Subject motion is a long-standing problem of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), which can seriously deteriorate the image quality. Various prospective and retrospective methods have been proposed for MRI motion correction, among which deep learning approaches have achieved state-of-the-art motion correction performance. This survey paper aims to provide a comprehensive review of deep learning-based MRI motion correction methods. Neural networks used for motion artifacts reduction and motion estimation in the image domain or frequency domain are detailed. Furthermore, besides motion-corrected MRI reconstruction, how estimated motion is applied in other downstream tasks is briefly introduced, aiming to strengthen the interaction between different research areas. Purpose: The quality of ultrasound images is degraded by speckle and Gaussian noises. This study aims to develop a deep-learning (DL)-based filter for ultrasound image denoising., Methods: A novel DL-based filter using adaptive residual (AdaRes) learning was proposed. Five image quality metrics (IQMs) and 27 radiomics features were used to evaluate denoising results. The effect of our proposed filter, AdaRes, on four pre-trained convolutional neural network (CNN) classification models and three radiologists was assessed., Results: AdaRes filter was tested on both natural and ultrasound image databases. IQMs results indicate that AdaRes could remove noises in three different noise levels with the highest performances. In addition, a radiomics study proved that AdaRes did not distort tissue textures and it could preserve most radiomics features. AdaRes could also improve the performance classification using CNNs in different settings. Finally, AdaRes also improved the mean overall performance (AUC) of three radiologists from 0.494 to 0.702 in the classification of benign and malignant lesions., Conclusions: AdaRes filtered out noises on ultrasound images more effectively and can be used as an auxiliary preprocessing step in computer-aided diagnosis systems. This review article focuses on the applications of deep learning with neural networks and multimodal neural networks in the orthopaedic domain. By providing practical examples of how artificial intelligence (AI) is being applied successfully in orthopaedic surgery, particularly in the realm of imaging data sets and the integration of clinical data, this study aims to provide orthopaedic surgeons with the necessary tools to not only evaluate existing literature but also to consider AI's potential in their own clinical or research pursuits. We first review standard deep neural networks which can analyze numerical clinical variables, then describe convolutional neural networks which can analyze image data, and then introduce multimodal AI models which analyze various types of different data. Then, we contrast these deep learning techniques with related but more limited techniques such as radiomics, describe how to interpret deep learning studies, and how to initiate such studies at your institution. Ultimately, by empowering orthopaedic surgeons with the knowledge and know-how of deep learning, this review aspires to facilitate the translation of research into clinical practice, thereby enhancing the efficacy and precision of real-world orthopaedic care for patients., (Copyright © 2024 by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.)

Artificial intelligence (AI) models based on deep learning now represent the state of the art for making functional predictions in genomics research. However, the underlying basis on which predictive models make such predictions is often unknown. For genomics researchers, this missing explanatory information would frequently be of greater value than the predictions themselves, as it can enable new insights into genetic processes. We review progress in the emerging area of explainable AI (xAI), a field with the potential to empower life science researchers to gain mechanistic insights into complex deep learning models. AIM: To analyze research hotspots and trends of artificial intelligence in diabetic retinopathy(DR)based on bibliometrics and high-impact papers.METHODS: Papers on artificial intelligence in DR research published in the Web of Science Core Collection(WoSCC)from January 1, 2012, to December 31, 2022 were retrieved. The data was analyzed by CiteSpace software to examine annual publication number, countries, institutions, source journal, research categories, keywords, and to perform an in-depth analysis of high-impact papers.RESULTS: A total of 1 009 papers on artificial intelligence in DR from 79 countries were included in the study, with 272 papers published in 2022. Notably, China and India contributed 287 and 234 papers, respectively. The United Kingdom exhibited a centrality score of 0.31, while the United States boasted an impressive H-index of 48. Three prominent institutions in the United Kingdom(University of London, Moorfields Eye Hospital, and University College London)and one institution in Egypt(Egyptian Knowledge Bank)all achieved a notable H-index of 14. The primary academic disciplines associated with this research field encompassed ophthalmology, computer science, and artificial intelligence. Burst keywords in the years 2021～2022 included transfer learning, vessel segmentation, and convolutional neural networks.CONCLUSION: China emerged as the leading contributor in terms of publication number in this field, while the United States stood out as a key player. Notably, Egyptian Knowledge Bank and University of London assumed leading roles among research institutions. Additionally, IEEE Access was identified as the most active journal within this domain. The research focus in the field of artificial intelligence in DR has transitioned from AI applications in disease detection and grading to a more concentrated exploration of AI-assisted diagnostic systems. Transfer learning, vessel segmentation, and convolutional neural networks hold substantial promise for widespread applications in this field.

