In order to solve the problem of graphics processing unit (GPU) memory access conflicts possibly caused by the disorder of particles and enhance the computation efficiency, an improved GPU acceleration strategy is proposed by establishing particle reorder technology. The acceleration strategy is applied to the smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) method to simulate the dam breaking with obstacles in three dimensions, and the algorithm is verified by comparing with the experimental results, which obtained a high calculation accuracy. Based on this benchmark example of the SPH, the studies on the effect of particle renumbering and the solution efficiency of the algorithm are conducted by comparing the simulations of different hardware facilities. The results indicate that the particle reorder technology can ensure a stable single-step running time, and can effectively solve the problem of graphic card memory access conflicts that commonly exist in the GPU-SPH algorithm. Furthermore, the GPU parallel algorithm can greatly improve the solution efficiency of the SPH method, and with the increase of particle number, the advantage of drastically reducing the computation time becomes more obvious. The method proposed in this paper provides the possibility to expand the application of the SPH method to solve 3D numerical simulations.

Background and purpose: Glioma is the most common and malignant primary brain tumor in the central nervous system (CNS). Glioblastoma is highly malignant and aggressive, and the prognosis of patients with recurrent glioblastoma is very poor. This study aimed to screen the genes related to the recurrent glioblastoma, and analyze the relationship between their expressions, clinicopathological parameters and prognosis in glioma. Methods: By mining the relevant datasets of the primary and recurrent cases of glioblastoma in the GEO database, the differentially expressed gene (DEG) in the samples of primary and recurrent glioblastomas were screened and analyzed. All DEGs analyses were carried out in ontology function and pathway enrichment. Protein-protein interaction (PPI) network was constructed and used for screening Hub gene. Key genes were intersected by PPI network and Venn diagram, and the Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis (GEPIA) and Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (CGGA) database were analyzed for association of key gene expressions and survival status. Key genes were furtherly analyzed to determine the relationship between their expressions and clinicopathological parameters of glioma. Results: There were 40 DEG screened in the dataset GSE62153, including 34 up-regulated genes and 6 down-regulated genes. There were 19 DEG screened in the dataset GSE58399, including 16 up-regulated genes and 3 down-regulated genes. Go functional analyses showed that the DEG of GSE62153 were mainly involved in 11 physiological processes, such as central nervous system development, myelin sheath, actin binding, central nervous system myelination. The DEG of GSE58399 were mainly enriched in the positive regulation of epithelial cell migration. The Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment showed that the datasets GSE62153 and GSE58399 were both enriched in histidine metabolism. By using the STRING database, the core of PPI network was constructed with 20 protein molecules. A total of 10 hub genes were screened, including MOBP, OPALIN, ERMN, PLP1, MOG, CLDN11, ASPA, TMEM125, KLK6 and NKX6-2 gene. The key genes for recurrent glioblastoma were ERMN, MOG and MOBP gene. Based on analyses using The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and CGGA databases, the prognosis of patients with high expressions of ERMN, MOG and MOBP was favorable compared with the low expression group. Objective To investigate differences in the relationship between degree and type of obesity and serum amino acids in type 2 diabetes (T2DM). Methods This was a cross-sectional study. T2DM patients who visited Endocrinology Department in the First People's Hospital of Yunnan Province from December 2016 to June 2018 were retrospectively enrolled. Waist circumference, height and weight were collected, and body mass index (BMI) was calculated. Serum branched chain amino acids (BCAA) and aromatic amino acids, glycosylated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), uric acid, triglycerides (TG), fasting plasma glucose (FPG), and fasting insulin (FINS) were measured, and homeostasis model homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) was calculated. T2DM patients were divided into normal weight, overweight and obese groups based on BMI; additionally, T2DM patients were divided into non abdominal obesity (NAO) and abdominal obesity (AO) groups based on waist circumference. Using t-test/one-way analysis of variances (ANOVA), non-parametric rank sum test, χ² tests for inter group comparison. Pearson/Spearman correlation analysis was used to analyze serum amino acid levels and metabolic indicators, as well as pancreatic islets β cell function and insulin resistance. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the relevant influencing factors of tryptophan. The predictive effect of serum amino acids on the degree and type of obesity was analyzed by means of the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. Results A total of 97 T2DM patients were included. Among them, there were 33 cases in the normal weight group, 42 cases in the overweight group, and 22 cases in the obese group. There were 41 cases in the NAO group and 56 cases in the AO group. Compared with normal weight group, T2DM patients in obese group had significantly lowered levels of HbA1c and HDL-C; elevated levels of uric acid, TG, HOMA-IR, serum concentrations of BCAA isoleucine, aromatic amino acids tryptophan and tyrosine (P<0.05). T2DM patients in AO group had significantly lower levels of HDL-C and higher levels of TG, serum concentrations of tryptophan than those in NAO group (P<0.05). Serum levels of BCAA leucine, isoleucine, valine and aromatic amino acids tryptophan, tyrosine and phenylalanine were all positively correlated with BMI (P<0.05), whereas serum tryptophan level was also positively correlated with waist circumference (P=0.036) in patients with T2DM. In addition, multiple linear regression analysis showed that waist circumference was the influencing factor of serum tryptophan (P=0.048). ROC analysis showed that serum tryptophan had a certain predictive value for obesity and AO, and the areas under the curve were 0.645 (95%CI 0.533-0.758, P=0.019) and 0.629 (95%CI 0.517-0.742, P=0.029), respectively. Conclusions There is a difference between degree and type of obesity with serum BCAA and aromatic amino acids in T2DM patients. As the COVID-19 pandemic is intensifying globally, more and more people are pinning their hopes on the development of vaccines. At present, there are many research teams who have adopted different vaccine technology routes to develop 2019-nCoV vaccines. This article reviews and analyzes the current development and research status of 2019-nCoV vaccines in different routes, and explores their possible development in the future.

