A lightweight wideband honeycomb absorber is theoretically and experimentally investigated. The proposed absorber is constructed of aramid paper, which contains carbon fibers to absorb partially the incident electromagnetic wave. Graded silver paste circuits are also printed on aramid paper to improve the impedance matching properties and, thus, achieve wideband absorption performance. An absorber sample was fabricated and measured to verify the design strategies. The designed absorber has a fractional absorption bandwidth of 133% from 3.6–18 GHz, with a thickness of 0.19λL at the lowest frequency. Triboelectric nanogenerators (TENGs) capable of efficiently harvesting various mechanical energies from the environment are an effective way to solve the energy supply problem of wearable electronic devices. A series of flexible and lightweight TENGs with different surface morphologies of "dots"–"lines"–"honeycombs" hierarchical micro-structures are developed using low-cost and easily accessible background paper as a substrate. Polydimethylsiloxane films with dots–lines–honeycombs hierarchical micro-structures are prepared by the spin coating to obtain larger contact areas and, thus, enhance the triboelectric effect. Under the same test conditions, the honeycombs TENG (H-TENG) with complex surface morphology has the largest output performance with an open-circuit voltage of 55 V and a short-circuit current of 2.7 μA, which is 2.1 and 2.5 times that of the flat TENG, respectively. By combining with nylon gloves, the H-TENG can harvest the mechanical energy during hand movement and realize sensing of hand movement patterns through the difference of electrical signals. In addition, this device can power the liquid crystal display screen through a rectifier circuit and capacitor. This simple and efficient TENG device shows great potential in the wearable field. Writing with ink on a paper and the rapid diagnostics of diseases using paper cartridge, despite their remarkable diversities from application perspective, both involve the motion of a liquid from a source on a porous hydrophilic substrate. Here we bring out a generalization in the pertinent dynamics by appealing to the concerned ensemble-averaged transport with reference to the underlying molecular picture. Our results reveal that notwithstanding the associated complexities and diversities, the resultant liquid transport characteristics on a paper matrix, in a wide variety of applications, resemble universal diffusive dynamics. A kind of continuous flexible paper substrate thin film transistors (TFTs) of the ratio of a controllable length to width nickel (Ni) two-dimensionally connected metal-organic frameworks, Ni-TCNQ (TCNQ = 7, 7, 8, 8-tetracyanoquinodimethane), has been prepared skillfully by using all ink-jet printing Ni(NO3)2·6H2O and the TCNQ hydrothermal interface in situ reaction method. The structure analysis of Ni-TCNQ on copper electrodes was revealed by combining transmission electron microscope and powder x-ray diffraction techniques, indicating that it has a lamellar and porous structure. The morphology and structure of the transistor channel are stacked up by nanosheets of 2D lattice of [Ni(C12H4N4)2]n, which is further verified by scanning electron microscope, FT-IR, and x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. When a liquid droplet is placed on a sufficiently hot surface, it will be levitated by the vapor cushion between the droplet and the hot surface due to the Leidenfrost effect. Such Leidenfrost-based levitation can greatly reduce friction and thus offers a promising approach for low-friction devices. In this work, we demonstrated a self-propelled rotational Leidenfrost rotor made of wet paper with asymmetric mass distribution. The rotor has shown the capability of reaching angular velocities of more than 30 rad/s and prolonged the rotation duration through refueling with water. We experimentally investigated the influence of mass repartition and substrate heating temperature on the rotation behavior of the rotor. It was found that both the initial acceleration and the maximum angular velocity increase with the increasing mass ratio of the connector over the evaporator within the rotor and the substrate heating temperature. A theoretical model was proposed to simulate the trend, and the simulated results are in good agreement with the experimental results. The paper-based Leidenfrost rotor provides an alternative way to utilize the Leidenfrost effect for exploring self-propelled movement and relevant applications such as surface cleaning and rotary heat engines. Accurate quantum efficiency measurement not only provides crucial information for the photovoltaic cell industry but also supports experiments aimed at directly detecting dark matter and elastic neutrino interactions. The dark matter direct searches paradigm has recently expanded to include particles with masses below 1 , MeV / c 2 , where the expected signal in an electron–recoil interaction is approximately in the eV range, just above the energy gap for silicon and germanium. A robust calibration method for ionization signals in this lower energy region is essential. This paper presents a method for measuring quantum efficiency and yield (q/E) in semiconductors using phonon-mediated calorimetry. The Neganov–Trofimov–Luke phonon amplification method in low-temperature semiconductor crystals has been employed to indirectly measure ionization down to single-electron accuracy. Specifically, at zero bias, the phonon readout directly quantifies the total energy deposited within the detector, independent of the ionization yield. This eliminates a significant source of systematic uncertainty in quantum efficiency estimates associated with total energy uncertainty. Due to their high thermal conductivity, stability, light weight, and low cost, graphite products are widely used as thermally conductive materials in current electronic devices and