Abstract

The effects of hydrostatic pressure on the magnetism, capacitance, and impedance of a manganese zinc ferrite device are examined. The analysis has shown that the pressure effects have resulted from the variation of the interior stress in the ferrite.

Abstract

Several crystallographic studies are conducted to explain the impact of the randomly existing charge ordered stripes on the magnetotransport properties of [La.sub.0.6][Sr.sub.0.4]Mn[O.sub.3] perovskite, which is substituted with diamagnetic ions at Mn sublattice. The saturation magnetization of the compound is shown to decrease with an increase in the doping concentrations at the Mn sites.

Abstract

Raman scattering at room temperature is reported in Zn(sub 1-x)Mn(sub x)O nanoparticles for the range of 0 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 0.15. It is found that Raman line shapes for the ZnO E2 phonon in Zn(sub 1-x)Mn(sub x)O alloys can be well described by the spatial correlation model.

Abstract

The optical conductivity of pulsed laser deposition (PLD) films of NiMnSb is measured and interband features related to direct transitions across the minority-spin valence band are exposed. The presence of indirect spin-reversing transitions between the Fermi energy (E(sub f)) and the extrema of the minority-spin valence and conduction bands, providing a measure of the band edge energies, are reported.

Abstract

Several spectroscopic investigations are performed on Cr:Li2MSiO4 (M=Mg,Zn) crystals to understand the exceptionally long fluorescence lifetime of Cr(sub IV) in Li2MSiO4 (M=Mg.Zn). Contrary to situation found in most Cr(sub IV) activated compounds, the (super 1)E level lies below the (super 3)T(sub 2) one.
