Migraine is a common neuro⁃vascular disease with a global prevalence of about 15% and a heavy burden. Patent foramen ovale (PFO) is the most common congenital cardiac abnormality consisting of the main cause of right⁃to⁃left shunt (RLS). There is a correlation between PFO and migraine, especially migraine with aura (MA). The comorbidity rate of PFO and migraine is significantly higher than that of the general population. The exact pathophysiological mechanism of comorbidity between PFO and migraine is unclear. At present, it is considered that paradoxical embolism and vasoactive peptides may underlie this comorbidity. Some studies suggest that percutaneous closure of PFO can reduce the frequency and duration of migraine, but the effectiveness of closure of PFO is still controversial. At present, limited evidence suggests that migraine with aura, antiplatelet drugs, large amount of RLS, and comorbid with ischemic stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA) may benefit more from closure of PFO. In the future, more multicenter, prospective, double⁃blind, randomized controlled large⁃scale clinical studies are needed to clarify the long⁃term efficacy and predictive factors of closure of PFO on migraine prophylactic treatment, so as to provide criteria for screening the eligible patients treated with closure of PFO.

COD is regarded as an important index for representing the degree of organic pollution in water bodies, which has attracted wide attention. The water quality of 10.2% of the 972 state-controlled sections exceeded Ⅴ class among ten water areas such as the Yangtze River and the Yellow River in China in 2012. COD is one of the major pollution indicators in those water bodies. Therefore, it is of great importance to accurately monitor COD in water bodies. However, standard determination methods of COD have some disadvantages including complexity, low efficiency, high cost and severe secondary pollution. Aiming at the difficulties of traditional methods, instruments and equipment (sample digestion and determination), digestion reagents, and determination methods have been optimized and improved. In addition, certain environmentally friendly detection techniques with higher detection efficiency and accuracy have also been developed and applied. The most recent research progress of the determination methods of COD, including two main parts: the improved and optimized methods according to the standard ones, and new technologies or methods are reviewed in this paper. The traditional detection method is suitable for determining COD with the content range of 30-700 mg/L in light or moderate polluted water bodies. The improved and optimized methods extend the detection limits from 8.6 mg/L to 1600 mg/L, with the detection time shortened and cost of detection decreased significantly. However, the environmental pollution caused by chemical reagents could not be avoided, and oxidation ability to the refractory organics was insufficient. Flow injection, chemiluminescence or a combination of several techniques, which had already been used as the mature detection methods in drugs and immune analysis, mineral and rock analysis, have also been employed for the determination of COD in water bodies. Lower detection limit (0.16 mg/L) and faster detection time could be achieved, and the environmental pollution caused by the reagents was reduced dramatically. With the development of science and technology, some new methods such as ozone oxidation, electrochemical ones, especially as photocatalytic and photoelectrocatalytic determination technologies, based upon the reaction between hydroxyl radicals and organic compounds, have been developed recently. A wider detection range (0-23200 mg/L) was achieved by these new methods, which are capable of determining COD in water bodies with different pollution levels. The new techniques could provide a reference for the accurate, rapid, low-cost and on-line monitoring determination of COD.

Objective To express the protein enconded by the Rv3432c gene of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M.tb) in vitro by prokaryotic expression, to analyze the structure of the Rv3432c protein by using bioinformatics software, and to explore for new drug targets against M.tb. Methods The Rv3432c gene was amplified by PCR using the genomic DNA of the inactivated M.tb strain H37Rv as the template and a recombinant plasmid was constructed with the expression vector pET-28a. The expression products were analyzed by SDS-PAGE and purified using affinity chromatography. The biological properties of Rv3432c were analyzed with Protparam, the Pfam online tool, SOMPA, Protscale, TMHMM Signalp 6.0, NetPhos3.1, SUMOsp 2.0, and SWISS-MODEL. Results pET-28a-Rv3432c recombinant plasmid sequencing results were fully consistent with those of the target gene. SDS-PAGE analysis showed that the fusion protein existed in the form of a soluble protein with a relative molecular mass of about 55×10³, which matched the expected size. ProtParam analysis showed that the Rv3432c protein was hydrophilic (showing a GRAVY value of -0.079). Rv3432c was a protein with no transmembrane structural domains or signal peptide. The secondary structure of Rv3432c mainly consisted of random coils (39.78%) and α-helix (39.57%) and was relatively loosely structured. Conclusion We successfully constructed a prokaryotic expression plasmid of the Rv3432c protein and analyzed its structure using bioinformatics, laying the foundation for further research on the role of Rv3432c in the pathogenesis and progression of tuberculosis as well as the identification of new drug targets against M.tb. To observe the dynamic changes in the silage corn production, the study was based on panel data from 30 provinces in China from 2001 to 2021, and used a center of gravity model to analyze the changes in the silage corn production agglomeration areas. On this basis, the dynamic spatial Durbin model was used to analyze the impact of factor input, socio-economic and policy support on regional changes in Chinese silage corn production. The results showed that there was a spatial clustering phenomenon in Chinese silage corn, which meant that the Moran index of Chinese silage corn production from 2001 to 2021 showed an overall development trend of 'decreasing-increasing-decreasing- increasing'. The evolution trajectory of the production center showed that the center of gravity in the Chinese silage corn production area showed an evolution trend of 'first northeast, then northwest, and southwest'. The results of the mechanism of action indicated that the main driving factors for promoting the production of silage corn were grain advantages, financial support, and increased income from migrant workers. The production infrastructure, fertilizer application, and agricultural benefits had a positive impact on the production of silage corn in this province, but the impact on the production of silage corn in neighboring provinces was not significant. Intestinal stem cells and Paneth cells interact with each other to maintain intestinal homeostasis and function, the interaction between intestinal stem cells and Paneth cells is regulated by mitochondria-related functions and energy conversion. The unique advantages of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the treatment of intestinal diseases are also reflected in its effects on mitochondria and energy metabolism. This paper explores the influence of mitochondrial function and energy metabolism on the interaction between intestinal stem cells and Paneth cells, as well as the possible targets related to mitochondria in the treatment of intestinal diseases by TCM, summarizes the regulatory effects of TCM on mitochondria and energy metabolism, thereby restoring intestinal homeostasis and alleviating disease, with an aim to provide reference and theoretical basis for the research related to the TCM treatment of intestinal stem cells and Paneth cells based on mitochondria.

The experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of different biological starter treatments and fermentation days on the nutritional value of Chinese medicinal residue after fermentation. Six Chinese medicinal residue were selected in the experiment, and a 4 x 4 two-factor experimental design was adopted. Four levels were set for two experimental factors with different biological starter cultures (control group, complex enzyme group, complex bacteria group and complex enzyme + bacteria group) and fermentation days (3, 6, 9, 12 d), and the changes in nutrient content of Chinese medicinal residue after fermentation were carried out with the interaction of different factors and levels. The results showed that there was extreme interaction between different fermentation treatments and different fermentation days on changes of conventional nutrient content of six kinds of Chinese medicinal residues (P<0.01). The fermentation quality was significantly improved, the fiber content was decreased, and the crude protein content was increased when the composite enzyme powder and composite bacterial powder were added. With the extension of fermentation days, the fermentation quality increased at first and then decreased, and the fermentation effect was similar to that of 3 d after fermentation at 12 d. The study indicates that the suitable starter is mixed treatment group of compound enzyme powder and compound bacterial powder, and the suitable fermentation time is 3 d. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

[Purpose/Significance] With the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, the teaching innovation in higher education driven by digital intelligence technology has gradually gained attention. ChatGPT has brought new opportunities and challenges to the development of higher education and the reconstruction of educational ecology. The purpose of this study is to apply ChatGPT tools to the process of information literacy (IL) education in colleges, so as to create a human-machine collaborative teaching paradigm of IL education in colleges based on ChatGPT applications, promote the innovative reform and improve the teaching efficiency of IL education in colleges and provide reference for the application research of AI tools in the field of higher education in the era of digital intelligence and the development of high-quality IL ducation in colleges. [Method/Process] By combing the relevant literature, on the basis of summarizing the global educational application situation of ChatGPT and revealing the educational theory of ChatGPT, combined with the current teaching problems of IL education in colleges, this paper comprehensively analyzes the application scenarios of ChatGPT in the process of IL education in colleges from the perspective of teachers' teaching and students' learning. At the same time, the study carries out practical teaching comparison, and examines the satisfaction of teachers and students by means of "interview + questionnaire", so as to test the application effect of ChatGPT, summarize the problems in teaching and put forward improvement strategies for teaching. [Results/Conclusions] ChatGPT can effectively promote the innovation of IL education in colleges and improve the teaching efficiency of courses. Teachers and students also give good feedback on the educational application of ChatGPT. The application of ChatGPT can effectively improve teaching efficiency, innovate teaching content, optimize teaching process, improve teaching management, and provide students with more learning options, enhance learning initiative, promote higher-order thinking and scientific research innovation. At the same time, the educational use of ChatGPT will also lead to many problems, such as tool abuse, knowledge misleading, information security, and intellectual property rights. Therefore, we should look at the teaching use of ChatGPT dialectically. On the one hand, we should actively promote and apply ChatGPT; on the other hand, we should also pay attention to the different risks that ChatGPT may cause, and formulate forward-looking instructional management policies and guidelines to standardize the use of ChatGPT, so as to give full play to the educational function of ChatGPT and further promote the reform of IL education and teaching in colleges.

Background Cerebral vasospasm (CVS) is one of the common severe complications in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), as well as an independent risk factor for poor prognosis. As previous studies showed, CVS is closely related to the changes in the expression of vasoconstrictors in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). In the present study, we measured the levels of endothelin-1 (ET-1), angiotensin II (Ang II) and thromboxane B2 (TXB2) in SAH patients' CSF to demonstrate the relationship with CVS. Methods A total of 18 patients with SAH were enrolled from September 2018 to January 2019. CSF samples were collected within 3 d, 3-5 d, 5-7 d, 7-10 d and more than 10 d after SAH. The levels of ET-1, Ang II and TXB2 were detected by enzyme-linked immune sorbent assay (ELISA). Results The levels of Ang II (P = 0.041) and TXB2 (P = 0.050) in CSF at different time points were significantly different. The level of Ang II at ≥ 10 d after SAH was significantly lower than that at < 3 d (P = 0.009) and 5-7 d (P = 0.000) after SAH. The level of TXB2 reached the peak at 5-7 d after SAH (P = 0.036, 0.008), and then gradually decreased without significance. The level of ET - 1 in CSF at different time points were not different (P > 0.05). Conclusions The levels of Ang II and TXB2 in SAH patients' CSF present dynamic variation with the progression of the disease. This may be involved in the occurrence of CVS. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Pancreatic cancer is a highly dismal malignancy and has a poor response to major treatments. Patients with pancreatic cancer usually have poor prognosis. Precision therapy has a great potential to improve the outcome of pancreatic cancer. Over 25% of patients have druggable targets, which mainly involve in KRAS mutation status, homologous recombination repair deficiency, gene fusions, and immunotherapy related pathways. Patients with familial or personal history of malignancy, younger patients, or patients with acinar cell carcinoma may benefit from precision therapy. However, only 4% of patients have received precision therapy, and thus precision therapy is still not a major therapeutic method for pancreatic cancer. It is common that genetic/molecular reports are lack of critical information, such as KRAS mutation status, tumor cell content, fusions and germline mutations. It is necessary to promote precision therapy from streamlet towards mainstream by formulating detection technique, establishing expertise team and stressing cooperation to accumulate evidence, thereby providing benefits for the patients. Recent reports have shown that precision treatments could improve the outcome and survival of patients with pancreatic cancer. In 2019, The New England Journal of Medicine published the POLO study which investigated olaparib, an inhibitor of poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP), in patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer and BRCA1 or BRCA2 germline mutation. This is the first clinical trial of precision therapy based on therapeutic targets in pancreatic cancer. In 2020, Pishvaian et al. from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center published the results of “Know Your Tumor (KYT)”. In this study, among 1 856 patients with pancreatic cancer, patients with actionable molecular alterations who received a matched therapy (n = 46, 2.58 years) had longer median overall survival than did those patients who only received unmatched therapies [n = 143; 1.51 years; hazard ratio (HR) was 0.42, P = 0.004]. Aiming at the problem of networked ammunition attack derision-making, an algorithm of networked ammunition attack derision-making based on AHP-TOPSIS was presented. The key attributes affecting the networked ammunition attack derision-making were analyzed. The AHP algorithm was used to construct the hierarchical structure, the judgment matrix was constructed and the weights of the attributes were determined. Then, the improved TOPSIS algorithm was used to get the ranking result of the derision scheme. The simulation results show that the algorithm has the advantages of low computational complexly and high real-time performance. The proposed algorithm can effectively solve the multi-node attack decision-making problem, and effectively restrain the algorithm from reverse order, and has certain robustness and practicality. Migraine is a kind of common primary headache, which seriously damages human health and quality of life. Recent studies show there is a high incidence of white matter lesions (WML) in migraineurs, which is independent of other risk factors for cerebrovascular diseases. The patent foramen ovale (PFO) in migraineurs, especially in migraineurs with aura, is more common than in general population. There is a close relationship between them, but it is controversial whether it is a causal link. Patent foramen ovale can cause paradoxical embolism, but its role in the pathogenesis of migraine is still unknown. Aiming at servo control of high-performance permanent magnet brushless motor, the physical structure, the mathematical model and the principle of permanent magnet brushless motor were researched. After the introductions of the principle of traditional PID controller and the control system of permanent magnet brushless motor, the defects of brushless motor control system based on traditional PID controller were analyzed and summarized, an intelligent control strategy of permanent magnet brushless motor based on Neuron PID was proposed. Firstly, the characteristics of Neuron PID controller were expounded. Then the algorithm of the Neuron PID control system was designed and implemented, the Neuron PID controller was used in control of speed loop of permanent magnet brushless, utilizing the self-learning ability of Neuron PID, control parameters can be trained and adjusted in real time. At last, simulation of permanent magnet brushless motor control system based on traditional PID and Neuron PID were given with Simulink, both the results of simulation were compared. The influential factors were studied on the stability of crane jib for the increase of strength, at the same time stiffness and buckling resistance decrease in view of a large number of adoption of high strength steel in crawler crane. The jib model was established based on the finite element software ANSYS, the static state and the eigenvalue buckling were analyzed and the nonlinear buckling analysis was carried out on the jib on the basis of eigenvalue buckling mode shape as initial defects. It was found that the wind load and horizontal inertial force influence on the stability of the boom was relatively small, while the deflection force was the main factor that causes the unstability of the jib. Objective To investigate the effect against hepatitis B virus (HBV) of total flavone eucommia ulmoides in vitro. Methods The total flavone was extracted from eucommia ulmoides skin by alcoholic fractionation method. It was adopted MTT method to detect the toxicity of the total flavone eucommia ulmoides on HepG2.2.15 cells under the human hepatocellular carcinoma cells HepG2.2.15 cells with HBV transfection as the target cells, the lamivudine(50 μg/mL) as the positive control group,and total flavone eucommia ulmoides concertration (0μg/mL) as the blank control group. The anti-HBV activity in vitro at doses of 25 μg/mL, 50 μg/mL, 100 μg/mL, 200 μg/mL was detected by Real-time PCR and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results The OD value of total flavone eucommia ulmoides at above variuos doses was lower than that of the blank control group, in which, the difference of inhibition rate at the dose of 50 μg/mL, 100 μg/mL, 200 μg/mL had statistcal significance (P<0.05) compared with the blank control group. The total flavone eucommia ulmoided at above variuos doses had a inhibiting effect on duplication of HBV-DNA and secretion of HBeAg and HBsAg,which had statistical significance in diffrence (P<0.05). Due to the lack of connectives,implicit discourse relation recognition models infer the semantic relations (e.g.,causal) between two arguments (clauses or sentences) based on their semantics.The performance of these models is still relatively low.It is also very difficult for corpus annotators to annotate implicit discourse relations.They usually insert an appropriate connective to assist the annotation of an implicit discourse relation instance.Considering the above,a knowledge distillation based method is proposed for implicit discourse relation recognition to take use of the connectives inserted during corpus annotating.Specifically,a connective-enhanced model is constructed to integrate the connective information,and then the integrated connective information is transferred to the implicit discourse relation recognition model via knowledge distillation.Experimental results on the commonly used PDTB dataset show that the proposed method achieves better performance than the baselines.

