Workplace violence is a serious public problem affecting millions of women employees each year throughout the world. Researchers have established the prevalence, nature, and the degree of this violence; however, less is known about the effect of workplace violence on women's psychosocial functioning. This research addresses this knowledge gap by examining (a) the relationship between sociodemographic variables and workplace violence, (b) the association between sociodemographic variable and emotional labor, and (c) the effects of workplace violence on emotional demand and social relation. This research draws on a sample of women (n = 201) from Dabat district's civil service sectors, derived using systematic and proportionally stratified simple random sampling techniques. Data were analyzed using univariate analysis, post hoc Dunnett test, and binary logistic regression. Results show that workplace violence affected women employees without the discrimination of baseline variables. However, single women (16.43 [±2.91]) who have bachelor degree and above (16.88 [±2.19]) experienced more workplace violence by managers and colleagues when compared to other sociodemographic variables. Workplace violence mostly made women employees show their emotions to customers match with what they truly feel. From respondents, unmarried women and above degree holders had more likely to show their emotions to the customers directly (unadjusted odds ratio [UOR] = 5.44, 95% confidence interval [CI] = [5.29, 6.25]; adjusted odds ratio [AOR] = 4.88, 95% CI = [4.67, 5.23]), arguably engaging in less emotional dissonance and high emotional labor. Sixty-one percent of respondents were also forced to accept others' points: ideas, concern, and feeling without believing in those views. From these findings, we argue that the workplace violence that women employees experience enables a wave of visible conflict and tension as they had reflected their internal feelings to the clients, coworkers, and managers, and if the women workers have had miscommunication with managers at workplace, it will endanger the institutions to accomplish day-to-day activities. Polish women have not been studied in regard to fear, likelihood, or confidence about dangerous situations, nor has there been an instrument to measure those perceptions. The purpose of the study was fourfold: first, to present the Polish translation and validation of the Perception of Dangerous Situations Scale (PDSS-P) and second, to assess Polish women's perceived fear, likelihood, and confidence about dangerous situations using the PDSS-P (41 items). The third purpose was to determine to what degree the General Self-Efficacy Scale (GSES) and/or the Hope for Success Scale (KNS) correlated with any of the three subscales of the PDSS-P. The fourth purpose was to determine the congruence of the PDSS-P to the original PDSS. Two other tools (GSES and KNS) were administered to determine concurrent validity with the PDSS. A sample of 208 women aged 19 to 27 years (M = 21.04, SD = 1.88) participated in the study. Five factors were determined for each subscale, similar to the original version of the PDSS. Women reported they were more afraid of being raped by a stranger than being murdered. Their estimation of the likelihood of some serious events occurring was not congruent with statistical realities. The women thought the least likely events to happen to them in the next year would be being raped or beaten by someone they know, or being held prisoner by someone who wanted to murder them. Confidence to manage dangerous situations was low in cases of being raped by strangers or known people, being kidnapped, or being attacked. It is well established that adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) negatively impact physical and mental health. There is a paucity of research examining the impact of ACEs on oral health. Therefore, the aim of this study was to better understand how ACEs may impact oral health utilizing a nationally representative sample of females. Data from the 2010 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) were utilized. The sample comprised 36,249 females. Chi-square tests were used to examine associations between multiple forms of ACEs and oral health, mental health, smoking, and health-related quality of life. Logistic regression models were generated for the outcomes of interest: last dental cleaning, significant tooth loss, smoking, and health-related quality of life. Post-hoc analyses were conducted to examine whether smoking and dental cleaning moderated the relationship between ACEs and significant tooth loss. All ACE categories were significantly associated with poor health-related quality of life, being a current or former smoker, last dental cleaning >1 year, and significant tooth loss even after adjusting for demographic variables. Last dental cleaning and being a current or former smoker moderated the relationship between ACEs and significant tooth loss. This study affirms other findings that women with a history of ACEs were more likely to engage in health-risk behaviors, specifically cigarette smoking, which has been strongly associated with ACEs. These findings underscore the importance of including oral health in future studies given it has implications for disease development. Introduction: This pre-post study explored the effect of children's 6 months' experience in one of four early power mobility devices. Method: Satisfaction with parent-selected goal achievement was measured using the wheelchair outcome measure for young people and compared with the assessment of learning powered mobility use, as well as device expectation fulfilment ratings. Results: Forty-six children with mobility limitations, aged 13–68 months (mean 40.40; SD 15.60) participated. The most common condition was cerebral palsy (n = 33; 71.74%). The Wilcoxon signed rank test measured the positive change in goal achievement (z = 4.90; P <0.001; r = 0.51). Fair to good statistically significant Spearman's correlations were observed between power mobility skill and goal achievement, as well as parent and therapist device expectation scores (r s = 0.48, 0.46 and 0.66, respectively; P <0.001). Parent and therapist ratings did not differ significantly. No statistically significant associations were found between goal achievement and child (age, diagnosis, abilities) or environmental factors (device, access method, loan length). Conclusion: Children at all phases of power mobility skill, using various devices and access methods, can demonstrate activity and participation change following power mobility experience. Background: Both margin convergence rotator cuff repair (MC-RCR) and superior capsular reconstruction (SCR) result in improved clinical outcomes in the treatment of massive rotator cuff tears (RCTs). The question remains whether it is better to perform MC-RCR using native, albeit occasionally deficient, tissues or to perform primary SCR. Purpose/Hypothesis: To compare the clinical results of MC-RCR versus SCR for the treatment of massive RCTs. It was hypothesized that SCR would yield better outcomes. Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: Included were patients who underwent arthroscopic MC-RCR or SCR for massive RCTs performed by a single surgeon between 2014 and 2019. MC-RCR was performed if it was technically possible to close the defect; otherwise, SCR was performed. Outcomes were assessed at 6 months and then annually using American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons; Single Assessment Numerical Evaluation; shortened version of Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder and Hand; 12-Item Short Form Health Survey Physical Component Summary; and patient satisfaction scores. The minimal clinically important difference (MCID), substantial clinical benefit (SCB), and Patient Acceptable Symptom State (PASS) were compared between groups. Revision surgeries and complications were reported. Results: Included were 46 patients in the MC-RCR group (mean age, 59 ± 8 years) and 46 patients in the SCR group (mean age, 57 ± 7 years); 29 patients in each group were available at 2-year follow-up. Preoperative outcome scores were not significantly different between groups. Within groups, all outcome scores improved from pre- to postoperatively (P <.05), with no significant differences in postoperative scores or patient satisfaction between groups. No significant between-group differences were noted in the percentage of patients who reached the MCID, SCB, and PASS (MCID, 92.3% vs 84.6%; SCB, 80.8% vs 80.8%; and PASS, 66.7% vs 66.7%). SCR had a significantly lower survivorship rate compared with MC-RCR (84.7% vs 100%) (P =.026). Conclusion: Both MC-RCR and SCR provided similar improvement in outcomes; however, SCR resulted in a significantly lower survivorship rate at 2 years postoperatively. If an RCT is technically repairable, we recommend that it be repaired primarily, even if MC techniques are needed to close the defect. Background: There is no consensus how to determine the varus laxity due to the LCL injury using the ultrasonography. There is a risk of lateral collateral ligament injury during or after arthroscopic extensor carpi radialis brevis release for tennis elbow. The equator of the radial head has been suggested as a landmark for the safe zone to not increase this risk; however, the safe zone from the intra-articular space has not been established. Hypothesis: Increased elbow varus laxity due to lateral collateral ligament–capsular complex (LCL-cc) injury could be assessed reliably via ultrasound. Study Design: Descriptive laboratory study. Methods: Eight cadaveric elbows were evaluated using a custom-made machine allowing passive elbow flexion under gravity varus stress. The radiocapitellar joint (RCJ) space was measured via ultrasound at 30° and 90° of flexion during 4 stages: intact elbow (stage 0), release of the anterior one-third of the LCL-cc (stage 1), release of the anterior two-thirds (stage 2), and release of the entire LCL-cc (stage 3). Two observers conducted the measurements separately, and the mean RCJ space in the 3 LCL-cc injury models (stages 1-3) at both flexion angles was compared with that of the intact elbow (stage 0). We also compared the measurements at 30° versus 90° of flexion. Results: At 30° of elbow flexion, the RCJ space increased 2 mm between stages 0 and 2 (95% confidence interval [CI], 1-3 mm; P <.01) and 4 mm between stages 0 and 3 (95% CI, 2-5 mm; P <.01). At 90° of elbow flexion, the RCJ space increased 1 mm between stages 0 and 2 (95% CI, 1-2 mm; P <.01) and 2 mm between stages 0 and 3 (95% CI, 2-3 mm; P <.01). Conclusion: Elbow varus laxity under gravity stress can be reliably assessed via ultrasound by measuring the RCJ space. Clinical Relevance: Because ultrasonographic measurement of the RCJ space can distinguish the increasing varus laxity seen with release of two-thirds or more of the LCL-cc, the anterior one-third of the LCL-cc, based on the diameter of the radial head, can be considered the safe zone in arthroscopic extensor carpi radialis brevis release for tennis elbow. Background: The association between prolonged postoperative opioid use on outcomes after hip preservation surgery is not known. Purpose: To compare minimum 2-year patient-reported outcomes (PROs) between patients who required ≥1 postoperative opioid refill after undergoing hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement syndrome (FAIS) versus patients who did not require a refill and to identify preoperative predictors for patients requiring ≥1 postoperative opioid refill. Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: Data from consecutive patients who underwent arthroscopic surgery for FAIS between January 2012 and January 2017 were analyzed. Multivariate regression analysis was performed to classify patient and radiographic variables as predictive of requiring ≥1 opioid prescription refill after surgery. Patients completed the following PROs preoperatively and at 2-year follow-up: Hip Outcome Score— Activities of Daily Living subscale (HOS-ADL), HOS–Sports Subscale (HOS-SS), modified Harris Hip Score (mHHS), International Hip Outcome Tool (iHOT-12), and 100-point visual analog scale (VAS) for pain and satisfaction. Scores were compared between patients needing additional prescription opioids and those who did not. Results: A total of 775 patients, of whom 141 (18.2%) required ≥1 opioid prescription refill, were included in the analysis. Patients requiring opioid refills had significantly lower 2-year postoperative PRO scores compared with patients not requiring refills: HOS-ADL (79.9 ± 20.3 vs 88.7 ± 14.9), HOS-SS (64.6 ± 29.5 vs 78.2 ± 23.7), mHHS (74.2 ± 21.1 vs 83.6 ± 15.9), iHOT-12 (63.6 ± 27.9 vs 74.9 ± 24.8), and VAS satisfaction (73.4 ± 30.3 vs 82.2 ± 24.9), as well as significantly more pain (26.8 ± 23.4 vs 17.9 ± 21.8) (P ≤.001 for all). Predictors of requiring a postoperative opioid refill included patients with active preoperative opioid use (odds ratio, 3.12 [95% confidence interval, 1.06-9.21]; P =.039) and larger preoperative alpha angles (odds ratio, 1.04 [95% confidence interval, 1.01-1.07]; P =.03). Conclusion: Patients requiring ≥1 opioid prescription refill after hip arthroscopy for FAIS had lower preoperative and 2-year PRO scores when compared with patients not requiring refills. Background: Ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) injury is a common sports injury among overhead-throwing athletes and causes medial elbow pain and instability. UCL injury is generally diagnosed based on symptoms, physical findings, and image evaluation. To standardize the method for evaluating elbow valgus instability, more information is needed regarding changes in the medial elbow joint space (JS) in healthy elbows. Purpose/Hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to measure the JS during the application of elbow valgus stress at different elbow flexion angles and loads and to clarify the presence of defensive muscle contractions during elbow valgus stress. It was hypothesized that the JS will differ according to different limb positions and loads and that defensive contractions will occur when elbow valgus stress is >90 N. Study Design: Controlled laboratory study. Methods: Elbow joints on the nondominant side were examined in 20 healthy male university students (mean age, 21 ± 0.2 years) at 30°, 60°, and 90° of elbow flexion. To create valgus stress on the elbow, loads of 30, 60, 90, 120, and 150 N were applied with a Telos stress device and with gravity stress on the forearm. The medial JS was measured ultrasonographically during the application of elbow valgus stress. Electrodes were attached to the pronator teres muscle, and defensive muscle contractions were measured using electromyography during the application of elbow valgus stress. Repeated-measures analysis of variance and paired t tests were used to compare the JS at each elbow angle and each valgus stress load, and the Bonferroni method was used as a post hoc test. Results: At 30° of elbow flexion, the JS was significantly higher at 30 N versus 0 N and at 60 N versus 0 or 30 N (P ≤.018 for all). At 60° of flexion, the JS was significantly higher at 30 N versus 0 N, at 60 N versus 0 and 30 N, and at 90 N versus 0, 30, and 60 N (P ≤.024 for all). At 90° of elbow flexion, the JS was significantly higher at 30 N versus 0 N and at 60 N versus 0 and 30 N (P ≤.028 for all). Defensive muscle contraction did not occur at any elbow flexion angles at elbow valgus stress ≤60 N. Conclusion: The lack of muscular contraction at elbow valgus stress ≤60 N may reflect the function of the medial collateral ligament. Background: Globally, countries are rolling out Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) quarantine policies and vaccination programs. Research studies are needed in helping understand the likelihood of acquired immunity to reinfection and identify priority groups for vaccination to inform them. This study aimed to assess period prevalence and longitudinal changes in antibody levels after SARS-CoV-2 infection in Qatari primary care settings. Methods: A cohort study design with 2 data collection phases was undertaken—Phase 1 (conducted in July 2020) and Phase 2 (conducted in October 2020). A stratified random sampling technique by age, gender and nationality was utilized to identify the study sample. The total sample size required for the study was estimated to be 2102. Participants were invited to an appointment where they were administered a questionnaire and provided samples for polymerase chain reaction and Immunoglobulin G immunoassay tests. Results: A total of 943 individuals participated in both Phase 1 and Phase 2. In this cohort, seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2 was found to be 12% (N = 113) in Phase 1 and 17.2% (N = 162) in Phase 2. Of the 113 participants who were seropositive in Phase 1, 38.1% (CI 29.5-47.2%, N = 43) had a reduction, 54.9% (CI 45.7-63.8%, N = 62) had no change, and 7.1% (CI 3.4-12.9%, N = 8) had an increase in IgG titer in Phase 2. All (N = 18) participants aged 10 to 17 years retained their antibodies. The proportion of men who retained their antibodies was slightly higher compared to women—92.5% (N = 74) and 87.9% (N = 29) respectively. Similarly, symptomatic individuals (97.8%; N = 45) had a higher antibody retention compared with asymptomatic individuals (86.4%; N = 57). Conclusions: This study provides preliminary information on the longitudinal changes in antibody levels after SARS-CoV-2 infection. Background and Objectives: The effect of the ambient environment, sound, light, and movement, on the nighttime rest-activity of patients hospitalized with moderate-severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) is poorly understood. The purpose of this study was to examine how sound, light, and movement in these patients' hospital rooms may contribute to nighttime awakenings. Methods: An observational design was used with 18 adult participants on a neuroscience step-down unit diagnosed with moderate-severe TBI. For up to five consecutive nights, actigraphy was used to capture nighttime awakenings while a custom-made multisensory device captured sound, light, and movement exposures in the participant's room. Results: Participants were awake for 24% (or about 3 hr) of the time during the designated nighttime period of 8 pm to 8 am. Average nighttime exposures of sound was 52 dB, light was nine lumens, and movement, measured as a proportion, was 0.28% or 28%. With each stimuli exposure set at its average, there was a 20% probability of participant nighttime awakenings. Clinically meaningful reductions of movement in and out the participant's room and elevated sound significantly decreases the participant's probability of nighttime awakenings (p <.05), but reductions in light did not. Studies show that experiencing intimate partner violence (IPV) during pregnancy is related to poor maternal–infant bonding. However, the mechanisms underlying this relationship are unclear. This article aims to examine whether maternal postpartum depressive (PPD) symptoms mediate the association between pregnancy IPV and maternal–infant bonding, and whether the relationship differs by maternal–infant bonding subscales—lack of affection, anger/rejection. A survey was conducted among women who participated in a postpartum health check-up program in Aichi prefecture, Japan (N = 6,590) in 2012. We examined whether experiences of emotional and physical IPV were related to maternal–infant bonding and whether PPD symptoms mediated this relationship. Path analysis showed that emotional and physical IPV were associated with PPD symptoms, and PPD symptoms predicted poor bonding. The total effect of emotional IPV on poor bonding was significant, showing a marginally significant direct effect and statistically significant indirect effect. The total effect of physical IPV on poor bonding was not statistically significant. Emotional IPV was significantly associated with both lack of affection and anger/rejection bonding subscales, which were similarly mediated by PPD symptoms. Findings revealed a modest indirect association between IPV, emotional IPV in particular, and poor maternal–infant bonding, which was mediated by PPD symptoms. While prevention of IPV is the ultimate goal, the treatment of PPD symptoms among women who experience IPV during pregnancy may improve maternal–infant bonding and mitigate cross-generational effects of IPV. Religion is seen as one of the main causes of honor violence; yet, empirical studies investigating this purported relationship remain scarce. Therefore, we investigated how individual and social religious practices, religious fundamentalism, and demographic variables contribute to support for honor killings of women and men. We analyzed multinational face-to-face interview data of Muslims with a final sample size of N = 25,723. Using multilevel ordinal regression, we found that increased support for honor killings was strongly predicted by the frequency of mosque attendance, religious fundamentalism, a lower educational level, and living in a rural area. Conversely, gender and the frequency of private prayer did not significantly relate to support for honor killings. Thus, different aspects of religion have differential effects: Individual aspects of religious practice such as private prayer seem to be not significantly related to support for honor violence, whereas social aspects such as mosque attendance and religious fundamentalism strongly predict an increased support for honor killings. Objective: To compare the effects of Wii and conventional training on functional abilities and neurocognitive function in basketball-players with Functional Ankle Instability (FAI). Design: Single-blind matched randomized clinical trial study. Setting: Outpatients setting. Participants: Fifty-four basketball-players were randomly assigned to the Wii and control group. Interventions: All athletes in the Wii group (n = 27) performed Wii Fit Plus games; and in the control group (n = 27), they performed conventional training three days a week for 12 sessions. Main outcome measures: To assess functional performance and neurocognitive function, we used hop tests (8-hop, side hop, and single hop) and Deary-Liewald Reaction Time Task (DLRT), respectively. DLRT measured simple and choice reaction time and error rate. Measures were taken at baseline, four weeks, and eight weeks after baseline. Results: In all 54 athletes completed the study. The results showed no significant differences for all hop tests in between-group comparison but the neurocognitive function showed significant improvements in the Wii group compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Mean (SD) for 8-hop and side hop tests for the involved limb, and simple and choice reaction time four weeks after baseline in the control group were 10.15 (1.02), 12.36 (1.31), and 339.10 (41.57), 530.52 (53.36), respectively and in the Wii group, were 10.46 (1.23), 12.40 (1.31), and 295.25 (13.16), 431.19 (33.46), respectively. Conclusion: Based on our results, both training protocols were equal to positively affect functional abilities. Background: Arthroscopic reshaping surgery is the first treatment option for a symptomatic discoid lateral meniscus (DLM) to preserve the peripheral rim. However, the degree of postoperative morphological change in the residual meniscus is unclear. Purpose/Hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to measure the meniscus after reshaping surgery for a DLM, to verify when the morphological change occurred, and to examine the related risk factors. The hypothesis was that the residual meniscal width would decrease throughout the postoperative course. Study Design: Case-control study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of patients who underwent reshaping surgery for a symptomatic DLM and had undergone follow-up for ≥2 years. