The article informs about Ventral versus lateral approach for mandibular and sublingual sialoadenectomy in dogs. Topics include strong need for extensive rostral dissection to remove the entire course of the mandibular/sublingual duct and all of the polystomatic salivary glands to achieve a satisfactory outcome; and literature describes both transection of the muscle as well as traumatic passage of the duct from lateral to medial around the digastricus retracting the digastricus.

The article presents a case of a 12-year-old spayed female mixed-breed dog having a medical history of a back problem. The physical examination revealed that the dog's trunk swayed back and forth irregularly and having signs of dysmetria in all limbs. Statistical data of the dog's neurologic examination results is tabulated. Meanwhile, the diagnosis of the problems is also discussed.
