Monascus pigments (MPs), as secondary metabolites of Monascus, are microbial pigments which have been used for thousands of years. MPs are widely used in food industry as food pigments and preservatives, which have the stability of light resistance, high temperature resistance and acid-base change resistance. In addition, the antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral and anti-tumor biological activities of MPs have also attracted people’s attention. Moreover, Due to the presence of citrinin, the safety of MPs still needs to be discussed and explored. In this paper, the production, biological activity, application in various fields and methods of detection and reduction of citrinin of MPs were reviewed, which provide new insights into the study and safe application related to human different diseases, medicines or health care products with MPs as active substances.

Two new phenoxo-bridged heterobimetallic [Zn(II)2M(II)] (M = Sr and Ba) salamo-based complexes, [{Zn(L)(μ2-OAc)}2Sr]·0.33CH3OH·H2O (1) and [{Zn(L)(μ2-OAc)}2Ba] (2), have been designed, self-assembled and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, Hirshfeld surfaces analyses, and Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations. The results of UV and fluorescence titration experiments have demonstrated that the coordination ratio of the ligand H2L to Zn(II) has been 1 : 2 in the L–Zn(II) precursor. However, X-ray crystallographic analysis indicates the coordination ratio of H2L to Zn(II) as 1 : 1 in the complexes 1 and 2. Coordination environments of the complexes 1 and 2 are almost similar. The complex 1 has an asymmetric heterotrinuclear structure, while the complex 2 is formed as the symmetric heterotrinuclear structure. Fluorescence spectra demonstrate that fluorescence of the ligand is almost completely quenched due to coordination of Zn(II) atoms with H2L. According to DFT calculations chemical stability of the complexes 1 and 2 is higher than that of H2L.

A novel two-dimensional Zn(II) coordination polymer [Zn(II) CP], [{Zn(L)Zn(OAc–)(µ-OAc–)}4]n· 2nCH3CH2OH has been self-assembled from Zn(OAc)2·2H2O. It contains pyridine-terminal salamo-type ligand H2L. Structure of the product has been determined. The Zn(II)CP contains two kinds of Zn(II) ions of different coordination modes. The Zn1 center is characterized by five-coordinated triangular biconical geometry. The Zn2 center is a six-coordinated octahedral center. Using these as junction points and the fully deprotonated ligand (L)2– moieties containing pyridine-terminal as a linker, the 2-D coordination polymer with two kinds of different pores [27.47 × 11.77(23) A2; 11.97 × 4.51(17) A2] has been obtained. The Zn(II) CP can fluoresce green and be used in fluorescent materials. Short-range interactions on Zn(II) CP surface have been studied by Hirshfeld surface analysis.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the deadliest malignant tumors that are harmful to human health. Increasing evidence has underscored the critical role of the competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) regulatory networks among various human cancers. However, the complexity and behavior characteristics of the ceRNA network in HCC were still unclear. In this study, we aimed to clarify a phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN)-related ceRNA regulatory network and identify potential prognostic markers associated with HCC. The expression profiles of three RNAs (long non-coding RNAs [lncRNAs], microRNAs [miRNAs], and mRNAs) were extracted from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. The DLEU2L-hsa-miR-100-5p/ hsa-miR-99a-5p-TAOK1 ceRNA network related to the prognosis of HCC was obtained by performing bioinformatics analysis. Importantly, we identified the DLEU2L/TAOK1 axis in the ceRNA by using correlation analysis, and it appeared to become a clinical prognostic model by Cox regression analysis. Furthermore, methylation analyses suggested that the abnormal upregulation of the DLEU2L/TAOK1 axis likely resulted from hypomethylation, and immune infiltration analysis showed that the DLEU2L/TAOK1 axis may have an impact on the changes in the tumor immune microenvironment and the development of HCC. In summary, the current study constructing a ceRNA-based DLEU2L/TAOK1 axis might be a novel important prognostic factor associated with the diagnosis and prognosis of HCC., Graphical Abstract, Shi et al. provide evidence that a ceRNA-based DLEU2L/TAOK1 axis has an impact on changes in the tumor immune microenvironment and might be a novel important prognostic factor associated with the diagnosis and prognosis of HCC.