In order to enhance the performance of turbocharged diesel engine at a high altitude,three different schemes are compared by virtue of simulation. The effectiveness of the method to enhance the power of engine at a high altitude is verified by adjusting the fuel supply parameters without modifying the engine structures or adding any accessories. A model for a V6 turbocharged engine equipped with a new compressor is established for the highland simulation. And then the model is certified by experimental data. The influence of fuel injection advance angle on the power,the turbine intake temperature and the maximum combustion pressure is investigated. Based on the research results,the detailed methods to adjust the fuel supply parameters are put forward. Three different simulating schemes are calculated and compared through simulation. The result shows that the rated power of engine at the altitude of 4 500 m can reach up to 75% of its counterpart by using this method to adjust the injecting timing and fuel injection. Taking a city in Guangdong Province as the research area, the concentration and spatial distribution characteristics of heavy metals in the surface soil were studied to clarify the situation of soil heavy metal pollution and priority control factors, providing basic data for the prevention and control of soil heavy metal pollution in the city. The content characteristics of heavy metals in 221 soil samples in the city were analyzed, and the potential health risk assessment and source analysis were carried out through the Monte Carlo model, the potential health risk assessment (HRA) model, and the PMF receptor model. It was found that heavy metals ω (As), ω (Hg), ω (Cd), ω (Pb), ω (Cr), ω (Cu), ω (Ni), and ω (Zn) in the soil of the city were 18.16, 0.43, 1.46, 68.57, 98.34, 64.19, 26.53, and 257.32 mg·kg -1 , respectively, with a moderate to high degree of variation. Except for Ni concentration, the soil concentrations of other heavy metal elements exceeded the background values of soil in Guangdong Province to a certain extent, and the concentrations of Cd and Zn exceeded the national secondary standards, resulting in severe heavy metal pollution; the main sources of heavy metals were industrial sources, and natural parent materials, lead battery manufacturing, transportation, artificial cultivation, and pesticide and fertilizer inputs also had an undeniable impact on the accumulation of heavy metals in the soil. Heavy metals in the soil had a certain degree of tolerable carcinogenic health risk for both children and adults, whereas non-carcinogenic risks could be ignored. The potential health risk of children was greater than that of adults, and the main exposure route was through oral intake. The input sources of pesticides and fertilizers and As should be the main controlling factors for the health risks of heavy metals in the city's soil, followed by mixed sources and Cr. There were differences in the spatial distribution characteristics and relative pollution levels of heavy metals, and it is necessary to deepen zoning monitoring and control, strengthen soil pollution prevention and control, and reduce human input of heavy metals in soil.

