Abstract—The study is related to the investigation of hysteretic and magnetostrictive properties of single-layer Fe10Ni90 films and nano-structured [Fe10Ni90/Cu]p/Fe10Ni90 films, in which magnetostrictive layers are separated with a nonmagnetic interlayer. The magnetostriction effect is shown to depend on the total layer thickness; in this case, the magnetostriction of the [Fe10Ni90/Cu]p/Fe10Ni90 film structures was found to be higher than that of the single-layer Fe10Ni90 films. The peculiarities of induced magnetic anisotropy and magnetization reversal processes of single-layer and 10 to 200-nm-thick multilayer Fe20Ni80 films, which were prepared by oblique angle deposition, have been studied. In-plane uniaxial magnetic anisotropy has been found for all single-layer films. Upon deposition of multilayer films, the substrate holder was rotated by 90° before the deposition of each of the subsequent layers. The axis of the resulting magnetic anisotropy was found to make an angle of 45° with the magnetic anisotropy axes of individual layers. The magnetization reversal processes in the samples are considered taking into account both the coherent magnetic moment rotation and the nucleation of reverse magnetization domains and domain wall motion. The magnetic and magnetoresistive properties of layered film composites of the M/Fe20Ni80 type, where M = Fe86Al14, Fe40Co60, have been investigated. The effect of elastic deformation on the hysteresis and magnetoresistive properties of individual layers and bilayer films is determined. It is proposed to consider the synergy of magnetostriction and magnetoresistance of individual layers in a bilayered structure as a tensomagnetoresistive effect, which has the potential for practical application in force-sensing devices and for quantitative estimation of the magnetostrictive properties of materials in the film state. Systematic data on the structural state and magnetic properties of films belonging to the binary Dy100 –xCox system have been measured within broad ranges of compositions (0 ≤ x < 85), temperatures (5‒300 K), and magnetic fields (0–70 kOe). It was found that in the absence of magnetic moment on Co atoms (x ≤ 50), the films are in an asperomagnetic state, in which a considerable and nonmonotonical concentration change in the principal magnetic characteristics is observed. In the region of x > 50, the films have a sperimagnetic structure. The magnetic properties of the [Tb–Co/Si]n films are studied at temperatures of 5–300 K. The regularities of changing the effective magnetic moment of terbium and the average magnetic moment of cobalt with decreasing magnetic layer thickness are determined. In this case, interlayer interfaces are shown to play the active role. A decrease in the Tb–Co layer thickness is accompanied by an increase in the opening angle of sperimagnetic cone and the transition from the sperimagnetic to speromagetic structure. Nanoscale [Tb–Co/Ti]n and [Tb–Co/Si]n multilayers were designed and prepared by the rf-sputtering technique. Their structure and magnetic properties have been experimentally studied. Low-angle X‑ray diffraction studies confirmed that a well-defined layered structure was formed in all investigated cases. The change in the magnetic properties of multilayers with a decrease in the thickness of the Tb–Co layers was due to both the size effect and the influence of the material of the non-magnetic spacers, namely the reduction of the Co atom moment because of the electron charge transfer from atoms of the Ti or Si spacers to atoms of the cobalt. The phenomenon of spontaneous spin reorientation in Gd–Сo amorphous films, which results from the competition between the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy and shape anisotropy, is studied. It is shown that the reorientation occurs via the formation of a fine-grained nonuniform magnetic structure called hypercritical state in a wide temperature range. Magnetic domains in the spin-reorientation region are characterized using magnetic and magneto-optical measurements. Based on the experimental magnetometric data and results of simulating the temperature dependences of spontaneous magnetization, the phase diagram of the films containing 16–26 at % Gd is constructed, which, being plotted on coordinates elemental composition—temperature, exhibits the ranges of existence of the perpendicular anisotropy, transition magnetic anisotropy (hypercritical state), and planar magnetization state. Abstract: The effect of selective thermomagnetic treatment on the exchange interaction between magnetic layers in Fe11Ni89/Tb30Co70/Ti films has been investigated. Dependencies of the exchange bias field induced in the Fe11Ni89 layer on the annealing temperature have been obtained and interpreted. We consider structural modifications of the interface and stress-relaxation processes in the Fe11Ni89 layer to be the main reasons for the observed modifications of hysteresis properties.