This paper is concerned with the problem of output tracking control for a class of high-order stochastic nonlinear systems with dynamic uncertainties. The systems under investigation have dynamic uncertainties, unknown high-order terms, and uncertain nonlinear functions simultaneously. The packaged unknown nonlinearities are manipulated successful by using radial basis function neural networks. Two dynamic signals are introduced to dominate the dynamic uncertainties and adjust the tracking accuracy, respectively. The proposed continuous controller guarantees that all states of the closed-loop system are bounded in probability, and the tracking error converges to a preassigned range. Finally, a simulation example is provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the control scheme.

Two mononuclear Cu(II) and Co(II) halogen-substituted salamo-based complexes of the formulas [Cu(L)] and [Co(L)(H2O)2] have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, FT-IR and UV-Vis absorption spectra, and X-ray crystallography. The Cu(II) complex has crystallized in the monoclinic system, space group P21/n with Cu(II) atom located in the N2O2 cavity. In the Co(II) complex, the center Co(II) atom has exhibited a slightly distorted octahedral geometry with halogen-substituted salamo-based bisoxime forming the basal N2O2 coordination plane and two oxygen atoms of two coordinated water molecules in the axial positions. Non-covalent interactions like hydrogen bonding and π···π stacking interactions are operative in construction of supramolecular architectures. The crystal structures and supramolecular features of the complexes have been discussed in details. Hirshfeld surfaces analyses has indicated stability of both complexes. The Cu(II) complex has demonstrated excellent bio-inspired catalytic properties towards oxidative coupling of 2-AP in MeCN medium. Fluorescence properties of H2L and its Cu(II) and Co(II) complexes have also been discussed.

A relatively rigid acyclic salamo-type ligand H2L and its square planar Cu(II) complex, [Cu(L)]·CH3OH, were synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystallography, as well as Fourier-transform infrared spectra, UV–Vis spectra, Hirshfeld surface analyses and DFT calculations. The ligand crystallizes in monoclinic space group P 21/c and has pairs of intramolecular hydrogen bonds between the oxime nitrogen atoms and the hydroxyl groups. The Cu(II) complex crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P 21/c. The Cu(II) ion is located in the N2O2 cavity of the fully deprotonated salamo-type ligand (L)2− unit, thus forming a four-coordinate distorted square planar geometry. At the same time, a belt-like, 2-D supramolecular structure is formed by the interaction of intermolecular hydrogen bonds, and the intermolecular interaction force is quantitatively analyzed by Hirshfeld surfaces. Significantly, fluorescence properties of the ligand and its Cu(II) complex were also studied. The coordination ratio of the Cu(II) complex was proved by UV–Vis and fluorescence titration experiments.

