However, recent literature on economic growth indicates that cultural diversity can be key to economic growth, and in fact, several countries as such are sitting on a large potential economic resource in the form of cultural diversity. In the pursuit of economic growth, many of the countries of the Global South have slackened their regulations or have not firmed up environmental safeguards, resulting in adverse environmental consequences, which may in the long run compromise their economic growth.