Objective: To validate the proposed endoscopic third ventriculostomy success score (ETVSS) for predicting successful ETV outcomes for pediatric hydrocephalus on the basis of individual characteristics., Methods: For 121 cases at our department from June 2007 to June 2010 at both 6 and 24 months, Actual successful rates were compared with Chi-square test and 95% confidence interval for low, moderate and high chance of success strata based on the ETVSS. Long-term successful probability was calculated with Kaplan-Meier methods., Results: The 6-month ETV successful rate was higher than the mean predicted probabilities of success for both moderate and low success strata, but slightly lower for the high chance of success strata. The ETVSS accurately predicted the outcomes at 24 months; the low, medium and high chance of success strata had actual success rates of 74% (37/50), 62% (28/45) and 41% (11/26) and mean predicted successful probabilities of 81.3%, 61.4% and 34.4% respectively., Conclusion: ETVSS may accurately predict the overall long-term successful rates in high, moderate and low-risk groups. Thus it will aid clinical decision-making through predicting the therapeutic effect of ETV.

Objective: To examine the feasibility and efficacy of using superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles coated with polyethylene glycol-grafted polyethylenimine (PEG-g-PEI-SPION) as a carrier for gene delivery into human adipose derived mesenchymal stem cells (hADMSCs) and in vitro cellular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)., Methods: PEG-g-PEI-SPION was synthesized as previously reported. Gel electrophoresis was performed to assess the pDNA condensation capacity of PEG-g-PEI-SPION. The particle size and zeta potential of PEG-g-PEI-SPION/pDNA complexes were determined by dynamic light scattering. Cytotoxicity of PEG-g-PEI-SPION was evaluated by CCK-8 assay with hADMSCs. Gene transfection efficiency of PEG-g-PEI-SPION in hADMSCs was quantified by flow cytometry. The cellular internalization of PEG-g-PEI-SPION/pDNA nanocomplexes was studied by confocal laser scanning microscopy and Prussian blue staining. MRI function of PEG-g-PEI-SPION was studied by in vitro cellular MRI scanning., Results: PEG-g-PEI-SPION condensed pDNA to form stable complexes of 80-100 nm in diameter and showed low cytotoxicity in hADMSCs. At the optimal N/P ratio of 20, PEG-g-PEI-SPION/pDNA obtained the highest transfection efficiency of 22.8% ± 3.6% in hADMSCs. And it was higher than that obtained with lipofectamine 11.2% ± 2.6% (P < 0.05). Furthermore, hADMSCs labeled with PEG-g-PEI-SPION showed sensitive low signal intensity on MRI T2-weighted images in vitro., Conclusion: PEG-g-PEI-SPION is an efficient and MRI-visible nano-vector for gene delivery into hADMSCs.

