This article examines the integration of IT competitions, in particular Capture The Flag, into an information systems management course to fill skills gaps, particularly in the field of cybersecurity. An educational CTF team has been set up at IAE Paris-Est with the aim of developing students' skills. Workshops, challenges, and events have been organised to familiarise them with the CTFs and offer them support adapted to their level. Preliminary results show the importance of soft skills in improving cybersecurity skills. The CTF pedagogical team is continuing to experiment with and evaluate these methods to improve the accessibility and effectiveness of cybersecurity training., Comment: in French language, Game Evolution 2024, Antoine Cholet; Philippe L{\'e}pinard, May 2024, Paris, France

Colmez, Dospinescu and Niziol have shown that the only $p$-adic representations of $\rm{Gal}(\bar{\mathbb{Q}}_p/\mathbb{Q}_p)$ appearing in the $p$-adic \'etale cohomology of the coverings of Drinfeld's half-plane are the $2$-dimensional cuspidal representations (i.e. potentially semi-stable, whose associated Weil-Deligne representation is irreducible) with Hodge-Tate weights $0$ and $1$ and their multiplicities are given by the $p$-adic Langlands correspondence. We generalise this result to arbitrary weights, by considering the $p$-adic \'etale cohomology with coefficients in the symmetric powers of the universal local system on Drinfeld's tower. A novelty is the appearance of potentially semistable $2$-dimensional non-cristabelian representations, with expected multiplicity. The key point is that the local systems we consider turn out to be particularly simple: they are "isotrivial opers" on a curve. We develop a recipe to compute the pro\'etale cohomology of such a local system using the Hyodo-Kato cohomology of the curve and the de Rham complex of the flat filtered bundle associated to the local system., Comment: In French

In parallel with the dissemination of information technology, we note the persistence of frontiers within creative practices, in particular between the digital arts and the performing arts. Crossings of these frontiers brought to light the need for a common appropriation of digital issues. As a result of this appropriation, the AvatarStaging platform and its software dimension AKN_Regie will be described in their use to direct avatars on a mixed theatre stage. Developed with the Blueprint visual language within Epic Games' Unreal Engine, AKN_Regie offers a user interface accessible to non-programming artists. This feature will be used to describe two perspectives of appropriation of the tool: the Plugin perspective for these users and the Blueprint perspective for programming artists who want to improve the tool. These two perspectives are then completed by a C++ perspective that aligns AKN_Regie with the language with which the engine itself is programmed. The circulations between these three perspectives are finally studied by drawing on work on the ecology of collective intelligence., Comment: in French language

Computer Science - Networking and Internet Architecture - Abstract
Segment routing (SR) offers precise control over the paths taken: it specifies a list of detours, called segments, in IP packets. However, the number of detours that can be specified is limited by the hardware. When calculating segment lists, it is therefore necessary to limit their size. Although solutions have been proposed for calculating these lists, they lack generality and are not always optimal or efficient. We present ROUTOURNE, a method for diverting routing algorithms so that they calculate, not simply an optimal physical path to be translated into a list of segments a posteriori (with no guarantee of its size), but directly the optimal lists of segments deployable by the underlying hardware. ROUTOURNE thus facilitates the deployment of advanced traffic engineering strategies and policies, notably for load balancing from sources. Despite a route fraught with surprising challenges - in particular, the loss of isotonicity induced by SR - ROUTOURNE proves efficient, inducing at worst a linear overhead. Its accuracy and optimality have been proven, and its effectiveness evaluated by generalizing it to several more or less complex path calculation algorithms., Comment: in French language. A holomorphic pre-foliation $\mathscr{F}=\mathcal{C}\boxtimes\mathcal{F}$ on $\mathbb{P}^{2}_{\mathbb{C}}$ is the data of a reduced complex projective curve $\mathcal{C}$ of $\mathbb{P}^{2}_{\mathbb{C}}$ and a holomorphic foliation $\mathcal{F}$ on $\mathbb{P}^{2}_{\mathbb{C}}$. When the foliation $\mathcal{F}$ is convex and the curve $\mathcal{C}$ is invariant by $\mathcal{F}$, we speak of convex pre-foliation. In a previous paper, we showed that if a foliation $\mathcal{F}$ on $\mathbb{P}^{2}_{\mathbb{C}}$ is reduced convex or homogeneous convex and if $\mathcal{C}$ is an invariant line of $\mathcal{F}$, then the dual web of the convex pre-foliation $\mathcal{C}\boxtimes\mathcal{F}$ is flat. In this paper, we propose to extend this result to the case of a curve $\mathcal{C}$ consisting of several invariant lines., Comment: 7 pages, in French language