are promising materials for future flexible electronics. However, the intrinsic high rough surface of graphite severely impedes the fabrication of thermal transistors based on graphite products. On the other hand, most of the flexible thermal transistors reported to date are based on polymer substrates, whose thermal conductivities are extremely low for thermal sensing. To address these issues herein, a flexible commercial graphite paper with high thermal conductivity was used as both the substrate and the back gate of thermal transistors. Fluorinated polyimide was also synthesized as a high performance dielectric material and was skillfully blade-coated on a flexible graphite paper to reduce the surface roughness. As a result, the as-fabricated flexible device exhibits extremely low hysteresis, wide operating temperature range (20–100 °C), high stability, and temperature sensing performance. Moreover, the as-fabricated pentacene device reached the mobility of 0.146 cm2 V−1 s−1, which is highly competitive among the reported flexible organic thermal transistors. We report the preparation of large-area graphite papers with thicknesses from 100 µm to more than 1 mm, by the reduction and graphitization of graphite oxide at elevated temperatures. The papers can be produced on a size of 20 x 20 cm² and have a low mass density. X-ray diffraction and Raman characterization show that the stacking of graphitic layers in the papers follows the Bernal stacking, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy indicates a carbon purity of above 98 at. % in the papers. The graphite papers have an electrical conductivity of 2533-4996 S/m and a thermal conductivity of 42-149W/mK, depending on the thickness. When a power input of above 10W is applied on the paper with a thickness of 98 µm, incandescence is observed, corresponding to a temperature of higher than 1000 °C, which is increased with the input power. Paper-based microfluidics and sensors have attracted great attention. Although a large number of paper-based devices have been developed, surprisingly there are only a few studies investigating paper actuators. To fulfill the requirements for the integration of both sensors and actuators into paper, this work presents an unprecedented platform which utilizes ferromagnetic particles for actuation and graphite for motion monitoring. The use of the integrated mechanical sensing element eliminates the reliance on image processing for motion detection and also allows real-time measurements of the dynamic response in paper-based actuators. Macroscopic graphene paper is fabricated by an electrospray deposition approach, and the microstructure can be controlled from highly porous to highly compact geometries by varying deposition parameters including graphene colloid concentration and deposition rate. Free-standing graphene films can be separated from substrates via a simple water exfoliation method in which the surface properties of graphene films and substrates control film exfoliation. Specifically, water exfoliation can be achieved when the contact angle of substrates is 64° or below. Thermal and electrical conductivities of the macroscopic graphene paper upon thermal annealing are measured, enabling the establishment of the process-microstructure-property correlation beneficial for further development and property manipulation of graphene-based materials. Extensive work has been done in order to determine the bulk elastic modulus of isotropic samples from force curves acquired with atomic force microscopy. However, new challenges are encountered given the development of new materials constructed of one-dimensional anisotropic building blocks, such as carbon nanostructured paper. In the present work, we establish a reliable framework to correlate the elastic modulus values obtained by amplitude modulation atomic force microscope force curves, a nanoscopic technique, with that determined by traditional macroscopic tensile testing. In order to do so, several techniques involving image processing, statistical analysis, and simulations are used to find the appropriate path to understand how macroscopic properties arise from anisotropic nanoscale components, and ultimately, being able to calculate the value of bulk elastic modulus. We present a method for improving the thermal stability of insulation paper cellulose. A polysiloxane was grafted to the hydroxyl group connected to the C6 atom in the cellulose chain. The effects of the mass fraction of polysiloxane on the mechanical properties and glass-transition temperatures of model cellulose samples modified by polysiloxane grafting were investigated using molecular dynamics simulations. The results show that for four models, with polysiloxane mass fractions of 0%, 3.3%, 6.5%, and 12.2%, the best chain performance was achieved using a mass fraction of 6.5%. The glass-transition temperature of the modified cellulose with a 6.5% mass fraction of polysiloxane was 48K higher than that of unmodified cellulose, which shows that modification improved the thermal stability of the cellulose. Rapid and even spreading of complex fluids over a large area on substrates like paper is required for chemical and biological sensing applications. Non-Newtonian flow behavior and the presence of multi-phase components pose a significant challenge to uniform flow in porous media. Specifically in the case of blood, for biosensing applications, fast spread on a large area is required to avoid coagulation and non-uniform component spread. In this work, we have developed a filter paper-based device to resolve this spreading challenge. We sandwich the filter paper between a matrix of nanofibrous membrane backed by polyethylene terephthalate (PET) sheets, forming a multi-scale porous network: one within the filter paper and the other between the PET sheet and the filter paper. By doing so, we decrease the overall resistance to flow while maintaining the same capillary