Institutional discovery environments now serve as central resource databases for researchers in the academic environment. Over the last several decades, there have been numerous discovery layer research inquiries centering primarily on user satisfaction measures of discovery system effectiveness. This study focuses on the creation of a largely automated method for evaluating discovery layer quality, utilizing the bibliographic sources from student research projects. Building on past research, the current study replaces a semiautomated Excel Fuzzy Lookup Add-In process with a fully scripted R-based approach, which employs the stringdist R package and applies the Jaro-Winkler distance metric as the matching evaluator. The researchers consider the error rate incurred by relying solely on an automated matching metric. They also use Open Refine for normalization processes and package the tools together on an OSF site for other institutions to use. Since the R-based approach does not require special processing or time and can be reproduced with minimal effort, it will allow future studies and users of our method to capture larger sample sizes, boosting validity. While the assessment process has been streamlined and shows promise, there remain issues in establishing solid connections between research paper bibliographies and discovery layer use. Subsequent research will focus on creating alternatives to paper titles as search proxies that better resemble genuine information-seeking behavior and comparing undergraduate and graduate student interactions within discovery environments. Purpose. To provide a bibliographical-historical perspective and main interest in the field of myopia. Methods. In this bibliographic study, the Web of Science Database was searched from 1999 to 2018. Recorded parameters included journal name, impact factor, year and language, number of authors, type and origin, methodology, number of subjects, funding, and topics. Results. Epidemiological assessments were the leading type of article (28%), and half of the papers were prospective studies. The number of citations for multicenter studies was significantly higher (P = 0.034). The articles were published in 27 journals, with the majority in Investigative Ophthalmology, Vision Sciences (28%), and Ophthalmology (26%). Etiology, signs and symptoms, and treatment equally encompassed the topics. Papers addressing etiology, specifically genetic and environmental factors (P = 0.029), signs and symptoms (P = 0.001), and prevention, specifically public awareness (47%, P = 0.005), received significantly more citations. Treatment to decrease myopia progression was a much more common topic (68%) than refractive surgery (32%). Optical treatment was the most popular modality (39%). Half of the publications came from 3 countries: the United States (US), Australia, and Singapore. The highest ranked and cited papers came from the US (P = 0.028) and Singapore (P = 0.028). Conclusions. To our knowledge, this is the first report of the top-cited articles on myopia. There is a predominance of epidemiological assessments and multicenter studies originating from the US, Australia, and Singapore, assessing etiology, signs and symptoms, and prevention. These are more frequently cited, emphasizing the great interest in mapping the increase in the incidence of myopia in different countries, public health awareness, and myopia control. Research paper recommendation has been a hot research area for the last few decades. Thus far, numerous different paper recommendation approaches have been proposed. Some of these include methods based on metadata, content similarity, collaborative filtering, and citation analysis, among others. Citation analysis methods include bibliographic coupling and co-citation analysis. Much research has been done in the area of co-citation analysis. Researchers have also performed experiments using the proximity of in-text citations in co-citation analysis and have found that it improves the accuracy of paper recommendation. In co-citation analysis, the similarity is discovered based on the frequency of co-cited papers in different research papers and those citing papers may belong to different areas. However, when proximity is used to calculate co-citation, the accuracy of recommendations improves significantly. Bibliographic coupling finds bibliographic coupling strength based on the common references between two papers. In bibliographic coupling, a large number of common references of two papers means that they belong to the same area, unlike co-citation analysis, in which there is a possibility that the citing papers may belong to different areas. Based on the observation that with the use of proximity analysis the accuracy in cases of co-citation analysis has improved, this paper investigates if the accuracy of paper recommendation can be further improved by using proximity analysis in bibliographic coupling. This paper proposes an approach that extends the traditional bibliographic coupling by exploiting the proximity of in-text citations of bibliographically coupled articles. The proposed approach takes into account the proximity of in-text citations by clustering the in-text citations using a density-based algorithm called DBSCAN. Experiments on a data set of research papers are presented to show that there is a substantial increase in accuracy of the recommendations produced by DBSCAN based on proximity analysis of in-text citations compared to traditional bibliographic coupling and content-based approaches. Aim: To describe the use of bibliometrics in nursing and assess their contribution to research and practice. Design: A content analysis was conducted of topics, data sources and applications of bibliometrics in nursing research articles. Methods: The study universe included 129 bibliometric articles on nursing retrieved from Scopus. A content analysis was performed to identify the purposes and topics of the articles, the sources employed to collect