The development of the latest generation of Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescopes (IACTs) over recent decades has led to the discovery of new extreme astrophysical phenomena in the very-high-energy (VHE, E > 100 GeV) gamma-ray regime. Time-domain and multi-messenger astronomy are inevitably connected to the physics of transient VHE emitters, which show unexpected (and mostly unpredictable) flaring or exploding episodes at different timescales. These transients often share the physical processes responsible for the production of the gamma-ray emission, through cosmic-ray acceleration, magnetic reconnection, jet production and/or outflows, and shocks interactions. We investigate nonclassical properties of a state generated by the interaction of a three-level atom with a quantized cavity field and an external classical driving field. In this study, the fields being degenerate in frequency, are highly detuned from the atom. The atom interacts with the quantized field in a dispersive manner. The experimental set-up involves a three-level atom passing through a cavity and interacting dispersively with the cavity field mode. Simultaneously, the atom interacts with an external classical field that is in resonance with the cavity field. The three-level atom can enter the cavity in one of the bare states $\ket{e}$, $\ket{f}$ or $\ket{g}$ or in a superposition of two of these states. In this paper, we consider superposition of $\ket{e}$ and $\ket{f}$. In our analysis, we focus on the statistical properties of the cavity field after interacting with the atom. The state vector $|\psi(t)\rangle$ describes the entire atom-field system but we analyze the properties of the cavity field independently neglecting the atomic component of the system. For this the atom part is traced out from $|\psi(t)\rangle$ to acquire the cavity field state only, denoted by $\ket{\psi_{ f}(t)}$. We evaluate different nonclassical measures including photon number distribution, Mandel's $Q_M$ parameter, squeezing properties $S_x$ and $S_p$, Wigner distribution, $Q_f$ function, second-order correlation function $g^2(0)$ etc. for the obtained cavity field state., Comment: 16 pages, 8 figures, Accepted in Int. Liquid metal catalysts (LMCats), primarily molten copper, have demonstrated their efficiency in the chemical vapour deposition (CVD) approach for synthesising high-quality, large-area graphene. However, their high melting temperatures limit broader applications. Reducing the temperature of graphene production on LMCats would lead to a more efficient and cost-effective process. Here, we investigated the effects of alloying copper with a low-melting temperature metal on graphene growth in real-time. We examined a set of liquid copper-gallium alloy systems using two complementary in situ techniques: radiation-mode optical microscopy and synchrotron X-ray reflectivity (XRR). Microscopy observations revealed reduced catalytic activity and graphene quality degradation in compositions with gallium domination. The XRR confirmed the formation of single-layer graphene on alloys with up to 60 wt% of gallium. Additionally, we detected a systematic increase in adsorption height on the alloys' surface, suggesting a weaker graphene adhesion on gallium. These findings propose a trade-off between layer quality and production cost reduction is feasible. Our results offer insights into the CVD synthesis of graphene on bimetallic liquid surfaces and underscore the potential of gallium-copper alloys for enabling the direct transfer of graphene from a liquid substrate, thereby addressing the limitations imposed by high melting temperatures of conventional LMCats.

The classical theory of plane projective geometry is examined constructively, using both synthetic and analytic methods. The topics include Desargues's Theorem, harmonic conjugates, projectivities, involutions, conics, Pascal's Theorem, poles and polars. The axioms used for the synthetic treatment are constructive versions of the traditional axioms. The analytic construction is used to verify the consistency of the axioms; it is based on the usual model in three-dimensional Euclidean space, using only constructive properties of the real numbers. The methods of strict constructivism, following principles put forward by Errett Bishop, reveal the hidden constructive content of a portion of classical geometry. A number of open problems remain for future studies.

In this letter, we show that the Semiclassical Einstein's Field Equation can be recovered using the generalized entropy $S_{gen}$. This approach is reminiscent of non-equilibrium thermodynamics. Furthermore, contrary to the entanglement equilibrium approach of deriving the semiclassical Einstein's equation, this approach does not require any such assumptions and still recovers its correct form. Therefore, in a sense, we also show the validity of the semiclassical approximation, a crucial approach for establishing a number of important ideas such as the Hawking effect.