Nano-composite film possesses antibacterial properties of nanomaterials and preservation performance of food packaging film. The goal of this work was to explore the potential application of nano-silver-containing polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) composite film in grape fresh-keeping. Mechanical properties, transparency, barrier performance and antibacterial activity of Nano-silver-containing PVA film were tested and results showed that the antibacterial zone diameter of nano-silver on Aspergillus niger was 14.4 mm, with minimum bactericidal concentration of 75 ppm. The PVA antibacterial membrane effectively revealed antibacterial properties. Moreover, the decreased mechanical properties and transparency enhanced barrier performance of antibacterial membrane compared with PVA film. For comparison, the fresh-keeping effects of non-packaging film, commercial cling wrap and nano-silver-containing PVA film on sensory score, mass loss rate, decay rate, Ascorbic Acid (Vc) content and titratable acid content were also studied. Results indicated that the PVA antibacterial membrane significantly effectively avoided sensory score, water, decay, Ascorbic Acid (Vc) and titratable acid in grapes during storage, and had a remarkable effect in prolonging grapes' shelf life due to its breathability and antibacterial activity.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the world due to losing regenerative capacity in the adult heart. Frogs possess remarkable capacities to regenerate multiple organs, including spinal cord, tail, and limb, but the response to heart injury and the underlying molecular mechanism remains largely unclear. Here we demonstrated that cardiomyocyte proliferation greatly contributes to heart regeneration in adult X. tropicalis upon apex resection. Using RNA-seq and qPCR, we found that the expression of Fos-like antigen 1 (Fosl1) was dramatically upregulated in early stage of heart injury. To study Fosl1 function in heart regeneration, its expression was modulated in vitro and in vivo. Overexpression of X. tropicalis Fosl1 significantly promoted the proliferation of cardiomyocyte cell line H9c2. Consistently, endogenous Fosl1 knockdown suppressed the proliferation of H9c2 cells and primary cardiomyocytes isolated from neonatal mice. Taking use of a cardiomyocyte-specific dominant-negative approach, we show that blocking Fosl1 function leads to defects in cardiomyocyte proliferation during X. tropicalis heart regeneration. We further show that knockdown of Fosl1 can suppress the capacity of heart regeneration in neonatal mice, but overexpression of Fosl1 can improve the cardiac function in adult mouse upon myocardium infarction. Co-immunoprecipitation, luciferase reporter, and ChIP analysis reveal that Fosl1 interacts with JunB and promotes the expression of Cyclin-T1 (Ccnt1) during heart regeneration. In conclusion, we demonstrated that Fosl1 plays an essential role in cardiomyocyte proliferation and heart regeneration in vertebrates, at least in part, through interaction with JunB, thereby promoting expression of cell cycle regulators including Ccnt1.

Upon injury, the liver is capable of substantial regeneration from the original tissue until an appropriate functional size. The underlying mechanisms controlling the liver regeneration processes are not well elucidated. Previous studies have proposed that the transcription factor FoxO3 is involved in various liver diseases, but its exact role in the regulation of liver regeneration remains largely unclear. To directly test the detailed role of FoxO3 in liver regeneration, both a constitutive Albumin-Cre driver line and adeno-associated virus serotype 8 (AAV8)-Tbg-Cre (AAV-Cre)-injected adult FoxO3fl/fl mice were subjected to 70% partial hepatectomy (PH). Our data demonstrate that FoxO3 deletion accelerates liver regeneration primarily by limiting polyploidization and promoting the proliferation of hepatocytes during liver regeneration. RNA-seq analysis indicates that FoxO3 deficiency greatly alters the expression of gene sets associated with cell proliferation and apoptosis during liver regeneration. Chromatin immunoprecipitation-PCR (ChIP-PCR) and luciferase reporter assays reveal that FoxO3 promotes the expression of Nox4 but suppresses the expression of Nr4a1 in hepatocytes. AAV8 virus-mediated overexpression of Nox4 and knockdown of Nr4a1 significantly suppressed hepatocyte proliferation and liver regeneration in FoxO3-deficient mice. We demonstrate that FoxO3 negatively controls hepatocyte proliferation through Nox4 upregulation and Nr4a1 downregulation, thereby ensuring appropriate functional regeneration of the liver. Our findings provide novel mechanistic insight into the therapeutic mechanisms of FoxO3 in liver damage and repair.

