Introduction: Oro‐control communication is one of the complications associated with dental extraction and oral surgeries. This case report presents a minimally invasive surgical approach for bone regeneration at the site of oro‐antral communication utilizing a prefabricated computer‐aided design and computer‐aided manufacturing (CAD‐CAM) allogenic bone block. Methods: A 20‐year‐old healthy female, nonsmoker, with a badly destructed upper right first molar was referred for dental implant placement after extraction. Cone beam computerized tomography images revealed the presence of a large bone defect associated with oro‐antral communication with the maxillary sinus and insufficient bone for dental implant placement. A prefabricated CAD‐CAM allogenic bone scaffold was fabricated. After surgical exposure, the scaffold was secured in place and covered with a non‐resorbable membrane. A dental implant was placed after 5 months, and a trephining biopsy was processed for histological evaluation. Results: Closure of the oro‐antral communication was clinically observed. The average width of the alveolar bone was 12 mm, and the average height was 11 mm. Histological analysis at 5‐month intervals showed thin newly formed bone trabeculae encircling remnants of graft material surrounded by osteoid tissue. The newly formed bone percentages were 32 ± 18% and 28 ± 17% volume remained after the biodegradation of the scaffold. Specific immune‐histochemical staining by anti‐vascular epithelial growth factor expression index value was 32.06%. Conclusions: A prefabricated CAD‐CAM scaffold was successfully used to seal a large oro‐antral communication and regenerate sufficient bone to place a dental implant. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study examines the relationship between citizens' satisfaction with government COVID-19 communication and management (SWCCM) and institutional trust. By employing a longitudinal approach, using three-wave panel data from Sweden from 2020 to 2022, the study addresses the current lack of research on the interplay between SWCCM and institutional trust across different stages of a societal crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic. The results show that SWCCM increased slightly over the pandemic period, while trust in institutions slightly decreased. The study also finds that changes in SWCCM predict changes in trust in institutions, suggesting that increased satisfaction with communication and management is associated with increased trust in institutions. Additionally, we find that higher initial levels of SWCCM contribute to a faster decline in trust over time. However, no evidence supports the idea that initial trust in institutions predicts changes in SWCCM. This suggests a unidirectional relationship where SWCCM is a key driver of institutional trust during a crisis. Overall, the study uncovers intriguing dynamics in the relationship between SWCCM and trust over time, and it emphasizes the significance of effective and consistent communication and management in maintaining and boosting public trust during crisis. The main objective of this study was to identify editorial practices related to time management in Spanish Communication journals and determine whether their time management is homogeneous, as well as to evaluate which journals are more agile, discover the differences between general and special issues, and identify practices that could streamline the publication process. To this end, we worked with an exploratory‐type methodology focused on content analysis. The sample analysed included 1,581 articles published in 2021 by the 62 Communication journals included in the Índice Dialnet de Revistas (IDR) 2020, differentiating between those published in general and special issues, with the aim of focusing attention on the time elapsed from when journals receive articles until their final publication. The results reveal little homogeneity in policies regarding information on dates and confirms average times of more than 6 months for the duration of the process, with the publication process for special issues being more agile. The strength of this work lies in the demonstration of the need to work on common policies that enable the publication process to be streamlined while accelerating the availability of research results for the benefit of academia as well as society. In underground environments, survey elements such as survey points and observations provide the information required to define legal boundaries. These elements are also used to connect underground legal spaces to a geodetic survey network. Due to the issues of current 2D approaches for managing underground cadastral data, prominent 3D data models have been extended to support underground land administration. However, previous studies mostly focused on defining underground legal spaces and boundaries, with less emphasis on survey elements. This research aims to extend CityGML to support underground cadastral survey data. The proposed extension is based on the survey elements elicited from underground cadastral plans, which is then implemented for an underground case study area in Melbourne, Australia. This extension integrates underground survey data with legal and physical data in a 3D digital environment and provides an improved representation of survey elements, facilitating the management and communication of underground cadastral survey data. Device‐to‐Device (D2D) communication is one of the leading technologies which works under the aegis of fifth generation (5G) communication for the Internet of Things in Healthcare. In D2D communication, power control with resource allocation is the most challenging area for the research to make them suitable for IoT devices. In the present work, power control with resource allocation is done by using the Linear pricing game power allocation method. First, a mathematical min‐function based problem is proposed whilst taking the interference, data rate and minimum power requirement as a constraint to ensure the resource and power