Current state-of-the-art two-stage models on instance segmentation task suffer from several types of imbalances. In this paper, we address the Intersection over the Union (IoU) distribution imbalance of positive input Regions of Interest (RoIs) during the training of the second stage. Our Self-Balanced R-CNN (SBR-CNN), an evolved version of the Hybrid Task Cascade (HTC) model, brings brand new loop mechanisms of bounding box and mask refinements. With an improved Generic RoI Extraction (GRoIE), we also address the feature-level imbalance at the Feature Pyramid Network (FPN) level, originated by a non-uniform integration between low- and high-level features from the backbone layers. In addition, the redesign of the architecture heads toward a fully convolutional approach with FCC further reduces the number of parameters and obtains more clues to the connection between the task to solve and the layers used. Moreover, our SBR-CNN model shows the same or even better improvements if adopted in conjunction with other state-of-the-art models. In fact, with a lightweight ResNet-50 as backbone, evaluated on COCO minival 2017 dataset, our model reaches 45.3% and 41.5% AP for object detection and instance segmentation, with 12 epochs and without extra tricks. It is shown that the transport coefficients (self-diffusion, shear viscosity, and thermal conductivity) of the Weeks-Chandler-Anderson (WCA) fluid along isotherms exhibit a freezing density scaling (FDS). The functional form of this FDS is essentially the same or closely related to those in the Lennard-Jones fluid, hard-sphere fluid, and some liquefied noble gases. This proves that this FDS represents a quasi-universal corresponding state principle for simple classical fluids with steep interactions. Some related aspects such as Stokes-Einstein relation without a hydrodynamic diameter and gas-to-liquid dynamical crossover are briefly discussed. Blind single image super-resolution (SISR) is a challenging task in image processing due to the ill-posed nature of the inverse problem. Complex degradations present in real life images make it difficult to solve this problem using na\"ive deep learning approaches, where models are often trained on synthetically generated image pairs. Most of the effort so far has been focused on solving the inverse problem under some constraints, such as for a limited space of blur kernels and/or assuming noise-free input images. Yet, there is a gap in the literature to provide a well-generalized deep learning-based solution that performs well on images with unknown and highly complex degradations. In this paper, we propose IKR-Net (Iterative Kernel Reconstruction Network) for blind SISR. In the proposed approach, kernel and noise estimation and high-resolution image reconstruction are carried out iteratively using dedicated deep models. The iterative refinement provides significant improvement in both the reconstructed image and the estimated blur kernel even for noisy inputs. IKR-Net provides a generalized solution that can handle any type of blur and level of noise in the input low-resolution image. IKR-Net achieves state-of-the-art results in blind SISR, especially for noisy images with motion blur., Comment: 17 pages, 13 figures. Modeling the detection of life has never been more opportune. With next generation space telescopes, like the currently developing Habitable Worlds Observatory (HWO) concept, we will begin to characterize rocky exoplanets potentially similar to Earth. However, currently, few realistic planetary spectra containing surface biosignatures have been paired with direct imaging telescope instrument models. Therefore, we use a HWO instrument noise model to assess the detection of surface biosignatures affiliated with oxygenic, anoxygenic, and nonphotosynthetic extremophiles. We pair the HWO telescope model to a 1-D radiative transfer model to estimate the required exposure times necessary for detecting each biosignature on planets with global microbial coverage and varying atmospheric water vapor concentrations. For modeled planets with 0% - 50% cloud coverage, we determine pigments and the red edge could be detected within 1,000 hours (100 hours) at distances within 15 pc (11 pc). However, tighter telescope inner working angles (2.5 lambda/D) would allow surface biosignature detection at further distances. Anoxygenic photosynthetic biosignatures could also be more easily detectable than nonphotosynthetic pigments and the photosynthetic red edge when compared against a false positive iron oxide slope. Power system operation is of vital importance and must be developed far beyond today's practice to meet future needs. Almost all European countries are facing an abrupt and very important increase of renewables with intrinsically varying yields which are difficult to predict. In addition, an increase of new types of electric loads and a reduction of traditional production from bulk generation can be observed as well. Hence, the level of complexity of system operation steadily increases. Because of these developments, the traditional power system is being transformed into a smart grid. Previous and ongoing research has tended to focus on how specific aspects of smart grids can be developed and validated, but until now there exists no integrated approach for analysing and evaluating complex smart grid configurations. To tackle these research and development needs, a pan-European research infrastructure is realized in the ERIGrid project that supports the technology development as well as the roll out of smart grid technologies and solutions. This paper provides an overview of the main results of ERIGrid which have been achieved during the last four years. Also, experiences and lessons learned are discussed and an outlook to future research needs is provided.

In this work, the trajectories of particles around a black bounce spacetime are considered, with the Simpson-Visser model serving as an example. Trajectories for massless and massive particles are obtained through the study of null and time-like geodesics. As the Simpson-Visser solution is derived via the Einstein equations for a source involving nonlinear electrodynamics and a scalar field, photon trajectories are investigated by considering an effective metric in which photons follow null geodesics. The stability of circular orbits is analyzed by examining the behavior of maxima and minima of the effective potential associated with geodesics. It is also studied what type of geodesic photons follow when the usual metric is considered instead of the effective one. This study discusses how insights retrieved from subscriber data can impact decision-making in telecommunications, focusing on predictive modeling using machine learning techniques such as the ARIMA model. The study explores time series forecasting to predict subscriber usage trends, evaluating the ARIMA model's performance using various metrics. It also compares ARIMA with Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) models, highlighting ARIMA's superiority in accuracy and execution speed. The study suggests future directions for research, including exploring additional forecasting models and considering other factors affecting subscriber data usage.

Goal-oriented analysis tools are used to assess goal models and assist analysts in decision-making. We introduce the VeGAn-Tool, which prioritizes goals according to their qualitative importance for the stakeholders and propagates this information in the goal model according to the different types of relationships. The FTOPSIS technique is used to calculate the value of each intentional element by employing the fuzzified importance (importance level fuzzified and refined by a confidence level) and the impact among the related intentional elements. The result is a prioritized goal model according to the value of each intentional element from the stakeholders' point of view.

