A New Focus for Light.

The article reports on the light-focusing optical antennas that could lead to digital versatile discs (DVD) that hold hundreds of movies created by Harvard University electrical engineers Kenneth Crozier and Federico Capasso. Crozier and Capasso discovered a simple process that could bring the benefits of tightly focused light beams to commercial applications by adding nanoscale optical antennas to a commercially available laser. According to the researchers, the antenna does not impose design constraints on the laser.