The alteration of stand age instigates modifications in soil properties and microbial communities. Understanding the impacts of stand age on soil enzyme stoichiometry and microbial nutrient limitations in Camellia oleifera plantation is crucial for nutrient management. Taking C. oleifera plantation across four age groups (<10 a, 15-25 a, 30-50 a, >60 a) in a subtropical red soil region as test objects, we examined the response of soil enzyme stoichiometry and microbial nutrient limitations to change in stand age and analyzed the pathways for such responses. The results showed that, compared to that of stand age <10 a, enzyme C:N in the 15-25 a was increased and enzyme N:P was significantly reduced. Microbial biomass carbon (MBC), microbial biomass nitrogen (MBN), and microbial biomass phosphorus (MBP) exhibited a trend of initially decreasing and then increasing with stand age. MBN and MBN:MBP were significantly higher in the <10 a compared to that in the 30-50 a. MBC:MBN was significantly higher in the 30-50 a and >60 a compared to the <10 a and 15-25 a. Results of redundancy analysis revealed that soil nutrients, microbial biomass and their stoichiometry explained 92.4% of the variations in enzyme stoichiometry. Partial least squares path modeling (PLS-PM) results demonstrated that soil organic carbon (SOC) had a positive effect on microbial C limitation; MBN, MBN:MBP, MBC:MBP, SOC, and total nitrogen had a nega-tive overall effect on microbial P limitation, whereas soil C:N had a positive overall effect on microbial P limitation. There was a significant positive correlation between microbial C and P limitations. With increasing stand age, microbial nutrient limitation shifted from N and P limitation (<10 a) to C and P limitation (15-25 a, 30-50 a, >60 a).

Various separation methods in combination with spectral data analysis, X-ray single crystal diffraction analysis, and litera-ture data comparison were employed to clarify the chemical constituents of Itea yunnanensis. Seven compounds were obtained from I. yunnanensis, which were identified as(S)-3-[1-(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane-2-yl]-4-methoxybenzoate methyl ester(1), iteafuranal B(2), syringaresinol(3), dihydrokaempferol(4), trimethoxybenzene(5), eicosane(6), and nonacosane(7), respectively. Among them, compound 1 was a new nor-neolignan compound named iteanorneoligan A, and the rest of the compounds were identified from I. yunnanensis for the first time. The anti-hepatocellular carcinoma effect of the compound was evaluated based on Sk-hep-1 cells model via MTT assay, and compound 2 showed a significant inhibitory effect on the proliferation of Sk-hep-1 cells with an IC&#95;(50) of 9.4 μmol·L~(-1). The antioxidant capacity was determined via DPPH, ABTS~(·+), and O■ radical scavenging ability, and compound 1 exhibited a significant ABTS~(·+) radical scavenging effect with an IC&#95;(50) of 0.178 mg·mL~(-1).

In order to comprehensively study the pollution characteristics of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons （PAHs） in soils of Guangzhou， 222 topsoil samples were collected and analyzed. The ecological risk of soil PAHs pollution was evaluated using the effect interval low/median method （ERL/ERM） and the （BaP） toxicity equivalent method， and the health risk of soil PAHs pollution was evaluated using the lifelong cancer risk increment model. The source of PAHs was analyzed using the characteristic compound ratio method and PMF model. The results indicated that： the content of surface soil （∑16PAHs） in Guangzhou was 38-11 115 μg·kg -1 ， with an average of 526 μg·kg -1 ， and 16 types of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon monomers showed strong variation. There was a certain degree of ecological risk of PAHs in Guangzhou， and there was already a significant ecological risk of PAHs pollution in individual sampling points， which were generally in a state of mild pollution. Based on the results of the health risk assessment， the contribution rates of total cancer risk in both adults and children were presented as follows： skin contact &gt; ingestion of soil &gt; respiratory intake. The health risk of children was greater than that of adults， and the overall health risk was within an acceptable range. Source analysis showed that the main sources of soil PAHs in Guangzhou were coal （37.1%）； diesel （32%）； coking （17.3%）； and mixed sources of traffic emissions， biomass combustion， and petrochemical product volatilization （13.6%）. The overall source of soil PAHs belonged to mixed sources. The research results have enriched our understanding of the pollution status of PAHs in the surface soil of Guangzhou and are helpful in promoting soil pollution prevention and control actions.

Objective: To explore application value and effectiveness of virtual reality technology combined with isokinetic muscle strength training in the rehabilitation of patients after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction surgery., Methods: Forty patients who underwent ACL reconstruction surgery from December 2021 to January 2023 were selected and divided into control group and observation group according to treatment methods, 20 patients in each group. Control group was received routine rehabilitation training combined with isokinetic muscle strength training, including 15 males and 5 females, aged from 17 to 44 years old, with an average of (29.10±8.60) years old. Observation group was performed virtual reality technology combined with isokinetic muscle strength training, including 16 males and 4 females, aged from 17 to 45 years old with an average of (30.95±9.11) years old. Lysholm knee joint score, knee extension peak torque, and knee flexion peak torque between two groups at 12 (before training) and 16 weeks (after training) after surgery were compared., Results: All patients were followed up for 1 to 6 months with an average of (3.30±1.42) months. There were no statistically significant difference in Lysholm knee joint score, peak knee extension peak torque, and peak knee flexion peak torque between two groups ( P >0.05) before training. After training, Lysholm knee joint score, knee extension peak torque, and knee flexion peak torque of both groups were improved compared to before training ( P <0.05);there were significant difference in Lysholm knee joint score, knee extension peak torque, and knee flexion peak torque between two groups( P <0.05)., Conclusion: The application of virtual reality technology combined with isokinetic muscle strength training could promote recovery of knee joint function and enhance muscle strength in patients after ACL reconstruction surgery in further.

Objective: To investigate the effects of enterovirus 71 (EV71) on mitochondrial dynamics in human Glioma U251 cells., Methods: The EV71 was replicated in Vero cells and the 50% tissue culture infective dose (TCID 50 ) was calculated based on the Reed-Muench formula. After the U251 cells were infected with EV71, the cellular morphology was assessed through the light microscope. The mitochondrial morphology was detected by MitoTracker Deep Red staining under laser confocal microscopy and the mitochondrial ultrastructure was visualized by transmission electron microscopy. The expressions of mitochondrial fission proteins Drp1, p-Drp1 and fusion protein Opa1 were examined by Western blot. The level of ATP was measured by a commercial ATP assay kit. The generation of mitochondrial superoxide was detected by MitoSOX staining., Results: The TCID 50 of EV71 was 10 －5.4 /0.1 mL. Twenty-four or 48 h after EV71 infection, the U251 cells appeared shrunken, round and dead. The laser confocal microscopy and transmission electron microscopy images showed that the EV71 infection induced mitochondrial elongation and cristae damage. Moreover, Western blot analysis demonstrated that the protein expressions of Drp1 and Opa1 were downregulated at both 24 and 48 h after EV71 infection in U251 cells, companied with a significant increase in Drp1 phosphorylation at 48 h after infection ( P <0.05). In addition, a decreased ATP level and elevated mitochondrial superoxide generation were observed in the EV71 infected group, as compared to the control group., Conclusion: Our study demonstrated that infection with EV71 led to changes of mitochondrial morphology and dynamics in U251 cells, which may impair mitochondrial function and contribute to nervous system dysfunction., (Copyright© by Editorial Board of Journal of Sichuan University (Medical Science Edition).)

