Transgender and gender diverse youth (TGDY) can be a challenging population to reach because of limitations related to parental/guardian consent and concerns about privacy. This pilot study's purpose was to assess the feasibility of recruiting a US nation-wide longitudinal sample of TGDY through social media, and to compare participants who completed the Wave 1 survey only to TGDY who completed both Wave 1 and Wave 2 surveys. Adolescents (aged 14–17 years) who identified as TGDY were recruited through social media and invited to complete two online surveys across a 3-month period. Surveys included measures of mental health, substance use, and community connection. The Wave 1 sample included 252 TGDY, with 183 (73%) retained at Wave 2. There were few differences (i.e., gender identity; sex assigned at birth) between Wave 1–only participants and those retained at Wave 2. Findings demonstrate the feasibility of recruiting a U.S. nation-wide longitudinal sample of TGDY through social media, providing an important platform for conducting research to improve well-being of TGDY. This qualitative-interpretive study reflects on the experience of two MSMEs that adapted rapidly to meet the need for protection products and maintain their production in the midst of confinement decreed by the city and country authorities, as a containment measure for the pandemic caused by the Covid-19, and where design was a key factor. The different experiences are organized taken the Product sociotechnical Cycles (PstC) model as a conceptual basis, analyzing the case studies from the organizational capabilities of industrial design, as well as from design-driven innovation. The article presents a study on the identification of gastrointestinal parasites and ectoparasites in Bradypus variegatus and Choloepus Hoffmanni sloths in Costa Rica. It mentions that the examination of the fecal samples of the sloths through the two diagnostic techniques such as sedimentation and Sheather's flotation, in which they contain gastrointestinal parasites such as Coccidia, Cestoda, and Spiruroidea. It states that Bradypus variegates contains Coccidia and Cestoda, while Choloepus Hoffmanni is dominated by Spiruroidea. It also cites that six among the 27 sloths examined were found to have dermal problems such as sarcoptes scabiei mites and amblyomma varium ticks.

Marine debris, in particular plastic debris and debris related to fishing activities, have an impact on marine mammals and seabirds. In marine-coastal species such as otariids, we can detect the incidence of these interactions through land-based observations. In this study, we recorded and described interactions between marine debris and the otariids Arctocephalus australis and Otaria byronia in a natural protected area in Peru, according to age class categories. Between 2016 and 2020, we recorded 151 animals that were directly impacted and/or were observed interacting with marine debris. Residual collars from fishing gear, ropes, plastic bags and unidentified material were recorded. Direct interactions with debris at colonies (e.g., plastic bags) were also recorded, as well as animals evidenced interacting with hooks. The age class category and species with the highest number of individuals impacted by residual collars were adult female A. australis and subadult male O. byronia. Single-use plastics were the most commonly bitten/moved waste by animals in the reserve. In the case of hooks, these were mostly lodged in the mouths of otariids. Our results highlight the importance of continuing to promote segregation at source, as well as the correct disposal of waste, locally and globally, to mitigate impacts on marine fauna.
