The article presents a study which determines the genetic organization in the capsular polysaccharide (CPS) biosynthesis of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae serotype 14. It discusses the DNA region for the CPS biosynthesis of serotype 14 (cps14). It also describes the overall nucleotide sequence and deduced amino acid sequence of the cps14.

The article discusses a study, which describes the development and validation of a real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assay using a TaqMan-labeled probe for the detection of Actinobacillus suis in porcine lung. Actinobacillus suis is Gram-negative bacterium that is considered an important swine pathogen because of its ability to cause fatal disease in pigs. The study found that the TaqMan real-time assay is a highly specific, sensitive, and reproducible test.
