We describe the case of Facso, a database of the minutes and other documents of the Board of the Faculty of Social Sciences, which illustrates the integration of Unesco's WinIsis database management system with Dropbox acting as a "virtual hard disk" on the cloud. Various routing options are shown, even incorporating the old Ms-dos .bat executable commands. This has been tested in a 64-bit version with Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 8 using Oracle's Virtual Box, and on 32-bit PC desktop, notebook, and netbook platforms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The documentary language thesaurus, as standard terms, have been an important development for document management using software applications such as TemaTres, which is a controlled vocabulary server. This free application, for use on the web, provides continuous access to the sets of documents on specific topics for study, research and decision making. The entry into force of the Spanish act about digital access (Ley 11/2007, BOE n. 150, de 23/6/2007) has produced a decisive impact on the development of records management projects in organizations. The Entitat Autònoma del Diari Oficial i de Publicacions, the body that publishes Diari Oficial de la Generalitat de Catalunya (DOGC) -the official journal of the Catalan government-, started its editing process adaptation to the electronic environment in 2009, based on Llei 2/2007 (DOGC, 5/6/2007), an act that defines the digital format as the only official format for DOGC. Two key projects in this process are presented: adoption and adaptation of EuroVoc thesaurus as an indexation tool, and the design of the new digital cycle of DOGC production and publication. Zyncro opens a new dimension in corporate documentation management, based on the well-known concept of intranets and adapting it to the new 2.0 culture of collaboration and work online. Internal communications in public and private organizations are alive, and their flows of interaction between internal and external members of the organization are becoming more intense. Tools capable of handling large volumes of information in an easy, fast and secure manner are needed. This is where Zyncro appears: as the new intranet 2.0. Advertising, one of the leading communications media today, requires special techniques for research and documentation without which its effectiveness could be questioned. A brief study is made of advertising documentation in Spain from the theoretical and practical points of view. Then, the models for document management used in the agencies are studied and explained, and a definition of what is understood to be advertising documentation is drawn up. Corporate competition is based less on differences in the products they offer than on a company's ability to differentiate itself through the management of what are called intangible assets: corporate image, brand, reputation, etc. A renewed emphasis on managing intangible assets is required, with two fundamental phases: image assessment at a specific point in time and proper management of the corporate image to optimize the company's position in the minds of the general public. Attention to corporate image is essential for midsize organizations that have not yet understood or are just beginning to understand that tangible differentiation is not enough to establish competitive advantages in an increasingly globalized market. This paper addresses the value-added importance that documentation has (or should have) as companies manage their intangible assets, especially the corporate image. It also discusses the importance of organizations assuming documentation as part of managing their work. In particular, we focus on the role of documentation in the "assessment" of the image through the image audit. This first phase is completed with the "management" phase, including development of a series of documents, programs and manuals that require a significant review effort so that in the long term the organization can obtain benefits in terms of added value. The experience and results of the development and implementation of a technical-documentary information management system in the enterprise Nuclenor (Santa María de Garoña power plant) are presented. In order to share knowledge and contribute as much as possible to the dissemination of this kind of system to other enterprises and organizations, we explain the organizational strategy and objectives defined by Nuclenor to carry out this project, and we analyze the functional requirements of the system. From a technical perspective, the development methodology used and the technological platform for the system are presented. Two research groups at the Inter-American School of Library Science, University of Antioquia (Medellín-Colombia), share their experience and lessons learned during the adaptation and use of the Moodle learning management system (LMS) platform as a useful means for information, documentation, and knowledge management in research projects. Moodle was developed as a tool for online course management. This ongoing adaptation has yielded important benefits to the researchers and become a model for the University. This type of technological platform, available to most universities for instructional purposes, has potential to become a key developmental tool for any research project or group. The need to establish a strategic model for developing a corporate intranet is based on the case study of the Ayre Intranet of the City Government of Madrid. The proposed methodology for defining the model includes: a users study, a usability and accessibility study, a business process analysis and organizational model, and the identification of new content. The significant findings during the definition of the model are: the need to delimit the project, the decentralised organizational model, the systematisation of content management models, and the evolution towards document and records management. Different aspects related to television information services are described, with particular attention given to the units responsible for analysing and disseminating audio-visual documentation. The concept of the work object is analysed, settling finally on the concept of moving image, as opposed to the traditional term of audio-visual documentation. The departmental organisation common to national and regional television in Spain is explained. The article concludes with a description of conceptual areas that must provide a structure for tools used for storing and disseminating the documentation in television archives. This article explores the concept of Digital asset management (DAM) and its significance for creating multimedia archives, as well as for exploiting and distributing the intellectual capital accumulated over years of activity by numerous organisations --in the form of images, graphs, illustrations, audio and video files, etc.--. The main characteristics and requirements of DAM solutions are explained and a description is provided of four programs which are among the most highly evaluated and widely adopted internationally. The descriptions are based largely on a review of the documentation obtained from the creators of these applications: Cumulus, Team, MediaBin, and Documentum.