suction pressure to obtain a quick, uniform spread of dyed liquids, milk solutions, and whole blood. The device design and concepts used here can be used in paper microfluidic applications and to develop devices for dried blood spot analysis, which utilize this fast flow while maintaining even spreading over a large area. We report results of studies relating to the fabrication of a flexible, disposable, and label free biosensing platform for detection of the cancer biomarker (carcinoembryonic antigen, CEA). Polyaniline (PANI) has been electrochemically deposited over gold sputtered paper (Au@paper) for covalent immobilization of monoclonal carcinoembryonic antibodies (anti-CEA). The bovine serum albumin (BSA) has been used for blocking nonspecific binding sites at the anti-CEA conjugated PANI/Au@Paper. The PANI/Au@Paper, anti-CEA/PANI/Au@Paper, and BSA/anti-CEA/ PANI/Au@Paper platforms have been characterized using scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transmission infrared spectroscopy, chronoamperometry, and electrochemical impedance techniques. The results of the electrochemical response studies indicate that this BSA/ anti-CEA/PANI/Au@paper electrode has sensitivity of 13.9 µA ng–1 ml cm2, shelf life of 22 days, and can be used to estimate CEA in the range of 2–20 ng ml–1. We report the rapid prototyping of passive electrical components (resistors and capacitors) on plain paper by an additive and parallel technology consisting of supersonic cluster beam deposition (SCBD) coupled with shadow mask printing. Cluster-assembled films have a growth mechanism substantially different from that of atom-assembled ones providing the possibility of a fine tuning of their electrical conduction properties around the percolative conduction threshold. Exploiting the precise control on cluster beam intensity and shape typical of SCBD, we produced, in a one-step process, batches of resistors with resistance values spanning a range of two orders of magnitude. Parallel plate capacitors with paper as the dielectric medium were also produced with capacitance in the range of tens of picofarads. Compared to standard deposition technologies, SCBD allows for a very efficient use of raw materials and the rapid production of components with different shape and dimensions while controlling independently the electrical characteristics. Discrete electrical components produced by SCBD are very robust against deformation and bending, and they can be easily assembled to build circuits with desired characteristics. The availability of large batches of these components enables the rapid and cheap prototyping and integration of electrical components on paper as building blocks of more complex systems. Solution-derived poly(vinylidene fluoride trifluoroethylene) (P(VDF-TrFE)) piezoelectric thin films on cellulose paper substrates were prepared as flexible power generators for wearable device applications. Optimization of appropriate annealing and cooling sequences of the co-polymer films resulted in the formation of dense and uniform microstructures exhibiting a well-developed b-phase. A maximum open-circuit voltage of 1.5V was generated from the periodic bending and releasing of the paper power generator at approximately 1 Hz. To demonstrate the wearable applications, P(VDF-TrFE) piezoelectric film-based paper power generators were directly attached on the back of a human hand, and they generated a maximum output open-circuit voltage of 0.4V at low bending frequencies of 0.25 Hz. Good open-circuit voltage performance at low frequencies makes P(VDF-TrFE) piezoelectric thin films on paper substrates a strong candidate for future selfpowered wearable devices. Printing electronics has led to application areas which were formerly impossible with conventional electronic processes. Solutions are used as inks on top of large areas at room temperatures, allowing the production of fully flexible circuitry. Commonly, research in these inks have focused on organic and metal-oxide ink materials due to their printability, while these materials lack in the electronic performance when compared to silicon electronics. Silicon electronics, on the other hand, has only recently found their way in solution processes. Printing of cyclopentasilane as the silicon ink has been conducted and devices with far superior electric performance have been made when compared to other ink materials. A thermal annealing step of this material, however, was necessary, which prevented its usage on inexpensive substrates with a limited thermal budget. In this work, we introduce a method that allows polycrystalline silicon (poly-Si) production directly from the same liquid silicon ink using excimer laser irradiation. In this way, poly-Si could be formed directly on top of paper even with a single laser pulse. Using this method, poly-Si transistors were created at a maximum temperature of only 150 °C. This method allows silicon device formation on inexpensive, temperature sensitive substrates such as polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene naphthalate or paper, which leads to applications that require low-cost but high-speed electronics. This Letter investigates the effect of barrier regulation by changing compliance current (CC) on resistance switching (RS) modes. The device exhibits bipolar resistive switching (BRS) with low CCs (1, 3, 7, and 12 mA) and complementary resistive switching (CRS) without CC. By analyzing the current conduction mechanism, the variation law of Schottky barrier height under different CCs is studied, and the different RS modes are explained by the degree of nitrogen enrichment in the non-inert electrode. This paper further explores the correlation between BRS and CRS. Endurance tests in different modes show that the device is expected to achieve a multi-mode RS design. