7. Getting inside the House: The Effectiveness of a Rape Prevention Program for College Fraternity Men.

Abstract

Investigates the effectiveness of a socialization-focused rape prevention program designed specifically for college fraternity men. Results suggest that a socialization approach to rape education was as effective as a more traditional prevention program with regard to attitudes and knowledge. Although attitudes rebounded to previous levels at the follow-up, a relationship between gender-role conflict and rape myth acceptance was discovered. The Measure of Moral Orientation (MMO) is compared to semistructured interviews with college students. Results support the validity and reliability of MMO as a standardized assessment of moral voice. Tested reliability and validity of an instrument designed to measure the strength of care, and justice as moral voices, in college students. Used 381 students in the study and found that the internal consistency and validity of the instrument were satisfactory. Construct validity was limited by the lack of other appropriate instruments.
