The article focuses on the measurement of the responses to deltamethrin of England's field samples of Thrips tabaci. The measurement is intended to establish the level of potential resistance to deltamethrin. It was found that all the samples have significant resistance to this compound that was comparable to the maximum level reported for T. tabaci in New Zealand. It is considered that the findings of this study have stimulated the recommendation to use alternatives.
The article presents the discoveries of scientist Michel Elliott in insecticide chemistry which focused on safe and effective pest control. It states that Elliot's discoveries of resmethrin, cypermethrin, permethrin and deltamethrin in England with David Pulman and Norman Janes provide crop protection and malaria control for millions of people. It also states his achievements in the research on lipophilic amide, dithiane and stereochemically pure crystalline compound.
Summarizes the results of two surveys of the temporal and spatial dynamics of insecticide resistance in the aphid Myzus persicae in England. Methodology; Results; Discussion.