Chromatographic data processing has garnered attention due to multiple Food and Drug Administration 483 citations and warning letters, highlighting the need for a robust technological solution. The healthcare industry has the potential to greatly benefit from the adoption of digital technologies, but the process of implementing these technologies can be slow and complex. This article presents a "Digital by Design" managerial approach, adapted from pharmaceutical quality by design principles, for designing and implementing an artificial intelligence (AI)-based solution for chromatography peak integration process in the healthcare industry. We report the use of a convolutional neural network model to predict analytical variability for integrating chromatography peaks and propose a potential GxP framework for using AI in the healthcare industry that includes elements on data management, model management, and human-in-the-loop processes. The increasing availability of large collections of electronic health record (EHR) data and unprecedented technical advances in deep learning (DL) have sparked a surge of research interest in developing DL based clinical decision support systems for diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. Despite the recognition of the value of deep learning in healthcare, impediments to further adoption in real healthcare settings remain due to the black-box nature of DL. Therefore, there is an emerging need for interpretable DL, which allows end users to evaluate the model decision making to know whether to accept or reject predictions and recommendations before an action is taken. In this review, we focus on the interpretability of the DL models in healthcare. We start by introducing the methods for interpretability in depth and comprehensively as a methodological reference for future researchers or clinical practitioners in this field. Besides the methods' details, we also include a discussion of advantages and disadvantages of these methods and which scenarios each of them is suitable for, so that interested readers can know how to compare and choose among them for use. Moreover, we discuss how these methods, originally developed for solving general-domain problems, have been adapted and applied to healthcare problems and how they can help physicians better understand these data-driven technologies. Overall, we hope this survey can help researchers and practitioners in both artificial intelligence and clinical fields understand what methods we have for enhancing the interpretability of their DL models and choose the optimal one accordingly. Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning especially, are becoming increasingly foundational to our collective future. Recent developments around generative models such as ChatGPT, and DALL-E represent just the tip of the iceberg in new gadgets that will change the way we live our lives. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) and Transformer models are at the heart of advancements in the autonomous vehicles and health care industries as well. Yet these models, as impressive as they are, still make plenty of mistakes without justifying or explaining what aspects of the input or internal state, was responsible for the error. Often, the goal of automation is to increase throughput, processing as many tasks as possible in a short a period of time. For some use cases the cost of mistakes might be acceptable as long as production is increased above some set margin. However, in health care, autonomous vehicles, and financial applications, the cost of a mistake might have catastrophic consequences. For this reason, industries where single mistakes can be costly are less enthusiastic about early AI adoption. The field of eXplainable AI (XAI) has attracted significant attention in recent years with the goal of producing algorithms that shed light into the decision-making process of neural networks. In this paper we show how robust vision pipelines can be built using XAI algorithms with the goal of producing automated watchdogs that actively monitor the decision-making process of neural networks for signs of mistakes or ambiguous data. We call these robust vision pipelines, squinting pipelines.