Artificial intelligence (AI), based on deep-learning algorithm using high-quality reanalysis datasets, is showing enormous potential for weather forecasting. In this context, the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) is developing a new forecasting system based on AI. Verification results of deterministic forecast for now are promising. However, the realism of weather forecasts based on AI is often questioned. Here, different types of realism are identified and we discuss, in particular, the relationship between structural realism and predictability of weather events. Furthermore, a statistical analysis of deterministic forecasts based on AI points to a realism/performance dilemma that a probabilistic approach should help to solve. Although counterfactual explanations are a popular approach to explain ML black-box classifiers, they are less widespread in NLP. Most methods find those explanations by iteratively perturbing the target document until it is classified differently by the black box. We identify two main families of counterfactual explanation methods in the literature, namely, (a) \emph{transparent} methods that perturb the target by adding, removing, or replacing words, and (b) \emph{opaque} approaches that project the target document into a latent, non-interpretable space where the perturbation is carried out subsequently. This article offers a comparative study of the performance of these two families of methods on three classical NLP tasks. Our empirical evidence shows that opaque approaches can be an overkill for downstream applications such as fake news detection or sentiment analysis since they add an additional level of complexity with no significant performance gain. These observations motivate our discussion, which raises the question of whether it makes sense to explain a black box using another black box., Comment: This article was originally published in French at the Journal TAL. In the era of globalization and digital networks, the so-called ''minored'' or ''endangered'' languages are facing a twofold dilemma: either succeed in their digital modernity by accepting a ''painful'' linguistic management or slide towards a slow extinction in front of hegemonic and ''predatory'' languages which dominate the digital networks.Oral languages and minored not-Romanized writings are the most concerned by the protective measures of the cultural and linguistic diversity on the Internet. Digital broadcasting and the Unicode multi-writing encoding system are providing them with innovative, consensual, and standardized alternatives to survive. Then, it depends on the synergy that their communities of practice will generate to place them at the heart of the debate on the digital divide., Comment: in French language

Computer Science - Computers and Society - Abstract
Terminology and lexicography standardization is a fundamental issue that is becoming increasingly important in the era of multilingual globalization and particularly, from our standpoint, the era of terminotics and translation. The challenges of multilingual globalization and e-semantics directly impact standardization methods: Development and perspectives of standards for ''Terminology and other language and content resources'' (the title of ISO-TC37); Development and future of all standardization fields that develop terminology (or vocabulary) most often multilingual, serving as the basis for their development and acting as a reference totheir use. In the first part of our presentation, we will first point out the normative aspects of standardization in terminology and especially terminotics. In the second part, we will present a brief overview of terminology standardization projects and their rationale, In the third part, we will develop the specific issue of ICTE. We will focus on our involvement in this field, on our assumptions and values of methods. We will set out our theoretical and technical developments underway and will conclude with our needs for collaboration with your academic community., Comment: in French language

