Optimal foraging theory predicts that well‐defended potential foods should be exploited only when energy pay‐offs are great. Although stinging hymenopteran nests are both well‐defended and predated by primates, their larvae's energy yields rarely have been calculated, and predation‐linked foraging behaviours by primates infrequently documented. Based on 58 opportunistic observations of primates raiding wasp nests for larvae, we calculated energetic yields of low‐ and high‐risk wasp nest predation for Cebus albifrons, Saimiri collinsi, S. sciureus and Sapajus apella, and tested predictions derived from optimal foraging theory. We recorded how nests were processed and by which age‐sex classes, eaten nest fragment sizes, number of occupied and empty cells, and nest occupancy patterns (percent larvae/pupae, eggs, empty cells). Basal metabolic rate (BMR) calculations showed energetic yields from 15 min foraging on low‐risk nests (Polybia quadricincta) would meet energy needed to sustain adult female and male C. albifrons BMR for 4.9 and 4.5 h, respectively; yields from high‐risk (Chartergus artifex) nests for 6.5 and 6.2 h; Mischocyttarus sp. nest yields (low risk, but mimetically resembling other wasps) would meet S. collinsi BMR for 2.9 h (female) and 2.3 h (male), and 2.6 and 2.1 h, for the slightly larger S. sciureus, respectively. The Chartergus energetic‐yield value is nearly 20% of a 36 g chocolate bar (741 kJ). Our data provide quantitative support for the common assertion that wasp larvae and pupae are high‐yield foods for primates. Different on‐chip antennas in Complementary Metal‐Oxide‐Semiconductor (CMOS) technology for THz detector and source are proposed. Firstly, the size of these antennas is estimated with an equivalent CMOS substrate model. Finally, through electromagnetic simulation, the structure optimised and slotted the on‐chip antenna to realise multi‐band detection, miniaturised detection, and miniaturised source. For the THz detector, multi‐band antennas with a dual‐ring structure and miniaturised antennas with circular and diamond structures are designed. At the frequency of 300, 600, and 800 GHz, the gain of the ring antennas is 5.7, 7.2, and 7.2 dBi, respectively. The gain of the circular and diamond antenna is 5.3 and 5.96 dBi at 300 GHz. For the THz source, rectangular‐slot and T‐slot antennas are designed at the frequency of 300 GHz and the gain of the rectangular‐slot and T‐slot antennas is 2.92 and 3.87 dBi, respectively. Multi‐band antennas and miniaturised antennas effectively save the occupation area and improve the performance of the THz system. The effectiveness of antennas is verified by the measurement of the detector and the source, which indicates that the proposed on‐chip antennas have potential prospects for CMOS THz applications. This article discusses OpenAI's ChatGPT, a generative pre‐trained transformer, which uses natural language processing to fulfill text‐based user requests (i.e., a "chatbot"). The history and principles behind ChatGPT and similar models are discussed. This technology is then discussed in relation to its potential impact on academia and scholarly research and publishing. ChatGPT is seen as a potential model for the automated preparation of essays and other types of scholarly manuscripts. Potential ethical issues that could arise with the emergence of large language models like GPT‐3, the underlying technology behind ChatGPT, and its usage by academics and researchers, are discussed and situated within the context of broader advancements in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and natural language processing for research and scholarly publishing. Paper has always been of great importance as a printing and packaging material. Due to its potential for recyclability and reusability, which result in a low environmental impact, it is expected that this importance will soar over the coming years. Nevertheless, even though paper has been in use for decades, many research questions are still open, especially in the field of mechanics. One of these questions is the appropriate size of a representative volume element (RVE) of the microstructure of paper. Therefore, a finite element network model of interconnected fibers was developed which represents the microstructure of paper. In order to create the network model realistically, geometry and material quantities were taken from experimental investigations. Additionally, single fibers and fiber bonds were investigated beforehand in order to incorporate their proper behavior into the network. Based on this, the networks were generated and subsequently loaded by applying mixed displacement and traction boundary conditions. The resulting effective stresses were compared to determine the necessary RVE size. Two approaches were considered for modeling the RVE: (i) one single "large" network, and (ii) a certain number of smaller networks whose average yielded a statistically representative effective response. As a result, the second approach turned out to be less computationally intensive due to smaller models and the possibility to run calculations simultaneously. Due to migration, terror‐threats and the viral pandemic, various EU member states have re‐established internal border control or even closed their borders. European Association for Biometrics (EAB), a non‐profit organisation, solicited the views of its members on ways which biometric technologies and services may be used to help with re‐establishing open borders within the Schengen area while at the same time mitigating any adverse effects. From the responses received, this position paper was composed to identify ideas to re‐establish free travel between the member states in the Schengen area. The paper covers the contending needs for security, open borders and fundamental rights as well as legal constraints that any technological solution must consider. A range of specific technologies for direct biometric recognition alongside complementary measures are outlined. The interrelated issues of ethical and societal considerations are also highlighted. Provided a holistic approach is adopted, it may be possible to reach a more optimal trade‐off with regards to open borders while maintaining a high‐level of security and protection of fundamental rights. Solar-driven photothermal water evaporation is considered an elegant and sustainable technology for freshwater production. The existing systems, however, often suffer from poor stability and biofouling issues, which severely hamper their prospects in practical applications. Conventionally, photothermal