Objective: To study curative effect of different administration routes of tranexamic acid (TXA) on blood loss of elderly female patients with femoral neck fracture in total hip arthroplasty., Methods: From December 2015 to January 2018, 77 elderly women with femoral neck fractures undergoing total hip replacement were divided into four groups: group A, group B, group C, and group D. The group A (intravenous medication group) included 21 patients with an average age of (77.10±7.02) years old. The patients in group A received 15 mg/kg TXA intravenously 5 minutes before skin incision and intraoperative infusion of saline into the joint cavity. The group B(local medication group) included 18 cases, with an average age of (73.83±6.56) years old. The patients in group B received saline intravenously 5 minutes before skin incision and intraoperative infusion of 3 g TXA into the joint cavity. The group C (combined medication group) included 19 cases, with an average age of (74.26±6.04) year old. The patients in group C received 15 mg/kg TXA intravenously before operation and intraoperative infusion of 1.5 g TXA into the joint cavity. The group D (control group) included 19 cases, with an average age of (76.69±9.27) years old. The patients in group D received saline intravenously 5 minutes before skin incision and intraoperative infusion of saline into the joint cavity. The postoperative wound drainage volume, hemoglobin value, and the total blood loss calculated according to the height and weight and the hematocrit (HCT) before and after operation were observed and compared., Results: In group A, the postoperative drainage was(111.91±35.02)ml; the change of hemoglobin was(26.86±12.99) g/L; and total blood loss was(628.60±306.78) ml. In group B, postoperative drainage was(108.89±36.61) ml; change of hemoglobin was(26.28±8.59) g/L; and the total blood loss was (584.41±250.86) ml. In group C, postoperative drainage was(102.63±47.36) ml; change of hemoglobin was (26.89±12.47) g/L; and total blood loss was(634.78±384.89) ml. In group D, postoperative drainage was(107.37±40.53) ml; change of hemoglobin was(40.95±12.48) g/L; and total blood loss was(1 005.24±483.37) ml. There were no significant differences among 4 groups in postoperative drainage volume ( P >0.05). The hemoglobin and total blood loss in group A, B, and C were less than those in the group D( P <0.05), however, there were no significant differences among three groups( P >0.05)., Conclusions: Application of TXA can effectively reduce blood loss during perioperative period of total hip arthroplasty for elderly women with femoral neck fracture. To observe the effect of processed Polygonum multiflorum on mRNA expression levels of five subtypes of CYP450 enzymes in rat liver. SD rats were randomly divided into the normal control group, processed P. multiflorum high dose and low dose groups (5.40 g•kg⁻¹ and 1.08 g•kg⁻¹). The rats in administration groups were continuously given with processed P. mutiflorum for 7 days by ig administration, and the rats in normal control group were given with the same volume of distilled water. After successive administration of 7 days, the serum biochemical indications were detected, and Real-time quantitative PCR technology was used to detect the mRNA expression levels of five subtypes of CYP450 enzymes in rat liver. Experimental results showed that AST was decreased significantly in both low and high dose groups. ALT was significantly decreased in low dose group and significantly increased in high dose group. The mRNA expression levels of five subtypes of CYP450 enzymes in rat liver were decreased in high dose and low dose groups in a dose-dependent manner. Especially the high dose processed P. multiflorum could significantly inhibit CYP1A2 and CYP2E1 mRNA expression levels in rats. The study showed that high dose P. multiflorum water extract had hepatotoxicity, and the degree of liver damage was increased with the increase of dose. The earthy and musty odor problem in aquaculture systems has been a worldwide problem, especially in freshwater aquaculture systems. Geosmin (GSM) and 2-methylisoborneol (2-MIB), the most common causative agents of the off-flavor in fish, are lipophilic secondary metabolites of cyanobacteria, actinomycetes, and other microorganisms. The odor threshold concentrations for 2-MIB and GSM are approximately 9-42 ng x L(-1) and 4-10 ng x L(-1), and 600 ng x kg(-1) and 900 ng x kg(-1) in the aquaculture water and fish, respectively. With such a low odor threshold concentration, the off-flavor compounds greatly reduce the quality and economic value of aquatic products. This renders the fish, especially some valuable fish produced in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS), unmarketable. The study reported the kinetic characteristics of degradation of GSM and 2-MIB by Bacillus subtilis and discussed the impacts of the initial concentration of GSM and 2-MIB (T1, T2) and inoculation amount (T1, T3 ) on the biodegradation rate. The result demonstrated that these two compounds could be degraded by B. subtilis effectively and the biodegradation rate reached more than 90% in T1, T2 and T3 treatments. The biodegradation of these two compounds behaved as a pseudo-first-order kinetics with rate constants (K) in the range of 0.14-0.41. K values indicated that the degradation rate was dependent on the inoculation amount but the start concentration of GSM and MIB. The degradation kinetics showed the maximum specific rate value (u(max)) and the Monod constant (K(s)) were 0.311 and 1.73, however, 2-MIB degradation process did not meet the Monod microbial growth equation (R2 = 0.781).

Applications of network pharmacology are increasingly widespread and methods abound in the field of drug development and pharmacological research. In this study, we choose rosiglitazone compound as the object to predict the targets and to discuss the mechanism based on three kinds of prediction methods of network pharmacology. Comparison of the prediction result has identified that the three kinds of prediction methods had their own characteristics: targets and pathways predicted were not in accordance with each other. However, the calcium signaling pathway could be predicted in the three kinds of methods, which associated with diabetes and cognitive impairment caused by diabetes by bioinformatics analysis. The above conclusion indicates that the calcium signaling pathway is important in signal pathway regulation of rosiglitazone compound, which provides a clue to further explain the mechanism of the compound and also provides a reference for the selection and application of methods of network pharmacology in the actual research.