Let $I(b,d,k)$ be the subseries of the harmonic series keeping only those denominators having exactly $k$ occurrences of the digit $d$ in base $b$. We prove the existence of an asymptotic development to all orders in descending powers of $b$, for $d$ and $k$ fixed, of $I(b,d,k)-b \log(b)$ or rather, if $k=0$ and $d>0$, of $I(b,d,0)- (b\log(b) - b\log(1+1/d))$. We give explicitly, according to cases, the first four or first five terms. The coefficients of these developments involve the values of the Riemann zeta function at positive integers., Comment: 33 pages. The digital document evolves rapidly and spectacularly in its structure and information content conveyed on networks and information systems. Generally understood as a neutral support for information carrying a semantic value, the digital document nevertheless carries parameters that denote certain cultural and linguistic values specific to its creator. This document attempts to emphasize some technical aspects that reflect this intrinsic identity of electronic documents. The objective is to define a set of parameters and recommendations capable of preserving the digital document a cultural and linguistic identity which will identify it to its potential users in open and distributed information systems. Ultimately, it aims to offer "good practice" recommendations for producers of fully or partially Arabic digital documents., Comment: in French language. E-learning is becoming a global phenomenon. Learning Arabic (or Arabic dialects), or learning one or several variants of Berber can be understood from a very local perspective (in the Maghreb for instance) or in the wider framework of the diaspora or even more broadly in a global world context (in case a Japanese or a Russian learns Arabic and Berber). Resources for distance learning must then be created and potentially used in any international cultural and linguistic context. This implies that the resources created for such perspective should cope with the general standards framework of the ISO / IEC JTC1SC36, and even beyond the scope of this standardization instance., Comment: in French language. We are convinced of the usefulness of sketches and diagrams during mathematical work but the observation is made in our practices that they are not spontaneously used by students. In order to study the understanding and use of sketches by mathematics students, we designed and then proposed a test at different university levels. The test consists of five exercises. The first concerns different representation registers of a set of numbers, the second on a graphic proof of an implicative algebraic proposition and the last three on the graphic approch to the notions of injectivity, surjectivity, bijectivity in the context of the analysis. The sketches, proposed or requested in each exercise, are intended to be aids to changes of register and reasoning. We present what motivated the choices and developments of the exercises then we analyze the results of these tests. In each case, we see difficulties in understanding and the sketches proposed, which leads to think that the sketch must be the subject of specific work at the university level., Comment: in French language

Let $\overline{\mathbb{Q}}$ be an algebraic closure of $\mathbb{Q}$ and $\mathbb{Q}^{tr}$ be the subfield of $\overline{\mathbb{Q}}$ obtained by taking the union of all totally real number fields. For any prime $p\geq 3$, let $F_p/\mathbb{Q}$ be the Fermat curve of equation $x^p+y^p+z^p=0$. In 1996, Pop has shown that the field $\mathbb{Q}^{tr}$ is large. In particular, the set $F_p(\mathbb{Q}^{tr})$ of the points of $F_p$ rational over $\mathbb{Q}^{tr}$ is infinite. How to explicit non-trivial points $(xyz\neq 0$) in $F_p(\mathbb{Q}^{tr})$ ? If one has $p\geq 5$, it seems that the only points already known in $F_p(\mathbb{Q}^{tr})$ are those of $F_p(\mathbb{Q})$ and they are trivial. In this paper, we investigate this question in case $p=5$. There are no totally real fields whose degree over $\mathbb{Q}$ is at most $5$ over which $F_5$ has non-trivial points. We propose here to explicit infinitely many points of $F_5$ rational over totally real fields of degree $6$ over $\mathbb{Q}$., Comment: in French language

Physics - Classical Physics - Abstract
Polymers are increasingly used in the transport sector due to their many advantages; lightness, corrosion resistance, ease to process... However, most of them have limited mechanical properties. To improve these latter, one of the solutions is the addition of nano-reinforcements, this type of material is called nanocomposite. The particularity of these nanocomposites comes from the influence of the interphase, which is an interaction zone between the nanofillers and the matrix. It is therefore imperative to take it into account in the mechanical prediction models.Several analytical schemes are available to study nanocomposites. Some models use a serial or parallel representation of the phases (rule of mixture, Ji model, ...), while others rely on the mean field homogenization approach (Eshelby, Self-consistent, Mori-Tanaka, Double Inclusion, ...).However, directly observing the interphase and its properties experimentally is complex due to its size. Consequently, it is laborious to check the consistency of its consideration in analytical schemes. To compare these schemes, some limit cases of the interphase are studied. A numerical model is also used as a reference for two nanocomposites with distinct interphases., Comment: in French language. In Search of the Wave is a computer-generated film made in 2013, highlighting the computation of images through computer simulation, and through text and voice. Originating from a screening of the film at the Gustave Eiffel University, the article presents a reflection on research-creation in and from algorithmic images. Fundamentally, what is it in this research-creation -- especially in research on algorithmic imagery -- that can be set in motion? Without fully distinguishing between what would be research on one hand and creation on the other, we focus on characterizing forms, aesthetics, or theories that contribute to possible shifts. The inventory of these possibilities is precisely the challenge of the text: from mathematics to image and visualization, from the birth of generative aesthetics to the coding related to pioneering works (recoding), or from indexing new aesthetics to new forms of critical production., Comment: in French language