materials are deposited on the membrane supports via vacuum-assisted filtration or dip-coating methods. Nevertheless, the weak inherent material-membrane interactions frequently lead to poor durability, and the photothermal material layer can be easily peeled off from the hosting substrates or partially dissolved when immersed in water. In the present article, the discovery of the incorporation of borophene into cellulose nanofibers (CNF), enabling excellent environmental stability with a high light-to-heat conversion efficiency of 91.5% and water evaporation rate of 1.45 kg m-2 h-1 under simulated sunlight is reported. It is also demonstrated that borophene papers can be employed as an excellent active photothermal material for eliminating almost 100% of both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria within 20 min under three sun irradiations. The result opens a new direction for the design of borophene-based papers with unique photothermal properties which can be used for the effective treatment of a wide range of wastewaters. Healthcare‐associated infections (HAIs) are a global public health threat. Italy is one of the countries with the highest prevalence of HAI. Hand hygiene (HH) is a pillar of infection prevention and control. Monitoring HH is necessary to improve HH compliance, and direct observation is considered the gold standard. Transcription and analysis of data collected during direct observation of HH compliance with the WHO paper form are time‐consuming. We collected, during a 9‐day observation period, HH opportunities and compliance both with a smartphone application (SpeedyAudit) and with the WHO paper form. Then, we investigated the difference in the required time for data transcription and analysis between the WHO paper form and the use of the app. The difference in the required time for data transcription and analysis was significant with a mean time of 2 s using the app and about 14–54 min/day using paper form (p =.004) while no significant difference was found in measured compliance rates between the two data collecting methods. Remotely controlled self‐propelled optically‐driven actuators are increasingly attractive for sensing and robotic applications. However, complexities in material synthesis, multifunctionality, dynamic response, and the response rate limit their use for wide‐ranging application. This work uses a simple and efficient spraying method to prepare optically‐driven actuators based on TiN@PDMS‐PVDF (TiN@polydimethylsiloxane‐polyvinylidene difluoride) papers. The actuator exhibits stable superhydrophobicity for photothermal heating and corrosive solutions with a contact angle and sliding angle of 169.9° and 2.3°, respectively. The superhydrophobic actuators exhibit an efficient photothermal conversion aided by a very high optical absorption of the material approaching 97%. The optically‐driven actuator based on the TiN@PDMS‐PVDF paper exhibit a fast response and movement on the water surface. A 1.5 W cm−2 laser‐driven actuator yields a response time of 0.84 s, with its linear velocity approaching 10.1 mm s−1. The multifunctional optical‐driven actuators can easily perform operations such as linear and rotational motion optically engineered to avoid obstacles, transport cargo, and clean oil over a water surface. Summary: In a paper recently published in this journal, Shlomit Bechar (2021) analyzed the appearance and use of basalt orthostats in Canaanite and Israelite Hazor. The present paper is an addendum to Bechar's paper, elaborating the subject of the basalt lion orthostats found at Hazor. These lion orthostats formed an inseparable component of the 'orthostats architecture' characteristic of several monumental buildings in the Canaanite city. A convenient assembly recently proposed for screen printed gold electrodes (SPEs) suitable for measurements in gaseous samples is here tested for the analysis of the ethanol content in alcoholic drinks. This assembly involves the use of a circular crown of filter paper, soaked in the room temperature ionic liquid (RTIL) 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium hydrogen sulfate, which is simply placed upon a disposable screen printed cell, so as to contact the outer edge of the gold disc working electrode, as well as peripheral counter and reference electrodes. The electrical contact between the paper crown soaked in RTIL and the SPE electrode is assured by a gasket and all components are installed in a polylactic acid holder. This assembly provides a portable and disposable electrochemical platform, assembled by the easy immobilization onto a porous and inexpensive supporting material such as paper of a RTIL characterized by profitable electrical conductivity and negligible vapor pressure. The electroanalytical performance of this device was assayed for the flow injection analysis of the ethanol concentration in some real samples of wine and beer and the results obtained are compared with the alcoholic degree reported in the relevant bottle‐labels, thus highlighting a substantially satisfactory agreement. Repeatable sharp peaks (RSD=6–8 %) were detected for ethanol over a wide linear range (1–20 % v/v in water) and a detection and quantitation limit of 0.55 % v/v and 1.60 % v/v were inferred for a signal‐to‐noise ratio of 3 and 10, respectively. Since deep low‐frequency tremors are considered to be associated with large earthquakes that occur adjacently on the same subducting plate interface, it is important to investigate tremors that occurred before the establishment of modern seismograph networks such as the High Sensitivity Seismograph Network (Hi‐net). We propose a deep‐learning solution to detect evidence of tremors in scanned images of paper seismogram records from over 50 years ago. In this study, we fine‐tuned a convolutional neural network (CNN) based on the Residual Network, which was pre‐trained using images of synthetic waveforms from our previous study, using a data set comprised of images generated from real seismic data recorded digitally by Hi‐net to facilitate a supervised analysis. The fine‐tuned CNN was able to predict the presence or absence of tremors in the Hi‐net images with an accuracy of 98.64%. Gradient‐weighted Class Activation Mapping heatmaps created to visualize model predictions indicated that the CNN's ability to detect tremors is not degraded by the presence of teleseisms. Once validated using the Hi‐net images, the CNN was applied to paper seismograms recorded from 1966 to 1977 at the Kumano observatory in southwest Japan, operated by Earthquake