At this year's International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York City, the Brooklyn, New York-based interior and product design firm twenty2 launched its first collection of hand-screened wallpapers. Created by Krya and Robertson Hartnett, the firm's founding principals, the contemporary patterns are named Maxwell Group, Acco Group, Columbia Heights, and Casa Mila. Each design is hand-screened on vinyl-coated paper or a grass cloth of woven jute and carries an ASTM-E84 Class A fire rating. Inspired by common industrial floor plates and corrugated craft paper, designer Suzanne Tick has created two new vinyl upholstery fabrics for KnollTextiles, as of February 2004. Instead of using traditional steel engraving rolls, which can limit flexibility, Tick discovered a new technology that can easily transfer any pattern onto a synthetic surface using a vacuum draw process. USG Corp.'s first major product launch for 2003, Sheetrock brand Humitek gypsum panels have a noncombustible, moisture-and mold-resistant gypsum core that is encased in moisture-resistant, 100 percent recycled blue-face and brown-back papers.
