The normal operation of a integrated hub station is of great significance for the safe operation of the entire city’s transportation network. Accurately monitoring the passenger flow operation status of the station is the fundamental basis for achieving scientific management and control of passenger flow. In response to the urgent need for accurate and real-time detection of passenger flow in station passageways, a Yolov7-based improved Deep-Sort algorithm is proposed to detect and track bi-directional passenger flow in the passageways of integrated hub stations. Based on the Yolov7 detection algorithm, the SimAM attention mechanism was introduced to improve the accuracy of detecting passenger flow in the passageways. On the basis of the Deep-Sort tracking algorithm, the Kalman Filter (KF) method was optimized to make the tracking box of the target more accurate. Meanwhile, the Fast-ReID method was used to improve the long-term tracking of targets, thereby improving the value of IDF1. This algorithm can help to achieve real-time and accurate detection and tracking of bi-directional passenger flow in station passageways. In the event of an abnormal situation, the station staff can react rapidly to improve the station’s operational safety.

Passageways are critical gateways in maritime trade, providing efficient routes for global commerce. Disruptions such as natural disasters in key passageways can threaten global trade. This paper proposes an indicator-based framework for analyzing passageway disruptions using Automated Information System (AIS). This framework enables monitoring of transit operations, voyages and port calls. To demonstrate its potential, we apply the proposed framework to the Panama Canal drought in 2023. Results reveal that the reduction in transit capacity, increased waiting times, and draught limitations have disrupted traditional shipping routes, forcing vessels to seek alternative passageways, thereby increasing travel times and shipping costs. These disruptions have not only affected the efficiency of global trade but have also contributed to economic challenges such as inflation and decreased cargo volumes at major ports.

Intensive construction methods offer benefits for metro station development, yet they present challenges for seismic design due to the spatially asymmetric configuration of passageway-shaft structures. In this study, a detailed numerical model of a station-passageway-shaft structure system built using intensive construction methods was developed and the deformation and damage modes under seismic loadings were analyzed. The results indicate that inconsistent deformation between the shaft and the station generates interaction through the connecting passageway, leading to damage near the opening of the station structure and both ends of the connecting passageway Damage is more severe under longitudinal excitation. Compared with the opening plan that spans four segments, the opening plan that spans five segments exacerbates the overall degree of damage to the structure system. Under transverse excitation, the presence of interior structures intensifies the damage to the station and connecting passageway, while with such internal structure in place the impact is relatively minor under longitudinal excitation. Reinforcement with steel segments near the station opening can appreciably attenuate the damage. In contrast, introducing flexible joints at both ends of the connecting passageway intensifies the damage. Hence, reinforcement using steel segments emerges as an optimal seismic mitigation strategy.

Introduction: RefluxStop is an implantable device for laparoscopic surgical treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) to restore and maintain lower esophageal sphincter and angle of His anatomy without encircling and putting pressure on the food passageway, thereby avoiding side effects such as dysphagia and bloating seen with traditional fundoplication. This study reports the clinical outcomes with RefluxStop at 4 years following implantation of the device. Methods: A prospective, single arm, multicenter clinical investigation analyzing safety and effectiveness of the RefluxStop device in 50 patients with chronic GERD. Results: Available data are presented for 44 patients at 4 years with the addition of three patients at 3 years carried forward. At 4 years, median GERD-HRQL score was 90% reduced compared to baseline. Two patients (2/44) used regular daily proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) despite subsequent 24-h pH monitoring off PPI therapy yielding normal results. There were no device-related adverse events (AEs), esophageal dilations, migrations, or explants during the entire study period. AEs reported between 1 and 4 years were as follows: one subject with heartburn and a pathologic pH result with device positioned too low at surgery; one subject with dysphagia, thus, 46/47 patients reported no dysphagia-related AEs between years 1 and 4. Two patients (2/47) were dissatisfied with treatment despite normal 24-h pH monitoring, of whom one had manometry-verified dysmotility at 6 months, indicating dissatisfaction for reasons other than acid reflux. Conclusion: These results confirm the excellent and already published 1-year results as stable in the long-term, supporting the safety and effectiveness of the RefluxStop device in treating GERD for over 4 years. GERD-HRQL score, pH testing, and PPI usage indicate treatment success without dysphagia or gas-bloating and only minimal incidence of other AEs. This favorably low rate of AEs is likely attributable to RefluxStop’s dynamic physiologic interaction and non-encircling nature.