allocation. In the next phase, a linear pricing game (LPG) method is utilized to propose the LPG power control with resource allocation (L‐PaRAG). Mathematical analysis and theorem ensure the minimum cost function with global stability for an optimal solution of the proposed problem. Numerical analysis and results show that the proposed algorithm gives the best results for power control and resource management whilst managing the interference to maintain the quality of services (QoS) in D2D communication. The present study examines the discourse of the then Greek Prime Minister, Alexis Tsipras, following the 2018 July wildfire disaster in the Eastern Attica suburbs including Mati to reveal the frames employed by the main protagonist utilizing existing framing models while also incorporating the notions of ethic of care and strategic ambiguity. The then government received extensive criticism by the media and political opponents in regard to the management and communication responses of the then Prime Minister. A content analysis was conducted to the statements made by the then Prime Minister. Findings indicate that Tsipras during the initial stages of the crisis acknowledged the extent of crisis while also emphasizing the successful crisis response efforts. Moreover, strategic ambiguity along with low levels of "caring" were important elements of Tsipras' narrative at the initial stage. As the public outrage and criticism intensified, Tsipras incorporated a more caring profile and presented the disaster as a "critical opportunity" by shifting the blame to previous governments and proposing policy changes. To innovate at work is risky as every new endeavour is also error‐prone. Therefore, the way errors are managed in organisations may be related to organisations' innovativeness. We studied error management culture as one important and often overlooked organisational culture factor hypothesised to be related to organisational and individual innovativeness. Error management culture implies that a firm accepts that people make errors and uses “organizational practices related to communicating about errors, to sharing error knowledge, to helping in error situations, and to quickly detecting and handling errors” to deal with errors (Van Dyck, Frese, Baer, & Sonnentag, , p. 1229). Our sample consists of 30 companies with N = 227 employees. To decrease the problem of common method variance, we split the samples within each company into two subsamples: one subsample was used for the measurement of error management culture and the other one for the measure of organisational innovativeness. A multilevel structural equation modelling (MSEM) analysis showed error management culture to be related to organisational and individual innovativeness. Organisational innovativeness was a mediator for the relationship between error management culture and individual innovativeness. To perform requirements elicitation and analysis, effective communication and collaboration between stakeholders are necessary. Global Software Development (GSD), where software teams are located in different parts of the world, has become increasingly popular. However, geographical distance, cultural diversity, differences in time zones, and language barriers create difficulties for GSD stakeholders in engaging in effective communication. Taking into consideration the factors involved in GSD, previous research showed that the ways by which requirements are gathered and analyzed for collocated software development cannot be used effectively for GSD. Thus, in this paper, we present a method of requirements elicitation and analysis for GSD. The method consists of 4 stages: (1) data collection; (2) educating stakeholders about GSD issues; (3) post-education assessment; and (4) requirements elicitation and analysis. Past researchers used student groups in a university environment to play the roles of stakeholders in experiments in GSD studies. Likewise, we preliminarily validate our method by applying it to a case study of an online shopping system, where the roles of client, requirements engineer, project analyst, and designers were played by a group of students. The management of recreational fisheries benefits from good collaboration between scientists, managers and recreational fishers. However, the level of collaboration largely depends on the levels of effective communication among the different stakeholders. This paper presents the views of scientists, managers and fishers concerning the quality of communication in eleven case studies of recreational fisheries. Case studies were synthesised and common reasons why communication did not always flow as intended were identified. The prevalent barriers to good communication, and therefore collaboration included a lack of rigorous scientific information transfer from scientists to fishers and managers, a fear from fishers that management actions will limit fishing opportunities, pre-existing antagonism between commercial and recreational fisheries, and fishers' suspicion of science. This article uses experimental data to test for a complementary relationship between formal regulations imposed on a community to conserve a local natural resource and nonbinding verbal agreements to do the same. Our experiments were conducted in the field in three regions of Colombia. Our results suggest that the hypothesis of a complementary relationship between communication and external regulation is supported for some combinations of regions and regulations but cannot be supported in general. We conclude that the determination of whether formal regulations and informal communication are complementary must be made on a community-by-community basis. We study the conflict that can occur in a merger due to firms' use of specialized language, or “code,” and whether participants accurately forecast this difficulty. After creating a shared code to describe different pictures accurately, subjects bid for extra payments to join a merged group. The two lowest bidders are placed in the merged group. The field of