the data, the time frames covered, the amounts of records surveyed, and the features of the nursing literature analysed in bibliometric papers. Results: Nursing bibliometric research revolves around six key areas: global descriptions of the nursing literature, literature on specific nursing research topics, nursing education, nursing profession, nursing research using a certain framework or method, and nursing literature published in a country or region. Studies rely on three types of sources to retrieve the surveyed literature: bibliographic databases, sets of disciplinary journals and samples of documents. Bibliometrics can be employed to advance nursing research (identification of research gaps, establishment of research agendas, assessment of methodological approaches, etc.) and practice (identification of professional competences, categorisation of professional tasks, recognition of educational improvements, etc.), suggesting new avenues for researchers who aim to conduct further bibliometric research in the field. Further research is needed to assess the coverage of the nursing literature by new bibliographic data sources and to explore unaddressed topics such as gender imbalance in authorship. The High Quality Science Index (HQSI) was constructed on the basis of the release of the Essential Science Indicators (Thomson Reuters) for the period from January 1, 2002 to August 31, 2012. The HQSI was computed for a country or territory as a sum of normalised scores of the mean impact (citations per paper) and the percentage of papers that reach the top-1% citation ranking. Expectedly, countries or territories that are producing larger Gross National Income per capita and allocate higher percentage of the produced economic wealth for the research and development (R&D) were more likely to achieve prominence in the scientific publications. The size of the country and its population were not important factors to excel in scientific research. Since economic and socio-demographic factors only partly predicted the quality of science in a given country or territory, there is considerable space for historical and science policy factors that could affect the quality of science in a given country. Several countries being in almost identical starting positions twenty years ago have developed on completely different trajectories dependent on policies and decisions made by their policy makers. Nowadays, measuring the quality and quantity of the scientific production is an important necessity since almost every research assessment decision depends, to a great extent, upon the scientific merits of the involved researchers. To do that, many different indicators have been proposed in the literature. Two main bibliometric procedures to explore a research field have been defined: performance analysis and science mapping. On the one hand, performance analysis aims at evaluating groups of scientific actors (countries, universities, departments, researchers) and the impact of their activity on the basis of bibliographic data. On the other hand, the extraction of knowledge from the intellectual, social or conceptual structure of a research field could be done by means of science mapping analysis based on bibliographic networks. In this paper, we introduce some of the most important techniques and software tools to analyze the impact of a research field and its scientific structures. Particularly, four bibliometric indices (h, g, hg and q2), the h-classics approach to identify the classic papers of a research field and three free science mapping software tools (CitNetExplorer, SciMAT and VOSViewer) are shown. Usability is a qualitative characteristic that evaluates the ease of use of user interfaces. This study aims to conduct a systematic bibliometric analysis of usability testing and to understand the research context and trends in this field. A total of 5273 scientific publications from the Web of Science core collection were included in the study. Performance analysis, scientific mapping, and visualization were done using the RStudio package and the VOSviewer software tool. The results show that the interest in the area of usability testing has significantly increased, especially from 1991 to 2022. The United States has the highest number of publications, citations, co-citations, and ratios. Toronto University was top in terms of institutional contributions. The JMIR mHealth and uHealth led in the number of publications and citations. Khajouei has the highest number of publications, but Jaspers has received the most citations on usability testing. With 10264 total link strength, Nielsen has the most potent co-citation papers. This study reveals the latest research trends and hotspots and the current state of international collaboration in usability testing research, to indicate the most influential research channels. These findings include; the prominent countries, institutions, journals, original articles, and authors. To the best of the author's knowledge, this study is the first of its kind to conduct the bibliometric analysis on usability testing. Background: Libraries provide access to databases with auto-cite features embedded into the services; however, the accuracy of these auto-cite buttons is not very high in humanities and social sciences databases. Case Presentation: This case compares two biomedical databases, Ovid MEDLINE and PubMed, to see if either is reliable enough to confidently recommend to students for use when writing papers. A total of 60 citations were assessed, 30 citations from each citation generator, based on the top 30 articles in PubMed from 2010 to 2020. Conclusions: Error rates were higher in Ovid MEDLINE than PubMed but neither database platform provided error-free references. The auto-cite tools were not reliable. Zero of the 60 citations examined were 100% correct. Librarians should continue to advise students not to rely solely upon citation generators in these biomedical databases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