The Straits' water facilitates transport and fosters customary connection and trans/national notions of kin. In this watery world, how might Torres Strait Islanders' understandings complicate and/or contribute to (synbio) scientific concepts of islands as contained, ‘watertight’ field sites? And how is a changing climate and rising sea levels impacting identities in the Torres Strait and relationships in the region? As intra‐ and inter‐national island anthropology, this article considers how synbio approaches to water may engage with the hydro‐history and fluid future of Torres Strait Islander identities and cross‐cultural socio‐environmental responsibilities.

Drawing together the rich cross-disciplinary literature on resources, and through the lens of cumulative disadvantage and resource passageways, we review the individual, organizational, and institutional factors that influence the resources available to people in late working life. The review provides a more nuanced perspective on older workers as agentic actors. We highlight how agency can be constrained via a person’s resources, which are shaped by structural influences. Knowledge of structural influences on resources is important for understanding the experiences of older workers and their continued effectiveness in the work domain. We outline avenues for future research on resources and aging at work that incorporates these multi-level influences.

According to the IABSE vessel collision model, the vessel collision force is determined. In order to improve the structural durability, high-performance epoxy steel bars are used in the splash zone. The cable-anchor beams of the towers are made of weathering steel. From the clinical point of view, a proper diagnosis of spigelian, inguinal and femoral hernias may be relevant for orienting the patient’s management, as these conditions carry a different risk of complications and require specific approaches and treatments. An in-depth knowledge of the anatomy of the lower abdominal wall is, therefore, an essential prerequisite to perform a targeted ultrasound examination and discriminate among different types of regional hernias. The aim of this review is to provide a detailed analysis of the fascial architecture and aponeurotic passageways of the abdominal wall through which spigelian, inguinal and femoral hernias extrude, by means of schematic drawings, ultrasound images and video clips. A reasoned landmark-based ultrasound scanning technique is described to allow a prompt and reliable identification of these pathologic conditions.

With the growing demand and land use constraints, these are to be well planned, managed and designed. In intercity railways station infrastructure, passageways are confined and elevated elements for pedestrian movements to access among platforms to alight and board trains. Provision of appropriate width for passageway is of greater importance regarding comfort, convenient, evacuation, efficient, aesthetic, cost-effective, environment-friendly and well integrated with other elements of infrastructure. In the present work, pedestrian flow characteristics variation on passageway and its width effect is studied. Results showed that, under normal conditions, flow rate (ped/m/min) and mean walking speed (m/min) reduces with increase in width (m). For a given flow rate, volume (ped/min) of pedestrians served on passageway increases with increase in width. Statistical tests revealed that there exists a significant difference in mean walking speed of pedestrians on passageways with different widths.

Membrane separation is a promising technology for extracting temperature-sensitive organic molecules from solvents. However, a lack of membrane materials that are permeable toward organic solvents yet highly selective curtails large-scale membrane applications. To overcome the trade-off between flux and selectivity, additional molecular transportation pathways are constructed in ultrathin polyamide membranes using highly hydrostable metal organic frameworks with diverse functional surface architectures. Additional passageways enhance water permeance by 84% (15.4 L m–2h–1bar–1) with nearly 100% rose bengal rejection and 97.6% azithromycin rejection, while showing excellent separation performance in ethyl acetate, ketones, and alcohols. These unique composite membranes remain stable in both aqueous and organic solvent environments. This immediately finds application in the purification of aqueous mixtures containing organic soluble compounds, such as antibiotics, during pharmaceutical manufacturing.

