This contribution is the result of a collective work of members of the RT24 network of the French Sociological Association (AFS) around the concepts proposed by C. Guillaumin. The latter have enabled us to analyze the articulation of social relations and the processes of minoritization at work in our various terrains. Our intention is to contextualize and question the conceptualization of the “majority/minoritized” relationship, by linking it to other concepts and theories, in order to make it operational. Our analysis is structured around three axes that complement one another: to show the symbolic forces of minoritization through the concept of “mental form”, to think about the possible autonomy of minorities in relation to the majority in their ways of self-defining, and to capture the interlocking processes of sexist and racist minoritization at work between racialized people.