WE USED BIBLIOMETRIC ANALYSIS TO evaluate the citations associated with publications by trainees in the Fogarty International Center's International Research Ethics Education and Curriculum Development program. Papers published between 2004 and 2008 were identified for analysis. The outcome measures were total citations, h-index, and i-10. A total of 328 manuscripts were identified, with a yearly average of 66 publications and 363 citations. The median number of citations per paper is 3 (IQR Q1-Q3:6). 12.6% (n = 53) of papers were cited over 10 times and the h-index is 22, indicating that 22 papers had been cited at least 22 times. The data indicate that trainees have been productive and contributed to the scholarly literature. Future studies to benchmark this performance with other bioethics education programs are required to make interpretation of citation analysis more meaningful. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Citation analyses in archaeology have detected prestige tactics, shifts in research agendas, and patterns of gender differentiation. This paper focuses on self-citation in archaeology and systematically analyzes the factors that affect rates of self-citation. Self-citation rates in archaeology are significantly higher than in socio-cultural anthropology but are average for a social science with interdisciplinary ties to the physical sciences. Self-citation correlates weakly with the gender of the citing author and the geographic and thematic focus of research, but correlates strongly with the age of the author. Additional analyses reveal partial evidence for the use of self-citation as a prestige tactic. The paper concludes with a discussion of citations to writers close to the author (mentors, friends). Purpose - This paper aims to question the dominance of citation metrics in the evaluation of the impact of research and prompt debate on how to evaluate impact in different contexts. Design/methodology/approach - The paper takes the form of a viewpoint and review of how metrics are used currently and presents recommendations for change. Findings - Whilst recognising the continued relevance and importance of citation as a measure of impact, the paper highlights how this measure overshadows all other types of impact (on practice, teaching, public policy, society) and, in turn, has the potential to distort academic research practice. Research limitations/implications - Additional research should follow to identify other methods of evaluating research impact with a specific emphasis on the development of usage metrics. Practical implications - The paper calls on all parties within the research dissemination process (academics, publishers, funding bodies) to formulate new ways of evaluating research. The study explores citation pattern of the 4112 articles in the field of chemical engineering published from 1974 to 2018 and indexed in Web of Science. Apart from good quality research, a number of other factors may be responsible for citing and not citing an article. The study has also tried to explore such factors. Only the top 500 articles with the most number of citations have been analysed in-depth. The countries like United States of America (USA), China, Germany, United Kingdom (UK), France, Canada, India, Japan, Spain, Russia and Brazil have the highest number of articles. The investigators calculated Pearson correlation between the number of keywords, pages, references and citations and it showed that there is no relationship between the number of keywords and number of citations. The article presents a study examine development trajectory of bibliographic coupling research from 1963 to 2020. Topics discussed include coupling strength of bibliographic coupling refers to the number of times a single document is cited by two target document; current state-of-the-art bibliographic coupling developed, as of March 2022; and the theory and practice of bibliographic coupling from 1963 to 1973.

Researchers from diverse disciplines have examined the many factors that contribute to the influence of published research papers. Such influence dynamics are in essence a marketing of science issue. In this paper, we propose that in addition to known established, overt drivers of influence such as journal, article, author, and Matthew effects, a latent factor 'citability' influences the eventual impact of a paper. Citability is a mid-range latent variable that captures the changing relationship of an article to a field. Our analysis using a discretized Tobit model with hidden Markov processes suggests that there are two states of citability, and these dynamic states determine eventual influence of a paper. Prior research in marketing has relied on models where the various effects such as author and journal effects are deemed static. Unlike ours, these models fail to capture the continuously evolving impact dynamics of a paper and the differential effect of the various drivers that depend on the latent state a paper is in at any given point of time. Our model also captures the impact of uncitedness, which other models fail to do. Our model is estimated using articles published in seven leading marketing journals during the years 1996-2003. Purpose – After the official definition of Open Educational Resources (OER) at the Forum on Open Courseware for Higher Education in Developing Countries in 2002, the concept was soon introduced to China and popularised among scholars, practitioners, and educators. After ten years of proliferation, it is important to explore the landscape of Chinese OER research. The paper aims to discuss these issues. Design/methodology/approach – This paper adopts social network analysis (SNA) to analyse the network defining the citations of 133 OER journal articles published in China. Findings – The findings illustrate that the academic circle of OER in China is small, which leads to restricted innovation. Most publications are produced by researchers working at