The development of digital humanities has opened new perspectives in the history of Islam: whether dealing with thin or sometimes vast source corpora (such as S\=ira, al-Tbar\=i, al-Dahab\=i, etc.), these tools allow us to approach texts much more effectively from a statistical perspective, in order to support more general hypotheses and move beyond case studies. Drawing on the work of a number of researchers as well as our own, we propose to study the potentialities and limitations posed by computer methods for the history of medieval Islam, keeping in mind that the conclusions may prove useful to researchers of other periods. We will particularly emphasize two tools: the construction and use of relational databases, and more recently, the tagging of sources, with the stated goal of addressing some of the problems posed by the previous method., Comment: in French language

The article aims at identifying what, from a structural point of view, AI based automatic translators cannot fully capture. It focuses on the machine's mistakes, in order to try to explain its causes. The biblical story of Ca\"in and Abel has been chosen because of its rich interpretive and critical tradition, but also because of its semantic difficulty. The investigation begins with the observation, for the translation of this text, of the language pairs and interfaces offered by the best known machine translation services (Google Translate, DeepL). A typology of the most frequent translation errors is then established. Finally, contemporary translations are compared, in order to underline the unique contribution of each. In conclusion, the article suggests a revision of translation theory and, corArtificial Intelligence, Translation, Limitations, Interpretation, Comparison, Unicityelatively, a reformulation of its technology concerning cultural texts., Comment: in French language

This paper presents the proof-of-concept of the first automatic voice assistant ever built in Wolof language, the main vehicular language spoken in Senegal. This voicebot is the result of a collaborative research project between Orange Innovation in France, Orange Senegal (aka Sonatel) and ADNCorp, a small IT company based in Dakar, Senegal. The purpose of the voicebot is to provide information to Orange customers about the Sargal loyalty program of Orange Senegal by using the most natural mean to communicate: speech. The voicebot receives in input the customer's oral request that is then processed by a SLU system to reply to the customer's request using audio recordings. Given the increasing pressures exerted by climate change on small-scale agriculture, the importance of participatory modelling methodologies that can consider both the human and environmental components of these systems has become more and more evident. The current study presents a socioeconomic system dynamics model of the food and environmental systems of the predominantly Indigenous region of Tz'ol{\"o}j Ya', Guatemala. The model was built in a participatory manner with stakeholders from the region and was then coupled to an external crop growth model before being applied to the analysis of the impact of future climate change and its potential interactions with various stakeholder-proposed policies. The analysis identified several feedback loops between environmental and human components of the system that can lead to counterintuitive responses to the proposed policies. At the same time, the use of an external crop growth model allowed for a more realistic, yet still easily implementable, representation of the impacts of climate change on crop production. This analysis is the first to use a socioeconomic system dynamics model coupled with an external crop growth model to analyse food security in the context of a local socio-environmental food system., Comment: in French language

