A conference paper about a 1973-76 study on oral history in Jamaica is presented. Narratives of African-Jamaicans of the labor riots that took place on the island in 1938 are examined. The author concludes that the socio-political events of 1938 occupy a less significant place in Jamaican oral history compared to natural disasters such as hurricanes.

A conference paper about the clinical strategy for patients who attempts an illusion of "oneness" with the therapist is presented. The strategy uses the "romantic" approach, as well as go beyond such approach. The author suggests using the patient-therapist bond to pinpoint inchoate psychic states. To create new ways of being and relating, the therapist must facilitate the therapist-patient bond to bring the merged relationship to realization.

A conference paper about the victimization of the patients and analysts in the analytic process is presented. It examines how an analyst's efforts in trying to expand the patient's ability to understand and integrate experiences of agency and victimization implicates him in internalized scenarios. Such a situation results in the analyst's inability to understand the patterns and becomes entangled in it. In turn, the patients are also victimized by the personalities of their analysts.

A conference paper about a framework for the treatment of patients with self-care problems is presented. The author believes that concerned actions should be viewed as the opening of a paradoxical potential space in the transference-countertransference relationship. Self-care problems are believed to be caused by the breakdown of a central dialectic in the parent-child relationship. This dialectic must be reestablished and repaired in the treatment relationship.

The article presents information on the 2005 Biennial Conference of the International Academy for the Study of Tourism (IAST) that was held in Beijing, China. IAST is a self-recruiting group of scholars following the honoured traditions of British clubs. Fellowship is not open to any fee paying associates. It can only be achieved by invitation of the confreres after a finicky selection process that includes a highly qualified quorum of affirmative ballots. IAST, founded in 1988, was one of the harbingers of the growing demand for excellence in tourism research and has tried to keep true to this goal since. At any rate, only active IAST fellows are invited to participate in the sessions, although each one of them has the right to invite one guest if the latter contributes a paper to the proceedings. IAST fellows have many different academic backgrounds and a plurality of research strategies. This makes a second specialty for IAST conferences. In order to accommodate a number of papers with no common focus, their leitmotiv has to be as encompassing as the one for this Ninth Biennial Session in Beijing.

The deadline to submit original research papers, panel proposals, and research in progress abstracts is June 1, 2023. This paper describes new developments and deliberations at the 35th Session of the World Heritage Committee in Paris in June 2011. One of the most striking aspects of this year's meetings was the vocal challenge to the expert status and authority of the Advisory Bodies (ICOMOS and IUCN) by the Committee in making recommendations for site inscription. By the end of the meetings they had overturned 22 of the Advisory Body recommendations previously presented in the Draft Decision. Many of those challenges reflect a broader desire to inscribe properties within nations that have been historically underrepresented on the World Heritage List. I also suggest, however, that long-standing political allegiances and new socioeconomic alliances were key factors in voting trends, while heritage sites themselves and their specific requirements received less substantive discussion. First with Kaldor, who considers it as an independent functions of capital accumulation; later with the substitution of Schumpeter scheme based on a rigorous distinction between the inventive process, which is outside the concern, and the innovatory one, which defines the role of the entrepreneur, with a more fluid scheme that regards large concerns as the subject of imputation of either process; lastly with Arrow's attempt to consider the worker's productive experience as a constituent part of that process of acquisition of Knowledge which culminates in the modification of technology; with these three passages it is possible to draw an outline leading to recognize innovation/invent ion as more and more deeply rooted within the real productive process.