comprehensive universities and normal universities (teachers colleges). Research limitations/implications – In these universities, a number of active OER researchers are emerging, but no OER research team can be identified from their citation networks. Currently, most OER research is still descriptive research, and only few case studies are being to gradually be conducted. Practical implications – As the Chinese OER research is still in the initial stage, more research projects in OER need to be explored to construct higher quality and more influential open content to achieve deep openness. This study aims to compare the characteristics of citation disciplinary structure between the G7 countries and the BRICS countries. In this contribution, which uses about 1 million Web of Science publications and two publications years (1993 and 2013), we compare the G7 countries and the BRICS countries with regard to this type of structure. For the publication year 2013, cosine similarity values regarding the citation disciplinary structures of these countries (and of nine other countries) were used as input to cluster analysis. We also obtained cosine similarity values for a given country and its citation disciplinary structures across the two publication years. Moreover, for the publication year 2013, the within-country Jeffreys-Matusita distance between publication and citation disciplinary structure was measured. First, the citation disciplinary structures of countries depend on multiple and complex factors. It is therefore difficult to completely explain the formation and change of the citation disciplinary structure of a country. This study suggests some possible causes, whereas detailed explanations might be given by future research. Second, the length of the citation window used in this study is three years. However, scientific disciplines differ in their citation practices. Comparison between citations across disciplines using the same citation window length may affect the citation discipline structure results for some countries. First, the results of this study are based on the WoS database. However, in this database some fields are covered to a greater extent than others, which may affect the results for the citation discipline structure for some studied countries. In future research, we might repeat this study using another database (like Scopus) and, in that case, we would like to make comparisons between the two outcomes. Second, the use of a constant journal set yielded that a large share of the journals covered by WoS year 2013 is ignored in the study. Thus, disciplinary structure is studied based on a quite restricted set of publications. The three mentioned limitations should be kept in mind when the results of this study are interpreted. Disciplinary structure on country level is a highlighted topic for the S&T policy makers, especially for those come from developing countries. This study observes the disciplinary structure in the view of academic impact, and the result will provide some evidence to make decision for the discipline strategy and funding allocation. Besides, Jeffreys-Matusita distance is introduced to measure the similarity of citation disciplinary structure and publication disciplinary structure. By applying this measure, some new observations were drawn, for example, "Based on the comparison of publication disciplinary structure and citation disciplinary structure, the paper finds most BRICS counties have less impact with more publications". The outcome of the cluster analysis indicates that the G7 countries and BRICS countries are quite heterogeneous regarding their citation disciplinary structure. For a majority of the G7 countries, the citation disciplinary structure tend to be more stable compared to BRICS countries with regard to the years 1993 and 2013. Most G7 countries, with United States as an exception, turned out to have lower values on the Jeffreys-Matusita distance than BRICS countries, indicating a higher degree of heterogeneity between the publication and the citation disciplinary structure for the latter countries. In other words, BRICS countries still receive much less citations in most disciplines than their publication output would suggest. G7 countries can still expect more citations than is to be expected based on their publication output, thereby generating relatively more impact than BRICS countries. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To identify and analyze the 50 most-cited gastroenterology and hepatology articles originating from mainland China. Methods: We utilized the 2015 edition of Journal Citation Reports and PubMed to determine the 50 mostcited gastroenterology and hepatology articles from 75 professional journals and four leading journals in clinical medicine, which are The New England Journal of Medicine, The Lancet, The Journal of the American Medical Association, and The British Medical Journal. Then we excluded the articles written outside mainland China and collected the basic information, including the title, authors, year of publication, source journal, city, institution, number of citations, and topic of the research. Results: The number of citations for the top 50 papers ranged from 279 to 89 (mean, 129). These articles were published between 2005 and 2012, in which 2009 was the year with the largest number of highly cited papers(13). All articles were published in 15 journals. The journal Hepatology published the largest number of articles(21), followed by Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology(4), Journal of Hepatology(4) and World Journal of Gastroenterology(4). The top 50 articles originated mainly from Shanghai(20), Guangzhou(13) and Beijing(6). Sun Yat-sen University produced most highly cited papers(10). The number of basic research was far more than clinical research, of which the ratio was about 1.78(32:18). In all these articles, hepatocellular carcinoma was the most-discussed topic(19), followed by hepatitis B