The digitisation campaigns carried out by libraries and archives in recent years have facilitated access to documents in their collections. However, exploring and exploiting these documents remain difficult tasks due to the sheer quantity of documents available for consultation. In this article, we show how the semantic annotation of the textual content of study corpora of archival documents allow to facilitate their exploitation and valorisation. First, we present a methodological framework for the construction of new interfaces based on textual semantics, then address the current technological obstacles and their potential solutions. Nursing staff are particularly affected by this reality, with a patient/nursing staff ratio so imbalanced that it directly affects the quality of care and the well-being of nurses. This article examines in detail the workload of nursing staff, shedding light on the various factors influencing this workload, including the type of care provided, the characteristics of patients and nursing staff, as well as the organizational context. Furthermore, different methods of calculating and estimating workload are analyzed, ranging from workload calculation systems to advanced predictive models. Computer Science - Computers and Society - Abstract
Language models (LM or LLM) are increasingly deployed in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications, but the question arises as to whether they can be a common resource managed and maintained by a community of users. Indeed, the dominance of private companies with exclusive access to massive data and language processing resources can create inequalities and biases in LM, as well as obstacles to innovation for those who do not have the same resources necessary for their implementation. In this contribution, we examine the concept of the commons and its relevance for thinking about LM. We highlight the potential benefits of treating the data and resources needed to create LMs as commons, including increased accessibility, equity, and transparency in the development and use of AI technologies. Quantitative Biology - Other Quantitative Biology - Abstract
From 1994, we began to use ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay) in the diagnosis of PCP. This is aELISA for capturing antigens (PACE) possibly contained in the samples. The advantage of this test comes from the fact that it is completelyindependent of cell cultures. In addition, it is fast: the result can be obtained in less than 36 hours. A study of its standardizationcarried out in Australia gave a sensitivity (Se) of 99%, a specificity (Sp) close to 100% and a negative predictive value (NPV) of 99.7%. Due to its high specificity, the test gives a negative result to all true negatives, in other words, the negatives of the test correspond to thetrue negatives. A variant of the capture ELISA, the CTB-ELISA or complex trapping blocking ELISA allows the quantity of antibodies to be measureddirected against the non-structural protein, p80 (or NS3), contained in animal sera. Evaluation of the level of anti-NS3 antibodiesconstitutes an excellent assessment of the level of neutralizing antibodies because the correlation coefficient between these two types of antibodies, the firstobtained by CTB-ELISA, and the second by serum neutralization (VNT), is very high (r = 0.98).The two tests being capable, one of detecting pestiviral antigens and the other of measuring antibodies specific to each of thegroups, constitutes an excellent tool for the qualitative control of anti-CSF vaccine., Comment: in French language

The Cartographic Assessment of Ecological Potential (CARPO) allows users to characterize the ecological context of a group of sites at several scales (its perimeter and surrounding area) and on the basis of 4 themes: biodiversity zonings, land use (major types of environment, natural character and degree of permeability of territories), ecological connectivity (biodiversity reservoirs and corridors, non-fragmentation of the sector studied), as well as the richness of the territory in terms of heritage species. It is based on a battery of 8 indicators linked to these themes and a system of evaluation thresholds, used to define 3 levels of ecological potential (average, strong and very strong) for each indicator and at each scale of study. The level of potentiality reflects the importance that an ecological element takes on in a study area, and therefore the degree of contribution and responsibility of a site in maintaining this element favorable to biodiversity. It also translates into an alert level for biodiversity that needs to be taken into account at a site. The ecological diagnosis is materialized by means of a cartographic atlas containing a set of commented maps and figures, as well as evaluation grids and radars for the various indicators.CARPO is a decision-making tool, as it enables users to compare the ecological potential within a site with that of its surroundings, in order to define preservation, management or restoration actions; and to compare the extent of potential between the different sites in the group, with a goal of prioritizing action. This guide presents the methodological framework for applying CARPO to a group of sites., Comment: in French language