Lung cancer is the world’s highest morbidity and mortality of malignant tumors, with lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) as a major subtype. The competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) regulative network provides opportunities to understand the relationships among different molecules, as well as the regulative mechanisms among them in order to investigate the whole transcriptome landscape in cancer pathology. We designed this work to explore the role of a key oncogene, MYC, in the pathogenesis of LUAD, and this study aims to identify important long noncoding RNA (lncRNA)-microRNA (miRNA)- transcription factor (TF) interactions in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) using a bioinformatics analysis. The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database, containing mRNA expression data of NSCLC, was used to determine the deferentially expressed genes (DEGs), and the ceRNA network was composed of WT1-AS, miR-206, and nicotinamide phosphoribosyltransferase (NAMPT) bashing on the MYC expression level. The Kaplan–Meier univariate survival analysis showed that these components may be closely related prognostic biomarkers and will become new ideas for NSCLC treatment. Moreover, the high expression of WT1-AS and NAMPT and low expression of miR-206 were associated with a shortened survival in NSCLC patients, which provided a survival advantage. In summary, the current study constructing a ceRNA-based WT1-AS/miR-206/NAMPT axis might be a novel important prognostic factor associated with the diagnosis and prognosis of LUAD.

Lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) is the leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide, and effective biomarkers are still lacking for early detection and prognosis prediction. Here, based on gene expression profiles of LUAD patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), 806 long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), 122 microRNAs (miRNAs) and 1269 mRNAs associated with CDK1 were identified. The regulatory axis of LINC00460/LINC00525-hsa-mir-338-FAM111B/ZWINT was determined according to the correlation between gene expression and patient prognosis. The abnormal up-regulation of FAM111B/ZWINT in LUAD was related to hypomethylation. Furthermore, immune infiltration analysis suggested FAM111B/ZWINT could affect the development and prognosis of cancer by regulating the LUAD immune microenvironment. EMT feature analysis suggested that FAM111B/ZWINT promoted tumor spread through the EMT process. Functional analysis showed FAM111B/ZWINT was involved in cell cycle events such as DNA replication and chromosome separation. We analyzed the HERB and GSCALite databases to identify potential target medicines that may play a role in the treatment of LUAD. Finally, the expression of LINC00460/LINC00525-hsa-mir-338-FAM111B/ZWINT axis was verified in LUAD cells by RT-qPCR, and these results were consistent with bioinformatics analysis. Overall, we constructed a CDK1-related ceRNA network and revealed the LINC00460/LINC00525-hsa-mir-338-FAM111/ZWINT pathways as potential diagnostic biomarkers or therapeutic targets of LUAD.

Impervious surface is a key indicator for urbanization degree and the quality of urban environment. It is of great ecological significance to study the evolution of urban landscape based on impervious surface. We explored the spatiotemporal changes of impervious surface landscape pattern in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area from 2006 to 2016 using multi-temporal Landsat images based on landscape pattern index. To discuss the cardiac toxicities of a heat waves and ozone exposure on cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and explore a possible mechanism.The incidence of ozone exposure combined with heat wave was simulated in the Shanghai Meteorological and Environmental Animal Exposure System (Shanghai-METAS). A total of 64 ApoE-/- mice, matched by weight, were randomly divided into 8 groups and exposed to heat wave conditions or ozone. The levels of creatine kinase (CK), D-lactate dehydrogenase (D-LDH), intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (sICAM-1), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), nitric oxide (NO), endothelin-1 (ET-1), D-dimer (D2D), plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) and blood lipid in plasma and heat shock protein-60 (HSP60), hypoxia inducible factor 1 alpha (HIF-1α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), C-reactive protein (CRP), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and malondialdehyde (MDA) in hearts were measured after exposure.The levels of all indicators, except for SOD, increased with the ozone-only exposure. However, cardiac damage was most significant when the heat wave conditions were combined with severe ozone exposure. Moreover, the levels of CK, D-LDH, NO, PAI-1, sICAM-1, and TNF-α in plasma increased significantly (P0.05), and the contents of HSP60, HIF-1α, CRP, and MDA in hearts increased considerably (P0.05), but the activity of SOD decreased significantly. In addition, the levels of four blood lipid items remarkably increased (except the level of HDL-C which decreased significantly) with ozone exposure.A short-term exposure to a heat wave and ozone causes severe toxic effects on the heart. Cardiac damage was most significant under combined heat wave and severe ozone exposure simulations.