We present an in-depth analysis of a single-electron box (SEB) biased through a floating node technique that is common in charge-coupled devices (CCDs). The device is analyzed and characterized in the context of single-electron charge-sensing techniques for integrated silicon quantum dots (QD). The unique aspect of our SEB design is the incorporation of a metallic floating node, strategically employed for sensing and precise injection of electrons into an electrostatically formed QD. To analyse the SEB, we propose an extended multi-orbital Anderson impurity model (MOAIM), adapted to our nanoscale SEB system, that is used to predict theoretically the behaviour of the SEB in the context of a charge-sensing application. The validation of the model and the sensing technique has been carried out on a QD fabricated in a fully depleted silicon on insulator (FDSOI) process on a 22-nm technological node. We demonstrate the MOAIM's efficacy in predicting the observed electronic behavior and elucidating the complex electron dynamics and correlations in the SEB. The results of our study reinforce the versatility and precision of the model in the realm of nanoelectronics and highlight the practical utility of the metallic floating node as a mechanism for charge injection and detection in integrated QDs. Finally, we identify the limitations of our model in capturing higher-order effects observed in our measurements and propose future outlooks to reconcile some of these discrepancies., Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures

In this paper, we prove a sharp ill-posedness result for the incompressible non-resistive MHD equations. In any dimension $d\ge 2$, we show the ill-posedness of the non-resistive MHD equations in $H^{\frac{d}{2}-1}(\mathbb{R}^d)\times H^{\frac{d}{2}}(\mathbb{R}^d)$, which is sharp in view of the results of the local well-posedness in $H^{s-1}(\mathbb{R}^d)\times H^{s}(\mathbb{R}^d)(s>\frac{d}{2})$ established by Fefferman et al.(Arch. Embedded systems continue to rapidly proliferate in diverse fields, including medical devices, autonomous vehicles, and more generally, the Internet of Things (IoT). Many embedded systems require application-specific hardware components to meet precise timing requirements within limited resource (area and energy) constraints. High-level synthesis (HLS) is an increasingly popular approach for improving the productivity of designing hardware and reducing the time/cost by using high-level languages to specify computational functionality and automatically generate hardware implementations. However, current HLS methods provide limited or no support to incorporate or utilize precise timing specifications within the synthesis and optimization process. In this paper, we present a hybrid high-level synthesis (H-HLS) framework that integrates state-based high-level synthesis (SB-HLS) with performance-driven high-level synthesis (PD-HLS) methods to enable the design and optimization of application-specific embedded systems in which timing information is explicitly and precisely defined in state-based system models. We demonstrate the results achieved by this H-HLS approach using case studies including a wearable pregnancy monitoring device, an ECG-based biometric authentication system, and a synthetic system, and compare the design space exploration results using two PD-HLS tools to show how H-HLS can provide low energy and area under timing constraints., Comment: Accepted at IGSC 2021, published in Sustainable Computing: Informatics and Systems (SUSCOM) 2022

Electrolytic hydrogen production serves as not only a vital source of green hydrogen but also a key strategy for addressing renewable energy consumption challenges. For the safe production of hydrogen through alkaline water electrolyzer (AWE), dependable process monitoring technology is essential. However, random noise can easily contaminate the AWE process data collected in industrial settings, presenting new challenges for monitoring methods. In this study, we develop the variational Bayesian sparse principal component analysis (VBSPCA) method for process monitoring. VBSPCA methods based on Gaussian prior and Laplace prior are derived to obtain the sparsity of the projection matrix, which corresponds to $\ell_2$ regularization and $\ell_1$ regularization, respectively. The correlation of dynamic latent variables is then analyzed by sparse autoregression and fault variables are diagnosed by fault reconstruction. The effectiveness of the method is verified by an industrial hydrogen production process, and the test results demonstrated that both Gaussian prior and Laplace prior based VBSPCA can effectively detect and diagnose critical faults in AWEs.

We present a state-of-the-art calculation of the unpolarized pion valence-quark distribution in the framework of large-momentum effective theory (LaMET) with improved handling of systematic errors as well as two-loop perturbative matching. We use lattice ensembles generated by the MILC collaboration at lattice spacing $a\approx 0.09$~fm, lattice volume $64^3\times 96$, $N_f=2+1+1$ flavors of highly-improved staggered quarks and a physical pion mass. The LaMET matrix elements are calculated with pions boosted to momentum $P_z\approx 1.72$~GeV with high-statistics of $O(10^6)$ measurements. We study the pion PDF in both hybrid-ratio and hybrid-regularization-independent momentum subtraction (hybrid-RI/MOM) schemes and also compare the systematic errors with and without the addition of leading-renormalon resummation (LRR) and renormalization-group resummation (RGR) in both the renormalization and lightcone matching. The final lightcone PDF results are presented in the modified minimal-subtraction scheme at renormalization scale $\mu=2.0$~GeV. We show that the $x$-dependent PDFs are compatible between the hybrid-ratio and hybrid-RI/MOM renormalization with the same improvements. We also show that systematics are greatly reduced by the simultaneous inclusion of RGR and LRR and that these methods are necessary if improved precision is to be reached with higher-order terms in renormalization and matching., Comment: 11 pages, 9 figures, 2 tables