Objective: To compare postoperative blood loss under different negative pressures of drainage after total hip arthroplasty for the treatment of femoral neck fractures., Methods: From January 1st to December 30th 2013, 74 patients with femoral neck fractures treated with total hip arthroplasty were randomly divided into two groups: high negative pressure drainage group and low negative pressure drainage group. In high negative pressure drainage group, there were 34 cases including 10 males and 24 females, with a mean age of (75.94 ± 9.02) years old, and the patients were treated with 60 kPa negative pressure of drainage. In the low negative pressure drainage group, there were 40 cases including 13 males and 27 females, with an average age of (74.93 ± 8.90) years old, and the patients were treated with 30 kPa negative pressure of drainage. The amount of total drainage, total blood loss, and hemoglobin change were compared between these two groups., Results: All the patients got primary healing without infections. In high negative pressure drainage group,the change of hemoglobin was (41.74 ± 15.69) g/L, total blood loss was (1,217.73 ± 459.50) ml and the drainage volume was (312.94 ± 103.44) ml; while in low negative pressure drainage group,the results were (34.90 ± 12.90) g/L, (904.01 ± 381.58) ml and (129.25 ± 44.25) ml separately. All the results in high negative pressure drainage group were higher than those in the other group. Three days after operation, the change of hemoglobin was (46.00 ± 13.29) g/L and total blood loss was (1,304.72 ± 421.75) ml; while in low negative pressure drainage group, the changes of hemoglobin was (43.87 ± 11.39) g/L and total blood loss was (1,196.78 ± 344.20) ml; there were no statistically significant differences between two groups., Conclusion: When placing drainage devices after total hip arthroplasty for the treatment of femoral neck fractures, the level of negative pressure should be chosen according to preoperative level of hemoglobin and HCT in patients. For old patients with femoral neck fracture, low negative pressure is more suitable.

Objective: To develop a detection method of the third-stage larvae of Angiostrongylus cantonensis by real-time PCR and high-resolution melt curve analysis., Methods: A pair of specific primers was designed based on the internal transcribed spacer 1 (ITS1) region of the nuclear ribosomal DNA of A. cantonensis. The third-stage larvae of A. cantonensis were detected by real-time PCR and high-resolution melt curve analysis. The specificity of the method was analyzed by testing DNAs of A. cantonensis, Clonorchis sinensis, and Gnathostoma spinigerum. The genomic DNA were extracted from 1 to 10 third-stage larvae of A. cantonensis, respectively, and used to identify the sensitivity of the method., Results: This method could specifically detect A. cantonensis and the detection limit reached to one larva. No amplification curve and melt curve were found in C. sinensis and G. spinigerum., Conclusion: Real-time PCR and high-resolution melt curve analysis show good specificity and sensitivity for detecting the third-stage larvae of A. cantonensis.

Objective: To study the volatile compounds of Salix babylonica, and to provide scientific basis for efficacy of attracting natural enemies and medicinal value of Salix babylonica., Methods: The volatile compounds were collected from Salix babylonica by dy- namic headspace absorption method, and analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrum( GC-MS)., Results: Forty-one volatile com- pounds were identified from Salix babylonica. Intact plant of Salix babylonica had thirty-three kinds of volatile compounds and aphid-in- fested plant of Salix babylonica had thirty-eight kinds of volatile compounds. The volatile components of intact plant and aphid-infested plant had significant differences in the composition and proportion. Among them,the volatile components of aphid-infested plant added six kinds of vinyl materials,one kind of aldehyde and one kind of ketone., Conclusion: Adding volatile components,which included vinyl materials,aldehydes and ketones,might have the efficacy of attracting natural enemies. The volatile components might play an important role in the ecological protection for Salix babylonica. The functional components from the volatile compounds had good medicinal value, which are worthy of further research.

In this study, the human umbilical vein endothelial cell model was used to study the regulating effect of lipophilic components in Salvia miltiorrhiza on angiogenesis, and explore its possible mechanism. The cell model was established to determine the effect of lipophilic components in S. miltiorrhiza on the proliferative activity and migration capacity of endothelial cells. Then the realtime fluorescence quantification PCR technology was applied to detect the changes in the gene expressions of angiogenesis-related cytokines VEGF-A, VEGF-C and MMP-9. The results showed that 5 mg x L(-1) lipophilic components in S. miltiorrhiza could inhibit the proliferation and migration of endothelial cells, and reduce the expression of VEGF-A and MMP-9 genes. It indicated that lipophilic components in S. miltiorrhiza may inhibit the proliferation and migration of endothelial cells by inhibiting the expression of VEGF-A and MMP-9 genes, so as to show the inhibitory effect on angiogenesis.

Objective: To summarize the experience of lymph node dissection patterns in hand-assisted laparoscopic radical gastrectomy., Methods: One hundred and eleven patients with gastric carcinoma between December 2010 and September 2012 were operated by hand-assisted laparoscopic system designed by us. Clinical data were analyzed retrospectively. The lymph nodes were dissected from left to right together with total tumor resection(reverse lymph nodes scavenge pattern), then digestive tract was reconstructed., Results: Total gastrectomy, distal gastrectomy and proximal gastrectomy were performed in 57, 46 and 8 cases respectively. Combined cholecystectomy and lateral segment of left liver lobe were needed in 4 and 2 patients respectively, and 1 case underwent combined splenectomy and pancreatic body and tail resection. TNM staging of patients in I(, II(, III(A, III(B, and IIII( were 16, 8, 35, 14, and 38, respectively. Histological type was poorly differentiated in 78 cases, moderate differentiation in 26 cases and good differentiation in 7 cases. The incision length was(6.8±0.3) cm, blood loss was(238.4±113.6) ml, operative time was (171.9±23.3) min, number of removed lymph node was 17.2±5.7, hospital stay was (10.1±3.7) d, postoperative complication rate was 9.0%. One case died during perioperative time., Conclusions: Hand-assisted laparoscopic D2 radical gastrectomy(reverse lymph nodes scavenge pattern) can avoid the multiple conversion of open-laparoscopic operation model, and is beneficial to the standardization for surgical procedure.

The objective of this study is to fully investigate the therapeutic effect and mechanisms of action of Gegen Qinlian decoction (GD) on type 2 diabetes mellitus (type 2 DM). A rat model of type 2 DM was established with the combination of high-fat diet and multiple low doses of streptozotocin (STZ). Biochemical indicators related to glucose metabolism disorders, insulin resistance, oxidative stress were observed. The type 2 DM rats were administrated with GD for 80 days, the above-mentioned indexes were detected. The results indicated that the hepatic glycogen synthesis level was promoted, fasting blood glucose level and fasting blood insulin level were significantly reduced, insulin sensitivity index was significantly improved; the level of superoxide dismutase (SOD) was increased and the level of malondialdehyde (MDA) was reduced; pathologic morphology of pancreas and kidney was ameliorated in the GD group. It was indicated that the therapeutic mechanisms of action of GD on type 2 DM might be related to its effect of ameliorating glucose metabolism disorders, relieving insulin resistance, increasing the tissues' sensitivity to insulin, improving the antioxidative ability of living system, GD has therapeutic effect on type 2 DM and protective effects against damaged pancreatic function.