Rotational speed stability is an important evaluation indicator of the performance of a hydro-viscous clutch (HVC). To improve the rotational speed stability of HVCs in mixed lubrication and the running condition of the friction pairs, the speed stability of an HVC in mixed lubrication was studied. To this end, the friction coefficients of both copper-based and paper-based friction pairs were experimentally tested using an MM1000-III wet friction machine. Theoretically, a torsional vibration model of the system is presented. The phase plane analysis method is applied to evaluate the stability of the torsional vibration model, where a critical negative gradient (CNG) is defined. The results show that the friction coefficient in mixed lubrication is an important parameter for the stability of the rotational speed. The system will be unstable when the negative gradient of the friction coefficient-slip speed is larger than the CNG. According to the definition of the CNG, suggestions regarding choice of friction pairs are made to improve the rotational speed stability of an HVC in mixed lubrication.

Precipitation characteristics of second phase in HSLC steel produced by FTSR technology have been researched by TEM and EDS in this article. And preliminary research of precipitation conditions of second phase particles in thermodynamics and dynamics have been took. The results indicate that: there’re second phase particles precipitated dispersively in hot rolled HSLC steels by FTSR technology. These particles mainly contain particles of Al2O3、MnS and AlN. Thermo dynamical analysis declares that most of the Al2O3 and all of the MnS、 AlN particles are precipitated in solid state. That’s why the precipitation process is slowed down by the diffusion velocity of the elements in solid, and thinner particles are precipitated while the material is in solid state than in liquid state.

Study on Dynamic characteristic of AlN precipitate in Production of High Strength and Low Carbon Steel in FTSR technology. Results calculated by dynamical model indicate that part of the AlN particles precipitate in casting slab rapidly which because the increasing precipitation driving force offered by increasing local concentration of Al caused by dendritic segregation in thin slab.

The current design of hydro-viscous clutch(HVC) in tracked vehicle fan transmission mainly focuses on high-speed and high power. However, the fluid torque under the influence of fluid temperature can not be predicted accurately by conventional mathematical model or experimental research. In order to validate the fluid torque of HVC by taking the viscosity-temperature characteristic of fluid into account, the test rig is designed. The outlet oil temperature is measured and fitted with different rotation speed, oil film thickness, oil flow rate, and inlet oil temperature. Meanwhile, the film torque can be obtained. Based on Navier-Stokes equations and the continuity equation, the mathematical model of fluid torque is proposed in cylindrical coordinate. Iterative method is employed to solve the equations. The radial and tangential speed distribution, radial pressure distribution and theoretical flow rate are determined and analyzed. The models of equivalent radius and fluid torque of friction pairs are introduced. The experimental and theoretical results indicate that tangential speed distribution is mainly determined by the relative rotating speed between the friction plate and the separator disc. However, the radial speed distribution and pressure distribution are dominated by pressure difference at the lower rotating speed. The oil film fills the clearance and the film torque increases with increasing rotating speed. However, when the speed reaches a certain value, the centrifugal force will play an important role on the fluid distribution. The pressure is negative at the outer radius when inlet flow rate is less than theoretical flow, so the film starts to shrink which decreases the film torque sharply. The theoretical fluid torque has good agreement with the experimental data. This research proposes a new fluid torque mathematical model which may predict the film torque under the influence of temperature more accurately.

In the cold area, there always exists the problem to treat low-temperature sewage in winter by bio-treatment technology, but it is difficult to reach the criterion since the low efficiency and the high difficulty. Domestic wastewater is a high concentration of oil wastewater and if it is discharged directly without treatment, it will affect the water body reoxygenation and its self-purification process, which endangers the water ecosystem. The study tried to tackle the problem from the morphology and physiology perspective of microorganisms. The sewage water samples were taken from a residential area and eight cold-adapted strains with high oil degradation capacity were isolated and at the temperature of 5°C. The bacteria were identified and determined the genus through physiological and biochemical tests and fatty acid identification system. The effect of pH value on the oil degradation rate was investigated. The results showed that the optimal culture conditions were 5°C, 7.0 of initial pH, peanut oil as carbon source. Under the conditions, the bacteria had the higher degradation capacity.