Research Institute, The University of Tokyo. The CNN showed potential for detecting tremors in scanned images of paper seismogram records from the past, facilitating downstream tasks such as the creation of new tremor catalogs. However, further training using an augmented data set to control for variables such as inconsistent plotting pen thickness is required to develop a universally applicable model. Plain Language Summary: In 2002, deep low‐frequency tremors, which periodically occur with much smaller amplitudes and longer durations than common earthquakes, were discovered owing to the establishment of dense seismic arrays in Japan. These tremors are considered to be associated with megathrust earthquakes because they occur in deeper regions of plate boundaries compared with common earthquakes. Investigating tremors that occurred before the establishment of dense seismic arrays is important since megathrust earthquakes recur on intervals of 100–200 years, and digital records from modern seismic arrays cover only a fraction of that time. In this study, we developed a convolutional neural network based on the Residual Network (ResNet) that extracts tremors from images of waveforms recorded more than 50 years ago, when seismometers drew waveforms directly on drum‐rolled paper using a pen. The proposed ResNet, which was trained on seismogram images generated from synthetic waveforms and real data recorded digitally by modern seismic arrays, was applied to scanned images of paper seismograms recorded from 1966 to 1977 at an observatory in southwest Japan. A list of tremors was successfully obtained; however, further training using data that accounts for variables such as inconsistent plotting pen thickness is required to develop a universally applicable model. The present study describes the phytoremediation performance of water lettuce (Pistia stratiotes L.) for physicochemical pollutants elimination from paper mill effluent (PME). For this, pot (glass aquarium) experiments were conducted using 0% (BWW: borewell water), 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% treatments of PME under natural day/light regime. Results of the experiments showed that the highest removal of pH (10.75%), electrical conductivity (EC: 63.82%), total dissolved solids (TDS: 71.20%) biological oxygen demand (BOD: 85.03%), chemical oxygen demand (COD: 80.46%), total Kjeldahl's nitrogen (TKN: 93.03%), phosphorus (P: 85.56%), sodium (Na: 91.89%), potassium (K: 84.04%), calcium (Ca: 84.75%), and magnesium (Mg: 83.62%), most probable number (MPN: 77.63%), and standard plate count (SPC: 74.43%) was noted in 75% treatment of PME after treatment by P. stratiotes. PCA showed the best vector length for TKN, Na, and Ca. The maximum plant growth parameters including, total fresh biomass (81.30 ± 0.28 g), chlorophyll content (3.67 ± 0.05 mg g−1 f.wt), and relative growth rate (0.0051 gg−1 d−1) was also measured in 75% PME treatment after phytoremediation experiments. The findings of this study make useful insight into the biological management of PME through plant‐based pollutant eradication while leftover biomass may be used as a feedstock for low‐cost bioenergy production. Controlled tailoring of mechanical property and wettability is important for designing various functional materials. The integration of these characteristics with waste materials is immensely challenging to achieve, however, it can provide sustainable solutions to combat relevant environmental pollutions and other relevant challenges. Here, the strategic conversion of discarded and valueless waste paper into functional products has been introduced following a catalyst‐free chemical approach to tailor both the mechanical property and water wettability at ambient conditions for sustainable waste management and controlling the relevant environmental pollution. In the current design, the controlled and appropriate silanization of waste paper allowed to modulate both the a) porosity and b) compressive modulus of the paper‐derived sponges. Further, the association of 1,4‐conjugate addition reaction between amine and acrylate groups allowed to obtain an unconventional waste paper‐derived chemically 'reactive' sponge. The appropriate covalent modification of the residual reactive acrylate groups with selected alkylamines at ambient conditions provided a facile basis to tailor the water wettability from moderate hydrophobicity, adhesive superhydrophobicity to non‐adhesive superhydrophobicity. The embedded superhydrophobicity in the waste paper‐derived sponge was capable of sustaining large physical deformations, severe physical abrasions, prolonged exposure to harsh aqueous conditions, etc. Further, the waste paper‐derived, extremely water‐repellent sponges and membranes were successfully extended for proof‐of‐concept demonstration of a practically relevant outdoor application, where the repetitive remediation of oil spillages has been demonstrated following both selective absorption (25 times) of oils and gravity‐driven filtration‐based (50 times) separation of oils from oil/water mixtures at different harsh aqueous scenarios. In 2018, the community first observed scientific papers in the biomedical literature that seemed to display systematically fabricated data, pointing to the existence of paper mills: unofficial, potentially illegal organizations selling fake scientific manuscripts. In the present article, we share relevant information specifically about the 'raw data' associated with paper mill manuscripts. If a submitted manuscript displays clear indicators of potential paper mill involvement, we found that the raw data at close inspection often raise doubts about their authenticity. In the absence of real data, paper mills may need to fabricate raw data images when responding to requests from journals. Given the necessity to streamline production of fake manuscripts, the alleged raw data might be created using templates. Some potential methods for generating fake Western blot images are discussed. Paying close attention to image data, including graphs, diagrams, plots and tables, ideally at pre‐publication stage, can clearly help prevent publication of incorrect and fabricated information. We propose a printed 384‐well microtiter paper‐based fluorescent chemosensor array device (384‐well microtiter PCAD) to simultaneously categorize and discriminate saccharides and sulfur‐containing amino acids for food analysis. The 384‐well microtiter PCAD requiring 1 μL/4 mm2 of each well can allow high‐throughput sensing. The device embedded with self‐assembled fluorescence chemosensors displayed a fingerprint‐like response pattern for targets, the image of which was rapidly captured by a portable digital camera. Indeed, the paper‐based chemosensor array system combined with imaging analysis and pattern recognition techniques not only successfully categorized saccharides and sulfur‐containing amino acids but also classified mono‐ and disaccharide groups. Furthermore, the quantitative detectability of the printed device was revealed by a spike and recovery test for fructose and glutathione in a diluted freshly made tomato juice. We believe that the 384‐well microtiter PCAD using the imaging analysis system will be a powerful sensor for multi‐analytes at several categorized groups in real samples. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Chlorpyrifos is a commonly used organophosphorus pesticide in agriculture. However, its neurotoxicity poses a huge threat to human health. In the present study, a chitosan‐modified filter paper‐based surface enhanced Raman scattering active substrate (Ch/AgNPs/paper) was fabricated and used to detect trace amounts of chlorpyrifos in 120 treated wheat samples. Results: Results showed that the Ch/AgNPs/paper substrate could be used to enhance the chlorpyrifos spectral fingerprint only up to a concentration of 0.000558 mg L−1. Following Raman spectra acquisition, three pre‐processing methods, including Savitzky–Golay (Savitsky–Golay filter with a second order polynomial) smoothing with first derivative and second derivative and normalization, were used to reduce baseline variation and increase resolutions of spectral peak features of the original spectra dataset. Then, prediction models based on partial least squares were established for detecting chlorpyrifos pesticide residue in wheat. The partial least squares model with normalization yielded optimal result, with a correlation coefficient of 0.9764, root mean square error of prediction of 1.22 mg L−1 in the prediction, and relative analysis deviation of 4.12. Five unknown samples were prepared to verify the accuracy of the prediction model. The predicted recoveries were calculated to be between 97.25% and 119.38% with an absolute t value of 0.598. The value of a t‐test shows that the prediction model is accurate and reliable. Environmental sustainability is a huge challenge in Africa as the region is currently struggling to provide sustainable systems to support daily human activities. Such activities in many African organisations include paper‐based information storage and communication which are not ecofriendly and place a huge burden on forest resources. This study therefore focused on the implication of overusing paper in an African university. Fifty offices in the university were surveyed and 59 questionnaires administered. The questionnaires were transcribed and analysed using both textual qualitative and quantitative analyses. The results showed that 6888 reams of paper (costing about 8 million Naira) are consumed annually by the university, translating to about 413 trees, which are enough to occupy a standard‐sized football pitch. It was also found that administrative staff members were generally Information Communication Technology (ICT) certified; however, many of them are still not well‐informed on the environmental implication of overconsuming paper even though they are largely aware of the benefits of paperless systems. Recommendations were offered on how to reduce the demand for paper by the university. The present study reports the fabrication of reduced graphene oxide (rGO)/gold nanoparticles (AuNP) nanocomposites modified cellulose fiber paper‐based electrochemical biosensor for procalcitonin (PCT) biomarker detection. PCT is a biomarker specific for bacterial infection (BI) detection and has gained much attention as a potential solution to the problems associated with determining appropriate antibiotic use. In sepsis and other severe infections, serum PCT levels increase to values above 100 ng mL−1 in response to pro‐inflammatory stimulation. The structural and morphological characterization of the rGO‐AuNP composite are investigated using UV‐Vis spectroscopy, FTIR spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscopy. Monoclonal antibodies specific to PCT were covalently immobilized onto the rGO‐AuNP nanocomposite modified paper to fabricate an electrochemical biosensor. The fabricated biosensor exhibits linearity in the PCT concentration range 10 −15×103 pg mL−1, with a low detection limit 10 pg mL−1. Furthermore, the proposed biosensor also exhibited good selectivity and could detect PCT biomarkers even in the presence of other interfering electroactive species such as glucose, oxalic acid, and urea. The proposed CF‐based biosensor has been proven as an accelerated simple point‐of‐care (POC) exploratory approach for early PCT diagnosis in inadequate areas with limited production facilities, computational techniques, and highly skilled experts. The small‐signal dielectric and piezoelectric coefficients of paper‐derived sodium potassium niobate, K0.5Na0.5NbO3 (KNN), were compared with those of conventionally prepared samples. Results show similar functional properties of paper‐derived KNN without significantly decreasing the small‐signal piezoelectric coefficient. The structure and microstructure analysis of conventional KNN and paper‐derived KNN did not reveal any significant difference in the crystal structure and grain size. However, the temperature‐dependent inter‐ferroelectric phase transition temperature estimated from the temperature‐dependent dielectric permittivity data revealed a decrease of approximately 18°C for the paper‐derived KNN and is possibly associated with the structural and microstructural defects. This work indicates that optimizing suspension chemistry and sintering conditions will be critical to enhance the functional response of paper‐derived KNN further. Moreover, paper‐derived ceramic processing, a novel and cost‐effective additive manufacturing technology, can be potentially used to fabricate other electroceramics with a wide range of porosities and sizes as well as complex geometries and multilayer structures. In this contribution, the causes leading to the undesired unevenness on the exterior surface of a paper‐based sandwich structure during the manufacturing process are investigated. This provides insight into the manufacturing parameters that need to be adjusted to reduce this waviness. A finite element model of the pressing process is developed in the commercial software ABAQUS and then used to analyze the formation