Learning from doing: Chances and constraints of studying medical devices through usability methods in field studies.

The article focuses on the challenges of evaluating clinical devices by using usability techniques in field studies. The study was done on an anaesthesia device used at a children's hospital, where the benefits and weaknesses of usability methods were assessed including diary study, thinking aloud, and interview. Results suggested enhancements to the quality and cost-benefit link of field studies on medical devices.