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was routinely performed preoperatively and at 3, 6, 12, and 24 months postoperatively, and the width, height, and extrusion of the residual meniscus were measured. According to the width of the midbody on final MRI scans, we compared the preoperative and postoperative data for the preserved group (≥5 mm) and decreased group (<5 mm). The associated risk factors for a decreased meniscal width (<5 mm) of the midbody were analyzed on final MRI scans. Results: We included 61 knees of 54 patients in this study. The mean age at the time of surgery was 11.7 years. The intraobserver and interobserver reliabilities of the midbody width were 0.937 and 0.921, respectively. The width of the anterior horn, midbody, and posterior horn decreased significantly from 3 to 24 months after surgery (from 9.1 to 8.6 mm [ P <.001], from 7.5 to 6.1 mm [ P <.001], and from 9.5 to 8.9 mm [ P =.001], respectively). Meniscal extrusion of the midbody did not change significantly (from 1.2 to 1.5 mm; P =.062). Overall, 46 knees (n = 20/32 in the preserved group and n = 26/29 in the decreased group) had longitudinal tears that required meniscal repair. Clinical outcomes did not differ significantly between the 2 groups. Multivariate logistic analysis showed that intrameniscal degeneration (odds ratio, 4.36; P =.023) significantly increased the risk of a decreased meniscal width. Conclusion: The width of the anterior horn, midbody, and posterior horn decreased significantly from 3 to 24 months after surgery. In particular, the average decrease rate of the midbody was 19%. No clinical difference was seen in patients with a decreased width and height or with peripheral extrusion. Increased intrameniscal signals on preoperative MRI scans were associated with an increased risk of a decreased meniscal width. Background: The distribution of contact forces across the dysplastic patellofemoral joint has not been adequately quantified because models cannot easily mimic the dysplasia of both the trochlea and the patella. Thus, the mechanical consequences of surgical treatments to correct dysplasia cannot be established. Purpose/Hypothesis: The objective of this study was to quantify the contact mechanics and kinematics of normal, mild, and severely dysplastic patellofemoral joints using synthetic mimics of the articulating surfaces on cadavers. We tested the hypothesis that severely dysplastic joints would result in significantly increased patellofemoral contact forces and abnormal kinematics. Study Design: Controlled laboratory study. Method: Patellofemoral dysplasia was simulated in 9 cadaveric knees by replacing the native patellar and trochlear surfaces with synthetic patellar and trochlear implants. For each knee, 3 synthetic surface geometries (normal, showing no signs of dysplasia; mild, exemplifying Dejour type A; and severe, exemplifying Dejour type B) were randomized for implantation and testing. Patellar kinematics and the sum of forces acting on the medial and lateral patellar facets were computed for each knee and for each condition at 10° increments from 0° to 70° of flexion. Results: A pronounced lateral shift in the weighted center of contact of the lateral facet occurred for severely dysplastic knees from 20° to 70° of flexion. Compared with normal geometries, lateral patellar facet forces exhibited a significant increase only with mild dysplasia from 50° to 70° of flexion and with severe dysplasia at 70° of flexion. No measurable differences in medial patellar facet mechanics or joint kinematics occurred. Conclusion: Our hypothesis was rejected: Severely dysplastic joints did not result in significantly increased patellofemoral contact forces and abnormal kinematics in our cadaveric simulation. Rather, severe dysplasia resulted in a pronounced lateral shift in contact forces across the lateral patellar facet, while changes in kinematics and the magnitude of contact forces were not significant. Clinical Relevance: Including dysplasia of both the patella and trochlea is required to fully capture the mechanics of this complex joint. Objective: Existing systematic reviews and meta-analyses indicate that acupuncture has similar clinical effectiveness in the prevention of headache disorders (HDs) as drug therapy, but with fewer side effects. As such, examining acupuncture's use in a pragmatic, real-world setting would be valuable. The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of acupuncture and prophylactic drug treatment (PDT) on headache frequency in patients with HDs, under real-world clinical conditions. Methods: Retrospective cohort study of patients with HDs referred to a pain clinic, using electronic health record data. Patients continued with tertiary care (treatment of acute headache attacks and lifestyle, meditation, exercise and dietary instructions) with PDT, or received 12 sessions of acupuncture over 3 months, instead of PDT under conditions of tertiary care. The primary outcome data were the number of days with headache per month, and groups were compared at baseline and at the end of the third month of treatment. Results: Data were analysed for 482 patients with HDs. The number of headache days per month decreased by 3.7 (standard deviation (SD) = 2.9) days in the acupuncture group versus 2.9 (SD = 2.3) in the PDT group (p = 0.007). The proportion of responders was 39.5% versus 16.3% (p < 0.001). The number needed to treat was 4 (95% confidence interval = 3–7). Conclusion: Our study has shown that patients with HDs in tertiary care who opted for treatment with acupuncture appeared to receive similar clinical benefits to those that chose PDT, suggesting these treatments may be similarly effective of the prevention of headache in a real-world clinical setting. Background: Evaluation of meniscal healing status after repair is important, as it allows the surgeon to inform patients whether they can increase their activities or return to sports. Purpose: To identify the healing rates after arthroscopic repair of meniscal tears via second-look arthroscopic evaluation. Study Design: Systematic review; Level of evidence, 4. Methods: Searches of PubMed, Embase, Scopus, and the Cochrane databases were conducted to identify relevant studies published before June 1, 2020. Studies were eligible for this meta-analysis if they provided data regarding healing status of the meniscus at second-look arthroscopy. Random-effects meta-analyses were generated to provide pooled meniscal healing estimates. We further performed subgroup analysis to investigate the healing rates of the meniscus under different situations. Results: A total of 41 studies with 1908 individuals were included in the study. The pooled analysis showed the complete healing rate was 74% (95% confidence interval [CI], 67%-80%), the partial healing rate was 10% (95% CI, 6%-16%), and the failure rate was 12% (95% CI, 10%-15%) for arthroscopic repair of meniscal tears via second-look arthroscopic evaluation. Sensitivity analysis demonstrated that no individual study affected the overall healing rate by >1%. Subgroup analysis found higher meniscal healing rates in patients with the following characteristics: age <40 years, male, body mass index <26, red-red tear location, tear in posterior horn, vertical tear, outside-in technique, repair concomitant with anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, weight-restricted rehabilitation, and time interval from meniscal repair to second-look arthroscopy >12 months. Background: The influence of femoral torsion on clinically significant outcome improvement after hip arthroscopy for femoroacetabular impingement syndrome (FAIS) has not been well-studied. Purpose: To quantify femoral torsion in FAIS patients using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and explore the relationship between femoral torsion and clinically significant outcome improvement after hip arthroscopy. Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: Included were patients who underwent hip arthroscopy for FAIS between January 2012 and August 2018 and had 2-year follow-up and preoperative MRI scans containing transcondylar slices of the knee. Participants were categorized as having severe retrotorsion (SR; <0°), normal torsion (NT; 0°-25°), and severe antetorsion (SA; >25°) as measured on MRI. Patient-reported outcomes (PROs) included the Hip Outcome Score–Activities of Daily Living, Hip Outcome Score–Sports Subscale, modified Harris Hip Score, 12-item International Hip Outcome Tool (iHOT-12), and visual analog scale (VAS) for pain and satisfaction. Achievement of Patient Acceptable Symptom State (PASS) and substantial clinical benefit (SCB) were analyzed among cohorts. Results: Included were 183 patients (SR, n = 13; NT, n = 154; SA, n = 16) with a mean age, body mass index, and femoral torsion of 30.6 ± 12.1 years, 24.0 ± 4.4 kg/m2, and 12.55° ± 9.58°, respectively. The mean torsion was –4.5° ± 2.6° for the SR, 12.1° ± 6.8° for the NT, and 31.0° ± 3.6° for the SA group. There were between-group differences in the proportion of patients who achieved PASS and SCB on the iHOT-12, pain VAS, and any PRO (P <.05). Post hoc analysis indicated that the SA group achieved lower rates of PASS and SCB on the iHOT-12 and pain VAS, and lower rates of PASS on any PRO versus the SR group (P <.05); the SR group achieved higher rates of PASS and SCB on pain VAS scores versus the NT group (P =.003). Conclusion: The orientation and severity of femoral torsion during hip arthroscopy influenced the propensity for clinically significant outcome improvement. Background: Meniscal injuries are commonly associated with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tears. Treatment of meniscal injuries can impart delayed weightbearing and range of motion restrictions, which can affect the rehabilitation protocol. The effect of meniscal treatment and subsequent restrictions on strength recovery after ACL reconstruction is unclear. Purpose/Hypothesis: The purpose of this study was to compare strength, jumping performance, and patient-reported outcomes between patients who underwent isolated ACL reconstruction (ACLR) and those who underwent surgical intervention for meniscal pathology at the time of ACLR. Our hypothesis was that patients who underwent concurrent meniscal repair (MR) would have lower strength recovery owing to postoperative restrictions. Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: Patients with ACLR were stratified into isolated ACLR, ACLR and meniscectomy (ACLR-MS), or ACLR-MR groups and were compared with healthy controls. The ACLR-MR group was restricted to partial weightbearing and to 90° of knee flexion for the first 6 weeks postoperatively. All participants completed patient-reported outcomes (International Knee Documentation Committee [IKDC] and Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score [KOOS]) and underwent bilateral isokinetic and isometric strength tests of the knee extensor and flexor groups as part of a return-to-sports test battery at 5 to 7 months postoperatively. Results: A total of 165 patients with ACLR (50 with isolated ACLR, 44 with ACLR-MS, and 71 with ACLR-MR) and 140 healthy controls were included in the study. Follow-up occurred at a mean of 5.96 ± 0.47 months postoperatively. The control group demonstrated higher subjective knee function, unilateral peak extensor torque, and limb symmetry than did the ACLR-MS and ACLR-MR groups combined (P <.001 for all). There were no differences in IKDC, KOOS subscales, or unilateral or limb symmetry measures of peak knee extensor or flexor torque among the isolated ACLR, ACLR-MS, and ACLR-MR groups. Conclusion: Persistent weakness, asymmetry, and reduced subjective outcome scores at 6-month follow-up after ACLR were not influenced by meniscal treatment. These findings suggested that the weightbearing and range of motion restrictions associated with meniscal repair recovery do not result in loss of early strength or worse patient-reported outcomes. Background: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) may affect concussion risk and recovery in youth athletes. Purpose: To evaluate the association between incidence of concussion and postinjury recovery of symptoms and neurocognitive dysfunction among youth athletes with ADHD and differential stimulant use. Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: From 2009 to 2019, the authors administered the Immediate Post-concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing (ImPACT) to youth athletes at the beginning of each season. Throughout the season, athletes with concussions were examined and readministered the ImPACT both postinjury and again 7 days after the postinjury administration. These athletes (N = 7453) were divided into those with ADHD on stimulant-based therapy (ADHD+meds; n = 167), those with ADHD not on stimulant-based therapy (ADHD-only; n = 354), and those with no ADHD (non-ADHD; n = 6932). Recovery of neurocognitive dysfunction at postinjury and follow-up was calculated using the ImPACT symptom score, verbal memory, visual memory, visual motor skills, and reaction time (calculated as standardized deviations from baseline). Univariate results were confirmed with multivariate analysis. Results: The ADHD+meds cohort had a lower incidence of concussion (37.3 concussions per 100 patient-years) compared with the ADHD-only group (57.0 concussions per 100 patient-years) (odds ratio [OR], 0.51 [95% CI, 0.37-0.71]; P <.0001) and non-ADHD group (52.8 concussions per 100 patient-years) (OR, 0.50 [95% CI, 0.37-0.67]; P <.0001). At postinjury, ImPACT scores were elevated from baseline to a similar extent in the ADHD+meds cohort compared with the other 2 groups. By follow-up, however, deviations from baseline were lower among the ADHD+meds group compared with the non-ADHD group in verbal memory (OR, 0.46 [95% CI, 0.28-0.76]; P =.002), visual memory (OR, 0.27 [95% CI, 0.10-0.66]; P =.005), and visual motor skills (OR, 0.58 [95% CI, 0.33-0.99]; P =.048). The deviation at follow-up was also lower among the ADHD+meds group compared with the ADHD-only group in visual memory (OR, 0.56 [95% CI, 0.33-0.96]; P =.04) and visual motor skills (OR, 0.42 [95% CI, 0.22-0.81]; P =.01). Conclusion: Stimulant use among youth athletes with ADHD was independently associated with reduced incidence for concussion and lower deviation from baseline in verbal memory, visual memory, and visual motor skills at 7 days postconcussion, suggesting lower neurocognitive impairment at follow-up in this group versus their peers. The objective of this study was to analyze whether the experience of violence by teachers in the school environment increases the risk of teachers suffering violence again within a 2-year period. This longitudinal study included 430 primary and secondary public school teachers from a city in the south of Brazil, with data collected at two time points: T1 (2012-2013) and T2 (2014-2015). The data were obtained via face-to-face interviews and the completion of a questionnaire. The forms of violence investigated included reports of insults from students, humiliation or embarrassment by colleagues or superiors, and threats and physical violence from any member of the school occurring in the 12 months prior to the study. McNemar's test and the Poisson regression with robust error variance were used in the analyses, and the relative risk (RR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were calculated. After 2 years, there was a reduction in violence reported by the teachers from 65.4% (T1) to 56.9% (T2) (p =.003). Teachers who suffered a certain form of violence had three times the risk of suffering that type of violence again. Those who reported three or four forms of violence at T1 had an RR of 2.23 of suffering any form of violence at T2 (95% CI [1.70, 2.93]) compared with those who did not report violence at T1. Psychological violence at T1 was not associated with physical violence at T2, nor was physical violence at T1 associated with psychological violence at T2. Despite the reduction in violence against teachers reported at T2, some forms of violence remained stable after 2 years. Within correctional settings, incarcerated women have disproportionately high rates of experiencing staff-perpetrated sexual victimization. In addition, only a small proportion of incarcerated women formally report their victimization experiences to correctional staff and even fewer reports are fully investigated by internal investigators and found to be substantiated. Given the multiple steps in this process, incarcerated women face several possible justice gaps in receiving preventive and intervention-focused responses from correctional staff. Racial differences among incarcerated women's experiences of these steps have not been explored. This study used a structural intersectional framework to examine racial differences in these areas: incarcerated women's experiences of staff-perpetrated rape, reporting decisions, and correctional staff's investigation decisions. With a sample of 180 incarcerated women, this study included analysis of archival data (i.e., settlement claim forms and internal investigation files) from a class action lawsuit involving incarcerated women who had experienced staff sexual misconduct. Black women represented over half of the incarcerated women who experienced staff-perpetrated rape. There were no statistical differences between Black and White women with regard to the characteristics of their victimization experiences, and they had similar rates of reporting their victimization to institutional staff. However, significant differences were found between women with regard to prison staff's responses to their reports; Black women were less likely to have their reports investigated by staff and were more likely to have their investigated reports found to be unsubstantiated. A detailed analysis of 100 specific incidents showed similar findings. Thus, while justice gaps existed for all women, gaps in institutional responses were exacerbated for Black women. Centering incarcerated Black women's experiences is pivotal for guiding efforts to transform correctional settings, to prevent and address staff-perpetrated sexual victimization, and to build safety for incarcerated women. Although intimate partner violence (IPV) is highly prevalent among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) young adults, only little is known regarding gender identity disparities in this population. Furthermore, virtually no research has examined IPV-related help-seeking patterns among LGBTQ young adults, including whether there are gender identity disparities in these rates and whether specific services are most likely to be used by LGBTQ young adults across IPV type. Participants were 354 LGBTQ young adults (ages: 18-25, 33.6% transgender and gender nonconforming [TGNC]) who experienced IPV victimization during their lifetime. TGNC young adults experienced more identity abuse victimization and reported 2.06 times the odds of seeking medical services, 2.15 times the odds of seeking support services, and 1.66 times the odds of seeking mental health services compared to cisgender sexual minority young adults. LGBTQ young adults with physical abuse victimization reported 2.63 times the odds of seeking mental health services, 2.93 times the odds of seeking medical care, and 2.40 times the odds of seeking support services compared to LGBTQ young adults without physical abuse victimization. Finally, LGBTQ young adults with identity abuse reported 2.08 times the odds of seeking mental health services and 2.58 times the odds of seeking support services compared to LGBTQ young adults without identity abuse. These findings provide a more complete understanding of gender identity as both risk and protective factors for IPV and IPV-related help-seeking. Children referred to child protective services (CPS) for allegations of abuse or neglect often have diverse experiences of maltreatment, adversity, and trauma. Severity of these experiences is associated with greater mental health impairment and increased risk of revictimization and other adversities. Although aspects of these experiences are often captured during CPS investigations and stored in case records as narrative documents, much of this information is underutilized in estimating risk and service planning. The current study extracted case record information from a randomly selected sample of 100 families, with 150 children referred to CPS during a 12-month period. The Yale-Vermont Adversity in Childhood Scale (Y-VACS) was applied to extracted information for quantifying severity of various forms of childhood maltreatment, adversity, and trauma. Study aims were to examine (a) the scope and severity of maltreatment, adversity, and trauma types and their associations; (b) linkages between severity and CPS allegation types and outcomes; and (c) the utility of severity in predicting new allegations of abuse or neglect within 12 months of referral. Results indicated feasibility in quantifying severity of maltreatment and other adversities from case record information and revealed associations between adversity severity and CPS allegation types and outcomes. Severity of psychological intimate partner violence and neglect were predictive of new allegations of abuse or neglect within 12 months of referral. Introduction: Limited inquiries exist for perceptions of physical competence for people with visual impairments, since there are no specific, psychometrically tested scales. The purpose of this study was to establish the psychometric properties of the Test of Perceived Physical Competence (TPPC) for individuals with visual impairments aged 9–19 years. Methods: Experts (N = 12) provided feedback for content and face validity. Then, after assessing 179 individuals with visual impairments, McDonald's Omega, and Confirmatory Factor Analyses were used to evaluate the internal consistency and structure. Finally, results of the TPPC were compared with the Self-Perception Profiles for Children/Adolescents for divergent validity. Results: The standardized root mean square residual result of 0.053 and the Comparative Fit Index result of 0.95 indicated acceptable fit. The percent of variation in each item explained by the factor varied from 44% (item 3) to 63% (item 6). McDonald's Omega for the one-factor scale is 0.987, and the perceived physical competence subscale of the Self-Perception Profiles for Children and TPPC have a Spearman correlation coefficient of 0.469 (95% confidence interval = 0.269–0.630). Discussion: Having a psychometrically strong scale to measure perceived physical competence of individuals with visual impairments is the first step in being able to replicate current, seminal research among this unique population. This adaptation of Harter's perceived physical competence subscale uniquely assesses the child's perceptions of physical competence among peers with visual impairments. This measure, coupled with the power to examine its predictive abilities, is important for children and adolescents with visual impairments, since they possess great tendencies for obesity and sedentary behavior. Implications for practitioners: If practitioners would like to change tendencies for obesity and sedentary behavior, then, they must include perceptions of physical competence as a latent construct. Both quality of life (QoL) and caregiver burden are essential constructs in patients with pulmonary hypertension (PH) however; their relationship has never been investigated before. The aim of this study was to evaluate if there was any relationship between patients' QoL and caregiver burden. Patients with PH and their caregivers were included. Patients' age, sex, World Health Organization (WHO) functional class, systolic pulmonary arterial pressure (sPAP), and six-minute walk distances (6MWD) were recorded. Patients' QoL was assessed using emPHasis-10 and caregiver burden with the Zarit Caregiver Burden Scale. 72 patient-caregiver dyads were included. Caregiver burden was significantly correlated with the QoL(r = 0.39 p <.003), but was not correlated with other clinical parameters. Patients' QoL showed significant negative correlation with the 6MWD(r = −0.46 p <.005). There is a moderate correlation between QoL and caregiver burden. Word retrieval and lexical organization were explored in 16 Danish children with slight to severe hearing loss (HL), 11 children with developmental language disorder (DLD), and 25 typically developing (TD) children in the age range of 7 to 12 years. There is a special focus on children with HL with and without language difficulties compared with children with DLD. Word retrieval and lexical organization are assessed with a Semantic Verbal Fluency Task. Background assessment of language comprehension is assessed with Test for Reception of Grammar–Version 2 (TROG-2) and nonverbal IQ is assessed with Block Design from the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children–Fourth Edition (WISC-IV). Main findings show that children with HL without language difficulties did not show any significant word retrieval or lexical organization difficulties compared with TD children. Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) is an understudied health problem among young gay, bisexual, and other non-identified young men who have sex with men (YMSM). According to cross-sectional studies, IPV is associated with psychosocial and mental health problems, such as stigma and depression, among YMSM. IPV is also associated with health-risk behaviors, such as substance use, among this population. Yet, to date, no studies have used longitudinal data to examine determinants of IPV among YMSM. This gap in the extant literature is problematic, as it limits our understanding of how to intervene to interrupt cycles of violence. The aim of the present study was to examine longitudinal determinants of IPV among a sample of (N = 526) YMSM living in the New York City area. Longitudinal analyses using Generalized Estimating Equations (GEE) were used to examine individual, relationship, mental health, psychosocial, and substance use factors in relation to IPV victimization and perpetration. Most notably, early experiences of IPV were a robust predictor of later experiences of IPV victimization and perpetration. Relationship status, depression, public gay-related stigma, and illicit substance use were associated with IPV victimization over time. Similarly, relationship status, depression, public gay-related stigma, marijuana, and other illicit substance were associated with IPV perpetration. These findings suggest that prevention programs and awareness campaigns should aim to reach YMSM before their first experiences of relationship violence, as these early experiences of violence are strongly linked to later experiences of violence. Also, IPV interventions should be tailored to the needs of YMSM and should target depressive symptoms, gay-related stigma, and substance use behaviors. Additionally, substance use interventions may be improved by addressing IPV. Finally, policymakers should support policies that improve the social climate for LGBTQ people, thereby reducing gay-related stigma, and potentially stemming violence against and among YMSM. Objective: To assess the effectiveness of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) combined with selected physical therapy exercise program on male patients with pudendal neuralgia. Design: A double-blinded randomized controlled study. Setting: Out-patient setting. Participants: Fifty-two male participants with pudendal neuralgia (30–50 years) were allocated randomly into two groups; study and control. The same physical therapy exercises were applied to all participants, plus the same prescribed analgesic medication (Etodolac). Participants in the study group received additional TENS and sham TENS were given to those in control group. Intervention: Intervention lasted for 12 weeks, three sessions per week (60 minutes/session). Outcome measures: Numerical pain rating scale and daily Etodolac intake dose were measured before and after intervention. Results: Statistically significant differences were detected in numerical pain rating scale and daily Etodolac intake in favor of the study group (P < 0.05). After 12 weeks of intervention, the mean ± SD for numerical pain rating scale and daily Etodolac intake were 4.25 ± 1.9 and 259.25 ± 84.4 mg, in the study group, and 6.22 ± 2.22 and 355.55 ± 93.36 mg in the control group, respectively. The mean difference (95% CI) for numerical pain rating scale and daily Etodolac intake was −1.97 (−3.09: −0.83) and −96.3 (−144.9: −47.69), between groups post treatment, respectively. Conclusion: Adding TENS to physical therapy exercise program is more effective than physical therapy program alone in improving pain in male patients with pudendal neuralgia as measured by numerical pain rating scale and daily analgesic intake dose. Objective: The longer-term effectiveness of silicone and pressure burn scar interventions was evaluated at 12-months postburn. Design: Parallel group, randomised trial. Setting: Hospital outpatient clinics, research centre. Participants: Children referred for burn scar management following grafted or spontaneously healed acute burn injuries or scar reconstruction surgery. Interventions: Participants were randomised to: (1) topical silicone gel only, (2) pressure garment only, or (3) combined topical silicone gel and pressure garment. Main measures: Primary outcomes were scar thickness (blinded ultrasound measurement) and itch intensity (caregiver proxy-report, numeric rating scale). Results: Of 153 participants randomised who received the interventions (silicone n = 51, pressure garment n = 49, combined n = 53), 86 were followed-up at 12-months postburn (n = 34, n = 28, n = 24). No differences were identified for the primary outcomes using intention-to-treat analysis. Scar thickness mean difference (95% confidence interval) = 0.00 cm (−0.04, 0.05); −0.03 cm (−0.07, 0.02); 0.03 cm (−0.02, 0.08) and scar itch = 0.09 (−0.88, 1.06); −0.21 (−1.21, 0.79); 0.30 (−0.73, 1.32) for silicone vs pressure; silicone vs combined and combined vs pressure respectively. No serious adverse effects occurred. Conclusion: Similar to short-term results, the combined intervention offered no statistically or clinically significant benefit for improving the primary outcomes compared to each intervention alone. Background: Although blood flow restriction (BFR) is becoming increasingly popular in physical therapy and athletic training settings, little is known about the effects of BFR combined with low-intensity exercise (LIX) on muscles proximal to the site of occlusion. Hypothesis/Purpose: Determine whether LIX combined with BFR applied distally to the shoulder on the brachial region of the arm (BFR-LIX) promotes greater increases in shoulder lean mass, rotator cuff strength, endurance, and acute increases in shoulder muscle activation compared with LIX alone. We hypothesized that BFR-LIX would elicit greater increases in rotator cuff strength, endurance, and muscle mass. We also hypothesized that the application of BFR would increase EMG amplitude in the shoulder muscles during acute exercise. Study Design: Controlled laboratory study. Methods: 32 healthy adults were randomized into 2 groups (BFR group, 13 men, 3 women; No-BFR group, 10 men, 6 women) who performed 8 weeks of shoulder LIX (2 times per week; 4 sets [30/15/15/fatigue]; 20% maximum) using common rotator cuff exercises (cable external rotation [ER], cable internal rotation [IR], dumbbell scaption, and side-lying dumbbell ER). The BFR group also trained with an automated tourniquet placed at the proximal arm (50% occlusion). Regional lean mass (dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry), isometric strength, and muscular endurance (repetitions to fatigue [RTF]; 