The stress-strain behavior of rubber compounds is one of the key items to determine its application performance, and the different service conditions, especially the strain rate, have variable requirements for the performance of rubber compounds. The influence of tension strain rate on the stress-strain behavior of styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) vulcanizates filled with 3 kinds of carbon black was investigated from the point of view of rubber reinforcement. It was found that the stress at a given elongation of any SBR vulcanizate increases with increasing strain rate, and the more reinforcing the carbon black, the higher increment rate the stresses. For any given SBR vulcanizate, the stress increment rate decreases with the increase in strain. As the strain exceeds the critical points, such as 300%, the effect of strain rate on the rate of stress increase is becoming equivalent and independent of carbon black grades. From a filler reinforcement point of view, the tensile modulus of filled vulcanizates in the plateau region is governed by the surface activity of the carbon black. In quasi-static tension test, the networking of carbon black in vulcanizate will be gradually broken with increasing strain, which the break-up is predominantly controlled by strain rather than strain rate. A series of fatty aeid polyethylene glycol esters were synthesized by esterification reaction of fatty acids with different carbon chain lengths and polyethylene glycol. The content of monoesters and diesters in the products was determined by measuring the acid value, hydroxyl value, and polyethylene glycol content. Its flow state was observed, and its wetting, emulsification, foam and decontamination performance were measured. The results showed that as the feed ratio of C12 acid to polyethylene glycol 400 increased, the polyethylene glycol content of the product decreased, the monoester content decreased, and the diester content increased. The freezing point of fatty acid polyethylene glycol 600 ester is higher than that of fatty acid PEG400 ester. Fatty acid carbon chains grow, wetting deteriorates, and foaming ability weakens. The em unification ability of fatty acid PEG600 ester is stronger than that of fatty acid PEG400 ester. C12 Acid PEG600 has the strongest emulsifying power of soybean oil and paraffin. The detergency of fatty acid PEG400 ester and fatty acid PEG600 ester on carbon black is equivalent, while C18 acid PEG600 ester has the strongest detergency on sebum. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In order to improve the sensitivity, responsiveness and stability of flexible pressure sensor based on fabric, a variable honeycomb weave fabric with a dome-shaped micro-surface structure was woven by introducing micro-structures in the woven structure design into cotton fabric. Variable honeycomb fabric, carbon black(CB)and polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)were used as raw materials, different sensor fabrics were prepared by immersion method. The relationship between the mass fraction of carbon black and the sensor resistance was tested, the structural morphology and mechanical sensing performance of the prepared sensor were characterized to explore its application in human motion monitoring. The results showed that the prepared sensor had high sensitivity and small hysteresis when the mass fraction of carbon black was 5% and the sensor resistance was decreased to 20 kΩ/cm. Under different pressures and compression rates, the sensor could maintain better stability, repeatability and durability. It is considered that the prepared sensor can be applied to human motion monitoring, including finger pressing, knuckle, wrist and elbow bending movements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

High-dielectric polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) composites are widely used in electronic communications, new energy storage, aerospace and other fields due to their advantages of light weight, good flexibility, and easy processing. At present, PVDF matrix composites are mainly divided into two categories: inorganic/organic composite system and full organic composite system, but the application of full organic system is limited by its complex chemical process. This paper reviews the application status and research progress of three inorganic fillers in PVDF-based dielectric materials, namely ceramic particles, metal particles and carbon particles, and focuses on the research progress of expanded graphite, graphene oxide, carbon nanotubes, carbon black and carbon fiber in carbon fillers, and looks forward to the modification direction of inorganic fillers in PVDF composites. In recent years, gas diffusion electrodes (GDE) have gained much attention in improving the efficiency of electrochemical synthesis of H2O2 as they allow oxygen/air to be supplied to the cathode surface from outside without dissolving in the electrolyte. In this paper, mesoporous carbon was used as the catalytic layer material and purchased commercial carbon black and graphite were used as the diffusion layer materials to prepare the electrodes, respectively. From the amount of H2O2 produced and the current efficiency, it can be seen that when the catalytic layer is mesoporous carbon and the ratio with PTFE emulsion is 2:1, and the diffusion layer is carbon black and the ratio with PTFE emulsion is 1:3, at a drumming rate of 18 L/h, an electrolyte of Na2SO4 solution with a concentration of 0.5 mol/L, a current density of 10 mA/cm² and an initial pH value of 11.0, it can efficiently produce H2O2 production as 47 mmol/L for 60 min. Icing on wind power blades, cables, and other surfaces will seriously affect the normal operation of wind turbine. Therefore, it is of great application value to study effective anti-icing and deicing technology. In this paper, polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) solution and carbon black nanoparticles were used to prepare a composite coating with superhydrophobicity and photothermal effect on the ceramic sheet surface by simple spraying method. The composite coating exhibited a high water contact angle of up to 165.0° and a low roll-off angle of 4.1°. Static icing and photothermal deicing experiments were conducted, and it was found that the PVDF/carbon black superhydrophobic composite coating not only effectively delayed the freezing of water droplet on its surface, but also rapidly increased the surface temperature under infrared radiation, demonstrating excellent anti-icing and deicing performance. Poly(12-hydroxystearate) was prepared by polycondensation. Palmitic acid, 3-dimethylaminopropylamine and poly(12-hydroxystearate) were reacted to form a terminated polyhydroxystearate aliphatic amine (HTPF) hyperdispersant. The structure of the product was characterized by IR and ¹H NMR. The dispersion effect of