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper describes different growth modes of AlN layers on micro-cone patterned c-sapphire substrates (μ-PSSs) using plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy. Ordered arrays of AlN nanoprisms and microrods were selectively grown on the tips of μ-PSS's microcones according to a bottom-up formation mechanism using sequential migration enhanced and metal-modulated epitaxy (MME) under metal-rich growth conditions at 820 °C. Transmission electron microscopy revealed structurally perfect AlN regions above the tips of the μ-PSSs, which initiate as inverted nanopyramids with {10 11 ¯ } side faces, evolving into hexagonal nanoprisms with orientations of {1 1 ¯ 00} and (0001) for side and top surfaces, respectively. The diameter and height of these ordered hexagonal nanoprisms, which have a 60% probability of nucleating, were about 1 μm. Long-term MME growth of these nanoprisms in both vertical and lateral directions led to the formation of AlN(0001) microrods with a maximum possible diameter of two micrometers and a height of up to 6 μm. Atomic force microscopy revealed a mixed step-flow and 2D nucleation growth mechanism for the flat tops of these AlN nanoprisms and microrods with an average surface roughness of 1–2 monolayers. Micro-Raman spectroscopy demonstrated narrow E2 (high) linewidths of 3.8 and 4.2 cm−1 for essentially stress-free AlN nanoprisms and microrods, respectively. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A phase transformation model based on magnetization is proposed in this paper, which accurately tracks the change in the phase transformation volume fraction with time/temperature f-T/t by analyzing phase transformation magnetization curves under a magnetic field. This allows for the determination of kinetic parameters related to the nucleation and growth processes such as the phase transformation rate df/dt-T/t and Avrami exponent n, enabling quantitative analysis of phase transformation kinetics under magnetic field effects. Additionally, the phase transformation magnetization under a magnetic field can be accurately fitted by combining the volume fraction calculation model with the Johnson–Mehl–Avrami equation, thus also obtaining the kinetics parameters. The aforementioned two models are applied to study the isothermal and isokinetic transformations of austenite (γ) to ferrite (α) in Fe-1 wt. %Cu alloys, demonstrating the effects of external conditions through variations in kinetic parameters. In recent years, the application of positron emission tomography (PET) for the dose range verification of proton therapy has been proposed. However, the positron distribution is determined by the nuclear reaction cross section; hence, PET may not accurately reflect the dose range primarily influenced by ionization. Consequently, a proton dose range verification system based on scattered proton measurements has been suggested owing to the similarity in the reaction cross section between Rutherford scattering and ionization. While previous investigations have only verified the feasibility of dose range estimation through simple simulations, the objective of this study is to demonstrate this feasibility through experimental investigation. In this paper, we established an experimental framework for capturing scattered protons and introduced an algorithm that compares measured signal patterns with a reference database to estimate the dose range. A therapeutic beam was irradiated onto the abdominal region of a human phantom, and scattered protons were measured using scintillation detectors placed on the phantom surface. Consequently, the dose range was estimated with error margins of 4.22 ± 3.68 and 0.60 ± 1.03 mm along the beam axis and perpendicular directions to the Bragg peak, respectively. While providing the same level of Bragg peak positioning accuracy as conventional methods, our system features small size, cost-effectiveness, and system simplicity. One notable limitation of our method is the challenge in achieving precise detector positioning, which is crucial for accurate dose range estimation. In recent years, there has been a dramatically increasing demand for high-performance narrow-linewidth lasers for optical atomic clock and quantum applications. In this paper, we report on a single-frequency distributed Bragg reflector fiber laser operating at 871 nm that can be used to produce a 435.5 nm narrow-linewidth laser for a Yb+ clock via second-harmonic generation. Linearly polarized single-longitudinal-mode laser output with a power of 6.7 mW and a polarization extinction ratio of 29 dB was obtained by using a 3-cm long 1 wt. % neodymium (Nd3+)-doped phosphate fiber as the gain fiber. Lateral-excited bulk acoustic wave resonators (XBARs) have a large electromechanical coupling coefficient and low mechanical loss. However, XBARs have not yet been commercialized in 5G communications due to spurious modes, high TCF, and low-power handling. This paper presents a lateral-excited bulk acoustic wave resonator with piston mode electrodes named PLBAR. Compared to the conventional interdigital transducer structure, the PLBAR suppresses the transverse waves due to the irregular boundary caused by piston mode electrodes. Higher order modes are also to some extent suppressed by increasing in metallization rate. The fabricated PLBAR achieves a high K eff 2 of 26.43% at 5.2 GHz using a 350 nm Z-cut lithium niobate on insulator substrate, effectively suppressing the transversal mode. Additionally, the power durability exceeds +14 dBm due to the increased metallization of the piston mode electrodes. The measured temperature coefficient of PLBAR is −42.55 ppm/°C. The PLBAR addresses some of the limitations of the XBARs and demonstrates significant improvements in performance without requiring additional fabrication steps, making it a promising solution for RF resonators in 5G communication systems. Intrinsic strong coupling between excitons and anapole mode in self-hybridizing transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) nanostructures