Quantitative Biology - Populations and Evolution - Abstract
The Black Grouse (Lyrurus tetrix) is an emblematic alpine species with high conservation importance. The population size of these mountain bird tends to decline on the reference sites and shows differences according to changes in local landscape characteristics. Habitat changes are at the centre of the identified pressures impacting part or all of its life cycle, according to experts. Hence, an approach to monitor population dynamics, is trough modelling the favourable habitats of Black Grouse breeding (nesting sites). Then, coupling modelling with multi-source remote sensing data (medium and very high spatial resolution), allowed the implementation of a spatial distribution model of the species. Indeed, the extraction of variables from remote sensing helped to describe the area studied at appropriate spatial and temporal scales: horizontal and vertical structure (heterogeneity), functioning (vegetation indices), phenology (seasonal or inter-annual dynamics) and biodiversity. An annual time series of radiometric indices (NDVI, NDWI, BI {\ldots}) from Sentinel-2 has made it possible to generate Dynamic Habitat Indices (DHIs) to derive phenological indications on the nature and dynamics of natural habitats. In addition, very high resolution images (SPOT6) provided access to the fine structure of natural habitats, i.e. the vertical and horizontal organisation by states identified as elementary (mineral, herbaceous, low and high woody). Indeed, one of the essential limiting factors for brood rearing is the presence of a well-developed herbaceous or ericaceous stratum in the northern Alps and larch forests in the southern region. A deep learning model was used to classify elementary strata. Finally, Biomod2 R platform, using an ensemble approach, was applied to model, the favourable habitat of Black Grouse reproduction. Of all the models, Random Forest and Extreme Boosted Gradient are the best performing, with TSS and ROC scores close to 1. For the SDM, we selected only Random Forest models (ensemble modelling) because of their low susceptibility to overfitting and coherent predictions (after comparing model predictions). In this ensemble model, the most important explanatory variables are altitude, the proportion of heathland, and the DHI (NDVI Max and NDWI Max). Results from the habitat model can be used as an operational tool for monitoring forest landscape shifts and changes. In addition, to delimiting potential areas to protect the species habitat, which constitute a valuable decision-making tool for conservation management of mountain open forest., Comment: in French language

Computer Science - Information Retrieval - Abstract
Patents and scientific papers provide an essential source for measuring science and technology output, to be used as a basis for the most varied scientometric analyzes. Authors' and inventors' names are the key identifiers to carry out these analyses, which however, run up against the issue of disambiguation. By extension identifying inventors who are also academic authors is a non-trivial challenge. We propose a method using the International Patent Classification (IPC) and the IPCCAT API to assess the degree of similarity of patents and papers abstracts of a given inventor, in order to match both types of documents. The method is developed and manually qualified based on three corpora of patents extracted from the international EPO database Espacenet. Among a set of 4679 patents and 7720 inventors, we obtain 2501 authors. The proposed algorithm solves the general problem of disambiguation with an error rate lower than 5%., Comment: in French language

Computer Science - Artificial Intelligence ,Computer Science - Multiagent Systems - Abstract
In this work, we proposed a new dynamic distributed planning approach that is able to take into account the changes that the agent introduces on his set of actions to be planned in order to take into account the changes that occur in his environment. Our approach fits into the context of distributed planning for distributed plans where each agent can produce its own plans. According to our approach the generation of the plans is based on the satisfaction of the constraints by the use of the genetic algorithms. Our approach is to generate, a new plan by each agent, whenever there is a change in its set of actions to plan. This in order to take into account the new actions introduced in its new plan. In this new plan, the agent takes, each time, as a new action set to plan all the old un-executed actions of the old plan and the new actions engendered by the changes and as a new initial state; the state in which the set of actions of the agent undergoes a change. In our work, we used a concrete case to illustrate and demonstrate the utility of our approach., Comment: Master's thesis, in French language

Computer Science - Computers and Society - Abstract
Academic institutions and their staff use, adapt and create software. We're thinking of business tools used to carry out their mission: teaching management (Moodle) or subject teaching support (such as Maxima for formal calculus), for example. We're talking about software resulting from research work, designed by a researcher or a team as part of a research project (funded by ANR, Europe, etc. or not) or as a research service for a third party. These projects can last for decades (such as the Coq program proof assistant project, or the GPAC multimedia content distribution platform). We discuss why this software is produced, with what resources, the interest that institutions derive from it, what we call the ''valorization'' of software resulting from scientific research. The latter is multifaceted, as are the missions of scientific institutions: social value (contribution to the world heritage of knowledge), financial value (contracts), economic value (business creation), scientific value (publication), image value (visibility of the institution among target audiences: students, researchers, companies, prescribers)., Comment: in French language

We give an effective lower bound of the cardinality of the set $\{n\in\mathcal{A};\,p|n\Longrightarrow p\leq y\}$ under the condition of a good knowledge of the level of distribution of the set $\mathcal{A}$. In this article, we explore the notion of infinity by studying Cantor's contribution to this field. A brief history of set theory is given. As an example of infinity, we consider Hilbert's famous hotel. A graphical construction is used to demonstrate the countability of rationals. Cantor's diagonal procedure is explored, demonstrating that the infinity of real numbers is greater than that of integers. There is therefore a hierarchy of infinities, enabling us to elaborate on the continuum hypothesis, which remains an unsolved problem in mathematics., Comment: 14 pages, in French language, 4 figures,5 Pictures

