This paper focuses on Vasily Shukshin's "working records" dated from 1966. It is established that a lot of contexts and names are important for the interpretation of these records: from the antique myths to Russian literature. In the paper, it is proved that the motive of the waterway of a ship appears in Shukshin's texts as the concentrated symbol of spiritual aspirations, warm rushes, as the allegory of movement towards the aim and the overcoming of obstacles. At the same time, it is also a symbol of moral ascension, which is shown by the reflections about intelligence as the aim of the artist. The conclusion drawn is that the poetics of Vasily Shukshin's texts represents a very open and dialogical structure with wide referential installations. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The present paper is based on materials of different genres and different styles of Ukrainian written monuments of the 16th and the 17th centuries (acts, court documents, wills, deeds, documents of church and school fraternities, chronicles, works of religious, polemical and fiction, memos of scientific and educational literature, liturgical literature, epistolary heritage, etc.) which are included in the source database of the Dictionary of Ukrainian language of the 16th century and the first half of the 17th century and its unique lexical card index, which is stored at the Ukrainian Language Department in the I. Krypiakevych Institute of Ukrainian Studies of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine (Lviv). The composition and structural organization of Church Slavonic lexemes meaning 'God; God's face' as well as their origin and history are studied. It was found that the register of this vocabulary included more than fifty phonetic and graphic Church Slavonic elements expressing the concept of 'God; God's face' different in word-forming structure. The main attention is paid to the etymological analysis of the studied tokens, which was primarily to clarify their semantic etymon. It is established that the analyzed Church Slavonicisms are mostly semantic loans from the Greek language, which preserved their semantics from ancient times to the Old Ukrainian period. It is observed that some studied tokens often act as core components of various two-, three-, or four-membered lexicalized phrases. The most active multifunctional core component was the token Lord. It is established that fixed phrases and phraseologisms are of different types in structure, mostly two-component noun + adjective phrases (sporadically, there are other lexical-grammatical models, too: "noun + noun", "preposition + adjective"). Much less observable are three-component formations ("noun + verb + pronoun", "verb + pronoun + noun") and four-component models ("verb + preposition + pronoun + noun"). It was found that the Church Slavonic words attested in the Ukrainian memos of the 16th and the 17th centuries did not undergo significant semantic changes in the process of formation of religious vocabulary. Some Church Slavonicisms have gone through a partial semantic modification, and some have acquired new semantics due to fixed phrases. Some words that point to God's face are characterized by polysemy and synonymy. The evolution of the analyzed Church Slavonicisms is different. Some of them have survived to our time and are actively used in the Ukrainian literary language or dialects, while others function only in a special area: in the church practice of the Byzantine rite (Orthodox Church of Ukraine, Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church). The paper deals with some food names in Russian (апельсин, ананас) within the framework of linguoculturological approach. The aim of this study is to analyze the main tendencies prevailing in the semantic adaptation of these loanwords that entered the Russian language in the 18th century. The first part is devoted to the conditions of appearance of these words in Russian culture and their semantic characteristics. The second part contains the description of semantic shifts that occur during the formation of cultural connotations of orange and pineapple. The author also demonstrates the manner in which semantic shifts can be used to describe a huge amount of cultural knowledge or cultural information. Proceeding from the notion of “cultural memory”, I set out to show that the phraseological meaning is a complex structure including semantic information and its conceptual basis. In my study, I would like to demonstrate what processes go on during its actualization in idiomaticity. The analysis is conducted on the basis of data found in the Russian National Corpus. This paper deals with the comparative analysis of Slavic similes that characterize sound sleep as a part of the linguistic image of the Slavic world. Through the analysis of the figurative structure of similes, the authors demonstrate a great variety of models describing sound sleep in Slavic similes as well as the distinctive and similar ways of expressing the main meanings of similes in different languages. They also demonstrate the semantic differentiation of similes created by the model used in the comparison. The Ottoman reign on the Balkans lasting several centuries influenced the linguistic and the cultural development simultaneously and with similar intensity with the South-Slavic countries. Their paths in any case interweaved through the history, being territorial adjacent and genealogically related languages, but still each of them individually created its own language and cultural identity. As a result of the individuality of each nation, i.e. their peculiar way of cultural comprehension and life style, the Macedonians, Serbs, Croats and the Bulgarians created their own vision for the world. The various representations for certain reality determined for one Turkish lexeme to develop various meanings in each language, which can be most realistic perceived in the every day communication within these Balkan nations, and the examples for analysis were excerpted exactly from those places where these informal communication happens - from different blogs and forums on the web pages of the respective countries. In this paper the lexemes from the abstract layer were mostly reviewed, where there is a higher possibility for semantic variations to emerge, different from the meaning of the concrete lexemes, which registered modifications as well. More frequent lexis of Turkish origin was reviewed in the four Slavic languages on comparative basis. The most characteristic feature of most of the loanword is their pejorative use nowadays, i.e. the descending of the language style at a lower level of communication. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper is on the status of words of Turkish origin in contemporary Serbian language; with a particular review on the fact that in recent fifty years, their status has been changed and that much vocabulary of this origin has diminished from everyday use. The basic corpus for studying Turkish works in contemporary Serbian standard language has been taken from The Dictionary of the Serbian - Croat Standard Language of Matica Srpska and it has about 2500 entries of Turkish words. Semantic study has particularly been stressed and it has not been the subject of separate scientific research as well as establishing important tasks for studying words of Turkish origin in standard Serbian language. The present paper considers the method of didactic ontology (DO) construction in the educational system. It is based on the semantic and syntactic analysis of concept-thesis model elements by using fuzzy logic. We represent some basic rules for determining the didactic sequence relation and provide its mathematical description. The paper presents the results of the syntactic-semantic analysis of prepositional-case structures for expressing agents in reflexive passive structures, as recorded in various functional styles in the language of writers before the age of Vuk Karadžić (from 1802 to 1855), and compared to the standard Serbian language. The examples are classified according to the semantic type of the agent of the structures. Ways of expressing the agent in the material analyzed are somewhat different from those in standard Serbian.