reputation management has been dominated by marketing and communications though there is an emerging consensus that corporate reputations and good governance are built from the inside-out. However, HR professionals and academics have been slow to contribute to these key strategic drivers of organizational success. In this paper I draw on our previous research from often disparate bodies of literature to develop a model of the links between strategic HR and corporate reputations. The model suggests converging lines of enquiry and interest for academics in HR, marketing, communications and strategy, but also highlights some strategic dilemmas for organizations in balancing best practice and best-fit HRM. This article focuses on how different events that cause a crisis are perceived by communication officers. The aim of this paper is to investigate how the attribution of whatever has caused a crisis affects how the crisis is perceived and how this in turn affects communication efforts. Previous research indicates that people will respond differently to risks depending on the cause of the risk, even though the consequence is the same. If individuals react to a crisis differently depending on what caused it, is that also true for crisis professionals and if so, does this influence the planning and execution of crisis communication? This article presents the results from an empirical investigation of crisis communicators in Sweden. The results reveal that there are differences within this group of professionals when they are presented with crises due to different causes. Although commitment is commonly identified as an essential element for the effective implementation of organizational change, little empirical evidence exists to support this claim. We conducted two studies to replicate and extend findings pertaining to Herscovitch and Meyer's three-component model of commitment to an organizational change. In the first study, we examined relations within and across time between employees' commitment (affective, normative and continuance) and level of support for a strategic initiative undertaken by a Canadian utility company in response to deregulation. In the second study, we tested the model in a sample of managers in an Indian organization undergoing major restructuring. In both studies we found considerable support for the relations between commitment and support predicted by the model. However, we also found evidence for potential culture differences. It is very important to support communications among operators in the emergency of large-scale plants. This paper deals with a communication support system for emergent situations in a hierarchical management structure for large-scale plants. In designing a highly reliable nonhierarchical communication network, it will be more practical if not only the required number of disjoint routes is ensured, but also the cost is minimized. Under certain assumptions, the communication network cost can be evaluated by a simple matrix calculation. The branch cost and its associated switching node cost are evaluated by the sum of the fixed cost and the traffic proportional cost. It is assumed that the traffic is carried through a minimum cost route in a normal state and, based on this assumption, the traffic offered to each branch is calculated. Then the communication network cost for given nodes, branches, and traffic matrix, is obtained by matrix calculation. Moreover, the approximate formula, which has already been proposed, is used to calculate the number of disjoint routes. Therefore, the minimization of the network cost under the constraints of the number of disjoint routes can he done by matrix operation. Since the matrix calculation is especially suitable for a supercomputer, relatively large-scale networks can he designed systematically by the proposed design method. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

An experiment was designed to test five hypotheses concerning managers' preparedness to use an electronic alternative to meeting face to face for a business discussion. Fifty civil servants were given experience using telecommunication for a small group discussion. They then considered nine hypothetical cases and for each case indicated whether they would use the telecommunication system they had experienced or travel to meet face to face. They were significantly more likely to choose in favour of telecommunication: the longer the journey involved in meeting face to face; and the shorter the expected duration of the discussion. The following factors had no significant effect on the decisions: whether or not the telecommunication system had a visual channel; whether access to the system was relatively convenient or inconvenient; and whether the subjects had previous experience of telecommunication systems. Examines how male and female managers and their male and female subordinates perceive the nature of their communication with each other and the consequences of these perceptions upon the subordinates' level of job satisfaction. Finding that subordinates with higher levels of job satisfaction reported more communication and a higher quality of communication with their managers.

Analyse the clinical hours saved by the introduction of a dedicated Communications Clerk to the ED. A Communications Clerk role was introduced at Flinders Medical Centre during 2002. Over a seven-week period the number of telephone calls taken and paging performed was logged. This function had previously been performed purely by clinical staff, and the number of clinical hours saved was evaluated. Over the study period the Communication Clerks worked for 509 h. A total of 7302 telephone calls were answered or made, and 924 pages made. The clinical hours saved was calculated at 243.3. The ratio of hours worked by the Communication Clerk to clinical hours saved overall was 2.1. The role of a Communication Clerk in a busy ED is an effective work practice change, particularly in relation to clinical hours saved. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