What time does a clock tell after quantum tunneling? Predictions and indirect measurements range from superluminal or instantaneous tunneling to finite durations, depending on the specific experiment and the precise definition of the elapsed time. Proposals and implementations utilize the atomic motion to define this delay, even though the inherent quantum nature of atoms implies a delocalization and is in sharp contrast to classical trajectories. Here, we rely on an operational approach: we prepare atoms in a coherent superposition of internal states and study the time read off via a Ramsey sequence after the tunneling process without the notion of classical trajectories or velocities. Our operational framework (a) unifies definitions of tunneling delay within one approach; (b) connects the time to a frequency standard given by a conventional atomic clock which can be boosted by differential light shifts; and (c) highlights that there exists no superluminal or instantaneous tunneling., Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures

Purpose: In medical research, deep learning models rely on high-quality annotated data, a process often laborious and timeconsuming. This is particularly true for detection tasks where bounding box annotations are required. The need to adjust two corners makes the process inherently frame-by-frame. Given the scarcity of experts' time, efficient annotation methods suitable for clinicians are needed. Methods: We propose an on-the-fly method for live video annotation to enhance the annotation efficiency. In this approach, a continuous single-point annotation is maintained by keeping the cursor on the object in a live video, mitigating the need for tedious pausing and repetitive navigation inherent in traditional annotation methods. This novel annotation paradigm inherits the point annotation's ability to generate pseudo-labels using a point-to-box teacher model. We empirically evaluate this approach by developing a dataset and comparing on-the-fly annotation time against traditional annotation method. Results: Using our method, annotation speed was 3.2x faster than the traditional annotation technique. We achieved a mean improvement of 6.51 +- 0.98 AP@50 over conventional method at equivalent annotation budgets on the developed dataset. Conclusion: Without bells and whistles, our approach offers a significant speed-up in annotation tasks. Despite the widespread use of zeolites in chemical industry, their formation process is not fully understood due to the complex and heterogeneous structure of traditional synthesis media. Hydrated silicate ionic liquids (HSILs) have been proposed as an alternative. They are truly homogeneous and transparent mixtures with low viscosity, facilitating experimental characterization. Interestingly, their homogeneous nature and simple speciation brings realistic molecular models of a zeolite growth liquid within reach for the first time. In this work, a simple molecular model is developed that gives insight into the crucial role of the alkali cations (sodium, potassium, rubidium and cesium). Thereby molecular dynamics simulations are combined with experimental measurements to demonstrate that the HSIL liquid structure strongly depends on the charge density and concentration of the alkali cation. As the water content increases, it transitions from a glassy network with fast ion exchange to an aqueous solution containing long-lasting, solvated ion pairs. Furthermore, simulations reveal that the cation is capable of bringing several silicate monomers together in the glassy network, displaying perfect orientations for condensation reactions that underlie zeolite formation. This work is an important step towards the development of molecular models that can fully describe the early nucleation process of zeolites in combination with experiments.

We investigate a mutual relationship between information and energy during early phase of LTP induction and maintenance in a large-scale system of mutually coupled dendritic spines, with discrete internal states and probabilistic dynamics, within the framework of nonequilibrium stochastic thermodynamics. In order to analyze this computationally intractable stochastic multidimensional system, we introduce a pair approximation, which allows us to reduce the spine dynamics into a lower dimensional manageable system of closed equations. It is found that the rates of information gain and energy attain their maximal values during an initial period of LTP (i.e. during stimulation), and after that they recover to their baseline low values, as opposed to a memory trace that lasts much longer. This suggests that learning phase is much more energy demanding than the memory phase. We show that positive correlations between neighboring spines increase both a duration of memory trace and energy cost during LTP, but the memory time per invested energy increases dramatically for very strong positive synaptic cooperativity, suggesting a beneficial role of synaptic clustering on memory duration. In contrast, information gain after LTP is the largest for negative correlations, and energy efficiency of that information generally declines with increasing synaptic cooperativity. We also find that dendritic spines can use sparse representations for encoding of long-term information, as both energetic and structural efficiencies of retained information and its lifetime exhibit maxima for low fractions of stimulated synapses during LTP. In this work, two different parametric hysteresis models, the Jiles-Atherton model and the Mel'gui relation, have been combined to form a more general hysteresis operator, suitable for the description of families of experimental B(H) curves obtained for low carbon (LC) steel specimens after isothermal annealing at different temperatures and times. As it has been demonstrated in a number of previous studies, characteristic values of steel hysteresis curves can be used as very efficient identifiers for the monitoring of the different metallurgical transformations that take place during the annealing, such as recovery and recrystallisation processes. It is thus important from a practical point to be able to reproduce the experimental curves obtained under different conditions, as precisely as possible, in order to proceed to the samples characterisation. Hybridisation of the two aforementioned models demonstrated satisfactory results for the reproduction of all considered curves obtained under the different considered annealing conditions.

