Abstract

© 2018 The Author(s). Hair color is one of the most recognizable visual traits in European populations and is under strong genetic control. Here we report the results of a genome-wide association study meta-analysis of almost 300,000 participants of European descent. We identified 123 autosomal and one X-chromosome loci significantly associated with hair color; all but 13 are novel. Collectively, single-nucleotide polymorphisms associated with hair color within these loci explain 34.6% of red hair, 24.8% of blond hair, and 26.1% of black hair heritability in the study populations. These results confirm the polygenic nature of complex phenotypes and improve our understanding of melanin pigment metabolism in humans.

Abstract

Railway passenger traffic volume forecasting is an important responsibity of the railway transportation management departments, railway passenger traffic volumes are influenced by multiple factors, and the action mechanisms of these factors are usually unable to be described by accurate mathematical linguistic forms, so the theory and method of railway passenger traffic forecasting remain a focus in research all the time. The paper analyzes data using rough set theory. Combining rough set theory and the characteristics of railway passenger traffic volume data, we bring forward a forecasting model of railway passenger traffic volume using rough set theory. Through setting up, hybrid clustering method of discretization and reduction decision table, a rule Set concerning forecasting of railway passenger traffic volumes is achieved——rough set forecasting model.

Abstract

Base substitution is one of the raw fuels that produce genetic variation and drive evolution. Recent studies have shown that the genome components affect mutation patterns to some extent. In order to infer the correlation between the Transition/Transversion ratio (Ts/Tv) and the number of immediately adjacent A and T nucleotides, we investigated 3611007 Oryza sativa SNPs (including 45462 coding SNPs, and 242811 intronic SNPs) and 32019 Arabidopsis SNPs. The results show that Ts/Tv is negatively correlated with the number of immediately adjacent A and T in O. sativa and Arabidopsis. We further calculated AT2 (the number of SNPs whose immediately adjacent nucleotides are either A or T) and AT0 (the number of SNPs whose immediately adjacent nucleotides are either C or G) for all 6 types of SNPs. C/G SNP of O. sativa and Arabidopsis has the highest AT2/AT0, which denotes C/G SNP may be influenced by the adjacent A and T nucleotides mostly. For SNPs in O. sativa, the neighboring effect of A and T nucleotides is limited to 2 nucleotides on both sides; for SNPs in Arabidopsis, the effect extends no more than 4 nucleotides on both sides.

Abstract

Using DAPI, rabbit antitubulin antibody, FITC-labeled goat anti-rabbit IgG, and TRITC-phalloidin to stain individual cells, the microspectrophotometric analysis showed that three markers that represent the nucleus, microtubules (MT), and microfilaments (MF), respectively, could be recognized in individual cells without interference. The phase of the cell cycle was determined by DNA content. We found that in Indian muntjac (IM) cells, the amount of tubulin in G2 and M phases was about twice as much as that in G1 phase. In G2 cells, the cytoplasmic microtubule complex (CMTC) became denser than in G1 cells. The cytoplasmic MT extent in basically the same orientation as MF bundles in interphase. The regions where the MT is denser also have a denser MF distribution.
