The article reports that demand for rare-earth elements used in wind turbines and electric cars is exceeding supply, putting China in advantageous position as 95 percent of supply is from it. It states that dysprosium and neodymium which are used to make magnets to generate torque in motors of automobiles are expected to fall short by 2015. It mentions that Molycorp Minerals LLC which owns a site of these in Mountain Pass, California is rebuilding infrastructure to turn them into magnets.