virus(8) and endoscopic(5). Conclusions: Although a large gap remains between mainland China and the global community, the gastroenterology and hepatology research from China is gradually recognized by the world. The purpose of this paper is to gain a deeper understanding of the nexus between the exponential increase in research productivity, the use of citation counts as a measure of scientific impact, the ethics of research, and the extent to which research is manipulative. The theory that we shall seek to elaborate here puts considerable emphasis on the form and content of research, the increasing regulation of scientific research, and citations as indicator of scientific impact. Prior research has suggested that providing free and discounted access to the scientific literature to researchers in low-income countries increases article production and citation. Using traditional bibliometric indicators for institutions in sub-Saharan Africa, we analyze whether institutional access to TEEAL (a digital collection of journal articles in agriculture and allied subjects) increases: (i) article production; (ii) reference length; and (iii) number of citations to journals included in the TEEAL collection. Our analysis is based on nearly 20,000 articles - containing half a million references - published between 1988 and 2009 at 70 institutions in 11 African countries. We report that access to TEEAL does not appear to result in higher article production, although it does lead to longer reference lists (an additional 2.6 references per paper) and a greater frequency of citations to TEEAL journals (an additional 0.4 references per paper), compared to non-subscribing institutions. To study library guides, as published on Springshare's LibGuides platform, new approaches are needed to expand the scope of the research, ensure comprehensiveness of data collection, and reduce bias for content analysis. Computational methods can be utilized to conduct a nuanced and thorough evaluation that critically assesses the resources promoted in library guides. Web-based library guides are curated by librarians to provide easy access to high-quality information and resources in a variety of formats to support the research needs of their users. Recent scholarship considers library guides as valuable resources and as de facto publications, highlighting the need for critical study. In this article, the authors present a novel model for comprehensively gathering data about a specific genre of books from individual LibGuide pages and applying computational methods to explore the resultant data. Beginning with a pre-selected list of 159 books, we programmatically queried the titles using the LibGuides Community search engine. After cleaning and filtering the resultant data, we compiled a list of 20,484 book references (of which 6,212 are unique) on 1,529 LibGuide pages. By testing against inclusion and exclusion criteria to ensure relevancy, we identified a total of 281 titles relevant to our topic. To gain insights for future study, citation analysis metrics are presented to reveal patterns of frequency, co-occurrence, and bibliographic coupling of books promoted in LibGuides. This proof-of-concept could be adopted for a variety of applications, including assessment of collections, public services, critical librarianship, and other complex questions to enable a richer and more thorough understanding of the information landscape of LibGuides. Background. As the field of transplantation has expanded, so have the quantity and variety of articles published on the topic. Evaluation of publications and journals is crucial to the expansion of transplant research. This study investigated the research output and journal metrics of the leading solid organ transplant journals published between 2011 and 2021 based on estimations of the trends in the category CiteScore from the Scopus database. Materials and Methods. We obtained data on the listed journals from the Scopus Source List. We then filtered the list for "Transplantation" journals. Only the top quartiles or quartile 1 (Q1) journals were placed in this category. This study focused specifically on transplantation journals and did not include other journals related to diseases of transplanted organs such as the kidney, liver, heart, and lungs. Results. The number of transplantation journals increased by 42.8% in the last ten years, from 28 in 2011 to 40 in 2021. Between 2011 and 2021, nine transplantation journals ranked in the highest quartile (Q1). The American Journal of Transplantation was the top journal in both years, with a 150% increase in citations and an 11.2% increase in articles published. Open access (OA) transplant journals rose from 3 in 2011 to 10 in 2021. In 2021, OA journals earned 8,555 citations, a 125% increase from 2011. Purpose The purpose of this paper is to present a general overview of the most influential countries according to their scientific contributions in marketing for the 1990–2014 period. In this bibliometric-based research, the authors generate a ranking of the 50 most influential nations according to the H-index and citations per paper, co-authorship, citation analysis and bibliographic coupling. The study provides a map that identifies the networks of researchers between countries.Design/methodology/approach The method used is bibliometric analysis. The relevant research in marketing was extracted from Web of Science Database Core Collection, during the 1990–2014 period; 29,947 published articles in 50 countries were obtained. The investigation used: H-index as the first criterion in creating the country ranking, number of articles (TP) as a proxy for the productivity of each country, the average citation per article (C/P) and the number of citations (TC) to express the influence of a country’s articles. In addition, the study adopts VOSviewer software to identify the collaboration networks of researchers between countries and the links between countries.Findings The results reveal