Objective: To study the mechanism and clinical effect of using the manipulatin of move, adduction, rotation method for the treatment of shoulder dislocation., Methods: from January 2010 to March 2012,120 patients with shoulder dislocation admitted were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, 60 cases in each group. In the treatment group, there were 31 males and 29 females; In control group, there were 30 males and 30 females. In treatment group, 60 patients create their own "on the move, adduction, rotation manipulative treatment,the other 60 cases in control group used traditional restoration methods in wearing the traction treatment. The efficacy of two methods of treatment of shoulder dislocation were compared on reset process once successfully rate, the patient's level of pain (VAS)., Results: In treatment group, restoration once successfully were in 59 cases, improvement of the pain (VAS) values was 3.76 +/- 1.05, the results were excellent in 57 cases, good in 2, poor in 1,without concurrent fractures and nerve injury, without re-dislocation after 3 months. In control group, restoration once successfully were in 50 cases, improvement of pain (VAS) values was 5.67 +/- 1.15, the results were excellent in 45 cases, good in 7, poor in 8. The reset once successfully rate,improvement of VAS values and clinical effect in treatment group were better than that of control group., Conclusion: On the move, adduction, rotation method has advantages of more wearing traction with uniform force, work together to focus, saving time and effort, easy and convenient to avoid iatrogenic injury.

Partial least squares (PLS) has been widely used in spectral analysis and modeling, and it is computation-intensive and time-demanding when dealing with massive data To solve this problem effectively, a novel parallel PLS using MapReduce is proposed, which consists of two procedures, the parallelization of data standardizing and the parallelization of principal component computing. Using NIR spectral modeling as an example, experiments were conducted on a Hadoop cluster, which is a collection of ordinary computers. The experimental results demonstrate that the parallel PLS algorithm proposed can handle massive spectra, can significantly cut down the modeling time, and gains a basically linear speedup, and can be easily scaled up.

Objective: To evaluate the short-term outcomes after hand-assisted laparoscopic radical gastrectomy., Methods: Between June 2010 and May 2011, a series of 15 patients underwent hand-assisted laparoscopic gastrectomy(HG), 16 patients underwent laparoscopic gastrectomy(LP), and 11 patients underwent open gastrectomy(OP). Short-term outcomes included operative time, blood loss, lymph nodes harvested, and the length of incision were collected after operation., Results: The operative time was 150-200 min in HG, 180-220 min in LP, and 150-200 min in OP respectively. The time of laparoscopic procedure was 18-58 and 70-100 min respectively. The average incision length was 6.8 cm in HG, 5.6 cm in LP, and 13.5 cm in OP. The average number of lymph nodes harvested was 17.6, 15.1 and 16.4 respectively. The average estimated blood loss was 228 ml, 278 ml, and 427 ml respectively. The mean length of hospital stay was 9.9, 10.8, and 12.4 d. No anastomotic leakage, bleeding, or gastric paralysis were found. One wound infection case was found in OP., Conclusions: Hand-assisted laparoscopic gastrectomy is in concordance with the standardized treatment protocol for gastric cancer. Lymph node dissection is easier by HG, therefore HG can be an alternative for the radical resection of gastric cancer.

Near infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) is a process analysis and monitoring tool with many advantages, while it needs to set up quantitative or discriminative calibration models in advance, and needs to adjust these models when the process conditions are varied, which makes it difficult for ordinary user to take its full advantage of it. To tackle this problem, this paper presented a novel, simple and model-free methodology for online process monitoring based on two reciprocal viewpoints of measuring the variability of spectroscopy-both the similarity and dissimilarity of process spectrum, i.e., the adaptive moving window standard deviation function(AMWSW) and similarity function(S). The methodology was validated by a column chromatography process of traditional Chinese medicine using near infrared spectroscopy. The online trend curves of AMWSW and S obtained by proposed method were validated by a comparison with the content variation curves of multiple indicative components analyzed by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and these trend curves demonstrated their potential for real-time process status monitoring, accurately determining the beginning point, the peak point, the end point of the elution, and the phase change from water solution to ethanol solution. The proposed methodology can also be used to other process analysis techniques, such as ultraviolet/visible, infrared, Raman, fluorescence, chromatograph and mass spectrum.

This study was to comprehensively evaluate the chemical quality of main species of epimedium planted in China. The contents of 5 marker compounds, epimedin A, epimedin B, epimedin C, icariin and baohuoside I, as well as total flavonoids of 22 samples of 8 officinal species of Epimedium were determined by HPLC and UV, separately. Some physical and chemical tests (H2O, total ash, acid-insoluble ash and EtOH extract) were also carried out to investigate their chemical qualities. There were significant differences in types and contents of prenyl-flavonoid glycosides such as epimedin A, epimedin B, epimedin C, icariin and baohuoside I in different species, meanwhile, the physical and chemical parameters results also showed that there were obvious differences in chemical quality among different species of epimedium herb. The results provide theoretical and experimental basis for the establishment of comprehensive quality assessment system of epimedium in China.

Chloroplast genome sequences have comprehensive application prospects in DNA barcoding and chloroplast engineering in traditional Chinese medicine. The complete chloroplast genome of Magnolia officinalis sequenced by high-throughput pyrosequencing and a sequencing procedure was established. Fourteen contigs were obtained after de nove assembly. The sequencing percent of coverage was 99.99%. The chloroplast genome is 160 183 bp in size, and has a typical quadripartite structure with the large (LSC, 88 210 bp) and small copy (SSC, 18 843 bp) regions separated by two copies of an inverted repeat (IRs, 26 565 bp each). chloroplast genes were successfully annotated, of which 17 genes located in each IR region. The chloroplast genome features in Magnolia officinalis are nearly identical to those from other Magnoliid chloroplast genomes. Phylogenetic analyses were performed based on 81 shared coding-genes for a total of 9 Magnolia samples of 5 closely related species. Results showed that distinguishing among species was generally straightforward at the species and population level. This study confirmed the effectiveness of our chloroplast genome sequencing procedure. The chloroplast genome can provide distinguishing differences to help identify Magnolia officinalis and its closely related plants.

Objective: To investigate the glycemic control and the related factors of type 1 diabetic patients in Guangdong Province., Methods: Medical records and blood samples of type 1 diabetic patients were collected in 89 tertiary and secondary hospitals from all of the 21 cities in Guangdong Province. The clinical data were analyzed to explore the correlates of glycemic control. HbA1c levels, measured in Guangdong Diabetes Center, were used to assess glycemic control., Results: 851 patients were enrolled from August 6, 2010 to May 25, 2011. There were 408 males and 443 females. The median (interquartile range) age was 29.6 years (20.3 - 41.3 years). The onset age of diabetes was 25.3 years (15.7 - 35.5 years). The disease duration was 3.3 years (1.0 - 7.3 years). The BMI was 19.9 kg/m(2) (17.9 - 21.8 kg/m(2)). HbA1c levels were 8.6% (6.9% - 11.0%) and only 234 (27.50%) patients reached the age-specific target levels. Correlates with poorer glycemic control were 13 - 19 years old (vs 7 - 12 and ≥ 20 years old), lower household income, not on dietary intervention, never accepting diabetic education and shorter diabetic duration., Conclusion: The majority of Guangdong type 1 diabetic patients did not achieve target values for glycemic control, indicating an urgent need for comprehensive management to improve glycemic control.