of the surface unevenness. The sandwich structure adopted in the model consists of a decorative layer, an intermediate layer, a corrugated core and a bottom layer. In particular, the core has a sinusoidal structure with various geometry parameters, which are adjusted in the model to investigate the effect on the waviness of the top surface. The results of the quasi‐static process simulation correlate well with the experimental results. A subsequent parameter study based on the design of experiments (DoE) shows the relationship between the material parameters of the intermediate/bottom layer and the resulting waviness. An editorial is presented which discusses the Academy of Nutrition Sciences' second Position Paper on the regulation of nutrition and health claims around the world, with a specific focus on Europe. It discusses the regulations for the European Union and Great Britain and emphasizes the learning's gained through the implementation of the European Food Safety Authority's evidence-based process for assessment of proposed claims.

This ENETS guidance paper, developed by a multidisciplinary working group, provides up‐to‐date and practical advice on the diagnosis and management of digestive neuroendocrine carcinoma, based on recent developments and study results. These recommendations aim to pave the road for more standardized care for our patients resulting in improved outcomes. Prognosis is generally poor for digestive NEC, most are advanced at diagnosis and median survival in metastatic disease is 11–12 months. Surgery can be of benefit for localized disease after extensive preoperative imaging. Carboplatin in combination with etoposide is recommended as first‐line treatment for metastatic disease. Irinotecan with fluoropyrimidines has the best evidence as second‐line treatment. Immunotherapy plays a minor role in biomarker‐unselected patients. Molecular profiling if available is encouraged to identify new targets. More prospective clinical trials are highly needed to fulfil the unmet needs in this field, especially on new predictive and prognostic biomarkers and to improve survival of patients with advanced disease. Idiographic patient‐reported outcome measures (I‐PROMs) are a growing set of individualized tools for use in routine outcome monitoring (ROM) in psychological therapies. This paper presents a position statement on their conceptualization, use, and analysis, based on contemporary evidence and clinical practice. Four problem‐based, and seven goal‐based, I‐PROMs, with some evidence of psychometric evaluation and use in psychotherapy, were identified. I‐PROMs may be particularly valuable to the evaluation of psychological therapies because of their clinical utility and their alignment with a patient‐centered approach. However, there are several challenges for I‐PROMs: how to generate items in a robust manner, their measurement model, methods for establishing their reliability and validity, and the meaning of an aggregated I‐PROM score. Based on the current state of the literature, we recommend that I‐PROMs are used to complement nomothetic measures. Flexible strain sensors are indispensable components providing repeatable electronic signals responding to mechanical deformations. Nevertheless, there is a stringent demand for flexible sensors to maintain normal performance in daily use and even in harsh conditions, such as high humidity and high temperature. Herein, inspired by scorpions, a highly sensitive flexible strain sensor based on ceramic fiber paper (CFP) with superhydrophobic and high‐temperature‐resistant properties is developed by a combination of mechanical cutting and spray coating method, which minimizes performance degradation commonly seen in polymer‐based and textile‐based sensors under harsh conditions. The prepared strain sensor exhibits high sensitivity (gauge factor ≈1254), low detection limit (0.078%), fast response time (108 ms), and notable stability (over 10 000 cycles). The ultra‐high sensitivity originates from the existence of the micro‐scale cracks. To further improve stability of the device in some harsh conditions, superhydrophobic and heat‐resisting coatings consisting of SiO2 aerogels and SiO2 nanoparticles are introduced onto the surface of CFP. Owing to the synergistic effect of the high‐temperature resistance of ceramics fibers and the coatings, the device operates normally at temperature up to 220 °C with a water contact angle of 159°, showing great promises for harsh conditions, especially in the industrial and aerospace fields. Arc discharge in the power transformer can bring enormous economic losses and safety risks. The transformer protection system for arc discharge faults is still not ideal. The physical characteristics of the whole process from partial discharge defects transition to arc faults are not fully recognized, mainly because it is difficult to establish and sense the relevant characteristic parameters. This paper built a research platform for studying the transition process from partial discharge to early arc discharge based on fibre‐optic ultrasonic, temperature, pressure sensors with traditional electrical voltage and current sensors. Five discharge models are designed and the changing pattern of multiple parameters in the transition process of different models is studied. The experiment results show that the amplitude and frequency of acoustic waves drop significantly after the arc breakdown. Ultrasonic and high‐frequency current sensing in the early warning of arc fault each has its own limitations. The pressure caused by the arc is not only related to the arc energy but also related to the discharge types. The overall oil temperature change after the early arc discharge is small and hard to detect. Howard Rachlin's widely influential behavioral economic approach to self‐control and related issues provides the model for this submission. The topic is overconsumption. Current human consumption levels are unsustainable. Explanations typically focus on societal factors, such as the seductive power of advertising and/or misguided tax policies. However, the effectiveness of these factors depends on the degree to which individuals are susceptible to the message: "consume more." Humans are not blank slates. This paper argues that how individuals frame their choices establishes the susceptibility to overconsume. According to economic theory, consumers frame their options as bundles, composed of different combinations of the available items and activities. This leads to maximizing. In experiments, participants tend to frame their options