has recently attracted much attention for their capability of improving exciton–anapole interactions as a consequence of the nonradiative feature of anapole mode and the excellent mode overlap in the self-hybridizing geometry. Here, we propose a strategy for further enhancing exciton–anapole coupling. By embedding Au dimers as plasmonic components in slotted bulk WS2 nanodisks, a plasmon-induced electric field strength enhancement over nearly 140 times is achieved compared to that of the bulk WS2 nanodisk, boosting the strong exciton–anapole hybridization with greatly enhanced Rabi splitting up to 532 meV. Importantly, we demonstrate not only the effect of the plasmon mode on the initial Rabi phase of the anapole mode but also the great reduction of the ultrafast energy transfer time by the constructed full-quantum model. The plasmon-assisted hybrid system proposed in this paper provides a promising approach for enhancing strong light–matter interactions and may pave the way for the development of high-performance TMD-based photonic devices. Mode decomposition (MD) provides profound evidence to reveal the internal modal transmission mechanism. However, the indelible noise has always been the main stubborn hindrance in practical MD. In the complex superposition case with a large number of modes, the traditional MD is not capable enough to distinguish the real modal intensity and the annoying noise, sustaining an unacceptable accuracy and fluctuation. This paper proposes a radial intensity-orientated MD (RIO-MD) method with reliable noise elimination. Our approach focuses on the inherent modal radial features in Polar coordinates, getting rid of the traditional two-dimensional image processing in Cartesian ones. The RIO-MD introduces the inherent radial intensity relationship into MD for better extracting mode coefficients. Based on the expectable real radial modal intensity, the RIO-MD enables to recognize and extraction of the three kinds of stubborn noise, including interference pattern noise, device noise, and random noise. The RIO-MD works well in mode decomposition case. The values of correlation coefficients (C) between the experimental and reconstructed image are higher than 93%. The mean square error (MSE) is lower than 3 × 10−3. Both the C and MSE keep stable, with the standard deviation 30 times lower than the other widely used methods, demonstrating the high-robustness of the RIO-MD. The fabrication of surface nanoscale axial photonics (SNAP) microresonators, utilizing the approach of electric arc discharge (EAD), is accomplished, achieving a precision at the angstrom level. This paper thoroughly investigates the effects that discharge intensity and discharge duration have on SNAP microresonators, respectively, through the manipulation of relevant discharge parameters. The results indicate that, within a specified range of discharge intensity, a linear relationship is observed between the effective radius variation (ERV) and the discharge intensity, characterized by a slope of 0.325 nm/intensity unit. As the discharge duration is extended, the ERV gradually increases, eventually reaching a saturation value, which is inherently determined by the discharge intensity. Additionally, as the discharge intensity (or time) continues to increase, a "convex–concave–convex" shape is observed on the fiber, providing a method for fabricating bat microresonators. These discoveries derived from our study contribute toward providing a strong foundation for the progressive enhancement and refinement of EAD-based SNAP fabrication techniques. FeSb2 is known as a potential low-temperature thermoelectric material with the record-high power factor (PF) originating from the huge phonon drag thermopower (Sg). However, the Sg contribution to PF has been observed only at very low temperatures (T) < 40 K. In this paper, we found that the Sg persists at much higher T up to 240 K and enhances PF in FeSb2 thin films deposited on SrTiO3 single crystals. The FeSb2 films showed phonon drag Sg peak at T ∼ 60 K, and the Sg peak value was largely enhanced from 56 to 208 μV/K by varying film thicknesses from 10 to 100 nm. Due to thickness-dependent Sg contribution, the maximum PF = 31.3 μW/(cm K2) was obtained for a 37-nm thick film. In addition, the onset temperature, where Sg starts to appear, can be largely increased due presumably to the enhanced electron–phonon interaction by phonon leakage from the SrTiO3 substrate to the thin FeSb2 layer. Heterostructuring with an oxide would be an effective approach to enhance the phonon drag effect to increase PF in higher T regions for future thermoelectric cooling and energy conversion devices. Silicon nanowires (SiNWs) have attracted much attention owing to their potential applications in electronics and photonics, while remaining as a cost-effective material platform. Key material properties in engineering SiNWs for different applications include their length, density, and presence of oxides or other chemicals on the surface. However, monitoring these properties is challenging, as scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy (AFM), which directly image the wires, require destructive cleaving of the sample. This paper uses polarized, variable-angle Fourier Transform IR reflectance spectroscopy as a nondestructive technique to characterize the areal density and length of metal-assisted chemically etched SiNW arrays. In addition to the ability to characterize "as-etched" wires, we show that IR spectroscopy can also measure few-nanometer thick layers of aluminum oxide (AlOx) grown radially around the length of the SiNWs utilizing atomic layer deposition. Despite sample inhomogeneities, an effective medium theory (EMT) model can determine the length and density of the NWs for a range of lengths between 3 and 14 μm. The EMT can also reproduce the experimentally measured vibrational bands for coated NWs, demonstrating that IR