AIM: To investigate the mechanism of calcyclin binding protein/Siah-1 interacting protein (CacyBP/SIP) nuclear translocation in promoting the proliferation of gastric cancer (GC) cells. METHODS: The effect of CacyBP/SIP nuclear translocation on cell cycle was investigated by cell cycle analysis. Western blot analysis was used to assess the change in expression of cell cycle regulatory proteins and proteasome-mediated degradation of p27Kip1. Co-immunoprecipitation (co-IP) analysis was performed to examine the binding of CacyBP/SIP with Skp1. A CacyBP/SIP truncation mutant which lacked the Skp1 binding site was constructed and fused to a fluorescent protein. Subsequently, the effect on Skp1 binding with the fusion protein was examined by co-IP, while localization of fluorescent fusion protein observed by confocal laser microscopy, and change in p27Kip1 protein expression assessed by Western blot analysis. RESULTS: CacyBP/SIP nuclear translocation induced by gastrin promoted progression of GC cells from G1 phase. However, while CacyBP/SIP nuclear translocation was inhibited using siRNA to suppress CacyBP/SIP expression, cell cycle was clearly inhibited. CacyBP/SIP nuclear translocation significantly decreased the level of cell cycle inhibitor p27Kip1, increased Cyclin E protein expression whereas the levels of Skp1, Skp2, and CDK2 were not affected. Upon inhibition of CacyBP/SIP nuclear translocation, there were no changes in protein levels of p27Kip1 and Cyclin E, while p27Kip1 decrease could be prevented by the proteasome inhibitor MG132. Moreover, CacyBP/SIP was found to bind to Skp1 by immunoprecipitation, an event that was abolished by mutant CacyBP/SIP, which also failed to stimulate p27Kip1 degradation, even though the mutant could still translocate into the nucleus. CONCLUSION: CacyBP/SIP nuclear translocation contributes to the proliferation of GC cells, and CacyBP/SIP exerts this effect, at least in part, by stimulating ubiquitin-mediated degradation of p27Kip1.

To investigate the role of nuclear translocation of calcyclin binding protein, also called Siah-1 interacting protein (CacyBP/SIP), in gastric carcinogenesis.The expression of CacyBP/SIP protein in gastric cancer cell lines was detected by Western blot. Immunofluorescence experiments were performed on gastric cancer cell lines that had been either unstimulated or stimulated with gastrin. To confirm the immunofluorescence findings, the relative abundance of CacyBP/SIP in nuclear and cytoplasmic compartments was assessed by Western blot. The effect of nuclear translocation of CacyBP/SIP on cell proliferation was examined using MTT assay. The colony formation assay was used to measure clonogenic cell survival. The effect of CacyBP/SIP nuclear translocation on cell cycle progression was investigated. Two CacyBP/SIP-specific siRNA vectors were designed and constructed to inhibit CacyBP/SIP expression in order to reduce the nuclear translocation of CacyBP/SIP, and the expression of CacyBP/SIP in stably transfected cells was determined by Western blot. The effect of inhibiting CacyBP/SIP nuclear translocation on cell proliferation was then assessed.CacyBP/SIP protein was present in most of gastric cancer cell lines. In unstimulated cells, CacyBP/SIP was distributed throughout the cytoplasm; while in stimulated cells, CacyBP/SIP was found mainly in the perinuclear region. CacyBP/SIP nuclear translocation generated a growth-stimulatory effect on cells. The number of colonies in the CacyBP/SIP nuclear translocation group was significantly higher than that in the control group. The percentage of stimulated cells in G1 phase was significantly lower than that of control cells (69.70% ± 0.46% and 65.80% ± 0.60%, control cells and gastrin-treated SGC7901 cells, P = 0.008; 72.99% ± 0.46% and 69.36% ± 0.51%, control cells and gastrin-treated MKN45 cells, P = 0.022). CacyBP/SIPsi1 effectively down-regulated the expression of CacyBP/SIP, and cells stably transfected by CacyBP/SIPsi1 were then chosen for further cellular assays. In CacyBP/SIPsi1 stably transfected cells, CacyBP/SIP was shown to be distributed throughout the cytoplasm, irregardless of whether they were stimulated or not. After CacyBP/SIP nuclear translocation was reduced, there had no major effect on cell proliferation, as shown by MTT assay. There had no enhanced anchorage-dependent growth upon stimulation, as indicated by colony formation in flat plates. No changes appeared in the percentage of cells in G0-G1 phase in either cell line (71.09% ± 0.16% and 70.86% ± 0.25%, control cells and gastrin-treated SGC7901-CacyBP/SIPsi1 cells, P = 0.101; 74.17% ± 1.04% and 73.07% ± 1.00%, control cells and gastrin-treated MKN45-CacyBP/SIPsi1 cells, P = 0.225).CacyBP/SIP nuclear translocation promotes the proliferation and cell cycle progression of gastric cancer cells.