The impact of graphite dust on structural equipment is a potential safety hazard in HTGR. The present study focuses on the graphite particle deposition process on the deflector in the inlet passageway of intermediate heat exchanger and analyzes the effect of particle size on inertial deposition and diffusion deposition. Meanwhile, the particle rebound behavior is considered when the particle impacts the wall. To determine the relevant parameters of the rebound model, the experiments about adhesion are carried out and validated. Then the flow field is simulated in the inlet passageway of intermediate heat exchanger based on k–ε turbulent model, and particle trajectories are predicted by a discrete particle model with rebound boundary. The results show that adhesion force by measures is obviously smaller than theoretical model. In addition, the particle deposition rate decreases first and then increases, and the rebound model makes d eposition results more actual.

The hybrid battery thermal management system (BTMS), the combination of an active thermal management system (TMS) and a passive TMS based on phase change material (PCM) will keep the battery temperature within a suitable range while possessing a greater cooling effect in comparison with a passive TMS and using less energy than an active TMS. Throughout this research, the structure role of the active TMS that comprises an air cooling system is investigated. To this end, nine case studies possessing three different cooling duct structures and three different cold air stream pressure differences are simulated and studied. The outcomes indicate that the rising of the temperature, even for the worst-case scenario, is safe, acceptable, and smooth-enough for thermal management considerations. The maximum temperature of the cells never exceeded 314 K, showing the perfect capability of proposed hybrid BTMS. Furthermore, one can notice that the more powerful the inlet air stream or the more length of cooling ducts through the PCM volume, the lower battery surface temperature is experienced. Additionally, in all simulated cases, the maximum temperature difference of the cells within the battery module does not go beyond 1.6 °C, demonstrating the excellent aptitude of proposed hybrid BTMS in creating uniform temperature distribution within the battery pack. The machining method of effortless, low–cost and high effective polishing called abrasive flow machining (AFM) is developed to obtain high quality products for surface polishing. However, a smoother surface is not easily created after polishing since one–way motion of abrasive media in traditional AFM. Hence, this study designs a novel helical core to perform multiple flowing paths of an abrasive medium to improve the surface roughness (SR). In this investigation, Taguchi method is adopted to find out the optimal parameters of a helical core first; then, hole with or without a helical core is studied to verify the polishing effect of a helical passageway. The results represent an excellent solution that the helical passageway performed better in reducing roughness improvement ratio (RIR) by approximately 77% compared to RIR near 60% for the original circular passageway. Moreover, this study also demonstrates the efficiency of the helical passageway in surface roughness uniformity based on the percentage of improvement ratio around 70%.

We have long outgrown the capacity of the accepted clinical models of trauma, and a paradigm shift in our thinking is long overdue. The data on traumatic stress were posited from a certain cognitive-behavioural viewpoint, with particular emotional components based almost in their entirety on western, mostly white individuals seeking treatment for posttraumatic stress disorder, and focusing on that time frame. As such, mechanisms such as fear and emotional conditioning theory and the ways traumas are encoded in memory only partially explain trauma response. Conservation of resources theory posits that severe trauma responses occur when personal, social or material resources, which are key to the self, survival and social attachments, are lost severely and rapidly. These resources tend to aggregate or fail to aggregate in what conservation of resources theory terms ‘resource caravans’; they do not exist in isolation. Because resource caravans are created and sustained within the environmental and social context of resource caravan passageways, environmental context is fundamental to trauma response. It is argued that resource loss and the maintaining of resource caravans are the best predictors of trauma response, both in terms of posttraumatic stress disorder and in terms of the idioms of trauma distress across cultures.