Objective: To detect the changes of cortical thickness and cortical surface area in untreated patients of first-episode schizophrenia., Methods: Fifty-seven untreated patients of first-episode schizophrenia (SCZ) hospitalized from September 2009 to March 2012 at Department of Psychiatry, Third Affiliated Hospital, SUN Yat-sen University and 57 healthy controls (HC) recruited by advertising during the same period underwent a high resolution three-dimensional magnetic resonance imaging of brain structures. And cortical-surface based technique was used to analyze the cortical thickness and cortical surface area. The general linear model (GLM) was employed to detect the differences of cortical thickness and cortical surface area between two groups., Results: were corrected for multiple comparisons by the Monte Carlo simulation method., Results: As compared with HC, the cortical thickness of left superior frontal, left caudal middle cingulate, left lateral occipital, right superior frontal, right superior temporal and right fusiform regions in SCZ decreased by 6.0%, 7.2%, 8.2%, 5.2%, 7.1% and 6.0% respectively. And the largest reductions occurred in left lateral occipital regions. Cortical surface area of each brain regions in SCZ had no significant difference with HC., Conclusion: Cortical thickness reductions exist in multiple brain regions in schizophrenia. It may be the neuropathological mechanisms of schizophrenia.

Objective: To explore the operative techniques and efficacy of trans-sylvian-insular approach endoscopic surgery for hypertensive basal ganglia hemorrhage., Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted in 54 patients with hypertensive basal ganglia hemorrhage from December 2009 to December 2011. All of them underwent neuroendoscopic surgery via a trans-sylvian-insular approach. The hematoma volume was 30 - 40 ml (n = 8), 40 - 50 ml (n = 42) and > 50 ml (n = 4). And the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) was 8 - 12 (n = 48) and 13 - 15 (n = 6)., Results: The clearance rate of hematoma was > 90% (n = 44) and 80% - 90% (n = 10). None suffered re-hemorrhage or death., Conclusion: As a mini-invasive and efficacious approach for hypertensive basal ganglia hemorrhage, trans-sylvian-insular approach endoscopic surgery has a high clearance rate of hematoma is high and causes minimal damage to normal brain tissue. It is worth of clinical promotion.

Objective: To explore the diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) features of white matter in healthy siblings of schizophrenics., Methods: Twenty healthy siblings of schizophrenics and 45 healthy controls without a family history of mental disorder. They responded to advertised recruitment during December 2009 and March 2012. All participants underwent diffusion weighted magnetic resonance images with a single-shot echo planar imaging (EPI) sequence aligned to straight axial plane. The fractional anisotropy (FA) images of two groups underwent two-sample t-test with SPM5 software., Results: The healthy siblings of schizophrenics demonstrated a significant decrease of regional white matter FA values in right anterior cingulated (MNI: x = 9, y = 43, z = 4; cluster = 106)., Conclusion: Reduced white matter integrity in right anterior cingulated may be a risk actor of schizophrenia.

Objective: To explore the roles of diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) of white matter at an early stage of schizophrenia., Methods: The participants were 20 first-episode, medication-naïve schizophrenics at an early stage (1 - 6 months) and 20 healthy controls adjusted in gender and age during December 2009 and October 2010. They underwent diffusion weighted magnetic resonance imaging with a single-shot echo planar imaging (EPI) sequence aligned to straight axial plane. The fractional anisotropy (FA) images of two groups underwent two-sample paired t-test with SPM5 software., Results: The schizophrenics at an early stage demonstrated a significant decrease of regional white matter FA values in right anterior cingulated (MNI: x = 12, y = 24, z = -10; cluster = 145) and right middle occipital lobe (MNI: x = 36, y = -76, z = -2; cluster = 135)., Conclusion: The altered white matter DTI in right anterior cingulated and middle occipital lobe may contribute to an early detection of schizophrenia.

