In this article, the author, Sheldon Rosenthal, explains his philosophy regarding art and how he works. He states that he is self-taught, and admits that though there is a lot of room for improvement, he is pleased with the style he has achieved, and has no concern about trends, only what he finds pleasing. He usually begins by taking as many thumbnail sketches of his subject, as well as photographs before deciding what to paint. The tools he uses include gauze pads, acrylics and sandpaper. He claims that he works only from memory to express emotion.