This study provides the candidate sequences in the identification of Radix et Rhizoma Clematidis and its adulterants using DNA barcoding. We amplified and sequenced the region psbA-trnH, with the data of 284 sequences from GenBank, the differential intra- and inter-specific divergences, genetic distance, barcoding gap were used to evaluate five barcodes, and the identification efficiency was assessed using BLAST1 and Nearest Distance methods. The results showed that psbA-trnH barcodes performed high identification efficiency and inter-specific divergences among the five different DNA barcodes. Analysis of the barcoding gap and NJ tree showed psbA-trnH was superior to other barcodes. Based on the identification and PCR amplification efficiency, psbA-trnH can be the ideal barcode to identify Radix et Rhizoma Clematidis and its adulterants accurately.

This paper deals with the extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) of Rhizobium radiobacter F2 used as a novel biosorbent to remove Cu (II) and Mn (II) ions from aqueous solutions. The Cu (II) and Mn (II) ions biosorption characteristics of the EPS were examined as a function of initial pH, contact time and EPS concentration. The proper pH of the aqueous solution was found to be 6.0 for both the biosorption of Cu (II) and Mn (II). Biosorption equilibrium times of Cu (II) and Mn (II) were achieved in 1.0 h. The maximum biosorption capacities under optimum conditions of Cu (II) and Mn (II) on the EPS were determined to be 45.30 ±± 1.62 mg/g and 28.86 ±± 1.28 mg/g, respectively. The fitness of the biosorption data for Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models was investigated. It was found that biosorption of Cu (II) and Mn (II) ions onto the EPS were better suitable to Langmuir than Freundlich isotherm model. Competitive biosorption of Mn (II) and Cu (II) ions was also investigated to determine the selectivity of the bioflocculant.

To understand the prevalence and risk factors for suicidal ideation among college students and to provide a scientific basis for promoting psychological health and suicide prevention.623 college students at Central South University were selected using stratified cluster sampling and administered a suicide ideation questionnaire, a Symptom Check List (SCL-90), an Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Check List (ASLEC), a Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS) and a questionnaire about background information. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was employed to identify risk factors for suicide ideation.One year prior to our investigation, 14.6% of respondents had suicide ideation, 2.5% had made a specific suicide plan, and 1.8% had made a suicide attempt. The main risk factors for suicide ideation were dissatisfaction with the selected major of study, limited social support, recent negative life events and depressive tendency.The prevalence of suicide ideation among these college students was high. Appropriate measures focusing on the risk factors identified in this study should be urgently developed to prevent suicides in college students.