Objective: To explore the therapeutic efficacies of endoscope for fourth ventricular outlet obstruction (FVOO)., Methods: Endoscopic third ventriculostomy (ETV) was performed for 30 cases. The circumstances of third ventricular floor and basal cistern were observed and recorded intra-operatively. Meanwhile the fourth ventricular exploration and fistulation were performed across enlarged aqueduct. And the velocity and flow rate of aqueduct, fourth ventricular outlet and stoma were evaluated post-operatively with Cine-MR (magnetic resonance)., Results: Standard ETV was performed successfully in 28 patients. Fourth ventricular exploration (n = 6) and outlet membrane fistulation (n = 2) were carried out. The mean follow-up period was 2.3 years (range: 0.5 - 4.0). The overall success rate was 78.6%., Conclusion: ETV is a viable therapeutic option for FVOO patients. The therapeutic effects of outlet membrane fistulation require further observations.

Objective: To compare the regional white matter integrity of schizophrenics with impulsive behaviors versus those without., Methods: Seventeen patients with first-episode-schizophrenia impulsive behaviors and 24 patients with first-episode-schizophrenia non-impulsive behaviors underwent diffusion weighted magnetic resonance imaging with a single-shot echo planar imaging (EPI) sequence aligned to straight axial plane. The fractional anisotropy (FA) images of two groups received two-sample t-test with SPM5 software., Results: The patients with impulsive behaviors demonstrated a significant decrement of white matter FA values in left precentral gyrus (MNI: x = -28.00, y = -28.72, z = -54.71; cluster = 79 voxels), left cerebellum anterior lobe (MNI: x = -22, y = -56, z = -28; cluster = 130 voxels) and left occipital lobe (MNI: x = -6, y = -72, z = 6; cluster = 54 voxels)., Conclusion: The altered white matter integrity of left precentral gyrus, cerebellum anterior lobe and occipital lobe may be involved in the neural mechanism of impulsive behaviors in schizophrenia.

Objective: To explore the feasibility, operating technique and precautions of endoscopic microvascular decompression for trigeminal neuralgia., Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted for 21 patients with primary trigeminal neuralgia. All underwent neuroendoscopic microvascular decompression for trigeminal nerves., Results: The pains disappeared upon awaking post-anesthesia in 19 patients. In 2 patients, pains became significantly alleviated and disappeared after taking carbamazepine for 1 - 3 months. No patient suffered the injuries of trigeminal nerve and other cranial nerves. None had cerebellum edema or death. During the follow-up period, there was no recurrence of pains., Conclusion: Neuroendoscopic surgery may accomplish microvascular decompression for trigeminal nerve independently. As a minimally invasive and effective technique, it offers a clearer vision of local anatomy and decreases the probability of damaging nerves and vessels. There is no need for pulling cerebellum. It brings minimal damage to normal brain tissue compared with microsurgery. Further popularization is warranted.

Objective: To investigate the integrity of white matters in first-episode and chronic schizophrenics., Methods: For this study, 39 first-episode and 38 chronic schizophrenics, 69 healthy controls (age, gender and years of received education no significantly different from those of the patients) underwent diffusion weighted images with a single-shot echo planar imaging (EPI) sequence aligned to the straight axial plane. The fractional anisotropy (FA) images of three groups underwent one-way ANOVA with the methods of voxel-based morphometric (VBM) analysis., Results: (1) There were three brain regions where the FA values of white matter were different among three groups: right caudate nucleus (MNI: 20, 12, 14; cluster = 432 voxels; FA value: 0.36 ± 0.18 vs 0.35 ± 0.24 vs 0.38 ± 0.17), left insula (MNI: -32, 18, 2; cluster = 204 voxels; FA value: 0.35 ± 0.31 vs 0.33 ± 0.24 vs 0.36 ± 0.21) and right anterior cingulate (MNI: 16, 36, 12; cluster = 132 voxels; FA value: 0.35 ± 0.29 vs 0.34 ± 0.31 vs 0.37 ± 0.25). (2) The mean FA values of the three brain regions of two patients groups decreased versus those of healthy controls (P < 0.05). (3) The mean FA values of left insular region in chronic patients decreased versus those of the first-episode patients (P < 0.05)., Conclusion: The reduced integrity of white matter may play an etiological role in schizophrenia and the changes are probably progressive.

