Abstract

Fast and accurate test Cr(VI) in the whole blood is particularly critical for the treatment and prevention of Cr(VI) poisoning. Here, a blood compatible, high-efficient sensor based on the magnetic glassy carbon electrode (MGCE) that modified by conductive polyaniline (PANI), heparin and tannin modified Fe3O4 nanoparticles (magnetic tannin-modified adsorbent, MTA) with high adsorption ability toward Cr(VI) ions was developed. Results indicated the designed PANI/Hep/MTA/MGCE exhibited high sensitivity for Cr(VI) in the concentration range of 10−7 to 10−4 ppm with a 0.87 μM detection limit (3σ method). In particular, this prepared sensor not only exhibited outstanding electrochemical performance for Cr(VI) detection, but also possessed good antibiofouling characteristics due to the existence of heparin, which can provide guarantee for direct detection of Cr(VI) in the whole blood.

Abstract

The design, synthesis and photo-physical properties of two novel dialdehyde bridged turn-on fluorescent probes with dual C N moiety based on bis(fluorescein) for OCl− detection with high selectivity and sensitivity were reported. The well-defined linear plots between 5.0 μM and 500.0 μM of OCl− make the probes especially suitable for the quantification of OCl−. The ring-opening progress was investigated both experimentally and computationally. Fluorescent imaging for OCl− in living MG-63 cells have also been successfully performed.

Abstract

Three new rhodamine Schiff base sensors 1a–1c have been designed and synthesized as highly sensitive and selective “off-on” chemosensors for Cu2+ detection via the rhodamine ring-opening approach. The sensors display remarkably Cu2+-selective orange fluorescence and pink color switch over a wide range of tested metal ions. Fluorescent imaging of Cu2+ in living cells is also successfully demonstrated.