spectroscopy can also evaluate the presence of molecular contaminants on the wires. In recent years, organic–inorganic hybrid perovskite materials have garnered extensive attention from scholars. Given its high absorption coefficient, carrier mobility, and diffusion length, it is widely studied for applications in various optoelectronic devices, such as solar cells, photodetectors, field-effect transistors, and light emitting diodes. Among them, the interfacial charge transfer process is a key factor influencing the performance of devices using perovskite materials. The charge transfer (CT) at the interface is typically detected via Raman spectroscopy. There are three types of related CT processes, namely, the interfacial ground state charge transfer, the photoinduced charge transfer resonance, and the electronic excitation resonance within the molecule itself. Among these factors, electronic excitation resonance manifests as an exciton resonance within the perovskite structure, providing energy for nearby charge transfer, thereby promoting charge transfer and enhancing Raman signals. Therefore, enhancing exciton resonance within the perovskite structure plays a crucial role in optoelectronic devices. This paper aimed to study the mechanism of oxygen plasma passivation of interstitial iodine defects and its enhancement effect on the Raman of perovskite substrates. Typically, interstitial iodine defects induce electron–hole recombination. In the process of oxygen plasma treatment, interstitial iodine is converted into pentavalent iodine, which can effectively fill related defects, inhibit electron–hole recombination, and prolong exciton lifetime, thereby promoting charge transfer and enhancing Raman intensity. This research paper presents systematic micromagnetic modeling of dynamic spin solitons carried by perpendicular magnetization component on a topologically preserved chiral sequence of uniform 360° in-plane domain walls with fixed boundaries in a strip. The long, narrow strip of a soft, magnetic thin film has a repeated in-plane magnetization pattern such that the local magnetization will rotate uniformly in a single chirality, either clockwise or counterclockwise, when moving along the strip in one direction at a constant speed. As spins in an excited soliton precess around its local magnetization field, the exchange interaction with the underlying chiral magnetization configuration yields a linear soliton motion with the direction determined by the handedness of precession and the underlying magnetization chirality. Flexible organic light-emitting diode display devices fabricated on polyimide (PI) substrates have more obvious residual image problems due to the abnormal threshold-voltage (Vth) shifts of a thin film transistor (TFT). In this paper, the Vth shift of TFT fabricated on a PI substrate was analyzed. We explained the worse bias stability and worse recovery of TFT with a PI substrate compared with TFT with a glass substrate, by an interlayer charging effect (Maxwell–Wagner effect) and a technology computer-aided design (Silvaco). When bias stress was applied for a long time, the interface between the PI substrate and the buffer layer will have a charging effect under the action of an electric field, and the charging charge will react on the channel and hinder the formation of the channel. We found that there are differences in the scale of charge under different voltage stress conditions, and this will result in different Vth shifts of driving TFTs for displays units. Emerging nano-kirigami/origami technology enables the flexible transformations of 2D planar patterns into exquisite 3D structures in situ and has aroused great interest in the areas of nanophotonics and optoelectronics. This paper briefly reviews some milestone research and breakthrough progresses in nano-kirigami/origami from the aspects of stimuli approaches and application directions. Versatile stimuli for kirigami/origami, including capillary force, residual stress, mechanical force, and irradiation-induced stress, are introduced in the micro/nanoscale region. Appealing optical applications and reconfigurable schemes of nano-kirigami/origami structures are summarized, offering effective routes to realize tunable nanophotonic and optoelectronic devices. In this paper, we propose a broadband tunable acoustic matching layer (BTAML) comprising an array of piezoelectric elements with non-uniform gradient shunt circuits (NGSCs). The effective impedance of the BTAML can be controlled in real time by regulating the parameters of NGSCs. The theoretical results demonstrate that BTAML is capable of adjusting impedance from 1.5 to 20 MRayl and has a broad bandwidth compared with the traditional matching layer. Furthermore, we experimentally verified the acoustic transmission property of the BTAML, and good agreement was achieved with numerical simulations. Spintronics devices have been a research hotspot due to their rich theoretical and application value. The widebandgap semiconductor β-Ga2O3 has excellent application potential in spintronics due to the controllability of its electron behavior via ultraviolet light. This paper employs first-principles calculations and the Wenzel–Kramers–Brillouin (WKB) approximation to comprehensively investigate spin transport based on magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) comprising β-Ga2O3 nanosheets. The magnetic moment of the ferromagnetic layer in β-Ga2O3 MTJs is found to be positively correlated with tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR). Interestingly, layer-number parity-dependent oscillation of TMR in β-Ga2O3 MTJs is observed, which is explained by the non-equilibrium Green function and the WKB approximation. TMR reaches a maximum of 1077% at five layers, and bias-dependent stability is observed in the monolayer model under biases of 0–20 mV. The photogalvanic effect has been demonstrated to be an effective method to generate