities, they experienced struggle, but persisted and engaged in iterative cycles of design. Boolean functions used in symmetric-key encryption should have high higher-order nonlinearity to resist several known cryptographic attacks, such as algebraic attacks and low-degree approximation attacks. The higher-order nonlinearity also plays an important role in coding theory and theoretical computer science, since it relates to the covering radius of Reed–Muller codes and the Gowers norm, respectively. It is well-known that bent functions have the highest nonlinearity in an even number of variables and thus they possess the best ability to withstand fast correlation attacks and best affine approximation attacks. However, there is currently limited knowledge regarding the higher-order nonlinearity of bent functions because computing the higher-order nonlinearity, or even providing tight lower bounds, is an extremely hard task. In 1974, Dillon proposed two well-known classes of bent functions based on partial spread (in brief, PS), called PS − and PS + , respectively. He also exhibited a subclass of bent functions in PS − , known as partial spread affine plane(PS a p for short). In this paper, we provide a lower bound on the third-order nonlinearity of the simplest PS a p bent functions in n variables, where n ≥ 6 is even, by calculating the nonlinearities of all second-order derivatives of this kind of bent functions. The concept of book embedding, originating in computer science, has found extensive applications in various problem domains. A book embedding of a graph G involves arranging the vertices of G in an order along a line and assigning the edges to one or more half-planes. The page number of a graph is the smallest possible number of half-planes for any book embedding of the graph. Determining the page number is a key aspect of book embedding and carries significant importance. This paper aims to investigate the non-trivial lower bound of the page number for both a graph G and a random graph G ∈ G (n , p) by incorporating two seemingly unrelated concepts: edge-arboricity and Euler's Formula. Our analysis reveals that for a graph G, which is not a path, p n (G) ≥ ⌈ 1 3 a 1 (G) ⌉ , where a 1 (G) denotes the edge-arboricity of G, and for an outerplanar graph, the lower bound is optimal. The large number of scientific publications around the world is increasing at a rate of approximately 4%–5% per year. This fact has resulted in the need for tools that deal with relevant and high-quality publications. To address this necessity, search and reference management tools that include some recommendation algorithms have been developed. However, many of these solutions are proprietary tools and the full potential of recommender systems is rarely exploited. There are some solutions which provide recommendations for specific domains, by using ad-hoc resources. Furthermore, some other systems do not consider any personalization strategy to generate the recommendations. This paper presents ArZiGo , a web-based full prototype system for the search, management, and recommendation of scientific articles, which feeds on the Semantic Scholar Open Research Corpus, a corpus that is growing continually with more than 190M papers from all fields of science so far. ArZiGo combines different recommendation approaches within a hybrid system, in a configurable way, to recommend those papers that best suit the preferences of the users. A group of 30 human experts has participated in the evaluation of 500 recommendations in 10 research areas, 7 of which belong to the area of Computer Science and 3 to the area of Medicine, obtaining quite satisfactory results. Academic genealogy (AG) provides valuable insights into the transmission of knowledge from mentors to mentees, revealing the evolution of knowledge within the academic community. This study explores the intricate dynamics of knowledge evolution within academic genealogies, utilizing on a dataset comprising 16,852 computer science researchers, 613,277 papers, and 11,988 mentorship relationships. By focusing on small-scale knowledge units, our analysis aims to uncover patterns of knowledge inheritance and mutation across different subfields of computer science and highlights several aspects of knowledge evolution in computer science. Firstly, computer science is characterized by strong mentorship ties, indicating the significance of knowledge transmission within the field. Additionally, there is a mix of foundational and developing areas, suggesting a field that is growing and diversifying rather than declining, as indicated by linear regression outcomes. Secondly, our research reveals a surge in collaborative knowledge exchange in computer science since 2000, with fields such as Computer-Communication Networks and Software Engineering leading in terms of output and impact. Furthermore, areas like Computer Graphics and Artificial Intelligence stand out for their depth and novelty. Thirdly, we categorize researchers into three types: roots, branches, and leaves, reflecting their role in knowledge transmission. Branch researchers tend to innovate, while leaf researchers show a combination of traditional knowledge uptake and new contributions, illustrating the dynamic flow of ideas within the field. Combinatorial optimization problem (COP) is an NP-hard problem for which finding an optimal solution is difficult, especially as the problem size increases. The Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP), one of the COPs that can be formulated over a graph, is a well-researched area in operations research and computer science. Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) is now regarded as a promising approach for solving TSP and other NP hard problems. In this paper, we propose a novel Gated Deep Graph Attention Network (G-DGANet) which builds upon the existing Graph Neural Network (GNN) to solve TSP. The proposed G-DGANet uses gating mechanism between subsequent layers of the network to extract representations of nodes deeper in the network without loss in performance. G-DGANet also designs a novel aggregator to construct global graph embeddings from different embedding preferences. In addition, to effectively learn underlying structure of a graph, G-DGANet integrates node and edge information of the graph while updating node representations in the message passing mechanism. We used proximal policy optimization (PPO) to train G-DGANet on randomly generated instances. We conducted an experiment on randomly generated instances and on real-world road network data generated from digital maps to verify the performance of G-DGANet. The findings from experiments