as "either‐or" choices. This leads to the matching law. Mathematical models of concurrent schedule choice procedures show that (1) the matching law implies overconsumption of the most preferred option and (2) that individuals will persist in preferring their favorite option even when doing so reduces overall reward rates. Given that the matching law better describes how individuals choose than does maximizing, the mathematical models of widely used choice procedures help explain why efforts to increase consumption have been more influential than efforts to control consumption. We defined respiratory sarcopenia as a coexistence of respiratory muscle weakness and decreased respiratory muscle mass. Although respiratory muscle function is indispensable for life support, its evaluation has not been included in the regular assessment of respiratory function or adequately evaluated in clinical practice. Considering this situation, we prepared a position paper outlining basic knowledge, diagnostic and assessment methods, mechanisms, involvement in respiratory diseases, intervention and treatment methods, and future perspectives on respiratory sarcopenia, and summarized the current consensus on respiratory sarcopenia. Respiratory sarcopenia is diagnosed when respiratory muscle weakness and decreased respiratory muscle mass are observed. If respiratory muscle mass is difficult to measure, we can use appendicular skeletal muscle mass as a surrogate. Probable respiratory sarcopenia is defined when respiratory muscle weakness and decreased appendicular skeletal muscle mass are observed. If only respiratory muscle strength is decreased without a decrease in respiratory function, the patient is diagnosed with possible respiratory sarcopenia. Respiratory muscle strength is assessed using maximum inspiratory pressure and maximum expiratory pressure. Ultrasonography and computed tomography are commonly used to assess respiratory muscle mass; however, there are insufficient data to propose the cutoff values for defining decreased respiratory muscle mass. Introduction: Adolescence is a critical stage of rapid biological, emotional and social change and development. Adolescents and young adults (AYA) with asthma and allergies need to develop the knowledge and skills to self‐manage their health independently. Healthcare professionals (HCP), parents and their wider network play an essential role in supporting AYA in this process. Previous work showed significant limitations in transition care across Europe. In 2020, the first evidence‐based guideline on effective transition for AYA with asthma and allergies was published by EAACI. Aim: We herein summarize practical resources to support this guideline's implementation in clinical practice. Methods: For this purpose, multi‐stakeholder Task Force members searched for resources in peer review journals and grey literature. These resources were included if relevant and of good quality and were pragmatically rated for their evidence‐basis and user friendliness. Results: Resources identified covered a range of topics and targeted healthcare professionals, AYA, parents/carers, schools, workplace and wider community. Most resources were in English, web‐based and had limited evidence‐basis. Conclusions: This position paper provides a valuable selection of practical resources for all stakeholders to support effective transitional care for AYA with asthma and allergies. In this study, a three‐dimensional bandpass frequency selective surface (FSS) with a new fabrication technology is proposed and designed based on slotlines. The proposed FSS consists of silver paste circuits printed on aramid paper, and is vertically and horizontally arranged to form a periodic array in honeycomb structure. To better understand the design principle of the proposed FSS, the equivalent circuit model (ECM), single‐polarized structure, and dual‐polarized structure are presented and analyzed, respectively. The proposed FSS exhibits a passband at 4.1 GHz with a fractional bandwidth of 71.5% at x‐polarization and 66.2% at y‐polarization with reflectivity less than −10 dB. Moreover, the reflection and transmission coefficients have relative stable properties up to 30° for the oblique incidence. Then, the proposed structure is fabricated and measured to verify the design strategies. The measured and simulated results have reasonable agreement under a large variation of incident angles. Hydrogen‐bonded cyclohexanoic derivatives are applied in a structural colored cholesteric liquid crystal (CLC) helical polymer that demonstrates an extraordinary dual thermal response. Integration of the dynamic hydrogen‐bonded cyclohexanoic acid derivatives in the CLC polymer as supramolecular crosslinks yields an immediate and irreversible loss of the green structural color upon exposure to temperatures above the cholesteric‐to‐isotropic transition temperature (TNI) caused by the helical order loss. Exposure to temperatures below the TNI yields a gradual irreversible red color shift of the reflected wavelength over broad temperature and time ranges. Most likely due to polymerization confinement in combination with the dynamics of the carboxylic acid hydrogen bonds, helical unwinding takes place over time causing the red shift of the reflected wavelength. The temperature response can be programmed by altering the chemical composition of the liquid crystal mixture. Furthermore, the green, structural color of the polymer can also be easily changed making it possible to print different colored indicators combined with different respective temperature responses on a single substrate. The printed optical sensors can be easily delaminated by dissolving the non‐covalent crosslinked polymer. Electrode architectures significantly influence the electrochemical performance, flexibility, and applications of lithium‐ion batteries (LiBs). However, the conventional bar coating for fabricating electrodes limits the addition of customized architecture or patterns. In this study, as a novel approach, patterns are integrated into electrodes through large‐scale roll‐to‐roll (R2R) flexographic printing. Additionally, flexible, recyclable, and biodegradable paper are innovatively used as a printing substrate during printing LiBs manufacturing, which exhibited superior printability. Moreover, the paper is modified with a thin‐layer Al2O3 to function as the separator in the printed LiB. The Al2O3‐coated paper enables an admirable wettability for printing, excellent mechanical properties for high‐speed R2R manufacturing, and outstanding thermal stability