The use of artificial intelligence and, more specifically, deep learning methods in chemistry is becoming increasingly common. Applications in informatics fields, such as cheminformatics and proteomics, structural biology, and spectroscopy, including NMR, are on the rise. Recent developments in model architectures, such as graph convolutional neural networks and transformers, have been enabled by advancements in computational hardware and software. However, model architectures with more predictive power often require larger amounts of training data, which can be challenging to acquire, but this requirement can be mitigated through techniques like pretraining and fine-tuning. Purpose: To assess an FDA-approved and CE-certified deep learning (DL) software application compared to the performance of human radiologists in detecting intracranial hemorrhages (ICH)., Methods: Within a 20-week trial from January to May 2020, 2210 adult non-contrast head CT scans were performed in a single center and automatically analyzed by an artificial intelligence (AI) solution with workflow integration. After excluding 22 scans due to severe motion artifacts, images were retrospectively assessed for the presence of ICHs by a second-year resident and a certified radiologist under simulated time pressure. Disagreements were resolved by a subspecialized neuroradiologist serving as the reference standard. We calculated interrater agreement and diagnostic performance parameters, including the Breslow-Day and Cochran-Mantel-Haenszel tests., Results: An ICH was present in 214 out of 2188 scans. The interrater agreement between the resident and the certified radiologist was very high (κ = 0.89) and even higher (κ = 0.93) between the resident and the reference standard. The software has delivered 64 false-positive and 68 false-negative results giving an overall sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and accuracy of 68.2%, 96.8%, 69.5%, 96.6%, and 94.0%, respectively. Corresponding values for the resident were 94.9%, 99.2%, 93.1%, 99.4%, and 98.8%. The accuracy of the DL application was inferior (p < 0.001) to that of both the resident and the certified neuroradiologist., Conclusion: A resident under time pressure outperformed an FDA-approved DL program in detecting ICH in CT scans. The research groups in computer vision, graphics, and machine learning have dedicated a substantial amount of attention to the areas of 3D object reconstruction, augmentation, and registration. Deep learning is the predominant method used in artificial intelligence for addressing computer vision challenges. However, deep learning on three-dimensional data presents distinct obstacles and is now in its nascent phase. There have been significant advancements in deep learning specifically for three-dimensional data, offering a range of ways to address these issues. This study offers a comprehensive examination of the latest advancements in deep learning methodologies. We examine many benchmark models for the tasks of 3D object registration, augmentation, and reconstruction. We thoroughly analyse their architectures, advantages, and constraints. In summary, this report provides a comprehensive overview of recent advancements in three-dimensional deep learning and highlights unresolved research areas that will need to be addressed in the future. The 2023 edition of the AIxIA Conference, held in Rome, brought together a large number of researchers and practitioners to discuss the most recent and important advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The conference featured 19 workshops, organized by 77 experts, attracting 248 submissions and resulting in 16 proceedings. This special issue presents extended versions of selected papers initially showcased at these workshops. Each paper underwent rigorous review and represents a diverse array of topics, reflecting the multifaceted nature of the Italian AI community. This paper provides a concise overview of the application of artificial intelligence in the realms of medicine and nanomedicine, with a specific emphasis on the significance and challenges associated with cancer diagnosis. It explores the pivotal role of AI in cancer diagnosis, leveraging structured, unstructured, and multimodal fusion data. Additionally, the article delves into the applications of AI in nanomedicine sensors and nano-oncology drugs. The fundamentals of deep learning and convolutional neural networks are clarified, underscoring their relevance to AI-driven cancer diagnosis. A comparative analysis is presented, highlighting the accuracy and efficiency of traditional methods juxtaposed with AI-based approaches. Objective: Pneumothorax is an acute thoracic disease caused by abnormal air collection between the lungs and chest wall. Recently, artificial intelligence (AI), especially deep learning (DL), has been increasingly employed for automating the diagnostic process of pneumothorax. To address the opaqueness often associated with DL models, explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) methods have been introduced to outline regions related to pneumothorax. However, these explanations sometimes diverge from actual lesion areas, highlighting the need for further improvement., Method: We propose a template-guided