a general level that 54 percent of countries have a category H-index greater than 20. In turn, the authors see a steady increase in the number of publications over the five-year periods. The first ten countries account for over 80 percent of all publications of the sample. The USA is presented here as the leader in all indicators and highlights the important role that China has been developing.Research limitations/implications Several limitations of the study result from the use of the Web of Science database. For example, each journal, author, university and/or country involved in a specific paper is considered a single unit. Therefore, in research papers with more than one author or with authors from different universities and/or countries, only the lead author is considered in the analysis. In addition, the study does not include new trends in publications between 2014 and 2018. However, there are other databases that could have been used such as: Scopus, Google Scholar, among others.Practical implications The findings are relevant for students, academics, organizations and governments, which may use this information for decision making on future research, identifying countries concerning the area and their relationships.Originality/value This paper shows progress and contribution of the most influential countries according to their scientific contribution in marketing during the period 1990–2014. This research is relevant because until now there has been no study with the sole purpose of ranking countries according to their marketing publications. In this sense, the study is useful to academics, publishers, educational institutions or other interested in marketing. The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between traditional citation indexes representing hot papers in the field of "Clinical Medicine" and their bookmarking and readership in "Mendeley software". The citation counts of hot papers were extracted from Essential Science Indicators (ESI) and Web of Science (WoS). As an applied research adopting a descriptive-exploratory method, the present study used the Essential Science Indicators to retrieve hot articles published between 2014 and 2016, indexed in the category "Medical Sciences". Each record was then searched in Mendeley to obtain the number of readership of the paper and the academic status of the users. The results showed a significant positive correlation between Mendeley readership and citation indexes in both ESI and WoS. Moreover, the most frequently-cited articles in both databases attracted more readers in Mendeley than lowly-cited publications and both hypotheses were confirmed. Moreover, the findings revealed that Mendeley users had assigned a total number of 3847 tags to the hot papers, with the tags ranging in frequency from zero to 38 for individual articles. Compared with author keywords and Plus, about 10 percent of users' tags were either meaningless or repetitive. The value of present study shows that "Mendeley Sofware" with the possibility of tagging articles, can be used to create a searchable folksonomy of information and as a source of data in information retrieval studies, help professionals to manage their literatures and make their research life easier. Citation analysis of the Dialogue was conducted to get knowledge about the citation pattern; the most cited documents; references per article; references per year and proposed quantification for the documents published from 2014 to 2016. The quantitative approach was adopted for this study. The website of Dialogue was used for obtaining metadata about the research papers published during 2014- 2016. Google Scholar citation instead of Journal Citation Report was used for the calculation of proposed Impact Factor (IF). The major findings of the study reflect that the proposed calculated Cite Score of the Dialogue for the mentioned period is 0.14 whereas the proposed self-calculated Impact Factor is 0.22. The citation rate of documents published in 2014 was recorded more as compared to the rest of the years. The citation rate should be improved by the inclusion of Dialogue in indexing databases of international repute. Researchers in all academic disciplines benefit from an understanding of the intellectual development of their field. This understanding is essential for conducting studies which build systematically on prior research. The purpose of this study is to document the intellectual development of the ideas represented by published research in Management Information Systems (MIS) based on an author co-citation analysis. The resulting mapping is intended to serve as a benchmark for future assessments of MIS as a field as well as a means for documenting the emergence of new research specialties. The study sought to identify (1) the subfields which constitute MIS research, (2) the reference disciplines of these subfields, (3) the diffusion of the ideas represented by these subfields to other disciplines, and (4) which of these subfields represent active areas of current MIS research. Nine invisible colleges, or informal clusters of research were uncovered. These nine empirically defined conceptual groupings collectively define the intellectual foundations of MIS as well as the forces currently shaping MIS research. Four of the clusters represent early MIS research themes which are still popular, based on subsequent citation patterns. Despite the centrality of the concept of the organization to widely-accepted definitions of MIS, the results suggest that MIS research is not wellgrounded in organization theory nor have MIS research results been widely diffused in the organizational literature. This paper ranks systems faculties, accounting doctoral programs, individual accounting systems researchers, and the most influential accounting systems articles based on Google Scholar citations to publications in the Journal of Information Systems (JIS). All articles published in JIS for its first 25 years of existence are