pure spin current. However, obtaining robust pure spin current remains a big challenge as most of the photo-induced pure spin current is dependent on the light polarization/phase angle, photon energies, or the spin alignment of electrodes. In this paper, we present a scheme for obtaining robust pure spin current in zigzag graphene–graphane superlattices (ZGSLs). Through systemic first-principles calculations, we demonstrate that robust generation of pure spin current can occur in ZGSLs with varying widths due to the centrosymmetry of the system's geometric structure and the antiferromagnetic magnetic features. Moreover, the generation of pure spin current does not depend on the photon energy or the polarization/phase angles for both linearly and elliptically polarized light, exhibiting very strong robustness. Our study suggests that ZGSLs could be highly promising candidates for practically realizing pure spin current in spintronics experiments, which presents an avenue for using graphene and its derivatives in advanced electronic devices. Furthermore, considering the experimental advancements in graphene and graphene-like materials, our investigation presents a universally applicable methodology for the generation of robust pure spin currents within low-dimensional graphene-like systems. In this paper, we have measured the magneto-optical spin Hall effect influenced by an arbitrary oriented magnetic field using CeDyAl thin films on Gd3Ga5O12 (GGG) substrates as reflective materials. Plots of the variation of the magneto-optic spin Hall effect (MOPSHE) with magnetic field strength, the hysteresis line, in three different unit-direction magnetic fields are simulated and experimentally measured. The comparison of the simulation results with the experiments allows the method of weak measurement to determine the MOPSHE under the influence of the magnetic field to be validated. Coherent optical phonon (COP) and coherent acoustic phonon (CAP) play vital roles in probing ultrafast dynamics across various materials and systems. Their applications range from metamaterial diagnosis to manipulating ferroelectric polarization and self-trapping of carriers in perovskites. However, the inherently small signals associated with COP and CAP pose challenges in extracting valuable information. In this paper, we address this challenge by presenting a numerical differential method for signal amplification and deduction of phonon dephasing time. There is still a gap in understanding phonon scattering by geometrical defects at the nanoscale, and it remains a significant challenge for heat transfer management in nanoscale devices and systems. In this study, we aim to explore the characteristics of phonon scattering by a single pore to gain insights into thermal transport in nanostructures. The paper outlines a methodology for assessing the spatial distribution of the magnitude of the radial, azimuthal, and polar components of the velocity of scattered phonons by a spherical pore. We demonstrated that the size parameter, commonly employed in electromagnetic wave scattering theory, is vital in determining the scattering regime. Specifically, we show that the calculated scattering efficiency has the same pattern as that commonly obtained in classical wave scattering theory. However, we found that crystallographic directions are pivotal in shaping the scattering patterns, especially in the regions where scattering patterns are defined by the Mie resonances. Resistive Random Access Memory (ReRAM) is considered to be a suitable candidate for future memories due to its low operating voltage, fast access speed, and the potential to be scaled down to nanometer range for ultra-high-density storage. In addition, its ability to retain multi-level resistance states makes it suitable for neuromorphic computing applications. In this paper, we report the resistive switching performance of Cu/MgO/Pt ReRAM. Repetitive resistive switching transitions with low switching voltages (around 1 V), 102 storage windows, and multi-level memory capabilities have been obtained. Biological synaptic plasticity behavior, such as long-duration potentiation/depression and paired-pulse facilitation, has been realized by the Cu/MgO/Pt ReRAM. The simulation of convolutional neural network for handwritten digit recognition is carried out to evaluate its potential application in neuromorphic systems. Finally, the conduction mechanism of the device is studied, and a resistive switching model based on Cu conducting filaments is proposed according to the dependence of I–V results on temperature and electrode size as well as the element distribution in the device. This paper presents a systematic study of the charge transport behavior of heavily doped n-type Ge layers with As and Sb. A nonequilibrium method ion implantation followed by milliseconds flash lamp annealing is applied to synthesize the n++ Ge layers (Ge:As and Ge:Sb). The resulting materials contain free electrons with a density above 3 × 1019 cm−3 and mobility more than 220 cm2/(V s). Quantum corrections to the conductance in a magnetic field are observed at low temperatures. Weak localization persists up to 30 K in Ge:Sb, while only up to 10 K in Ge:As. Using the Hikami–Larkin–Nagaoka model to fit the magnetoconductance data, we obtain the phase coherence length l ϕ of the hyperdoped Ge samples in the range of 70–163 nm. Extensive work has been done in order to determine the bulk elastic modulus of isotropic samples from force curves acquired with atomic force microscopy. However, new challenges are encountered given the development of new materials constructed of one-dimensional anisotropic building blocks, such as carbon nanostructured paper. In the present work, we establish a reliable framework to correlate the elastic modulus values obtained by amplitude modulation atomic force microscope force curves, a nanoscopic technique, with that determined by traditional macroscopic