The Chinese herbal medicine Tianma (Gastrodia elata) has been used for treating and preventing primary headache over thousands of years, but the exact pharmacological mechanism of the main bioactive ingredient gastrodin remains unclear. In present study, the effects of gastrodin on calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) and phosphorylated extracellular signal-regulated kinase1/2 (pERK1/2) expression were observed in rat trigeminal ganglion (TG) after in vitro organ culture to explore the underlying intracellular mechanism of gastrodin on primary vascular-associated headache. CGRP-immunoreactivity (CGRP-ir) positive neurons count, positive area, mean optical density and integrated optical density by means of immunohistochemistry stain were compared at different concentrations of gastrodin, which was separately co-incubated with DMEM in SD rat TG for 24 hours. Only at 5 or 10 mmol L(-1) concentration, gastrodin demonstrated significantly concentration-dependent reduction of CGRP-ir (+) expression and its action closed to 1.2 mmol L(-1) sumatriptan succinate. While at 2.5, 20, and 40 mmol L(-1) concentration, gastrodin did not show remarkable effects on CGRP-ir (+) expression. The optimal concentration of gastrodin (5 and 10 mmol L(-1)) similarly inhibited CGRP-mRNA expression level separately compared with 1.2 mmol L(-1) sumatriptan succinate and 10 micromol L(-1) flunarizine hydrochloride, which was quantitatively analyzed by real-time PCR (RT-PCR). pERK1/2 level was examined by Western blotting after co-cultured with optimal concentration of gastrodin and effective specific ERK1/2 pathway inhibitors PD98059, U0126. The result indicated that gastrodin significantly reduced pERK1/2 protein actions similarly to ERK1/2 pathway specific blockade. It suggests ERK1/2 signaling transduction pathway may be involved in gastrodin intracellular mechanism. This study indicates gastrodin (5 and 10 mmol L(-1)) can remarkably reduce CGRP-ir (+) neuron, CGRP-mRNA and pERK1/2 expression level in cultured rat TG, with its actions similar to the effective concentration of sumatriptan succinate, flunarizine hydrochloride and specific ERK1/2 pathway blocker. The intracellular signaling transduction ERK1/2 pathway may be involved in the gastrodin reducing CGRP up-regulation in rat TG after organ culture.

This study was to report the effect of Tangshen Formula on phospholipids metabolism in diabetic nephropathy patients. A normal phase-HPLC-TOF/MS method was used in this study for the determination of seven species of phospholipids in human plasma. Then, the concentration changes of potential phospholipids biomarkers were discussed in diabetic nephropathy phase III and phase IV patients among different groups, including before and 3, 6 months after administration of Tangshen Formula. Significant increases of PE750, PI885, PC792, PC826, PC830, PC854 and PC802 levels were observed 6 months after administration of Tangshen Formula and conventional western medicine, as well as a decrease of LPC540 level, when compared with those before medication. Concentrations of all the potential phospholipids biomarkers showed a tendency towards normal levels; however, both the improvement degree and onset time of these compounds were not same. Additionally, Tangshen Formula treatment based on conventional western medicine treatment was more efficient in adjusting the levels of these compounds when compared with western medicine treatment alone, especially for the phase IV patients. These results indicated that Tangshen Formula was capable in regulating and improving phospholipids metabolism in diabetic nephropathy patients, which may be related with the direct or indirect inhibition of protein kinase C pathway and the corresponding reduction of phospholipase A2 activity. Therefore, Tangshen Formula may be used as an effective drug for diabetic nephropathy therapy, at least as an adjunctive therapeutic drug.

This study is to report the tissue distribution of arsenic after giving different doses of realgar and Liushen pills to Beagle dogs, in order to provide basis for the safety evaluation of Liushen pills. ICP-MS was used to measure arsenic concentration, and HPLC-ICP-MS was used to analyze arsenic speciation. The concentration of total arsenic and As(III) + DMA (arsenite + dimethylarsenic acid) increased with dosing of realgar. Total arsenic concentration in most tissues and As(III) + DMA concentration in all tissues of Liushen pills group are lower than that of realgar group, but AsB concentration in liver, spleen and kidney of Liushen pills group increased. The concentration of total arsenic showed a dose-dependent manner with dosage administered. It was indicated that components in Liushen pills can reduce solubility of arsenic in realgar, which may decrease toxicity of realgar.

Objective: To evaluate effects of glycemic control on refraction in diabetic patients., Methods: Twenty newly diagnosed diabetic patients were included in this study. The random blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels, fasting C-peptide and postprandial 2 h C-peptide levels were measured before treatment. The patients with random blood glucose ≥ 12.0 mmol/L and HbA1c ≥ 10.0% were selected. Refraction, intraocular pressure, radius of the anterior corneal curvature, depth of the anterior chamber, lens thickness, vitreous length, and axial length were measured on admission and at the end of week 1, 2, 3 and 4 during glycaemic control., Results: A transient hyperopic change occurred in all the patients receiving glycemic control with a mean maximum hyperopic changes of 1.6 D (0.50 D ∼ 3.20 D). There was a positive correlation between the magnitude of the maximum hyperopic changes and the HbA1c levels on admission (r = 0.84, P < 0.05). There was a positive correlation between the magnitude of the maximum hyperopic changes and the daily rate of blood glucose reduction over the first 7 days of the treatment (r = 0.53, P < 0.05). There was no significant correlation between the magnitude of the maximum hyperopic changes and the levels of random blood glucose on admission. No significant correlation was observed between the maximum hyperopic changes and fasting C-peptide or postprandial 2 h C-peptide. There were no significant correlations between the magnitude of the maximum hyperopic changes and age, blood press, body mass index, triglyceride, total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein or high-density lipoprotein. No significant changes were observed in the intraocular pressure, radius of the anterior corneal curvature, depth of the anterior chamber, lens thickness, vitreous length and axial length during glycemic control., Conclusions: Transient hyperopic changes occur after glycemic control in diabetic patients with severe hyperglycaemia. The degrees of transient hyperopia are highly dependent on HbA1c levels before treatment and the rate of reduction of glucose level over the first 7 days of treatment. This is probably due to the decrease of refractive power by lens hydration, not morphological change of lens.