Objective: To evaluate the method, strategy and efficacy of treating different types of quadrigeminal cistern arachnoid cysts (QCAC) with neuroendoscope., Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted for 12 QCAC patients with obstructive hydrocephalus. They were classified into 3 types and underwent neuroendoscopic operation at our hospital between November 2005 and November 2009. Their surgical approaches, complications and efficacy were analyzed. The mean age of first diagnosis was 3.7 years old. There were 7 type II cases and 5 type III cases with a varying level of symptoms. The follow-up period was 6 - 24 months. Cine-MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) examination was performed both preoperatively and post-operatively., Results: Among them, 12 patients recovered well without any occurrence of hemorrhage, paralysis, lower cranial nerve injury, cerebrospinal fluid leakage, infection or death. Subdural effusion occurred in 3 cases, but disappeared within 6 months. Seven feverish cases recovered after a symptomatic treatment. The shapes of cysts and ventricles almost returned to a normal level in 8 cases. Three cases of arachnoid cyst had a slight change., Conclusion: In accordance with the QCAC patient types, different neuroendoscopic approaches can fully reconstruct the cerebrospinal fluid circulation. And the use of frameless navigation makes it more precise and safe.

Objective: To investigate the value of 3D FIESTA sequence in magnetic resonance sialography (MRS) in the diagnosis of obstructive salivary diseases., Methods: Eleven patients with obstructive salivary diseases underwent MRS, and three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction and virtual endoscopic images of the salivary gland ducts were obtained after MRS data post-processing for comparison with those of sialoendoscopy., Results: The diagnostic accuracy of MRS was 72.7% for obstructive salivary diseases. The virtual endoscopy provided a visual field highly consistent with that by sialoendoscopy., Conclusion: MRS is capable of visualizing the tracts of salivary glands. MR virtual endoscopy can provide sufficient morphological and pathological data for preoperative assessment of salivary operations with sialoendoscopy.

Objective: To investigate the value of diffusion tenser image (DTI) in identifying subtle abnormalities in the corpus callosum and bilateral middle cerebellar peduncles in patients with the initial onset of schizophrenia., Methods: Twenty patients with the first episode of schizophrenia and 18 healthy subjects were examined by DTI. Fractional anisotropy (FA) and averaged diffusion coefficient (ADC) were measured in the bilateral middle cerebellar peduncles, genu and splenium of the corpus callosum. Independent-sample t test was used to compare the value of FA and ADC between the two groups., Result: The FA of the bilateral middle cerebellar peduncles was significantly lower in the schizophrenic patients than in the healthy subjects (P<0.05), but that in the genu and splenium of the corpus callosum were comparable between the two groups (P>0.05). The ADC values showed no significant difference in all the above regions between the two groups (P>0.05)., Conclusion: Subtle abnormal changes occur in the cerebrum-cerebellumto circuit in schizophrenic patients, and may trigger the onset of the symptoms in the early stages of schizophrenia.

Objective: To evaluate the targeted distribution of cis-platin magnetic nanoparticles (CDDP-MNP) in normal mice., Methods: Thirty-two normal mice were randomly assigned into 4 equal groups. External magnetic field of 4100-4200 Gs was established in the unilateral kidney area of each mouse, and CDDP-MNP was administered via the tail vein, with the external magnetic field maintained in groups A, B, C, and D for 30 min and 1, 2 and 4 h after the injection, respectively. A flame atomic absorption spectrometer (AAS) was used to detect CDDP concentration in the mouse kidney tissues. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), Prussian blue staining, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were used to detect the distribution of the magnetic nanoparticles in vivo., Results: In groups A, B and C, the concentrations of CDDP in the targeted kidney tissues increased significantly in comparison with those in non-targeted kidney. The signal intensity of the targeted kidney tissue was lower than that of the non-targeted kidney on T2-weighted MR images. TEM and Prussian blue staining demonstrated MNP distribution in the lumens and endothelial cells of the blood capillary in the kidney tissue., Conclusion: CDDP-MNP allows targeted distribution induced by external magnetic field in normal mice after intravenous injection.

