The aim of this study was to evaluate the endometrial inflammatory response of nine Zebu cows inoculated through uterine infusion with 30 mL of inactivated Escherichia coli suspension (1 x 109 UFC/mL) and nine with 30 mL of sterile phosphate buffered saline. Endometrial biopsies were performed before and after the inoculations during estrus, and ten days later in the diestrus phase. Neutrophilic infiltrates were observed in 88.8% of samples from the E. coli group in estrus phase and demonstrated different degrees of endometrial inflammation. This study characterizes a suitable model for studying endometritis in cattle. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The article presents a case study on the identification of dermatosparaxis, a genetic disease, in white doper sheep's in Brazil and mentions the use transmission microscopy to identify the resistance to the collagen fibrils.

The article discusses research that aims to form an indirect enzyme-linked immuno assay, or iELISA, using recombinant proteins rBoP59 and rBP26 as antigens for serological diagnosis of Brucella ovis infection. Study highlights include transformation of expression plasmids into electrocomponent Escherichia coli BL21 by electroporation, standardization of iELISA with rBoP59 or rBP26, and repeatability assessment of the rBP26 iELISA.

The article discusses a case study of a seven-year-old female spayed white Schnauzer presented with cutaneous ulcerated nodular lesions and diagnosed with an immune-mediated hemolytic disease (IMHA). The article evaluates the frequency of three novel polymorphisms of bovine Slc11A1 gene, namely p.D321N, p.P356A, and p.Q542del, genotyped in cows with Brucella (B.) abortus in Brazil and its association to the resistant or susceptible phenotypes to brucellosis in cows. All heifers used in the study were serologically negative for brucellosis before challenge. The results indicate a link between Slc11A1 genotype and actual resistance.

The article discusses the reliability of a method to diagnose Brucella (B.) ovis infection in urine samples of naturally infected rams using serology and polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Results of the study showed that despite low agreement between serology and PCR, the method can be used as a suitable complementary diagnostic tool for identifying B. ovis infection. The method also allows identification of serologically negative rams shedding the organism in the environment.

The article discusses a research study on comparing markers of cell proliferation in transplanted canine transmissible venereal tumor (TVT). Twelve tumor specimens were examined through the argyrophilic nucleolar organizing regions (AgNOR) technique or staining with Schorr or immunolabelling for Ki-67 antigen (MIB1). Results showed confinement of MIB1 labeling in the nucleus while the AgNOR index on proliferation had positive correlation to the mitotic index and MIB1 immunolabeling.

The article describes the case of a one-and-a-half year-old Pug presenting clinical signs of gastro intestinal episodes including constipation, vomiting, diarrhea and distended abdomen. Conducted was an exploratory laparotomy and biopsy of intestines revealing grossly thin intestinal wall with hyperemic areas showing loss of leiomyocytes and degenerative changes characterized by hyalinization and vacuolation. The article discusses chronic intestinal idiopathic pseudo-obstruction (CIIP) in dogs.

The article presents a study of apoptosis in canine transmissible venereal tumors (TVT). TVT was described as a contagious neoplasm of round cells affecting the outer genitalia of adult dogs. The study found that TVT regresses in healthy older animals and the regression is associated with lymphocytes and plasma cells infiltration. Apoptosis controlled cell deletion and performed an opposite role to mitosis which controls production of animal cells. The study aimed to characterize apoptosis aspects like morphological and biochemical.

A virulência das amostras de vacinas lentogênicas La Sota, Ulster e VG-GA do vírus da doença de Newcastle (VDN) foi determinada por análise morfométrica da espessura da traquéia de galinhas (n=12) de 45 dias de idade, livres de anticorpos anti-VDN, vacinadas por via intra-traqueal. As traquéias foram avaliadas 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 e 8 dias pós-vacinação. A amostra La Sota induziu maior espessamento da traquéia no decorrer de todo período experimental. Ao terceiro dia pós-vacinação, período em que as traquéias se apresentaram mais espessas, as amostras La Sota e Ulster não diferiram em sua virulência, sendo ambas mais virulentas do que a amostra VG-GA, induzindo maior espessamento de traquéia e causando lesões histológicas mais severas.