approach to incorporate the clinical knowledge of pneumothorax into model explanations generated by XAI methods, thereby enhancing the quality of the explanations. Utilizing one lesion delineation created by radiologists, our approach first generates a template that represents potential areas of pneumothorax occurrence. This template is then superimposed on model explanations to filter out extraneous explanations that fall outside the template's boundaries. To validate its efficacy, we carried out a comparative analysis of three XAI methods (Saliency Map, Grad-CAM, and Integrated Gradients) with and without our template guidance when explaining two DL models (VGG-19 and ResNet-50) in two real-world datasets (SIIM-ACR and ChestX-Det)., Results: The proposed approach consistently improved baseline XAI methods across twelve benchmark scenarios built on three XAI methods, two DL models, and two datasets. The average incremental percentages, calculated by the performance improvements over the baseline performance, were 97.8% in Intersection over Union (IoU) and 94.1% in Dice Similarity Coefficient (DSC) when comparing model explanations and ground-truth lesion areas. We further visualized baseline and template-guided model explanations on radiographs to showcase the performance of our approach., Conclusions: In the context of pneumothorax diagnoses, we proposed a template-guided approach for improving model explanations. Our approach not only aligns model explanations more closely with clinical insights but also exhibits extensibility to other thoracic diseases. Medical imaging is currently using artificial intelligence-based technologies to aid evaluate diagnostic information images, particularly in enforcing kidney stones. Artificial intelligence technology continues to develop, many studies show that deep learning is more widely used compared to traditional machine learning, so an Artificial intelligence system is needed to assist the accuracy of health diagnoses, thus helping in the field of radiology health. The aim of the research is to use artificial intelligence with deep learning models to help detect abnormalities in the kidneys. This research method is a literature review of Scopus data related to deep learning in medical imaging in detecting kidney stones. The results of using Artificial Intelligence in medical imaging can be used in diagnosing diseases including detecting Covid-19, musculoskeletal, calcium scores on Cardiac CT, liver tumors, urinary tract lesions, examination of the abdomen and kidney stones. Utilization of Artificial Intelligence in detecting kidney stones can be done with various classification models including XResNet-50, ExDark19, CystoNet, CNN, ANN. Using the right model and having a high accuracy value can help radiologists to accurately detect kidney stones.

The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to preserve and promote cultural heritage has experienced significant growth in recent years. Among the various areas of cultural heritage, numismatics have emerged as a particularly promising field where we can develop AI solutions. Numismatics refers to the study of coins, tokens, paper money, and medals, which play a critical role in understanding human history and culture. However, there are still limited resources available to help researchers and collectors in the identification of coins. This is due to the vast number of coins in circulation, which presents a significant challenge in developing smart tools for classification tasks. This paper aims to provide a contribution to this setting. In particular, we start by creating a new dataset called EURO-Coin, which consists of images showing the side of coins with reliefs and is designed to facilitate the training and testing of AI models for euro coin classification. Then, we propose two approaches that leverage Convolutional Neural Networks and self-attention layers to classify the country and value of the coins. In our experiments, we obtain an accuracy of 86.9% for country classification and an accuracy of 96.4% for value classification. The emergence of cultured meat presents the potential for personalized food additive manufacturing, offering a solution to address future food resource scarcity. Processing raw materials and products in synthetic food products poses challenges in identifying hazards, impacting the entire industrial chain during the industry's further evolution. It is crucial to examine the correlation of biological information at different levels and to reveal the temporal dynamics jointly. Proposed active prevention method includes four aspects: (i) Investigating the molecular-level mechanism underlying the binding and dissociation of hazards with proteins represents a novel approach to mitigate matrix effect. (ii) Identifying distinct fragments is a pivotal advancement toward developing a novel screening strategy for hazards throughout the food chain. All industries are trying to leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) based on their existing big data which is available in so called tabular form, where each record is composed of a number of heterogeneous continuous and categorical columns also known as features. Deep Learning (DL) has constituted a major breakthrough for AI in fields