This article is dedicated to discuss the sliding stability and the uniqueness property for the 2-dimensional minimal cone YXY in R4. This problem is motivated by the classification of singularities for Almgren minimal sets, a model for Plateau's problem in the setting of sets. Minimal cones are blow up limits of Almgren minimal sets, thus the list of all minimal cones gives all possible types of singularities that can occur for minimal sets. As proved in [16], when several 2-dimensional Almgren (resp. topological) minimal cones are Almgren (resp. topological) sliding stable, and Almgren (resp. topological) unique, the almost orthogonal union of them stays minimal. Hence if several minimal cones admit sliding stability and uniqueness properties, then we can use their almost orthogonal unions to generate new families of minimal cones. One then naturally ask which minimal cones admit these two properties. Among all the known 2-dimensional minimal cones, YXY is the only one whose stability and uniqueness properties were left unsolved. We give affirmative answers to this problem for the stability and uniqueness properties for YXY in this paper: we prove that the set YXY is both Almgren sliding stable, and Almgren unique; for the topological case, we prove its topological sliding stability and topological uniqueness for the coefficient group Z2. This result, along with the results in [16, 18, 17], allows us to use all the known 2-dimensional minimal cones to generate new 2-dimensional minimal cones by taking almost orthogonal unions., Comment: 56 pages

The pulsar magnetic inclination angle is a key parameter for pulsar physics. It influences the observable properties of pulsars, such as the pulse beam width, braking index, polarisation, and emission geometry. In this study, we give a brief overview of the current state of knowledge and research on this parameter and its implications for the internal physics of pulsars. We use the observed pulsar data of magnetic inclination angle and braking index to constrain the star's number of precession cycles, $\xi$, which reflects the interaction between superfluid neutrons and other particles inside a neutron star\,(NS). We apply the method proposed by Cheng et al. (2019) to analyse the data of PSR J2013+3845 and obtain the constraints for $\xi$ ranging from $2.393\times 10^{5}$ to $1.268\times10^{6}$. And further analysis suggests that the internal magnetic field structure of PSR J2013+3845 is likely dominated by toroidal component. This study may help us understand the process of internal viscous dissipation and the related evolution of the inclination angles of pulsars, and may have important implications for the study of continuous gravitational wave emissions from NS., Comment: 7 pages, 2 figures, published in AN

In this paper, we prove that the product of a paired calibrated set and a set of codimension 1 calibrated by a coflat calibration with small singularity set is Almgren minimal. This is motivated by the attempt to classify all possible singularities for Almgren minimal sets--Plateau's problem in the setting of sets. In particular, a direct application of the above result leads to various types of new singularities for Almgren minimal sets, e.g. the product of any paired calibrated cone (such as the cone over the $d-2$ skeleton of the unit cube in $\R^d, d\ge 4$) with homogeneous area minimizing hypercones (such as the Simons cone)., Comment: 36 pages

Strain is an effective strategy to modulate the optoelectronic properties of 2D materials, but it has been almost unexplored in layered hybrid organic-inorganic metal halide perovskites (HOIPs) due to their complex band structure and mechanical properties. Here, we investigate the temperature-dependent microphotoluminescence (PL) of 2D $(C_6H_5CH_2CH_2NH_3)_2Cs_3Pb_4Br_{13}$ HOIP subject to biaxial strain induced by a $SiO_2$ ring platform on which flakes are placed by viscoelastic stamping. At 80 K, we found that a strain of <1% can change the PL emission from a single peak (unstrained) to three well-resolved peaks. Supported by micro-Raman spectroscopy, we show that the thermomechanically generated strain modulates the bandgap due to changes in the octahedral tilting and lattice expansion. Mechanical simulations demonstrate the coexistence of tensile and compressive strain along the flake. The observed PL peaks add an interesting feature to the rich phenomenology of photoluminescence in 2D HOIPs, which can be exploited in tailored sensing and optoelectronic devices., Comment: 4 figures

Understanding the structural and magnetic properties in layered hybrid organic-inorganic metal halide perovskites (HOIPs) is key for their design and integration in spin-electronic devices. Here, we have conducted a systematic study on ten compounds to understand the effect of the transition metal (Cu$^{2+}$, Mn$^{2+}$, Co$^{2+}$), organic spacer (alkyl- and aryl-ammonium) and perovskite phase (Ruddlesden-Popper and Dion-Jacobson) on the properties of these materials. Temperature-dependent Raman measurements show that the crystals' structural phase transitions are triggered by the motional freedom of the organic cations as well as by the flexibility of the inorganic metal-halide lattice. In the case of Cu$^{2+}$ HOIPs, an increase of the in-plane anisotropy and a reduction of the octahedra interlayer distance is found to change the behavior of the HOIP from that of a 2D ferromagnet to that of a quasi-3D antiferromagnet. Mn$^{2+}$ HOIPs show inherent antiferromagnetic octahedra intralayer interactions and a phenomenologically rich magnetism, presenting spin-canting, spin-flop transitions and metamagnetism controlled by the crystal anisotropy. Co$^{2+}$ crystals with non-linked tetrahedra show a dominant paramagnetic behavior irrespective of the organic spacer and the perovskite phase. Plasma technology has undeniably revolutionized industrial processes in recent decades. Atmospheric pressure plasma (APP) has emerged as a prominent and widely applicable tool in various scientific disciplines. Notably, plasma-assisted flow control has become a subject of intense interest, particularly applying surface dielectric barrier discharge (SDBD) plasma actuators for aerodynamic flow control. In this study, a two-dimensional model of the SDBD plasma actuator is developed using the COMSOL Multiphysics program, incorporating air gas discharge reactions with N2/O2/Ar gases in specific ratios (0.78, 0.21, 0.01). The investigation focuses on the impact of dielectric materials (mica, silica glass, quartz, and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)) on plasma characteristics and body force within the plasma actuator under constant input parameters. Moreover, the study explores how variable pressure (760, 660, and 560 torr) in different applications influences plasma properties, ultimately affecting the magnitude of the body force in the plasma actuator. These findings contribute to optimizing plasma technology for flow control applications and enhance industrial efficiency and performance.

