The article presents a report from the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Patuxent Wildlife Research Center for the fall of 2013. Topics covered include the retirement of the Laurel and Lakeshore Estates backyard stations because of declining agility, the absence of an Atlantic hurricane entering the Gulf of Mexico or the Atlantic coast of North America, and the recapturing of a banded Common Yellowthroat by bander Aaron Given.

The article discusses bird banding activities within Region IV Piedmont-Coastal Plain during Fall 2011. Fall migration in 2011 were affected by weather conditions in which temperatures were reported to be at monthly averages of 5 to 8 degrees Fahrenheit above normal. The abnormal temperature resulted in the delay of the southward migration of many species with some never reaching their normal wintering grounds.

This article presents the spring 2009 bird banding report from the Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, one of the several Atlantic Flyway stations located in Miami-Dade County. The station banded one Marsh Wren, five Blackburnian Warblers, ten Summer Tanagers and 17 Tennessee Warblers. Also cited in the report are Eastern Wood-Pewees, White-eyed Vireos and thrushes.

This article presents the spring 2009 bird banding report from the Tomoka Bird Banding Station, one of the several Atlantic Flyway stations located in Volusia County, Florida. The station reported the capture and banding of an Audubon's Warbler, the first ever branded in the state. The station banded three new species, namely Acadian Flycatcher, Rose-breasted Grosbeak and Field Sparrow.

This article presents the spring 2009 bird banding report from the North Folly Island Lighthouse Creek Heritage Preserve Banding Station, one of the several Atlantic Flyway stations located in South Carolina. The station reported a notable reduction in the number of birds, presumably because of the weather conditions. But some interesting birds were caught such as an Alder Flycatcher, a Gray Catbird, and a Ruby-crowned Kinglet.

This article presents the spring 2009 bird banding report from the Eastern Shore of Virginia National Wildlife Refuge Songbird Banding Station, one of the several Atlantic Flyway stations located in Northampton County. The station banded a total of 7,860 birds. Among the birds included in the report are the Northern Parulas, Northern Waterthrushes and American Redstarts.

This article presents the spring 2009 bird banding report from the Kiawah Island Banding Station, one of the several Atlantic Flyway stations located in Charleston County, South Carolina. The station operated at two undeveloped sites, Captain Sam's Spit and Cougar Island. Captain Sam's Spit banded a total of 521 new birds along with 83 recaptures. While, Cougar Island banded a total of 283 new birds along with 27 recaptures.

This article presents the spring 2009 bird banding report from Robbins Nest, one of the several Atlantic Flyway stations located in Prince George's County, Maryland. The station reported a decreased number of captures for chickadees, flycatchers, vireos, catbirds, warblers and thrushes. Notable returns include a five-year-old cardinal and a five-year-old catbird.

This article presents the spring 2009 bird banding report from Foreman's Branch Bird Observatory, one of the several Atlantic Flyway stations located in Queen Anne's County, Maryland. The station banded a record-breaking seven Green Herons, 14 Northern Saw-whet Owls, a record-high five Philadelphia Vireos, a Marsh Wren and a Bicknell's Thrush. It is also reported that species diversity was down for the second year in a row.

The station reported a decreased number of captures for Black-throated Blue, Magnolia Warbler, Northern Waterthrush, American Redstart, Common Yellowthroat and Baltimore Oriole. Decreased numbers are also seen in Indigo Buntings, Song Sparrows and Northern Cardinal.

This article presents the spring 2009 bird banding report from Lakeshore Estates, one of the several Atlantic Flyway stations located in Leon County, Florida. The station reported a slight improvement of netting success, attributed to a doubling of the number of Northern Cardinals banded in 2009. Among the birds included in the report are Swainson's Thrush, Yellow-breasted Chat and Hermit Thrush.

This article presents the spring 2009 bird banding report from the Kiptopeke Songbird Banding Station, one of the several Atlantic Flyway stations located in Northampton County, Virginia. The station banded a total of 4,119 birds, 57 percent of the season average of 7,167 since 1997. The decline was reflected in the Myrtle Warbler, the most common species in the station.

This article presents the spring 2009 bird banding report from the Jekyll Island Banding Station, one of the several Atlantic Flyway stations located in Glynn County, Georgia. The station reported a shortened session for the season, resulting to a decline in the number of birds captured. Fifty percent of the captures consists of yellowthroats and Western Palm Warblers.

This article presents the spring 2009 bird banding report from the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, one of the several Atlantic Flyway stations located in Accomack County, Virginia. The station reported a decrease in the number of birds during the banding season. The loss of one major banding habitat and a large number of rainy days are factors attributed to the decrease. The station also pronounced the lack of warbler species.

This article presents the spring 2009 bird banding report from Patuxent Powerline Right-of-Way, one of the several Atlantic Flyway stations located in Prince George's County, Maryland. The station banded a total of 1,902 birds of 75 species. Among the birds included in the report are American Woodcock, Warbling Vireo, Philadelphia Vireo, Cedar Waxwing and Yellow-billed Cuckoo.

The article offers information on the Robbins Nest backyard station in Laurel, Maryland. The station is located on the south bank of the Patuxent River gorge five miles upstream from the Patuxent Powerline station. The front side of the station is well shaded with trees such as apple, pear and cherry as well as vines and shrubs while the back side is steep mature oak-tulip forest. The station caught almost 10 times as many birds per net-hour due to its shrub habitat.