related to human skills like natural language processing, but its applicability to tabular data has been more challenging. More classical Machine Learning (ML) models like tree-based ensemble ones usually perform better. This paper presents a novel DL model using Graph Neural Network (GNN) more specifically Interaction Network (IN), for contextual embedding and modeling interactions among tabular features. This research aimed to compare two strategies for vocabulary learning (digital-game-based learning and paper-based learning). The research was conducted during the first semester of the academic year 2022/2023. A total of 40 EFL undergraduate students within the Applied English Program of a private university located in the middle part of Taiwan were selected and divided into two groups: digital-based (n = 20) and paper-based (n = 20). The instrument developed by the researcher was pre- and post-vocabulary tests for both groups. The pre-vocabulary test was implemented to identify the level of students' prior knowledge of vocabulary mastery. For the intervention, Kahoot! quiz exercises were conducted weekly for the digital-game-based group, while the paper-based group received the same quiz on paper every week. The post-vocabulary tests showed no significant difference between the students using digital-game-based quizzes and paper-based quizzes during the six-week intervention. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This position paper provides a perspective on the evolutionary trajectory of practical deep learning tools for genitourinary pathology through evaluating the most recent iterations of such algorithmic devices. In the production of paper cups in industrial factories, it is tried to print high quality cups with less waste loss with the help of sensors and heating resistances mounted on the paper cup machine. In this study, a system that detects faulty products based on image processing and removes it by controlling the machine with servo motors, asynchronous motors and programmable logic controller (PLC) is designed. For fault product detection, classification has been performed using real-time Haarcascade algorithm and You Only Look Once (YOLO) algorithm which is a deep learning methods, and real-time object detection has been carried out using the OpenCv library. With this study, an effective faulty product detection and removing hardware system was realized by adapting artificial intelligence algorithms to a machine used in industry. Based on the results, a whole system can be applied to systems that involve removing a faulty product from a band in any production, packaging etc. facility is proposed. A hardware consisting of servo motors, asynchronous motors and PLC was designed to separate faulty cups from the existing paper cup production machine in this study. Then, a data set composed of 1068 images was created with images taken from the camera for faulty and faultless paper cups. Using this dataset, the effect of different deep learning methods on performance in the real-time system has been examined and successful results have been obtained. An increasingly strong connection between artificial intelligence and medicine has enabled the development of predictive models capable of supporting physicians' decision-making. Artificial intelligence encompasses much more than machine learning, which nevertheless is its most cited and used sub-branch in the last decade. Since most clinical problems can be modeled through machine learning classifiers, it is essential to discuss their main elements. This review aims to give primary educational insights on the most accessible and widely employed classifiers in radiology field, distinguishing between "shallow" learning (i.e., traditional machine learning) algorithms, including support vector machines, random forest and XGBoost, and "deep" learning architectures including convolutional neural networks and vision transformers. In addition, the paper outlines the key steps for classifiers training and highlights the differences between the most common algorithms and architectures. Although the choice of an algorithm depends on the task and dataset dealing with, general guidelines for classifier selection are proposed in relation to task analysis, dataset size, explainability requirements, and available computing resources. Considering the enormous interest in these innovative models and architectures, the problem of machine learning algorithms interpretability is finally discussed, providing a future perspective on trustworthy artificial intelligence.Relevance statement The growing synergy between artificial intelligence and medicine fosters predictive models aiding physicians. While various artificial intelligence methods can predict and identify potential DDI, they often overlook the sequence information of drug molecules and fail to comprehensively consider the contribution of molecular substructures to DDI., Results: In this paper, we proposed a novel model for DDI prediction based on sequence and substructure features (SSF-DDI) to address these issues. The analysis includes the distribution of studies by year, the number of studies and citation rankings in journals, and the identification of leading countries, institutions, and authors in the field