The heptagonal-shaped monopole antenna design for ultrawideband (UWB) applications is proposed. This antenna is designed on PCB FR4 substrate with relative permittivity ɛr = 4.4, loss tangent tan δ = 0.0245, and thickness h = 1.6 mm. The antenna consists of a radiated patch, a feed line, and a ground plane. With the different geometrical parameters, simulated and experimental results of the antenna are suitable for UWB operations. The bandwidth VSWR < 2 of the UWB antennas from measurement is ∼122.02% (2.63-10.86 GHz). To decrease the interference with the wireless local area networks (WLANs) at 5.2/5.8 GHz and worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) at 3.5/5.5 GHz, two band-notched filters covering from 3.4 to 3.69 and 5.15 to 5.85 GHz was design. Two L-shaped slots on the patch and two slot-type split ring resonators (SRRs) on the ground plane were used to produce two band-notched frequency bands. The results for VSWR, far-field H- and E-plane radiation patterns and gain of the proposed antennas are presented and discussed. The radiation area of the design antenna is 26 × 16.38 mm2. ABSTRACT In this article, a new configuration of ultra-wideband (UWB) monopole antenna employs two slot-type split ring resonators (SRRs) with band-notched filters in 5-6 GHz WiMAX/WLAN bands. The UWB antenna consists of the octagonal, heptagonal, and triangular patches. A 50 microstrip feedline is employed to stimulate the monopole antenna. With adjusting the size and the position of two slot-type SRRs on the ground plane, the UWB antenna produce a single band-notched and decrease interference with the WiMAX/WLAN bands. The results for VSWR, far-field H- and E-plane radiation patterns and gain of the proposed antennas are presented and discussed. The radiation area of the design antenna is 24 × 17.4 mm2. ABSTRACT In this letter, a novel coupling configuration for a stepped impedance resonator (SIR) is proposed and used in the design of triple-passband filters with a small circuit. The filter was designed to have higher selectivity by manipulating direct coupling, input, and output external quality factors of the SIR. The second and third resonant frequencies can be tuned by adjusting the structural parameters. To verify the proposed configuration, triple-passband Chebyshev filters were designed and implemented using microstrip lines. The consistency between the measured results and full-wave simulation prediction validated that the configuration of the proposed filters is feasible. © 2015 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. In this article, a new configuration of higher selectivity bandpass filter using miniature open-loop stepped-impedance resonator (SIR) is designed and fabricated. The central frequency of the filter is 2.45 GHz and the bandwidth is 8%. Using miniature open-loop SIR resonator, we design filter based on cross-coupling and input and output external quality factor. A single transmission zero is realized by the cross-coupling in the structures, which can improve the skirt selectivity of the filter. The circuit size of a miniature open-loop SIR bandpass filter reduces to 50% of the square open-loop resonator bandpass filter. In this letter, we propose the second-order integrators in the Z domain; the second-order integrators are obtained by interpolating the traditional Simpson's- and trapezoidal-rule integrators. This formulation, in conjunction with the representations of transmission-line elements in the Z domain, leads to the transmission-line configuration that is eligible for a microwave integrator. We implement second-order integrators in the microstrip format that has an operating frequency up to 8.5 GHz. In this letter, a new configuration consisting of parallel coupled lines and nonuniform transmission lines is used to study band-pass filters. Using a combination of the wavy-edge coupled-lines and ring resonators of the harmonic pass-band of the parallel-coupled line filter is rejected more effectively. A synthesis method is presented for Chebyshev Type II band-pass filters in the microwave frequency range. The bilinear transformation is employed to represent the trapezoidal-rule integrator in the Z domain. This formulation, in conjunction with the representations of transmission-line elements in the Z domain, leads to the transmission-line configuration that is eligible for a microwave integrator. A microstrip circuit is implemented to verify the feasibility of the technique. A synthesizing method is presented to design Elliptic band-pass filters in the microwave frequency range. The Elliptic band-pass filter is implemented by using a coupled-serial-shunted line structure. Using a continuous perturbation of wiggly-groove and ring resonator of the couple line the harmonic pass-band of the filter is rejected. A transmission-line configuration consisting of equal-length two-section open stubs, serial lines, and short stubs is employed to emulate the Z-domain transfer function of a wideband band-pass filter. Both mitering and slots are used to reduce the discontinuity effect caused by the abrupt changes of characteristic impedances of transmission lines.