for the safe and stable operation of LiBs. The assembled paper cells exhibit nearly 100% discharge capacity retention after 1000 cycles at 3 C and outstanding rate performance. Paper‐based microfluidics emerges as an innovative platform for constructing miniaturized electrochemical devices, which mainly benefit from the spontaneous capillary action of paper. Nevertheless, the capillary‐driven flow dynamics on paper are determined exclusively by the intrinsic properties of paper and fluidics, thus lacking the controllability that conventional pump‐based microfluidics can provide. Herein, an approach to regulating the capillary flow on paper is introduced by conjugating the outlets of microfluidic channels with a photothermal module for water evaporation. The capillary flow rate on paper can be handily regulated from 4 to 37 µL min−1 under controllable illumination conditions. As a proof‐of‐concept, prototypical paper‐based microfluidic fuel cells integrated with the photothermal module are constructed. Their peak power density can be boosted from 0.3 up to 2.1 mW cm−2 under the simulated sunlight irradiation. The influence of capillary flow rate on the fuel cell performance is further validated using multiphysics simulations. The present work not only provides a practically feasible method to boost the performance of paper‐based microfluidic fuel cells using solar energy, but also opens a new avenue for modulating the performance of paper‐based microfluidics, which has long been a challenge in this field. Paper‐based electronics are emerging as a new class of technology with broad areas of application. Despite several efforts to fabricate new types of flexible electronic devices by screen printing of conductive paste, many of them are often nonbiodegradable, toxic, and expensive, limiting their practical use in bioresorbable paper‐based electronics. To address this need, a highly conductive and biodegradable bimodal conductive paste is developed using cost‐effective zinc‐based micro and nanoparticles with a facile low‐temperature sintering process compatible with paper substrates. The two‐step sintering process involves the removal of the insulating zinc oxide layer by spray coating acetic acid followed by a heat press sintering process to ensure the formation of highly packed and continuous metallic traces. The required conditions for the heat press sintering process are systematically studied using electrical, optical, and mechanical characterization techniques. The results of these investigations revealed an ultra‐packed microstructure with high electrical conductivity (0.5 × 105 S m−1) and low oxide content that is obtained with a heat press sintering setting of 220 °C for 60 s. Finally, as a proof of concept, the conductive paste with an optimized sintering process is used to fabricate a wearable wireless heater for remote‐controlled release of therapeutics. The controlled delivery of the system is validated in the practical and on‐demand delivery of antibiotics for eradicating commonly found bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus in dermal wound infections. The Bürgenstock Conference is a prestigious symposium in organic chemistry that has been running since 1965. The conference is known for its exclusive and luxurious venue, limited number of participants, and undisclosed program. The conference featured 13 plenary speakers who shared their latest research and knowledge in various areas of chemistry. The conference also honored Prof. Andreas Pfaltz as a Guest of Honor for his contributions to asymmetric catalysis. This document highlights two studies published in the Asian Journal of Ecotoxicology. The first study focuses on the development of machine learning models to screen chemicals with hepatotoxicity, or liver toxicity. The models were trained using a dataset of 4014 chemicals and achieved good performance in predicting hepatotoxicity. The second study explores the use of machine learning methods to screen chemicals that induce autonomic dysfunction, a condition affecting the autonomic nervous system. The study developed a model using a dataset of 466 positive and 427 negative samples and identified structural alerts associated with autonomic dysfunction. In paper industries, Multiple Stage Evaporator (MSE) is used to concentrate black liquor. Due to the energy intensive nature of MSE, the global energy scenario stresses on optimizing its energy efficiency. Moreover, the necessity of a tight control of product quality demands superior understanding of system dynamics for controller design. This paper presents a robust fractional‐order Proportional–Integral–Derivative (FOPID) controller for concentration control of black liquor in Heptad's effect MSE. First, the steady‐state unknown process parameters are estimated by solving the nonlinear steady‐state model. Thereafter, these optimal process parameters are utilized to simulate the nonlinear dynamic model to obtain the transfer functions. By using these transfer functions, the FOPID controller is designed whose parameters are tuned via Water Cycle Algorithm (WCA). The competence of WCA toward controller tuning is validated by comparing with other optimization techniques (Genetic Algorithm [GA], Simulated Annealing [SA], Particle Swarm Optimization [PSO], and Krill Herd [KH]). Moreover, the performance of the proposed FOPID controller in concentration control, set‐point tracking, and noise suppression is validated by comparing with conventional PID, two‐degree of freedom‐PID (2‐DOF‐PID), and Internal Model Control (IMC) controllers. The results demonstrate that FOPID controller reduces the Integral Square Error (ISE) by 91.05%, 89.81%, and 78.84%, respectively, with respect to PID, 2‐DOF‐PID, and IMC. Paper spray chemical ionization (PSCI) combined with mass spectrometry has been proposed as a sensitive method for the analysis of nonpolar aromatic compounds; however, the mechanism behind PSCI is not well understood. In the present study, the evidence for the occurrence of corona discharge is provided and its mechanism is proposed. Photographs taken with a highly sensitive camera evidently demonstrate the occurrence of corona discharge at the end of the triangular shape tip when a nonpolar solvent such as hexane was used at an applied potential of 6–7 kV. Nevertheless, corona discharge was not observed in the presence of a polar solvent. The occurrence of the corona discharge was attributed to charge accumulation in the dielectric layer generated by the nonpolar solvent on the fibers of the paper tip. Specifically, corona