of AI research. Additionally, we investigate the distribution of studies by Web of Science categories, authors, affiliations, publication years, countries/regions, publishers, research areas, and citations per year. Key findings indicate a continued growth of interest in topics such as deep learning, machine learning, and security in AI over the past few years. We also identify leading countries and institutions active in researching this area. Awareness of data security is essential for the responsible application of AI technologies. The growing number of contaminated sites across the world pose a considerable threat to the environment and human health. Remediating such sites is a cumbersome process with the complexity originating from the need for extensive sampling and testing during site characterization. Selection and design of remediation technology is further complicated by the uncertainties surrounding contaminant attributes, concentration, as well as soil and groundwater properties, which influence the remediation efficiency. Additionally, challenges emerge in identifying contamination sources and monitoring the affected area. Often, these problems are overly simplified, and the data gathered is underutilized rendering the remediation process inefficient. The potential of artificial intelligence (AI), machine-learning (ML), and deep-learning (DL) to address these issues is noteworthy, as their emergence revolutionized the process of data management/analysis. Researchers across the world are increasingly leveraging AI/ML/DL to address remediation challenges. Current study aims to perform a comprehensive literature review on the integration of AI/ML/DL tools into contaminated site remediation. Recent advances in artificial intelligence (AI) for cardiac computed tomography (CT) have shown great potential in enhancing diagnosis and prognosis prediction in patients with cardiovascular disease. Deep learning, a type of machine learning, has revolutionized radiology by enabling automatic feature extraction and learning from large datasets, particularly in image-based applications. Thus, AI-driven techniques have enabled a faster analysis of cardiac CT examinations than when they are analyzed by humans, while maintaining reproducibility. However, further research and validation are required to fully assess the diagnostic performance, radiation dose-reduction capabilities, and clinical correctness of these AI-driven techniques in cardiac CT. Antibody drugs have become a key part of biotherapeutics. Patients suffering from various diseases have benefited from antibody therapies. However, its development process is rather long, expensive and risky. Emotions are a critical aspect of daily life and serve a crucial role in human decision-making, planning, reasoning, and other mental states. As a result, they are considered a significant factor in human interactions. Human emotions can be identified through various sources, such as facial expressions, speech, behavior (gesture/position), or physiological signals. The use of physiological signals can enhance the objectivity and reliability of emotion detection. Compared with peripheral physiological signals, electroencephalogram (EEG) recordings are directly generated by the central nervous system and are closely related to human emotions. EEG signals have the great spatial resolution that facilitates the evaluation of brain functions, making them a popular modality in emotion recognition studies. Emotion recognition using EEG signals presents several challenges, including signal variability due to electrode positioning, individual differences in signal morphology, and lack of a universal standard for EEG signal processing. Moreover, identifying the appropriate features for emotion recognition from EEG data requires further research. Finally, there is a need to develop more robust artificial intelligence (AI) including conventional machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) methods to handle the complex and diverse EEG signals associated with emotional states. This paper examines the application of DL techniques in emotion recognition from EEG signals and provides a detailed discussion of relevant articles. Most of the intracranial aneurysms (ICA) occur on a specific portion of the cerebral vascular tree named the Circle of Willis (CoW). More particularly, they mainly arise onto fifteen of the major arterial bifurcations constituting this circular structure. Hence, for an efficient and timely diagnosis it is critical to develop some methods being able to accurately recognize each Bifurcation of Interest (BoI). Indeed, an automatic extraction of the bifurcations presenting the higher risk of developing an ICA would offer the neuroradiologists a quick glance at the most alarming areas. Due to the recent efforts on Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning turned out to be the best performing technology for many pattern recognition tasks. Moreover, various methods have been particularly designed for medical image analysis purposes. This study intends to assist the neuroradiologists to promptly locate any bifurcation presenting a high risk of ICA occurrence. We develop a vision system for batch inspection by oven white paper model color by manufacturing