Computer Science - Data Structures and Algorithms - Abstract
The elasticity of the DTW metric provides a more flexible comparison between time series and is used in numerous machine learning domains such as classification or clustering. However, it does not align the measurements at the beginning and end of time series if they have a shift occurring right at the start of one series, with the omitted part appearing at the end of that series. Due to the cyclicity of such series - which lack a definite beginning or end - we rely on the Cyclic DTW approach to propose a less computationally expensive approximation of this calculation method. This approximation will then be employed in conjunction with the K-Means clustering method., Comment: in French language. Recent advances in material technology and in micro- and nano-electronics have profoundly changed the design of intracranial electrophysiology electrodes. It is now possible to manufacture electrodes that record cortical activity at a spatial resolution that was previously unthinkable. This high spatial resolution enables recording of the functional structures of the brain, and differentiation of the activity of the different types of neurons composing them. In this paper, we present a review of the different types of electrodes now available, and then suggest one of the first applications for such high resolution electrodes, namely a means to better characterise the mechanisms that generate focal seizures in epileptics. Finally, we reflect more broadly on prospects for their future use., Comment: Published in the Fyssen Annals 2021 in French and English. Article in French: pages 1-7. Article in English: pages 7-13

This paper explores two critical infrastructure proposals as alternatives to the current state of the Internet protocols: IPFS (Interplanetary File System) and Scuttlebutt, highlighting the political a priori and debates of these technical enterprises. To do so, I propose to analyze the discourses of the developers of these two systems in the mode of a critical discourse analysis. This article highlights a particular form of criticism of Internet regimes: infrastructural criticism, and highlights its variety through a comparative study. Through these two case studies, we will see how different alternatives to the current spatio-temporal implementations of the Internet allow us to identify the agency dimensions of these acts of hijacking and substitution, characterizing two quite different approaches to decentralized protocols, yet linked by a technical similarity., Comment: in French language

Statistics - Applications - Abstract
Event of the same type occurring several times for one individual (recurrent events) are present in various domains (industrial systems reliability, episodes of unemployment, political conflicts, chronic diseases episodes). Analysis of such kind of data should account for the whole recurrence process dynamics rather than only focusing on the number of observed events. Statistical models for recurrent events analysis are developed in the counting process probabilistic framework. One of the often-used models is the Andersen-Gill model, a generalization of the well-known Cox model for durations, which assumes that the baseline intensity of the recurrence process is time-dependent and is adjusted for covariates. For an individual i with covariates Xi, the intensity is as follows: $\lambda$_{ik}(t;$\theta$) = $\lambda$_0(t) exp (X_i $\beta$). The baseline intensity can be specified parametrically, in a form of Weibull: $\lambda$_0 (t) = $\gamma$_{1} $\gamma$_{2} t^{$\gamma$_2-1}, with $\gamma$1 scale parameter et $\gamma$2 shape parameter. However, the observed covariates are often insufficient to explain the observed heterogeneity in data. This is often the case of clinical trials data containing information on patients. In this article a mixture model for recurrent events analysis is proposed. This model allows to account for unobserved heterogeneity and to cluster individuals according to their recurrence process. The intensity of the process is parametrically specified within each class and depend on observed covariates. Thus, the intensity becomes specific to class k: $\lambda$_{ik} (t; $\theta$_k) = $\gamma$_{1k} $\gamma$_{2k} t^{$\gamma$_{2k}-1} exp (X_i $\beta$_k). The model parameters are estimated by the Maximum Likelihood method, using the EM algorithm. The BIC criterion is employed to choose the optimal number of classes. Model feasibility is verified by Monte Carlo simulations. An application to real data concerning hospital readmissions of elderly patients is proposed. The proposed model feasibility is empirically verified (the optimization algorithm converges, providing non-biased estimates). The real data application allows to identify two clinically relevant classes of patients., Comment: in French, 54es Journ{\'e}es de Statistique, Jul 2023, Bruxelles (BEL), France