20% maximum; with and without 50% occlusion) were measured before and after training. Electromyographic amplitude (EMGa) was recorded from target shoulder muscles during endurance testing. A mixed-model analysis of covariance (covaried on baseline measures) was used to detect within-group and between-group differences in primary outcome measures (α =.05). Results: The BFR group had greater increases in lean mass in the arm (mean ± 95% CI: BFR, 175 ± 54 g; No BFR, –17 ± 77 g; P <.01) and shoulder (mean ± 95% CI: BFR, 278 ± 90 g; No BFR, 96 ± 61 g; P <.01), isometric IR strength (mean ± 95% CI: BFR, 2.9 ± 1.3 kg; No BFR, 0.1 ± 1.3 kg; P <.01), single-set RTF volume (repetitions × resistance) for IR (~1.7- to 2.1-fold higher; P <.01), and weekly training volume (weeks 4, 6-8, ~5%-22%; P <.05). Acute occlusion (independent of group or timepoint) yielded increases in EMGa during RTF (~10%-20%; P <.05). Conclusion: Combined BFR-LIX may yield greater increases in shoulder and arm lean mass, strength, and muscular endurance compared with fatiguing LIX alone during rotator cuff exercises. These findings may be due, in part, to a greater activation of shoulder muscles while using BFR. Background: Stroke is the fourth leading cause of death in Europe, represents one of the most common causes of disability in adult patients, and involves considerable short- and long-term social and healthcare costs. The effectiveness of deep dry needling (DDN) on affected arm functionality was assessed throughout 8 weeks of treatment in patients with stroke in the subacute phase. Methods: Eighty patients were included in this two-group non-randomised study after a propensity score analysis was carried out. Both groups received standard physiotherapy treatment on the affected arm. The needling group also received six sessions of DDN during the 8-week period. Patients were evaluated before and after each session using the Fugl-Meyer upper extremity (FM UE) scale, the modified modified Ashworth scale (MMAS), the resistance to passive movement scale (REPAS) and a 10-point numeric pain rating scale (NPRS 10). The Brunnstrom recovery stage was recorded at the beginning and at the end of the study, and the EuroQoL quality of life survey was completed at the beginning of the study, after the first month of treatment and at the end of the study. Results: Patients treated with DDN showed a reduction in spasticity measured using the REPAS (p < 0.001) and the MMAS (p < 0.05). There was also an improvement in the Brunnstrom recovery stages (p < 0.05). Conclusion: The addition of a specific DDN treatment to a standard physiotherapy treatment appeared to lead to a higher reduction in spasticity in the affected arm; however, it did not provide additional changes in functionality, pain and quality of life. Background: Plantar heel pain syndrome (PHPS), also known as plantar fasciitis, affects millions of people worldwide. Electroacupuncture (EA) and manual acupuncture (MA) are the two acupuncture modalities frequently used for PHPS in the clinical setting. However, which modality is more effective has yet to be determined. Objective: To examine whether EA is more effective than MA with regards to pain relief for patients with PHPS. Methods: Participants were randomly assigned (1:1) to receive 12 treatment sessions of EA or MA over 4 weeks with 24 weeks of follow-up. The primary outcome was the proportion of treatment responders, defined as patients with at least a 50% reduction from baseline in the worst pain intensity experienced during the first steps in the morning after a 4-week treatment, measured using a visual analogue scale (VAS, 0–100; higher scores signify worse pain). Analysis was by intention-to-treat. Results: Ninety-two patients with a clinical diagnosis of PHPS were enrolled from 29 July 2018 through 28 June 2019. Of the patients, 78 (85%) completed the treatment and follow-up. The primary outcome occurred in 54.8% (23/42) of the EA group compared to 50.0% (21/42) of the MA group after the 4-week treatment (difference –4.76, 95% confidence interval, –26.10 to 16.57, P = 0.662). There were no significant between-group differences for any secondary outcomes after 4 weeks of treatment and at 16 weeks and 28 weeks of follow-up. There were no serious treatment-related adverse events in either group. Conclusion: Among patients with PHPS, EA did not have a better effect with respect to relieving pain intensity than MA at week 4, although both EA and MA appeared to have positive temporal effects, with decreased heel pain and improved plantar function. Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an effective tool for objective evaluation after meniscal allograft transplant (MAT). Little is known about the association between MRI features of allograft and clinical outcomes. Purpose/Hypothesis: To assess the degree and location of signal intensity (SI) as well as the morphology of allografts on MRI after MAT and evaluate the association between clinical outcomes and MRI features in the midterm period. It was hypothesized that a high SI accompanied by a deformed allograft in specific locations on MRI would be associated with inferior clinical outcomes. Study Design: Cohort study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: Included were patients who underwent MAT with fresh-frozen allografts and had >3 years of follow-up with 3.0-T MRI scans. Allograft status was assessed by SI on MRI as grade 0 (normal), grade 1 (globular increased SI not adjacent to the articular surface), grade 2 (linear SI within the meniscus), or grade 3 (increased SI extended to the articular surface). Allograft morphology was assessed by the presence of distorted contours. Clinical outcomes were evaluated using the Lysholm score. The association between clinical outcomes and MRI findings was assessed by multiple linear regression analysis. Results: A total of 138 patients (156 MAT procedures: 132 lateral, 24 medial) with a mean follow-up period of 55.4 ± 19.9 months (range, 36-110 months) were enrolled in this study. Grade 3 SI was observed in the posterior meniscus root and posterior third of the allograft in 39 (25%) and 62 (39.7%) MATs, respectively. Among the 62 MATs with grade 3 SI in the posterior third of the allograft, 34 (54.8%) were accompanied by distorted allograft contour. The presence of grade 3 SI with distorted contour in the posterior third of the allograft was significantly associated with inferior outcomes (β = –6.5 [95% CI, –12.5 to –0.5]; P <.035), as was the presence of grade 3 SI in the posterior meniscus root (β = –5.5 [95% CI, –10.5 to –0.4]; P <.034). Conclusion: On MRI evaluation in the midterm period after MAT, grade 3 SIs of the meniscal allograft were observed in about a third of the cases, and the association with clinical outcomes was dependent on the specific location and morphology of the allograft on MRI. Background: Previous surveys of youth sport parents have revealed that while parents believe early sport specialization is beneficial for improving sport ability, they also overestimate their child's chances of receiving a college scholarship. Purpose: To (1) describe knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs of parents of youth basketball players regarding sport specialization and college scholarships and (2) examine potential differences in child basketball participation characteristics based on parent income. Study Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: A total of 805 parents (mean age, 39.9 ± 7.1 years; 353 female [43.9%]) of youth basketball players (mean age, 12.9 ± 2.5 years; 241 female [29.9%]) were recruited via Qualtrics Online Panels to complete an anonymous online questionnaire. Participants were required to be a parent of a child between 8 and 18 years of age who participated in organized youth basketball (ie, school, club, or recreational/local league). Participants were recruited to be nationally representative with regard to race/ethnicity (White, 62.7%; Hispanic/Latino of any race, 15.3%; African American/Black, 13.3%; Asian, 4.6%; ≥2 races, 2.9%; American Indian/Alaskan Native, 1.1%; Native Hawaiian/other Pacific Islander, 0.1%). The questionnaire was adapted from previous research on parent knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs and consisted of 3 sections: (1) parent and child characteristics; (2) child basketball participation information (months per year of basketball participation, sport specialization status, receiving private coaching, traveling regularly for basketball competitions, participating on multiple teams at the same time); and (3) parent attitudes, beliefs, and knowledge regarding sport specialization and college basketball scholarships. Results: Most parents believed specialization increased their child's chances of making a high school (71.4%) or college team (69.7%). Parents underestimated the availability of college basketball scholarships at the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Division I and II levels (8.9 ± 5.1 vs reality of 13-15 per team) but overestimated availability at the Division III level (8.6 ± 5.7 vs reality of 0 per team). High-income parents spent significantly more money ($4748 USD [$1214-$10,246]) than middle-income ($2250 USD [$727-$5079]; P <.001) and low-income ($1043 USD [$368-$2444]; P <.001) parents. Conclusion: Parents believed specialization was important for sport success, but they underestimated college scholarship availability at the NCAA Division I and II levels while overestimating scholarship availability at the Division III level. Childhood obesity is a major public health concern. We wanted to evaluate the effectiveness of a multidisciplinary program based on healthy eating, exercise, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and health education to achieve weight loss and improve metabolic parameters in overweight and obese children. A randomized, controlled clinical trial with long-term follow-up (24 months) was conducted at a community care center in overweight and obese individuals aged 6–12 years. A sample of 108 children was divided into an experimental and a control group receiving a standard care program. The experimental groups received a 12-month interdisciplinary program; the results were evaluated at 4 months, the end of the intervention, and at follow-up 12 months later. Anthropometric and biological marker measurements related to metabolic alterations, dyslipidemia (based on total cholesterol), hyperglycemia, fasting glycaemia, triglycerides, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol in blood were recorded. The intervention had a significant effect (p < 0.001) in terms of decreased body mass index, skinfolds, and waist and arm circumferences. These changes were accompanied by biochemical changes underlying an improvement in metabolic parameters, such as a significant reduction in total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol, triglycerides, and hyperglycemia and a significant increase in high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol. These effects were still significant for markers of excess weight or obesity in the experimental group 12 months after the end of