a machine vision system for the oven manufacturing automation process. In the vision system, white paper object detection (spring), color clustering, and histogram extraction are performed. Significant Wave Height (SWH) is crucial in many aspect of ocean engineering. The accurate prediction of SWH has therefore been of immense practical value. Recently, Artificial Intelligence (AI) time series prediction methods have been widely used for single-point short-term SWH time-series forecasting, resulting in many AI-based models claiming to achieve good results. However, the extent to which these complex AI models can outperform traditional methods has largely been overlooked. This study compared five different models - AutoRegressive (AR), eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGB), Artificial Neural Network (ANN), Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM), and WaveNet - for their performance on SWH time series prediction at 16 buoy locations. Surprisingly, the results suggest that the differences of performance among different models are negligible, indicating that all these AI models have only "learned" the linear auto-regression from the data. Pandemics such as COVID-19 have exposed global inequalities in essential health care. Here, we proposed a novel analytics of nucleic acid amplification tests (NAATs) by combining paper microfluidics with deep learning and cloud computing. Real-time amplifications of synthesized SARS-CoV-2 RNA templates were performed in paper devices. Information pertained to on-chip reactions in time-series format were transmitted to cloud server on which deep learning (DL) models were preloaded for data analysis. DL models enable prediction of NAAT results using partly gathered real-time fluorescence data. Using information provided by the G-channel, accurate prediction can be made as early as 9 min, a 78% reduction from the conventional 40 min mark. Reaction dynamics hidden in amplification curves were effectively leveraged. Positive and negative samples can be unbiasedly and automatically distinguished. Practical utility of the approach was validated by cross-platform study using clinical datasets. Predicted clinical accuracy, sensitivity and specificity were 98.6%, 97.6% and 99.1%. Not only the approach reduced the need for the use of bulky apparatus, but also provided intelligent, distributable and robotic insights for NAAT analysis. Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) is one of the many utilities made possible by embedded systems with internet connections. Through the usage of vehicular cameras, it's possible to capture and classify traffic signs in real time with Artificial Intelligence (AI), more specifically, Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) based techniques. This article discusses the implementation of such TSR systems, and the building process of datasets for AI training. Such datasets include a brand new class to be used in TSR, vegetation occlusion. The results show that this approach is useful in making traffic sign maintenance faster since this application turns vehicles into moving sensors in that context. Leaning on the proposed technique, identified irregularities in traffic signs can be reported to a responsible body so they will eventually be fixed, contributing to a safer traffic environment. CTG (Cardiotocography) is an effective tool for fetal status assessment. Clinically, doctors mainly evaluate the health of fetus by observing FHR (fetal heart rate). The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence has led realization of computer-aided CTG technology, Intelligent CTG classification based on FHR is a fundamental component of these technologies. Its implementation can provide doctors with auxiliary decisions. Most of existing FHR classification methods are based on combing different deep learning models, such as CNN (Convolutional Neural Network), LSTM (Long short-term memory) and Transformer. However, these studies ignore the balance of positive and negative samples in dataset and the matching degree between model and FHR classification task, which reduces the classification accuracy. In this paper, we mainly discuss two major problems in previous FHR classification studies: reduce class imbalance and select appropriate convolution kernel. To address above two problems, we propose a data augmentation method based on ECMN (Edge Clipping and Multiscale Noise) to resolve class imbalance. Subsequently, we introduce a one-dimensional long convolutional layer, which use trend area to calculate the appropriate convolution kernel. Based on appropriate convolution kernel, an improved residual structure with attention mechanism named TGLCN (Trend-Guided Long Convolution Network) is proposed to improve FHR classification accuracy. Adverse weather conditions such as rain and haze often lead to a degradation in the quality of maritime images, which is crucial for activities like navigation, fishing, and search and rescue. Therefore, it is of great interest to develop an effective algorithm to recover high-quality maritime images under adverse weather conditions. This paper proposes a prompt-based learning method with degradation perception for maritime image restoration, which contains two key components: a restoration module and a prompting module. The former is employed for image restoration, whereas the latter encodes weather-related degradation-specific information to modulate the restoration module, enhancing the recovery process for improved results. Inspired by the recent trend of prompt learning in artificial intelligence, this paper adopts soft-prompt technology to generate learnable visual prompt parameters for better perceiving the degradation-conditioned cues. Purpose: This PRISMA-compliant systematic review aims to analyze the existing applications of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and deep learning for rhinological purposes and compare works in terms of data pool size, AI systems, input and outputs, and model reliability., Methods: MEDLINE, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library, and ClinicalTrials.gov databases. Search criteria were designed to include all studies published until December 2021 presenting or employing AI for rhinological applications. We selected all original studies specifying AI models reliability. After duplicate removal, abstract and full-text selection, and quality assessment, we reviewed eligible articles for data pool size, AI tools used, input and outputs, and model reliability., Results: Among 1378 unique citations, 39 studies were deemed eligible. Most studies (n = 29) were technical papers. Input included compiled data, verbal data, and 2D images, while outputs were in most cases dichotomous or selected among nominal classes. The most frequently employed AI tools were support vector machine for compiled data and convolutional neural network for 2D images. Model reliability was variable, but in most cases was reported to be between 80% and 100%., Conclusions: AI has vast potential in rhinology, but an inherent lack of accessible code sources does not allow for sharing results and advancing research without reconstructing models from scratch. In this study, we used image recognition technology to explore different ways to improve the safety of construction workers. Three object recognition scenarios were designed for safety at a construction site, and a corresponding object recognition model was developed for each scenario. The first object recognition model checks whether there are construction workers at the site. The second object recognition model assesses the risk of falling (falling off a structure or falling down) when working at an elevated position. The third object recognition model determines whether the workers are appropriately wearing safety helmets and vests. These three models were newly created using the image data collected from the construction sites and synthetic image data collected from the virtual environment based on transfer learning. In particular, we verified an artificial intelligence model based on a virtual environment in this study. Thus, simulating and performing tests on worker falls and fall injuries, which are difficult to re-enact by humans, are efficient algorithm verification methods. The verification and synthesis data acquisition method based on a virtual environment is one of the main contributions of this study. This paper describes the overall application development approach, including the structure and method used to collect the construction site image data, structure of the training image dataset, image dataset augmentation method, and the artificial intelligence backbone model applied for transfer learning.

Self-collision detection is fundamental to the safe operation of multi-manipulator systems, especially when cooperating in highly dynamic working environments. Existing methods still face the problem that detection efficiency and accuracy cannot be achieved at the same time. In this paper, we introduce artificial intelligence technology into the control system. Based on the Gilbert-Johnson-Keerthi (GJK) algorithm, we generated a dataset and trained a deep neural network (DLNet) to improve the detection efficiency. By combining DLNet and the GJK algorithm, we propose a two-level self-collision detection algorithm (DLGJK algorithm) to solve real-time self-collision detection problems in a dual-manipulator system with fast-continuous and high-precision properties. First, the proposed algorithm uses DLNet to determine whether the current working state of the system has a risk of self-collision; since most of the working states in a system workspace do not have a self-collision risk, DLNet can effectively reduce the number of unnecessary detections and improve the detection efficiency. Then, for the working states with a risk of self-collision, we modeled precise colliders and applied the GJK algorithm for fine self-collision detection, which achieved detection accuracy. The experimental results showed that compared to that with the global use of the GJK algorithm for self-collision detection, the DLGJK algorithm can reduce the time expectation of a single detection in a system workspace by 97.7%. In the path planning of the manipulators, it could effectively reduce the number of unnecessary detections, improve the detection efficiency, and reduce system overhead. The proposed algorithm also has good scalability for a multi-manipulator system that can be split into dual-manipulator systems.
