Several integrated oil and gas companies such as ExxonMobil, Chevron, Shell and ConocoPhillips have revealed plans to contribute an initial $1 billion for the development of a modular, rapid-response blowout plan in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico. The main aim is to prevent an oil spill as the one caused by BPEs Macondo runaway well in the Gulf of Mexico.