This letter presents a 360{\deg} phase detector cell for performing phase-shift measurements on multiple output systems. An analog phase detector, capable of detecting a maximum range of {\pm}90{\deg}, has been used to perform a double multiplication of two signals, both in-phase and phase-shifted. The proposed solution broadens the frequency range beyond other solutions that require to fulfill the quadrature condition. Subsequently, the possibility of reaching the theoretical limit of phase shift within a hybrid coupler ({\Phi} < 90{\deg} {\pm} 90{\deg}) is discussed by using four straight-line equations to characterize the phase detector response. The proposed solution allows to extend up to 360{\deg} the phase detection range and provide an increased immunity with respect to both impedance mismatching and phase deviations within the hybrid coupler. To demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed design, a phase detector cell prototype has been implemented using a commercial hybrid coupler with a phase shift of 92.5{\deg} {\pm} 0.5{\deg} at 3.1-5.9 GHz, an external switch and a microcontroller with 2 kB of memory. Photolithography is believed to be a complementary technique to large-area printing, allowing for nanometer-scale integration and offering cost-efficiency. For organic electronics though, adapting photolithography is very challenging due to chemical incompatibilities. However, with the help of Alexander Zakhidov, orthogonal resins opened up the prospect of adapting the well-established process of photolithography for organic electronics. Here, we present a hybrid fabrication method for organic electrochemical transistors by combining orthogonal photolithography and inkjet printing, enabling high uniformity and reliability. Automatic live video commenting is with increasing attention due to its significance in narration generation, topic explanation, etc. However, the diverse sentiment consideration of the generated comments is missing from the current methods. Sentimental factors are critical in interactive commenting, and lack of research so far. Thus, in this paper, we propose a Sentiment-oriented Transformer-based Variational Autoencoder (So-TVAE) network which consists of a sentiment-oriented diversity encoder module and a batch attention module, to achieve diverse video commenting with multiple sentiments and multiple semantics. Specifically, our sentiment-oriented diversity encoder elegantly combines VAE and random mask mechanism to achieve semantic diversity under sentiment guidance, which is then fused with cross-modal features to generate live video comments. Furthermore, a batch attention module is also proposed in this paper to alleviate the problem of missing sentimental samples, caused by the data imbalance, which is common in live videos as the popularity of videos varies. Extensive experiments on Livebot and VideoIC datasets demonstrate that the proposed So-TVAE outperforms the state-of-the-art methods in terms of the quality and diversity of generated comments. A new simulation technique to obtain the synchronized steady-state solutions existing in coupled oscillator systems is presented. The technique departs from a semi-analytical formulation presented in previous works. It extends the model of the admittance function describing each individual oscillator to a piecewise linear one. This provides a global formulation of the coupled system, considering the whole characteristic of each voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) in the array. In comparison with the previous local formulation, the new formulation significantly improves the accuracy in the prediction of the system synchronization ranges. The technique has been tested by comparison with computationally demanding circuit-level Harmonic Balance simulations in an array of Van der Pol-type oscillators and then applied to a coupled system of FET based oscillators at 5 GHz, with very good agreement with measurements., Comment: Index Terms: Coupled-oscillator system, harmonic balance, phased arrays