demonstrate that G-DGANet outperforms most traditional heuristics and existing DRL approaches, with high generalization abilities from random instance training to random instance testing and real-world road network instance testing. Recent improvements in the accessibility of mapping tools and an increased recognition of the importance of leveraging data to inform public health operations has led to enthusiasm among public health departments to rapidly evolve their ability to analyze and apply data to programs. As the COVID-19 pandemic made evident, many health department data systems have been neglected for decades and data literacy among staff low. Significant federal dollars have been allocated to local health departments to modernize health systems. This case study recounts the effort to equip the Pima County Health Department with a highly sophisticated "COVID-19 Vaccines Solutions Dashboard" in 2021-2022, quantifying community vulnerability in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and shares key successes and challenges in process and outcomes that can guide other such dashboard initiatives. The experience informed the development of Pima' County Health Department's Data & Informatics Team as well as efforts to cultivate a more robust data culture throughout the department. This research paper delves into the effectiveness and impact of behavior change techniques fostered by information technologies, particularly wearables and Internet of Things (IoT) devices, within the realms of engineering and computer science. By conducting a comprehensive review of the relevant literature sourced from the Scopus database, this study aims to elucidate the mechanisms and strategies employed by these technologies to facilitate behavior change and their potential benefits to individuals and society. Through statistical measurements and related works, our work explores the trends over a span of two decades, from 2000 to 2023, to understand the evolving landscape of behavior change techniques in wearable and IoT technologies. A specific focus is placed on a case study examining the application of behavior change techniques (BCTs) for monitoring vital signs using wearables, underscoring the relevance and urgency of further investigation in this critical intersection of technology and human behavior. The findings shed light on the promising role of wearables and IoT devices for promoting positive behavior modifications and improving individuals' overall well-being and highlighting the need for continued research and development in this area to harness the full potential of technology for societal benefit. This interview was given in 2008 by Arkady Zakrevsky (1928–2014), Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (1972), Doctor of Technical Sciences (1967), and Professor (1969). In human-human and human-robot interaction, the counterpart influences the human's affective state. Contrary to humans, robots inherently cannot respond empathically, meaning non-beneficial affective reactions cannot be mitigated. Thus, to create a responsible and empathetic human-robot interaction (HRI), involving anthropomorphic service robots, the effect of robot behavior on human affect in HRI must be understood. To contribute to this understanding, we provide the new comprehensive data set AFFECT-HRI, including, for the first time, physiological data labeled with human affect (i.e., emotions and mood) gathered from a conducted HRI study. Within the study, 146 participants interacted with an anthropomorphic service robot in a realistic and complex retail scenario. The participants' questionnaire ratings regarding affect, demographics, and socio-technical ratings are provided in the data set. Five different conditions (i.e., neutral, transparency, liability, moral, and immoral) were considered during the study, eliciting different affective reactions and allowing interdisciplinary investigations (e.g., computer science, law, and psychology). The problem of finding a maximum size matching in a graph (known as the maximum matching problem) is one of the most classical problems in computer science. Despite a significant body of work dedicated to the study of this problem in the data stream model, the state-of-the-art single-pass semi-streaming algorithm for it is still a simple greedy algorithm that computes a maximal matching, and this way obtains 1 / 2 -approximation. Some previous works described two/three-pass algorithms that improve over this approximation ratio by using their second and third passes to improve the above mentioned maximal matching. One contribution of this paper continues this line of work by presenting new three-pass semi-streaming algorithms that work along these lines and obtain improved approximation ratios of 0.6111 and 0.5694 for triangle-free and general graphs, respectively. Therefore, it is interesting to come up with algorithms that do something else with their first pass (we term such algorithms non-maximal-matching-first algorithms). No such algorithms were previously known, and the main contribution of this paper is describing such algorithms that obtain approximation ratios of 0.5384 and 0.5555 in two and three passes, respectively, for general graphs. Digital data transmission and storage are indispensable components for our contemporary information-driven society. As data volumes keep increasing, the need for efficient coding schemes grows. This paper gives a novel coding scheme for generating sixteen codes from generators with quaternary codes, thereby offering a significant increase in data representation capacity, new possibilities for data encoding and decoding, and an overall improvement in the efficiency of the encoding scheme. This provides up a new perspective for numerous fields that can profit from the proposed scheme, including coding theory, computer science, modeling, and experimental design. We focus on only experimental design and modeling, due to space limits and their importance in designing and modeling real-world and scientific phenomena. The main findings indicate that the new generated sixteen codes can be used as optimal experimental designs with good space-filling behavior when designing large-scale experiments, and as efficient datasets that perform well in fitting various functions even with a small number of points and without modeling assumptions. The relationships between the codewords of the generated sixteen codes and the codewords of the generator quaternary codes are investigated. These relationships provide a benchmark by which to select the generator most efficiently, resulting in codewords that are efficient from multiple angles.