HTPF on carbon black was analyzed by sedimentation experiment and scanning electron microscope. HTPF was added into ABS/carbon black masterbatch, and the effects of the amount of HTPF on the rheological and mechanical properties of ABS/carbon black masterbatch were studied. The results show that the loss modulus and storage modulus of the composites decrease gradually with the increase of HTPF content compared with the pure masterbatch, and the composites appear shear thinning behavior. With the increase of HTPF content, the mechanical properties of the composites gradually improved. When the content of HTPF is 40%, the tensile strength and impact strength of the composite reach the maximum of 45.9 MPa and 8.54 kJ/m²; When the content of HTPF is 50%, the flexural strength of the composites reaches 80.22 MPa. In order to study the effect of industrial carbon black on properties of multiphase bonded silicon carbide refractories,the samples were prepared using silicon carbide particles (3-1 and 1 - 0.088 mm) and fine powder ( <0.088 mm),silicon powder ( <0.088 mm),industrial carbon black (N990), microsilica (d50 =0.26 µm) and p-Al2O3 micropowder (d50 =6.0 µm) as the main raw materials, casting molding and heat treating at 1 400 °C in nitrogen atmosphere. The physical properties, phase composition and microstructure of samples with N990 additions of 2.5%, 3.0%, and 3.5% by mass were analyzed and compared.The results show that: (1) with N990 addition increasing, the flowability of the casting mud is improved, the demoulding and drying strengths are increased; (2) with the increase of N990 addition, the apparent porosity of the nitridized material increases, the bulk density and modulus of rupture both decrease, the content of free carbon increases, and the a-Si3N4 content decreases; (3) with the increase of N990 addition, because the particles agglomerating probability of carbon black increases, the uniformity of the samples become worse after nitridizing. Reaction sintering occurs between Si-C and Si-N, in addition to the continuous flocculent matrix, dense island-like β-SiC or O'-SiAlON phases also appear locally. Modified carbon black hybriding polyurethane/poly(ethyl methacrylate) (M-CB@PU/PEMA) composites were synthesized by a two-step method. The effects of M-CB content and dispersion on the damping properties, heat resistance and dielectric properties of composites were studied. The molecular dynamics simulation method was used to analyze the change trend of the radial distribution function and relative free volume of composites after the addition of M-CB. The results show that the addition of M-CB can improve the damping properties, heat resistance and dielectric properties of composites. When the mass fraction of M-CB reaches 5.0%, the dispersion of M-CB in PU matrix is the best, and the loss factor reaches 0.44. Compared with pure polymer, the initial decomposition temperature is increased by 20.51 °. After adding 5.0% M-CB, the binding energy of composite is increased by 235.48 kJ/mol, and the relative free volume is the smallest. With the addition of M-CB, the polymer chain segments are stacked more closely, and the intermolecular binding force is increased, thereby improving damping properties of composites. Ethylene glycol-based carbon black slurry is prepared by ultra-fine dispersion method, and the influence of mass ratio of dispersant to carbon black, grinding time and rotation speed on carbon black particle size is clarified by single-factor variable method. Ethylene glycol-based carbon black slurry is prepared by orthogonal experiment optimization of carbon black dispersion process, and the morphological structure and dispersion status of carbon black in ethylene glycol solution are observed. The results show that when the mass ratio of dispersant to carbon black is 1:10, the grinding time is 180 min and the rotational speed is 3500 r/min, the dispersion effect of carbon black is the best, and the average particle size is 170. 89 nm. The centrifugal stability in ethylene glycol solution is more than 90%, the heat resistance stability is more than 90%, and it has excellent storage stability. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In order to clarify the dust explosion hazard of carbon materials, the explosiveness of 6 kinds of carbon dust materials was studied according to 3 standards. According to VDI 2263-1—1990, the low-carbon earthy graphite, the pigment carbon black and the conductive carbon black are explosive dust, low-carbon flake graphite, high-carbon flake graphite, and high-carbon earthy graphite are non-explosive dust. According to ASTM E 1226 and GB/T 16425—2018, all the 6 kinds of samples are explosive. The sensitivity characteristics of various samples were tested according to the existing test standards, the 6 types of powder dust clouds was not fired, but the dust layer of conducting charcoal black and pigment charcoal black fired at 450℃. By using the TG-DSC method, it is found that high-carbon flake graphite, high-carbon earthy graphite and conductive carbon black experienced an oxidative exothermic reaction in the air atmosphere, with a starting temperature of 770, 680, 500℃ respectively. The explosiveness of graphite and carbon black depend on the ignition energy, and explosion will occur if it exceeds 10kJ. To improve their thermal shock resistance, MgO-Al-C materials were prepared using sintered magnesia 98, fused magnesia 98, Al powder, carbon black N220 (25 -20 nm), granulated zirconia micropowder, and zirconia hollow cenosphere as raw materials and phenolic resin as the binder. The effects of the granulated zirconia micropowder addition (0,1%, 2%, 3% and 4%, by mass) and the zirconia hollow cenosphere addition (0,2%, 4% and 6%, by mass) on the cold and the hot properties, the phase composition and the microstructure of the samples were researched. The results show that: (1) the granulated zirconia micropowder is agglomerates with porous structure and compressibility, which can absorb thermal stress; with the addition of 2%, the thermal shock resistance of the sample is improved, the strength retention ratio increases by 3.9% compared with that of the original sample Z0, and other properties are almost the same as those of sample Z0; (2) the zirconia cenosphere has a hollow structure with elasticity, which can also absorb thermal stress; with the addition of 4%,the thermal shock resistance of the sample significantly improves with the strength retention ratio increasing by 8% compared with that of sample Z0; the apparent porosity is 12.4%,the bulk density is 2.87 g ⋅ cm-3, the density is higher than that of sample Z0; the oxidation resistance improves to a certain extent with the thickness of the oxidation layer decreasing by 0.15 mm compared with that of sample Z0, and other properties do not significantly change compared with those of sample Z0.