In this paper we derive the asymptotic distribution of normalized residual empirical autocovariances and autocorrelations under weak assumptions on the noise. We propose new portmanteau statistics for vector autoregressive moving-average (VARMA) models with uncorrelated but non-independent innovations by using a self-normalization approach. We establish the asymptotic distribution of the proposed statistics. This asymptotic distribution is quite different from the usual chi-squared approximation used under the independent and identically distributed assumption on the noise, or the weighted sum of independent chi-squared random variables obtained under nonindependent innovations. This article develops the asymptotic distribution of the least squares estimator of the model parameters in periodicvector autoregressive time series models (hereafter PVAR) with uncorrelated but dependent innovations. When theinnovations are dependent, this asymptotic distributions can be quite different from that of PVAR models with in-dependent and identically distributed (iid for short) innovations developed in Ursu and Duchesne (2009). Modifiedversions of the Wald tests are proposed for testing linear restrictions on the parameters. These asymptotic results are illustrated by Monte Carlo experiments. Magnetic skyrmions are topological magnetic textures that hold great promise as nanoscale bits of information in memory and logic devices. Although room-temperature ferromagnetic skyrmions and their current-induced manipulation have been demonstrated, their velocity has been limited to about 100 meters per second. In addition, their dynamics are perturbed by the skyrmion Hall effect, a motion transverse to the current direction caused by the skyrmion topological charge. Here, we show that skyrmions in compensated synthetic antiferromagnets can be moved by current along the current direction at velocities of up to 900 meters per second. This can be explained by the cancellation of the net topological charge leading to a vanishing skyrmion Hall effect. In a superconductor/ferromagnet hybrid, a magnetically controlled singlet-to-triplet Cooper pair conversion can modulate the superconducting critical temperature. In these triplet superconducting spin valves, such control usually requires inhomogeneous magnetism. However, in the presence of spin-orbit coupling from an interfacial heavy-metal layer, the singlet/triplet conversion rate and thus the critical temperature, can be controlled via the magnetization direction of a single homogeneous ferromagnet. Here, we report significantly enhanced controllable pair conversion to a triplet state in a Nb/Pt/Co/Pt superconducting spin valve in which Pt/Co/Pt is homogeneously magnetized and proximity-coupled to a superconducting layer of Nb. The Co/Pt interface furthest away from Nb is modified by a sub-nanometer-thick layer of Cu or Au. We argue that the enhancement is most likely associated from an improvement of the Co/Pt interface due to the insertion of Cu and Au layers. Additionally, the higher normalized orbital moments in Au measured using X-ray magnetic circular dichroism shows that increasing spin-orbit coupling enhances the triplet proximity effect - an observation supported by our theoretical calculations. In this article, we focus on the plasma seed interaction and more specifically-on the feedback exerted by the seeds on the plasma properties. Dormant Arabidopsis seeds with different water contents (WC), namely 3 %DW, 10 %DW and 30%DW were exposed to cold ambient air plasma (C2AP) generated in a dielectric barrier device (DBD). It is found that increasing WC enhances the capacitive current of the DBD, generates a greater number of low energy streamers (characterized by current peaks lower than 10 mA) that preferentially interplay with the seeds. Since the resistive and capacitive components of the seeds modify the C2AP electrical properties, impedance measurements have been carried out to measure their main dielectric parameters before/after plasma exposure (seeds resistance, capacitance, complex relative permittivity, tangent loss and conductivity). WC significantly changes dielectric losses at low frequencies (< 1 kHz) due to polarization relaxation of the polar molecules (i.e. water). LCRmetry further reveals that C2AP does not substantially alter seeds dielectric parameters, i.e. it neither adds or removes significant amounts of new materials, meaning that the relative starch, protein and lipid contents remain essentially unaffected. However, it cannot be discounted that some bulk properties of the Arabidopsis seeds may be modified, especially regarding their porosity. This characteristic could facilitate penetration of plasma-generated reactive oxygen species into the internal seed tissues, leading to the grafting of oxygenated groups. Water sorption isotherms have been achieved on Arabidopsis seeds and fitted with four thermodynamic models, including the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller model and the Generalized D'Arcy and Watt model. It is demonstrated that C2AP primarily strengthens water-seed affinity by modifying molecular interactions rather than changing the seed's moisture layer.

The extended kernel ridge regression (EKRR) method with odd-even effects was adopted to improve the description of the nuclear charge radius using five commonly used nuclear models. These are: (i) the isospin dependent $A^{1/3}$ formula, (ii) relativistic continuum Hartree-Bogoliubov (RCHB) theory, (iii) Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (HFB) model HFB25, (iv) the Weizs\"acker-Skyrme (WS) model WS$^\ast$, and (v) HFB25$^\ast$ model. In the last two models, the charge radii were calculated using a five-parameter formula with the nuclear shell corrections and deformations obtained from the WS and HFB25 models, respectively. For each model, the resultant root-mean-square deviation for the 1014 nuclei with proton number $Z \geq 8$ can be significantly reduced to 0.009-0.013~fm after considering the modification with the EKRR method. The best among them was the RCHB model, with a root-mean-square deviation of 0.0092~fm. The extrapolation abilities of the KRR and EKRR methods for the neutron-rich region were examined and it was found that after considering the odd-even effects, the extrapolation power was improved compared with that of the original KRR method. The strong odd-even staggering of nuclear charge radii of Ca and Cu isotopes and the abrupt kinks across the neutron $N=126$ and 82 shell closures were also calculated and could be reproduced quite well by calculations using the EKRR method., Comment: 8 pages, 5 figures, 1 table

In the seminal paper (Phys. Rep. 52, 263, 1979), Boris Chirikov showed that the standard map does not exhibit a boundary to chaos, but rather that there are small islands (islets) of stability for arbitrarily large values of the nonlinear perturbation. In this context, he established that the area of the islets in the phase space and the range of parameter values where they exist should decay following power laws with exponents -2 and -1, respectively. In this paper, we carry out a systematic numerical search for islets of stability and we show that the power laws predicted by Chirikov hold. Furthermore, we use high-resolution 3D islets to reveal that the islets volume decays following a similar power law with exponent -3., Comment: 7 pages

The design of a cusp-like digital pulse shaper for particle energy measurements requires the definition of four parameters whose values are defined based on the nature of the shaper input signal (timing, noise, ...) provided by a sensor. However, after high doses of radiation, sensors degenerate and their output signals do not meet the original characteristics, which may lead to erroneous measurements of the particle energies. We present in this paper an evolvable cusp-like digital shaper, which is able to auto-recalibrate the original hardware implementation into a new design that match the original specifications under the new sensor features.