Mutual help groups among Kuria people have emerged as institutions for facilitating exchange through relationally oriented expansion that enables the rise of new economic niches and social identities. A complex intermingling of diverse organizational features has enabled the associations to engage novel types of resources and categories of participants. The paper examines hybrid and haphazard elements of formalization that occur with the regularizing of work reciprocities and the increasing use of monetary loans and savings. Exploring culturally relevant metaphors of life-sustaining flows and passageways, indispensable for individual and social growth, the article investigates the value conversions mediated by the groups and their impacts on wider public spaces in Tanzanian communities. RÉSUMÉ:L’article s’intéresse aux pratiques de coopération et de mutualité qui sont reproduites dans les groupes contemporains d’entraide en Tanzanie post-socialiste. Les institutions locales d’assistance mutuelle prennent de plus en plus d’importance dans la régulation de l’accès aux ressources et la redéfinition des socialités dans des contextes d’instabilité persistante. Chez les Kuria, les groupes d’entraide sont devenus des institutions de facilitation de l’échange à travers une expansion orientée vers le relationnel qui favorise l’essor de nouvelles niches économiques et identités sociales. On the basis of unfavorable geology of a passageway in subway station to cross urban trunk road with heavy traffic flow in Chengdu city, the comparison of two different driving methods for the underground passageway with three arches and two pillars is carried out in the paper. The result shows that both center drift-pillar method and partial bench-cut method can be used to build the passageway in the subway station. But the latter is superior to the former in reducing construction cost, risk and timescale. While the former is more efficient in controlling ground subsidence. The tubular roof protection is also designed to reinforce the shear strength of soil above the crown of the passageway before excavating the poor surrounding soil. The inventive driving procedure of partial bench-cut method presented in the paper can be utilized to guide the rational design and economical construction of shallow passageway for subway station to cross urban trunk road in weak geological strata.

With regard to this concept, in this work, MnFe2O4-decorated reduced graphene oxide (MG), coupling with chitosan (CS), were used to obtain aerogels with a radial passageway. Morphology and catalytic effectiveness of the resultant CS/MG aerogels were characterized in detail. It was found that the as-prepared aerogels presented high activity in degrading organic dyes (for example, methylene blue). In addition, the reaction kinetic was comprehensively studied and followed the pseudo-first-order model. Based on the experimental results, the maximum decomposition degree of methylene blue solution containing the resultant aerogel was up to 83.9% in 240 min. Therefore, the resultant aerogel acts as a potential catalyst for degradation of methylene blue present in water.

Based on a conceptual framework and a survey of 258 persons in the hotel industry in Quebec, this study examines how work-leisure conflict contributes in increasing job burnout and intention to leave. Also, it examines the moderating role of “leisure benefit systems” on the effect of WLC on burnout and intention to leave. Using SEM and critical ratios for differences between groups, the results indicate that WLC has a positive effect on burnout and intention to leave. Moreover, our study reveals perception of need for subsidized recreation and extended vacations time moderates and increases the effect of WLC on depersonalization. Implementing practices such as flexibility in working hours, as well as leisure benefits could help employees to balance work and leisure.

A relative full-scale numerical simulation has been conducted on oscillating heat pipe(OHP) with single passageway(S-OHP)and double passageway(D-OHP). Mathematical model for studying the influence on the heat transfer performance of the number of passageway was built, including turbulence model, volume of fluid model, continue surface force model, and heat and mass transfer model caused by phase change, and all of which were based on the consideration of gas-liquid interface, wall adhesion angle, surface tension and process of phase change. Results showed that, on the one hand, strong coherence of the initial gas-liquid distribution, as well as the flow phenomena during boiling stage, were found between S-OHP and D-OHP, on the other hand, the heat-transfer capability of the D-OHP is slightly higher than the S-OHP.

Conventional AFM have difficulty achieving uniform roughness of an axial distribution in circular hole polishing due to limited unitary axial motion of abrasive media. Therefore, this work develops mechanism designs for different passageways to obtain multiple flowing paths of an abrasive medium, whose flowing behavior enhances polishing effectiveness by increasing the abrasive surface area and radial shear forces. The motion of the abrasive medium is studied by utilizing the design of the mold cores, which mold shapes include the circular passageway and helical passageway. The optimum design of the different passageways is then verified using CFD-ACE+ numerical software. Analytical results indicate that the optimum design is the mechanism with a passageway of six helices. Furthermore, surface roughness measurements demonstrate the increase in uniformity and the roughness improvement rate (RIR). Experimental results for surface roughness indicate that roughness deviation of six helices passageway of approximately 0.1001 m Ra is significantly better than those on a circular passageway of around 0.1760 m Ra. Additionally, the six helices passageway is also superior to circular passageway in reducing roughness improvement rate (RIR) by roughly 85% compared with RIR 75% for the circular passageway.