included and four citation metrics are used. Information is presented over three time periods (1986-1993, 1994-2001, and 2002-2010) to provide additional insights on changes over time. The study also analyzes the content and research methods of "most cited" articles and describes trends in the types of systems research that have had the greatest impact. Findings suggest that JIS's impact has consistently improved over time. The H-index for JIS also suggests that the journal compares favorably among its peers. A correlation analysis between the four citation metrics and the number of articles published in JIS provides evidence that counting articles published is a reasonable proxy for the influence or significance of authors. Potential doctoral students with an interest in accounting information systems, new Ph.D.s with an interest in accounting information systems, current accounting information systems faculty, department chairs, deans, and other administrators will find these results informative. Aims: To conduct a bibliometric analysis of papers published by the RELIEVE journal in the last 15 years. Considered papers were indexed by the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), which is a new Web of Science (WOS) database that aims to correct the poor coverage of national journals in some countries. Methods: Data source: 195 RELIEVE articles indexed according to the ESCI. Some 7,408 citations included in these 195 papers were analyzed. A total of 599 relevant citations recorded by the journal were also analyzed. Topics covered by the journal were also studied. For this purpose, author-keywords from the 195 papers were merged and analyzed using the VOSviewer software tool. Results: Papers included an average of 38.19 ± 6.5 citations. The authors and journals cited were mainly Spanish but a significant proportion of foreign impact journals (40%) were also found. The references cited in RELIEVE came almost exclusively from Spanish journals included in WOS in the education and educational research categories. The majority of published papers also came from Spanish institutions (75.6%), particularly the universities of Valencia and Granada. Most citations came from research papers published in Spanish journals. Amongst the research topics to have occupied the pages of RELIEVE, those related to higher education and PISA most stood out. Conclusions: The citations identified reveal appropriate consumption of international scientific literature by the publishing authors. However, these citations also highlighted a strong focus in published research on local issues and, as a consequence, this research is not highly considered by researchers from other countries. At the moment, RELIEVE's presence in ESCI-WOS has not yet been translated into gains regarding reduced research isolation and has failed to mobilize its international incorporation in terms of a more global impact. The New Review project investigated how to improve students' information searching skills and the resulting reference lists through a new approach to teaching the literature review. This paper reports on one element of this study, which analysed reference lists from 47 final-year projects written by Civil & Building Engineering undergraduate students (BEng and MSc). It finds a strong positive correlation between the literature review mark and overall mark for each project, as well as a slightly weaker correlation between the number of references cited and the mark received. An analysis of the number, age, and type of references cited is performed in addition to an investigation into the quality of the bibliographic citations themselves. Background: Ferroptosis is a crucial pathogenic mechanism in Parkinson's disease, offering significant potential for pharmacological intervention. Despite its importance, the number of bibliometric analyses examining the relationship between ferroptosis and Parkinson's disease remains limited. This study aims to elucidate the knowledge structure and primary research focuses within this field using various bibliometric tools search. Materials and methods: We conducted a comprehensive literature son ferroptosis in Parkinson's disease using the Web of Science Core Collection database. Bibliometric analyses and visualizations were performed with VOSviewer, examining the geographical and institutional distribution of publications, journal interconnections, and keyword prevalence. Furthermore, CiteSpace was used to visually explore and analyze journal interactions and citation dynamics. The bibliometrix R package facilitated the delineation of collaborative networks across different countries and the construction of visual network representations illustrating relationships among authors, keywords, and journals. Data visualization was further enhanced with Microsoft Office Excel 2021. Results: Recently, there has been a significant increase in publications on ferroptosis, with China emerging as a leading contributor in this research area. Keyword analysis highlights the critical role of ferroptosis in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease, identifying GPX4 as a key enzyme mitigating lipid peroxidation. This study also elucidates the connections and distinctions between ferroptosis and other cell death processes such as apoptosis, autophagy, and pyroptosis. Current research primarily focuses on immunotherapy, prognosis, oxidative stress, lipid peroxidation, and the tumor microenvironment. Conclusion: This study provides a comprehensive initial analysis of the research landscape, identifying current focal points and potential future directions for ferroptosis research in Parkinson's disease. This paper analyses the citation profiles (CP) of 130 researchers in fractional calculus. In a first phase, the Canberra distance is used to measure the similarities between the researchers' CP, and the multidimensional scaling technique (MDS) is adopted for processing and visualizing the information. In a second phase, the gamma probability distribution is used to fit the normalized CP and the gamma parameters are used to characterize the researchers. This article presents a bibliometric analysis of the periodical "The Scandinavian Journal of Work, Environment & Health." Scientific journals are compared in relation to their ability to produce citations, and the impact factor, although widely criticized, has been adopted as a measure of citation rate.