Internet of Things systems exists in various areas of our everyday life. For example, sensors installed in smart cities and homes are processed in edge and cloud computing centres providing several benefits that improve our lives. The place of data processing is related to the required system response times -- processing data closer to its source results in a shorter system response time. The Osmotic Computing concept enables flexible deployment of data processing services and their possible movement, just like particles in the osmosis phenomenon move between regions of different densities. At the same time, the impact of complex computer architecture on the environment is increasingly being compensated by the use of renewable and low-carbon energy sources. However, the uncertainty of supplying green energy makes the management of Osmotic Computing demanding, and therefore their autonomy is desirable. In the paper, we present a framework enabling osmotic computing simulation based on renewable energy sources and autonomic osmotic agents, allowing the analysis of distributed management algorithms. We discuss the challenges posed to the framework and analyze various management algorithms for cooperating osmotic agents. In the evaluation we show that changing the adaptation logic of the osmotic agents, it is possible to increase the self-consumption of renewable energy sources or increase the usage of low emission ones.

Ultracold atoms trapped in optical superlattices provide a simple platform for realizing the seminal Aubry-Andr\'{e}-Harper (AAH) model. However, the periodic modulations on the nearest-neighbour hoppings have been ignored in this model. In this paper, we find that optical superlattice system actually can be approximately described by a generalized AAH model in the case of $V_1\gg V_2$, with periodic modulations on both on-site energies and nearest-neighbour hoppings, supporting much richer topological properties that are absent in the standard AAH model. Specifically, by calculating Chern numbers and topological edge states, we show that the generalized AAH model possesses multifarious topological phases and topological phase transitions, as compared to the standard AAH model only supporting a single topological phase. Our findings can open up more opportunities for using optical superlattices to study topological and localization physics.

Recognized as a not-an-option approach to mitigate the climate crisis, carbon dioxide capture and storage (CCS) has a potential as much as gigaton of CO2 to sequestrate permanently and securely. Recent attention has been paid to store highly concentrated point-source CO2 into saline formation, of which Thailand considers one onshore case in the north located in Lampang, the Mae Moh coal-fired power plant matched with its own coal mine of Mae Moh Basin. The current study is thus aimed to examine the influence of reservoir geomechanics on CO2 storage containment and trapping mechanisms, with co-contributions from geochemistry and reservoir heterogeneity, using reservoir simulator, CMG-GEM. With the injection rate designed for 30-year injection, reservoir pressure build-ups were 77% of fracture pressure but increased to 80% when geomechanics excluded. Such pressure responses imply that storage security is associated with the geomechanics. Dominated by viscous force, CO2 plume migrated more laterally while geomechanics clearly contributed to lesser migration due to reservoir rock strength constraint. Reservoir geomechanics contributed to less plume traveling into more constrained spaces while leakage was secured, highlighting a significant and neglected influence of geomechanical factor. Spatiotemporal development of CO2 plume also confirms the geomechanics-dominant storage containment. Reservoir geomechanics as attributed to its respective reservoir fluid pressure controls development of trapping mechanisms, especially into residual and solubility traps. More secured storage containment after the injection was found with higher pressure, while less development into solubility trap was observed with lower pressure., Comment: 26 pages, 10 figures

It is shown that Birkhoff's theorem for the general theory of relativity is overcome in the $f(R)$-theory of gravitation. That means, the $f(R)$-theory of gravitation, unlike Einstein's general theory of relativity, does not forbid gravitational radiation from a spherically symmetric source (whether stationary or non-stationary). As a consequence, in the $f(R)$-theory a spherically symmetric gravitational deformation (e.g., collapse/expansion or pulsation) could emit gravitational waves (of tensor- and scalar polarization modes), a phenomenon impossible in the general relativity. A test model is examined and it turns out that the gravitational radiation is strongest when the surface of the deforming object is in the vicinity of the (modified) event horizon, even suddenly flares up just outside the latter. In this letter, within the $f(R)$-theory of gravitation, a gravitational wave equation and a formula for the gravitational emission power are derived. These formulae, along with searching for signals, can be used for the experimental test of the $f(R)$-theory. In general, including the spherically symmetry case, gravitational radiation of both tensor- and scalar polarization modes are allowed, although under some circumstance the contribution of scalar modes is strongly suppressed., Comment: LaTeX 10 pages, 5 figures

The nuclear charge density distribution plays an important role in nuclear physics and atomic physics. As one of the most frequently used models to obtain charge density distribution, the two-parameter fermi (2pF) model has been widely applied in both nuclear physics and atomic physics. Currently, the feedforward neural network has been employed to study the available 2pF model parameters for 86 nuclei, and it is found that by introducing A^{1/3} into the input parameter of the neural network, the accuracy and precision of the parameter learning effect are improved. Furthermore, the average result of multiple predictions is more reliable than the best result of a single prediction, and there is no significant difference between the average result of density value and of parameter value for the average charge density distribution. In addition, 2pF parameters of 284 (near) stable nuclei are also predicted in this work, which provides a reference for the experiment., Comment: 11 pages, 8 figures