discharge was generated at the tip end when the charge approached a critical threshold. In the presence of a polar solvent, however, the dielectric layer was not generated and, hence, corona discharge was not observed. Based on this information, three nonpolar solvents were selected and their sensitivity for analyzing the phenanthrene and maltene fractions of crude oil was evaluated. Chlorobenzene provided the highest signal abundance; therefore, it was suggested as the optimum solvent for PSCI. Notably, the fundamental understanding of corona discharge in PSCI acquired in this study provides a basis for further improvement of this technique by way of surface modification. Without excess Li, anode‐free Li‐metal batteries (AFLMBs) have been proposed as the most likely solution to realizing highly‐safe and cost‐effective Li‐metal batteries. Nevertheless, short cyclic life puzzles conventional AFLMBs due to anodic dead Li accumulation with a local current concentration induced by irreversible electrolyte depletion, insufficient active Li reservoir and slow Li+ transfer at the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI). Herein, SrI2 is introduced into carbon paper (CP) current collector to effectively suppress dead Li through synergistic mechanisms including reversible I−/I3− redox reaction to reactivate dead Li, dielectric SEI surface with SrF2 and LiF to prevent electrolyte decomposition and highly ionic conductive (3.488 mS cm−1) inner layer of SEI with abundant LiI to enable efficient Li+ transfer inside. Responsive photonic crystals are widely employed to construct rewritable paper, where patterns are written and erased repeatedly via color switching. The working principle mainly lies in the changes on the lattice constant of periodic structures, which, however, restricts the localized color tuning of the recorded patterns and thus limits multicolor information transfer. Herein, a novel strategy is reported to write, erase, and importantly to tune the colors by developing unique light‐driven cholesteric liquid crystals (CLCs) that possess self‐organized helical superstructures with two structural elements of pitch lengths (lattice constant) and helical axes (reconfiguration). Reconfiguration of the helical axes provides two high‐contrast optical states for writing and erasing by pressure and electricity, whereas precise photocontrol of the pitch lengths contributes to localized color tuning. These features primarily capitalize on the light‐driven CLC with diverse photostationary colors, which is induced by a newly designed binary chiral system and confined in the polymer dispersed liquid crystal layer. Distinct multicolor patterns are mechanically written, optically tuned, and electrically erased on the rewritable photonic paper in a programmable manner. Paper‐based friction materials with phenolic resin as the matrix are prone to thermal damage under harsh working conditions easily leading to materials failure. To satisfy the requirements of high speed and heavy load service situations, paper‐based friction materials with different polyimide resin content were prepared by wet forming technology to reveal the effect of polyimide resin on the properties of composites. And a paper‐based composite with phenolic resin was used for comparison. Results show that compared with the phenolic composite, tensile strength, and shear strength of the polyimide composite were increased by 50.5% and 36.4%, respectively. Due to the strong hydrogen bond in the imide ring of polyimide, the temperature of the polyimide composite at 2% weight loss was 292.7°C, which was 106.3°C higher than that of the phenolic composite. Moreover, the wear rate was reduced by 30.3% because the friction transfer film was produced during friction. To sum up, polyimide resin has the potential to replace phenolic resin under the condition of high speed and heavy load. Besides, the composite with polyimide resin content of 40.0 wt% demonstrated the best wear resistance and considerable strength attributed to the best interface combination. A comparative study of chemical looping combustion (CLC) with paper, plastic, and coal as fuel was carried out. Experiments were performed in a laboratory fluidized‐bed reactor by alternating between reduction and oxidation cycles. The results obtained indicated that a higher temperature leads to an increase in the CO2 yield and carbon conversion for all fuels. Paper had the highest fractional conversion of CO to CO2 followed by polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and coal. This was due to the higher fraction of volatiles in paper compared to PVC and coal. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis of the oxygen carrier particle after each of the solid fuel experiment was carried out. Rationale: Paper spray (PS) is a simple and innovative ambient ionization technique for mass spectrometry (MS) analysis. Under PS‐MS conditions, chemical reactions, which usually occur slowly on a bulk scale, are accelerated. Moreover, the formation of products and transient species can be easily monitored. In this manuscript, reactions between phthalic anhydride and diamines were conducted and monitored using a PS‐MS platform. The reaction products (phthalimides) have many pharmaceutical applications, but their traditional syntheses can take hours under reflux, requiring laborious purification steps. Methods: In situ reactions were performed by dropping methanolic solutions of phthalic anhydride and diamines on a triangular paper. The analyses were achieved by positioning the triangle tip in front of the mass spectrometer entrance, whereas a metal clip was attached to the triangle base. After adding methanol to the paper, a high voltage was applied across the metal clip, and the mass spectra were acquired. Results: The intrinsic reactivity of alkyl and aromatic diamines was evaluated. The carbon chain remarkably influenced the reactivity of aliphatic diamines. For aryl diamines, the ortho isomer was the most reactive. Moreover, for aryl amines with electron‐withdrawing substituents, no reaction was noticed. Conclusions: Taking advantage of the unique characteristics of PS‐MS, it was possible to investigate the intrinsic reactivity of model alkyl (ethylene versus propylene) and aryl (o‐phenylene versus m‐phenylene and p‐phenylene) diamines towards phthalic anhydride. Some crucial parameters that affect the intrinsic reactivity of organic molecules, such as isomerism, intramolecular interaction, and conformation, were easily explored. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