the intervention, suggesting that an enduring change in healthy lifestyles had been maintained period. Background: Leptin and adiponectin, two adipokines involved in glucose and lipid metabolism, have been linked to regulation of growth in early infancy, energy balance, and metabolic disorders in childhood. The aim of this study was to determine if concentrations of leptin and adiponectin could be measured reliably in infants' saliva, to evaluate the degree of agreement with infant serum levels, and to explore their association with infant feeding status. Methods: A total of 34 infants were recruited after birth and followed for 20 weeks. After log-transformation of the values, a Bland-Altman graphical approach was used to summarize the direction of the difference between the serum and saliva values. Repeated measures mixed modeling was used to evaluate differences over time in these outcomes by feeding status. Results: Mean concentration of salivary leptin and adiponectin in infants was 3.7 (SD =.8) ng/mL and 2.9 (SD = 0.7) ng/mL, respectively. The degree of agreement between serum and saliva for log-transformed leptin and adiponectin values were relatively robust, albeit with a non-zero bias between the two methods, given that serum values were greater than corresponding saliva values for both adipokines in all infants. Each of the four repeated measures mixed models (one for each adipokine measure) had a significant main effect; however, the interaction between time and feeding status was not significant in any of the models. This study used Hypnofertility-based interventions to determine whether these interventions would lead to increased fertility preparedness and pregnancy outcomes and decreased cortisol levels in women undergoing In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatment. This randomized, controlled, prospective study was conducted from November 2017 through March 2019 in 61 Turkish women with unexplained infertility (intervention group: 30, control group: 31). Hypnofertility-based nursing care included affirmations, visualization, imagination, and relaxation from the first day of treatment until the day of the pregnancy test. The Fertility Preparedness Scale, a saliva sample for cortisol level, and the pregnancy test results were used for data collection. Hypnofertility-based nursing care decreased the cortisol levels of women in the intervention group compared to that in the control group (p = 0.00). Though fertility preparedness was higher in the intervention group, the difference was not statistically significant (p = 0.13). Although interventions relieved the women during the treatment process, there was no anticipated effect on pregnancy outcomes (p = 0.75). This study aimed to verify the feasibility of a video-based preoperative educational intervention plus one-to-one, nurse-led reinforcement discussion in patients undergoing elective major surgery and to assess the impact of this combined intervention on patient- and nurse-perceived patient knowledge, self-efficacy, and resilience. Patients received written material at pre-admission and were offered the intervention at admission. Patients reported their knowledge and self-efficacy at pre-admission and after the intervention, and resilience at pre-admission and discharge. Nurses assessed patients' knowledge and self-efficacy after the intervention. In all, 88/97 (90.7%) patients completed the intervention. The 80 patients with complete data reported a significant increase in their knowledge (p <.001) and self-efficacy (p <.001), but no difference in resilience (p =.72). Nurse-perceived patient knowledge agreed with patients' perceptions (p =.57) but nurses scored patients' self-efficacy lower (p <.001). The combined intervention was feasible, and patients perceived an improvement in their knowledge and self-efficacy. Nurses' assessment partially agreed with patients' perceptions. Background: Bipolar or "kissing" cartilage lesions formed on 2 opposite articular surfaces of the knee joint are commonly listed as exclusion criteria for advanced cartilage therapies. Purpose: To test, in a pilot large-animal study, whether autologous nasal chondrocyte (NC)–based tissue engineering, recently introduced for the treatment of focal cartilage injuries, could provide a solution for challenging kissing lesions. Study Design: Controlled laboratory study. Methods: Osteochondral kissing lesions were freshly introduced into the knee joints of 26 sheep and covered with NC-based grafts with a low or high hyaline-like extracellular matrix; a control group was treated with a cell-free scaffold collagen membrane (SCA). The cartilage repair site was assessed at 6 weeks and 6 months after implantation by histology, immunohistochemistry, and magnetic resonance imaging evaluation. Results: NC-based grafts, independently of their composition, induced partial hyaline cartilage repair with stable integrity in surrounding healthy tissue at 6 months after treatment. The SCA repaired cartilage to a similar degree to that of NC-based grafts. Conclusion: Kissing lesion repair, as evidenced in this sheep study, demonstrated the feasibility of the treatment of complex cartilage injuries with advanced biological methods. However, the potential advantages of an NC-based approach over a cell-free approach warrant further investigations in a more relevant preclinical model. Clinical Relevance: NC-based grafts currently undergoing phase II clinical trials have a high potential to replace existing cartilage therapies that show significant limitations in the quality and reproducibility of the repair method. Background: Moral courage is defined as courage to act according to one's own ethical values and principles even at the risk of negative consequences for the individual. In a complex nursing practice, ethical considerations are integral. Moral courage is needed throughout nurses' career. Aim: To analyse graduating nursing students' moral courage and the factors associated with it in six European countries. Research design: A cross-sectional design, using a structured questionnaire, as part of a larger international ProCompNurse study. In the questionnaire, moral courage was assessed with a single question (visual analogue scale 0–100), the questionnaire also covered several background variables. Participants and research context: The sample comprised graduating nursing students (n = 1796) from all participating countries. To get a comprehensive view about graduating nursing students' moral courage, the views of nurse managers (n = 538) and patients (n = 1327) from the same units in which the graduating nursing students practised were also explored, with parallel questionnaires. Ethical considerations: Ethical approvals and research permissions were obtained according to national standards in every country and all participants gave their informed consent. Results: The mean of graduating nursing students' self-assessed moral courage was 77.8 (standard deviation 17.0; on a 0–100 scale), with statistically significant differences between countries. Higher moral courage was associated with many factors, especially the level of professional competence. The managers assessed the graduating nursing students' moral courage lower (66.5; standard deviation 18.4) and the patients slightly higher (80.6; standard deviation 19.4) than the graduating nursing students themselves. Discussion and conclusions: In all countries, the graduating nursing students' moral courage was assessed as rather high, with differences between countries and populations. Life satisfaction in adolescence has been shown to protect against numerous negative outcomes (e.g., substance use, sexual risk-taking), but limited work has directly explored the relationship between life satisfaction and youth violence and offending. As such, we conducted a prospective assessment to explore this relationship among community (n = 334) and at-risk youth (n = 99). Findings suggest life satisfaction is significantly associated with decreased offending and violence within both samples and adds incremental value above established risk factors in predicting violent and total offending among community youth. Furthermore, moderation analyses indicate that the protective value of life satisfaction is greater for youth with high callous–unemotional traits. Mediation analyses suggest that youth who are unsatisfied with their lives may seek out substance use, in turn elevating risk of offending. Together, these findings indicate that efforts to improve overall life satisfaction may help prevent adolescent offending. However, future research is needed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The intrinsically adaptive or maladaptive nature of certain activity patterns in fibromyalgia (FM) has been put into question. The role of contextual factors related to their influence on functional limitation is required. Perfectionism complicates the ability to cope of these patients. The aim of the study has been to analyze the moderating role of perfectionism between activity patterns and functional limitation. The sample were 228 women with FM. Moderation analyses were conducted with the PROCESS Macro. Activity avoidance and excessive persistence were associated with poorer functionality, regardless of perfectionism. Pain avoidance and task persistence were more strongly associated with FM impact in women with high or moderate levels of perfectionism. In a clinical setting adapting the recommendations given to patients according to their level of perfectionism would be justified. Pain avoidance might be inadvisable at high levels of perfectionism, and task persistence is recommendable especially when perfectionism is high. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To examine measurement properties (inter-rater reliability, agreement, validity, and responsiveness) of the Cumulated Ambulation Score French translation in patients with hip fracture. Design: Methodological study. Setting: A 20-bed orthopedic unit and 20-bed geriatric unit. Subjects: About 140 consecutive patients with a mean (SD) age of 83 (12) years. Interventions: The English version of the Cumulated Ambulation Score used to evaluate basic mobility was translated into French following international guidelines. Two raters independently assessed all patients on postoperative days one, two, three, and 30 after a hip fracture surgery. Relative and absolute inter-rater reliability and responsiveness (effect size for improvement from postoperative day two to 30) were evaluated. Convergent validity was analyzed by Spearman's correlation coefficient comparing the Cumulated Ambulation Score with two other measures on postoperative day two and 30. Main measure: Cumulated Ambulation Score. Results: The weighted Kappa value ranged from 0.89 to 1.0. The standard error of measurement and the smallest real difference of the Cumulated Ambulation Score ranged, respectively, from 0.12 to 0.23 and from 0.32 to 0.6 points, while the effect size reached 1.03 (95% CI 0.87–1.26). There was a strong positive correlation comparing the Cumulated Ambulation Score with the French Tinetti Assessment Tool (r ⩾ 0.83) and the French Mini Motor Test (r ⩾ 0.79). Background: Abnormal patellofemoral joint stress appears to have major relevance in a subgroup of patients with patellofemoral pain (PFP). Purpose: To evaluate whether patients with chronic PFP and trochlear dysplasia–induced patellofemoral joint malalignment benefit from a deepening trochleoplasty procedure with the aim of improving patellotrochlear congruence. Study Design: Case series; Level of evidence, 4. Methods: Included were 15 patients (male/female, 1/14; mean age, 30.3 years [range, 19-51 years]) with 8.8 years (range, 1-20 years) of chronic PFP and severe trochlear dysplasia. All patients underwent correction of patellotrochlear malalignment with deepening trochleoplasty and concomitant realignment procedures. The Kujala score and a numerical analog scale (0-10) for intensity of pain were used to assess symptoms preoperatively and at 12 and 24 months postoperatively. Pre- and postoperative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans from the patients were compared with the MRI scans of age- and sex-matched controls regarding the patellotrochlear contact area and contact ratio, patellar tilt, patellotrochlear index, and lateral trochlear inclination (LTI) angle. Results: The Kujala score increased from a mean of 55 (range, 15-81) preoperatively to 82.5 (range, 53-98) after 12 months (95% CI, –42.56 to –12.37; P <.001) and to 84.2 (range, 59-99) after 24 months (95% CI, –44.29 to –14.11; P <.001). The intensity of PFP decreased from 5.7 (range, 3-10) preoperatively to 1.4 (range, 0-4) after 12 months (95% CI, 2.57 to 5.96; P <.001) and had a mean of 1.6 (range, 0-6) after 24 months (95% CI, 2.44 to 5.75; P <.001). Preoperatively, parameters in the study group indicated significant patellotrochlear malalignment, which improved and normalized (except for the LTI angle) postoperatively compared with the values of the control group (P >.05). Conclusion: In a subgroup of patients with chronic PFP due to severe trochlear dysplasia, deepening trochleoplasty and concomitant realignment procedures significantly reduced pain and improved knee joint function while normalizing patellotrochlear congruence. Background: Graft-tunnel mismatch is an avoidable complication in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Patient height and sex may be predictors of patellar tendon length (PTL) and intra-articular ACL length (IAL). Understanding these relationships may assist in reducing graft-tunnel mismatch during ACL reconstruction with bone–patellar tendon–bone (BTB) autograft. Purpose: To determine the association of patient height and sex with PTL and IAL. Study Design: Cross-sectional study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies were obtained on the healthy knees of 100 male and 100 female patients. Patients with prior surgery, open physes, significant degenerative changes, ACL rupture, or extensor mechanism injury were excluded. Three independent readers measured PTL, IAL, and Caton-Deschamps Index (CDI) on MRI. Bivariate and linear regression analysis was performed to detect the association of anthropometric data with anatomic parameters measured on MRI studies. Results: The mean age and body mass index were not significantly different between the male and female patients; however, male patients were significantly taller than female patients (1.75 vs 1.72 m, respectively; P <.001). There was a substantial agreement between the 3 readers for all parameters (κ > 0.75). Overall, female patients had significantly longer PTL (47.38 vs 43.92 mm), higher CDI (1.146 vs 1.071), and shorter IAL (33.05 vs 34.39 mm) (P <.001 for all). Results of the linear regression analysis demonstrated that both height and female sex were predictive of longer PTL. Further, height was independently predictive of IAL but sex was not. Conclusion: PTL was correlated more with patient sex than height. IAL was also correlated with patient sex. Longer BTB grafts are expected to be harvested in female patients compared with male patients of the same height despite shorter IAL. Objectives: To determine the feasibility and safety of aerobic training with an arm crank ergometer and its effectiveness in improving functional capacity and gait in patients with recent hip fracture. Design: Randomized, controlled, assessor-blinded pilot study, with intention-to-treat analysis. Setting: Inpatients, rehabilitation department. Subjects: 40 patients with hip fracture surgically treated. Interventions: Training group performed aerobic exercise with an arm crank ergometer (15 sessions, 30 minutes/day) at an intensity of 64% to 76% of maximum heart rate, in addition to conventional inpatient rehabilitation. Main measures: Primary outcome was the feasibility (including eligibility rate, recruitment rate, number of drop-outs and adverse events, adherence). Secondary measures were the Timed Up and Go test, ability to walk independently, muscle torque of knee extensors of fractured and non-fractured leg, Functional Independence Measure. Results: Mostly due to pre-existing disability and fracture type, only 40/301 (13%) patients were eligible (age 84.6 ± 7.6 years, 75% female); all agreed to participate and 90% completed the trial, without adverse events. Adherence to aerobic exercise was good, with high attendance at sessions (93%), a strong compliance to exercise duration (95%) but lower compliance to the prescribed intensity (73%). After the program, more patients were able to walk independently in the training group (n = 18) compared to control (n = 13) (P < 0.05). Also the muscle torque of fractured leg knee extensors was higher in the training group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Aerobic training in addition to conventional rehabilitation after a hip fracture is feasible and safe and it was effective in improving gait performance and strength of fractured leg. Objective: To investigate if adding Kinesio tape to therapeutic exercise is an effective treatment to improve clinical outcomes compared to therapeutic exercise alone and no intervention, in patients with shoulder impingement syndrome. Design: Three-arm randomized controlled trial Setting: Outpatient setting Subjects: One hundred and twenty patients (mean (SD): age 37.8 (5.4)) with shoulder impingement syndrome. Intervention: Patients were randomly assigned to eight-weeks therapeutic exercise alone, therapeutic exercise with Kinesio tape, and control group. Main measures: Pain was measured with a numerical rating scale and disability and scapular kinematics were measured with a relative questionnaire and motion analysis software respectively, at baseline and after eight-weeks intervention. Results: There was significant differences in therapeutic exercise with Kinesio tape group vs. therapeutic exercise alone and control group respectively for pain (d = –0.34, P = 0.042; and d = –1.53, P = 0.001), disability (d = –0.46, P = 0.024; and d = –2.18, P = 0.001), scapular upward rotation at sagittal plane (d = 0.33, P = 0.033; and d = 0.68, P = 0.001), scapular plane (d = 0.18, P = 0.045; and d = 0.43, P = 0.001), scapular tilt at sagittal plane (d = 0.55, P = 0.043; and d = 1.39, P = 0.001), and scapular plane (d = 0.29, P = 0.034; and d = 0.58, P = 0.001). Therapeutic exercise alone was superior over control group in all significant outcomes (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Although therapeutic exercises alone showed positive effect on clinical outcomes, adding Kinesio tape to therapeutic exercises had more significant effects with larger effect sizes. Linguistic, reliable, and valid secondary efficacy measures are important in clinical settings and studies. The aim of the study is to report test–retest reliability and construct validity of Turkish version of Myasthenia Gravis-Activities of Daily Living Scale (MG-ADL-T) in Myasthenia Gravis (MG) patients. Fifty-two ocular and generalized individuals with MG, applying to rehabilitation center, were included in the study. MG-ADL-T, MG quality-of-life questionnaire (MG-QoL), MG composite (MGC), quantitative MG score (QMGS), and pulmonary function test were administered. Reliability was assessed with intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and Cronbach's alpha. Spearman correlation test and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis were performed for construct validity. MG-ADL-T had fair internal consistency (Cronbach's α =.67), excellent test–retest reliability (ICC = 0.96) and moderate construct validity (MG-QoL, r = 0.59; QMGS, r =.58; MGC, r =.68). Background: A spectrum of anterolateral rotatory laxity exists in anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)--injured knees. Understanding of the factors contributing to a high-grade pivot shift continues to be refined. Purpose: To investigate factors associated with a high-grade preoperative pivot shift and to evaluate the relationship between this condition and baseline patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs). Study Design: Cross-sectional study; Level of evidence, 3. Methods: A post hoc analysis was performed of 618 patients with ACL deficiency deemed high risk for reinjury. A binary logistic regression model was developed, with high-grade pivot shift as the dependent variable. Age, sex, Beighton score, chronicity of the ACL injury, posterior third medial or lateral meniscal injury, and tibial slope were selected as independent variables. The importance of knee hyperextension as a component of the Beighton score was assessed using receiver operator characteristic curves. Baseline PROMs were compared between patients with and without a high-grade pivot. Results: Six factors were associated with a high-grade pivot shift: Beighton score (each additional point; odds ratio [OR], 1.17; 95% CI, 1.06-1.30; P ¼ .002),male sex (OR, 2.30; 95% CI, 1.28-4.13; P ¼ .005), presence of a posterior third medial (OR, 2.55; 95% CI, 1.11-5.84; P ¼ .03) or lateral (OR, 1.76; 95% CI, 1.01-3.08; P ¼ .048) meniscal injury, tibial slope >9 (OR, 2.35; 95% CI, 1.09-5.07; P ¼ .03), and chronicity >6 months (OR, 1.70; 95% CI, 1.00-2.88; P ¼ .049). The presence of knee hyperextension improved the diagnostic utility of the Beighton score as a predictor of a high-grade pivot shift. Tibial slope <9 was associated with only a high-grade pivot in the presence of a posterior third medial meniscal injury. Patients with a high-grade pivot shift had higher baseline 4-Item Pain Intensity Measure scores than did those without a high-grade pivot shift (mean ± SD, 11 ± 13 vs 8 ± 14; P ¼ .04); however, there was no difference between groups in baseline International Knee Documentation Committee, ACL Quality of Life, Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score, or Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score subscale scores. Conclusion: Ligamentous laxity, male sex, posterior third medial or lateral meniscal injury, increased posterior tibial slope, and chronicity were associated with a high-grade pivot shift in this population deemed high risk for repeat ACL injury. The effect of tibial slope may be accentuated by the presence of meniscal injury, supporting the need for meniscal preservation.
