The article discusses a study that reported a case of vertical transmission of congenital toxoplasmosis in wild boar (Sus scrofa). Lesions compatible with acute toxoplasmosis were identified in a pregnant female and her three fetuses following necropsy and histopathologic examination. Toxoplasma gondii in maternal and fetal samples were detected. Findings suggest that the pathogenicity of the various T. gondii types may differ in wild boars.