The author discusses 10 simple rules for responsible referencing. Bibliometric constructions of "knowledge maps" and "cognitive structures of science" do not differentiate between impact and influence factors. The difference can be constructed according to different meaning and interpretation of the terms reference and citation. Reference is "acknowledgment which one author gives to another", whereas citation is "acknowledgment which one document receives from another". Development of Information Science according to period and subject area is analyzed on the corpus of citation literature retrieved from doctoral dissertations in Information Science from 1978 to 2007 at Croatian universities. The research aim is to indicate the difference between document impact factor and author's influence factor (i.e. reference ability to produce effects on actions, behavior, and opinions of authors of doctoral theses). The influence factor serves to distinguish the key role of cited authors in time and according to the duration of the influence (the average age for cited papers of dominant authors in different periods is between eight and ten years). The difference between linear and interactive communication seems vital for the interpretation of cited half-life, i.e. the attitude of one science community towards used information resources and cognitive heritage. The analyzed corpus of 22,210 citations can be divided into three communication phases according to influence factor criteria: in the phase of dialogue and interactive communication 25% of bibliographic units are cited in the first four years; in the second phase another 25% of units are cited from the fifth to the ninth year; after ten years, in the dominant linear communication phase, approximately 30% of units are cited. An analysis of 4165 papers published during 2005-2014 on male breast cancer and indexed by Science Citation Index-Expanded indicates that the publication output in this nascent field is increasing steadily. The output is scattered among 91 countries, and USA ranks first in the publication output as well as impact in terms of citations per paper (CPP) and relative citation impact (RCI). The global compound annual growth rate during the period of study is 6.2. Change in transformative activity index is highest for the People's Republic of China (PRC). However, impact of research output is low for PRC. The research output is highly scattered in terms of prolific institutions, authors and journals publishing research results. Most of the prolific institutions are located in USA. Among the prolific institutions, the highest value of CPP and RCI was for Massachusetts General Hospital (USA), and among authors the highest value of CPP and RCI was for Thompson D. from the University of Cambridge (England). This article presents a citation analysis of papers published between 1909 and 1954 by two ceased journals covering the abandoned field of eugenics. The aim of the study was to investigate the visible signs of current scientific impact of these old papers and find out if they are significant for reasons other than historical referencing. Our survey involved a three-stage citation analysis using the Web of Science Core Collection and content analysis of the citing papers. The citation counts were collected and classified by the citing years. Papers that had 25 or more citations from 2000 to 2014 were selected for further analysis and examined for their citations in 2014. This produced 941 papers citing 24 papers published between 1915 and 1954, 23 of which were published by the Annals of Eugenics, and one by the Eugenics Review. Four of the cited articles accounted for 87 percent of all citations received. Due to not all citing papers (941) published in 2014 were available in full text, only 70 percent of them were analysed using content analysis technique to examine and classify the reasons for citing. The findings suggest that these old journals left a strong scientific imprint with papers whose impact has been increased in the last decades. They were less cited because of the scientific problems they addressed at the time of publishing. In contrast, these papers were cited due to their innovative research methodologies that have become valuable instruments in many scientific disciplines that emerged later. This paper analyses the scholarly contribution of S R Ranganathan as reflected in Google Scholar Citations, Web of Science, and Scopus. This paper also identifies popularity of his published works, particularly which are highly referred by the researchers and LIS curriculum designers. His top three highly cited books are namely Prolegomena to Library Classification, The Five Laws of Library Science, and Colon Classification. His top three highly referred journal articles are titled "Hidden Roots of Classification", "Subject Heading and Facet Analysis", and "Colon Classification Edition 7 (1971): A Preview". This paper identifies the articles that cited his works extensively and got considerable citations from the other researchers. Top citing journal articles are namely "The Need for a Faceted Classification as the Basis of All Methods of Information Retrieval", "Ranganathan and the Net: Using Facet Analysis to Search and Organise the World Wide Web" and "Grounded Classification: Grounded Theory and Faceted Classification". These citing articles also indicate that Ranganathan is very relevant to today's researchers in interdisciplinary areas, particularly which belong to the fields of computer applications and information systems.