Objective: To provide efficient support for transnasal endoscopic optic canal decompression with more applied and sufficient imaging study on the optic canal., Method: Three-dimensional reconstruction, stereotaxis and related anatomic data of lateral wall of sphenoid-ethmoidal sinuses were got by Multiplanar spiral computed tomographic (MSCT) and AW4.1 software on 14 cases of traumatic optic neuropathy. The data were compared with the results of operations., Result: 1) The scan plane of nasal-processus clinoideus anterior accorded with optic canal completely; 2) The length of the optic canal were (11.83+/-2.31) mm; 3) Locating mark of optic canal and enhanced internal carotid artery in CT scans which accorded with operations completely were synchronously displayed in sagittal 3D images of lateral wall of sphenoid-ethmoidal sinuses in the whole range., Conclusion: The scan plane of nasal-processus clinoideus anterior is the best plane for the CT study of optic canal; Preoperative spatial stereotaxis of optic canal can be simply made by MSCT with good quality to actually reflect personal condition of optic canal and its relationship with lateral wall of sphenoid-ethmoidal sinuses and internal carotid artery exactly and directly. It is better than traditional CT films. And it provides supports for scheduling operation and help getting safe and effective transnasal endoscopic optic canal decompression by sufficient and practical imagings.

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and complications of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) with or without transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) for management of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)., Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted for 62 small HCC cases undergoing RFA with or without TACE, and in each case, the tumors were not more than 3 with a diameter below 5 cm. Nineteen cases were managed with RFA alone (RFA group) while the other 27 underwent RFA combined with TACE (TACE+RFA group). Percutaneous RFA (RITA 1500) procedure was performed under CT guidance 1-3 weeks after TACE in TACE+RFA group., Results: The complete tumor necrosis rate was 77.8% (21/27) in TACE+RFA group, significantly higher than that in RFA group [57.9% (11/19), P<0.01], and the former group had a significantly lower local recurrence rate than the latter [22.2% (6/27) vs 42.1% (8/19), P<0.01]. Postoperative fever, local pain and temporary hepatic function abnormality were the common complications that were relieved after proper interventions, and mortality did not occur in these cases., Conclusion: The combination of TACE and RFA significantly increases the complete tumor necrosis rate and decreases the recurrence rate of small HCC. CT-guided percutaneous RFA can be a safe and effective therapy for small HCC.

Objective: To explore the method of displaying the bone and joint structures transfixed with stainless steel lag screws using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), 2 patients whose knee joints (and ankle joint in one case) were transfixed with stainless steel underwent MRI with FSE-XL pulse sequence. The images clearly displayed the bones, ligaments and articular cartilage around the stainless steel materials, demonstrating the efficacy of FSE-XL pulse sequence in evaluation of the anatomical features of the bones and joints transfixed with stainless steel materials.

Objective: To evaluate the value of Advantage Windows 3.1 (AW 3.1) software for anatomical study of nasofrontal region, and to study the CT characteristics of nasofrontal region which related to the frontal sinus surgery., Methods: Eighty patients underwent axial consecutive computed tomography scans and these data were studied with AW 3.1 software which provided reconstructional imaging of continuous coronal, sagittal, axial sections. Some related structures of nasofrontal region were studied and measured., Results: AW 3.1 software could identify and measure the following structures accurately: The diameter of frontal sinus was (22.5 +/- 8.6) mm in height, (16.3 +/- 6.8) mm in depth, (23.8 +/- 9.8) mm in breadth. The diameter of frontal sinus ostium: the anterior-posterior diameter was (7.3 +/- 1.7) mm, the transverse diameter was (8.5 +/- 1.9) mm. The width of nasal beak of frontal bone(5.9 +/- 1.4 ) mm. The distance of frontal sinus ostium to the floor of columella nasi and the corresponding angle to the nasal floor were (60.8 +/- 4.2) mm and (70.1 +/- 4.7) degrees. The superior attachment sites of the uncinate process were as follows: lamina papyracea 41%, posteromedial wall of agger nasi cell 11%, middle turbinate 19%, anterior skull base 16%, superior bifurcation 13%. The cells could impinge on the frontal recess to cause obstruction (terminal recess 38.8%, anterior ethmoid cell 27.6%, agger nasi cells 24.5%). The accessory cells could impinge on the frontal sinus (perifrontal cells 32.7%, superaorbital cells 38.8%, intersinus septal cells 32.0%). There was significant difference between two groups of characteristics of nasofrontal region., Conclusions: AW 3.1 software is a helpful and powerful new tool for anatomical study of nasofrontal region and for preoperative evaluation. The structures of nasofrontal region are complex and various, frontal sinusitis almost always results from the obstruction of frontal sinus outflow tract. These results of anatomical study of nasofrontal region are helpful in directing the functional endoscopic surgery in frontal sinus.