tensile testing. In order to do so, several techniques involving image processing, statistical analysis, and simulations are used to find the appropriate path to understand how macroscopic properties arise from anisotropic nanoscale components, and ultimately, being able to calculate the value of bulk elastic modulus. Presently, we contemplate the merger of paper and electronics in different forms. There is a great desire to further explore this twinning of the information displaying features of printed papers and electronic inks. Here, we report a full-color paperboard display technology comprised of thermochromic and static inks combined with a patterned heater foil. Black and full-color thermochromic ink dots were screen-printed adjacent to, and on top of, static ink dots using a zero-angle mesh and template pattern orientation. The pencil-drawn sensor is expected to enable a simple, low-cost, and reproducible paper-based sensor platform for widely deployed wireless environmental monitoring of NO2. Herein, we demonstrated a rapid prototyping of chemiresistor-type NO2 sensor by mechanical abrasion of an 8B pencil to form a stripe of uniform graphitic coating on printed silver interdigitated electrodes (IDEs). Single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) are promising materials as active channels for flexible transistors owing to their excellent electrical and mechanical properties. However, flexible SWCNT transistors have never been realized on paper substrates, which are widely used, inexpensive, and recyclable. In this study, we fabricated SWCNT thin-film transistors on photo paper substrates. The devices exhibited a high on/off current ratio of more than 106 and a field-effect mobility of approximately 3cm²/V·s. In-situ sputtering ZnO films on graphene oxide (GO) paper are used to fabricate graphene based ZnO films. Crystal structure and surface chemical states are investigated. Results indicated that GO paper can be effectively deoxygenated by in-situ sputtering ZnO on them without adding any reducing agent. Based on the principle of radio frequency magnetron sputtering, we propose that during magnetron sputtering process, plasma streams contain large numbers of electrons. These electrons not only collide with argon atoms to produce secondary electrons but also they are accelerated to bombard the substrates (GO paper) resulting in effective deoxygenation of oxygen-containing functional groups. Three-color electrowetting (EW) reflective display devices have been achieved using a vertical stack structure with colored oils. Fundamental properties (interface tension and geometry) of the EW process were investigated. Arrays of ∼1000–2000 pixels were constructed with pixel sizes of 200×600 and 300×900 μm2. Each color layer can be switched independently. Open (oil-free) area fraction of ∼80% in each cell is achieved at ∼10–12 V. Switch-on times range from 5 to 15 ms, suitable for video content display. The thermal conductivities of graphene oxide paper (GOP) and the alkaline earth metal ions (Mg2+, Ca2+) modified analogues, prepared by a facile vacuum filtration method, were measured by a laser flash method. The thermal conductivities of GOP, Mg-modified GOP, and Ca-modified GOP are 3.91 W/(m × K), 32.05 W/(m × K), and 61.38 W/(m × K), respectively, which indicate the modification of GOP with metal ions has resulted in significant enhancement in thermal conduction properties compared with unmodified GOP. The crosslink between graphene oxide sheet and metal ions, the neat stacking of graphene oxide sheets in modified GOP, together with the intercalation of metal ions into the gallery spaces between the graphene oxide sheet basal planes, result in a decrease of thermal resistance of the boundary and an increase of contact surface, thus increases the thermal conductivity of modified graphene oxide paper. The goal of this work is to investigate the porosity of old paper with foxings. Initially, paper samples are characterized using the conventional absorption and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopies. Optoacoustic method based on laser excitation of short ultrasound transients is used for porosity measurements. The paper porosity is calculated using the theory of two-component mixture with the experimentally determined sound speeds in paper samples saturated with liquids. This paper presents a flexible solid-state supercapacitor of high energy density. The electrodes of the supercapacitor are made of porous and absorbent cotton paper coated with single-wall carbon nanotubes. To ensure all solid-state configuration, a solid-state polymer-based electrolyte (poly (vinyl alcohol)/phosphoric acid) is used. The as-fabricated supercapacitor can be charged to over 3 V. It has high specific capacitance and high energy density of 115.8301 F/g carbon and 48.8587 Wh/kg carbon. Its performance is comparable to that of commercial supercapacitors, which need to utilize liquid electrolytes. Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy was observed in Pt/Co/Pt trilayers prepared on three kinds of paper substrates with conspicuous difference of roughness by sputtering. Anomalous Hall effect exhibits well magnetic transport properties for partial samples. The trends of Hall resistivity over longitudinal resistivity (ρAH/ρxx) versus qxx are bending instead of a traditional linear relationship for thick single-layer Co films. Further, study reveals that this behavior strongly depends on ratios among contributions from the skew scattering induced by residual resistance and phonons, the side jump and the intrinsic parts in anomalous Hall effect. A 3D map of correlation coefficients (R) of ρAH/ρxx and qxx shows the ratios locate at a critical and ultra-narrow area for our trilayers. This study may throw new light on the understanding of anomalous Hall effect as well as lead to an economical and practical method to fabricate Hall devices on flexible substrates.
