Affective responses during exercise have been identified as a predictor of exercise adherence. However, research has been mostly limited to aerobic and resistance exercise. Considering that stretching activities are also an important component of physical fitness, this quasi-experimental study was designed to: 1) compare affective responses during and immediately after stretching exercises in apparently healthy adults, and 2) assess the consistency and repeatability of affect ratings obtained one week apart. For this purpose, we analyzed the Feeling Scale (FS) and Felt Arousal Scale (FAS) ratings using Time (during and after stretching) x Intensity (light, moderate, vigorous) x Stretched Muscle Group (quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes, latissimus dorsi, triceps) with repeated measures analysis of variance (ANCOVA) in 34 participants (21 males; aged 32.8 ± 8.6 years). The repeatability of FS and FAS ratings was assessed using two-way random-effects models, Intraclass Correlation Coefficients (ICC), and Bland-Altman plots. FS scores were higher following the stretching exercises, whereas FAS scores were lower, particularly in the vigorous intensity. In general, the inter-day repeatability for FS and FAS measurements was good across muscle groups. ICC tended to be higher at vigorous intensities. Ratings of core affect can be collected during static passive stretches using the FAS and FAS in ecologically valid settings. This study investigated the psychometric nature of preference for and tolerance of exercise intensity in physical activity. It initially re-examined the Preference for and Tolerance of the Intensity of Exercise Questionnaire (PRETIE-Q) among Portuguese exercisers, looking at its applicability to different exercise activities and exercise experiences. Then, to investigate the applicability of the measure in different groups, its invariance was examined. The sample consisted of 1117 participants (528 male, 589 female) aged 18–81 years old (Mage = 36.81, SD = 11.89). All participants reported at baseline that they were exercising, on average, 3.93 days (SD = 1.36) per week. The exploratory structural equation modeling (ESEM) displayed the best fit. The ESEM did show invariance when tested for multigroup analysis. The conclusion of this research is that the ESEM demonstrated the best fit, displaying invariance in multigroup analysis. Furthermore, when assessing preference and tolerance in various exercise modalities, the PRETIE-Q should be primarily used as a multidimensional instrument due to the differential recognition of preference and tolerance in seemingly similar physical activity circumstances, highlighting the importance of employing context-verified measures to evaluate exercise-intensity preference and tolerance based on sample characteristics or real-time context. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

Assessing quality of life (QoL) is important to provide personalized and individualized support plans with the purpose of improving personal outcomes. Based on the conceptual model of QoL, the aim of this study was to assess the congruence between the perceptions of institutionalized individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and the perception of a third party, regarding QoL. Forty-two individuals participated in this study, including twenty-one with mild to severe IDD and their family members/caregiver/reference technician, who responded to the Personal Outcomes Scale (Portuguese version). Significant differences (p < 0.05) were found between reports in the personal development (t = −2.26; p = 0.024), emotional well-being (t = −2.263; p = 0.024), physical well-being (t = −2.491; p = 0.013) and total QoL (t = −2.331; p = 0.02). The results further show that most third-party reports tend to undervalue the QoL of the individual with IDD, and that there is no congruence in any of the QoL domains. The inclusion of self-reports in the QoL assessment is important. In addition to the assessment of third-party reports, the process of making decisions appropriate to the context and individual characteristics is equally important. On the other hand, the inclusion of third-party reports is an opportunity to promote communication among all stakeholders, recognize and discuss differences, and promote QoL, not only of individuals with IDD, but also of families. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

Objectives: This study aimed to examine the relationship between age, body mass index, muscle strength, and balance in physically active, aged adults. Methods: Eighty-five participants were recruited for this study, having an average age of 70.31 years (SD = 9.90), ranging from 50 to 92 years. Twenty-six (30.6%) participants were male and fifty-nine (69.4%) were female. The participants had an average body mass index of 27.30 kg/m2 (SD = 3.62), ranging from 20.32 to 38.58 kg/m2. Participants undertook the Timed-Up and Go to test balance, and the chair-stand test to assess lower body strength. Hierarchical regression analyses were conducted. Three models (Model 1, 2, and 3) were tested to assess their relationships with balance: M1—Lower body muscle strength; M2—Lower body muscle strength and body mass index; M3—Lower body muscle strength, body mass index, and age. Results: All hierarchical models displayed significant variance. The third model explained 50.9% of the variance in dynamic balance, [F(3, 81) = 27.94, p < 0.001, R = 0.71, Ra2 = 0.51]. The difference in Ra2 between the first, second, and third models was statistically significant (p < 0.05). Age, body mass index, and lower body muscle strength had significant (p < 0.05) correlations with balance. In terms of the significant impact of each predictor, age had the strongest association with balance (p < 0.05). Optimization problems over dynamic networks have been extensively studied and widely used in the past decades to formulate numerous real-world problems. However, (1) traditional optimization-based approaches do not scale to large networks, and (2) the design of good heuristics or approximation algorithms often requires significant manual trial-and-error. In this work, we argue that data-driven strategies can automate this process and learn efficient algorithms without compromising optimality. To do so, we present network control problems through the lens of reinforcement learning and propose a graph network-based framework to handle a broad class of problems. Instead of naively computing actions over high-dimensional graph elements, e.g., edges, we propose a bi-level formulation where we (1) specify a desired next state via RL, and (2) solve a convex program to best achieve it, leading to drastically improved scalability and performance. We further highlight a collection of desirable features to system designers, investigate design decisions, and present experiments on real-world control problems showing the utility, scalability, and flexibility of our framework., 9 pages, 4 figures

Electric vehicle charging demand models, with charging records as input, will inherently be biased toward the supply of available chargers. These models often fail to account for demand lost from occupied charging stations and competitors. The lost demand suggests that the actual demand is likely higher than the charging records reflect, i.e., the true demand is latent (unobserved), and the observations are censored. As a result, machine learning models that rely on these observed records for forecasting charging demand may be limited in their application in future infrastructure expansion and supply management, as they do not estimate the true demand for charging. We propose using censorship-aware models to model charging demand to address this limitation. These models incorporate censorship in their loss functions and learn the true latent demand distribution from observed charging records. We study how occupied charging stations and competing services censor demand using GPS trajectories from cars in Copenhagen, Denmark. We find that censorship occurs up to $61\%$ of the time in some areas of the city. We use the observed charging demand from our study to estimate the true demand and find that censorship-aware models provide better prediction and uncertainty estimation of actual demand than censorship-unaware models. We suggest that future charging models based on charging records should account for censoring to expand the application areas of machine learning models in supply management and infrastructure expansion.

The communication of the science carried out configures a relevant social approach for public scientific research institutions. This congress aims above all to make available the knowledge acquired on the subject of quality of life, aiming to transfer to society and citizens the information applied to their way of life. We consider the highlights of the congress to be the discussion at roundtables on two fracturing themes, inclusion and urbanism associated with the quality of life of citizens. The conferences are multidisciplinary, addressing topics such as children’s education and sports participation, sustainable agriculture and self-care, all of them related to citizens’ quality of life. The proposed papers reflect the diverse research paradigms of this multidisciplinary and thematic center: studies on the educational contexts of youth and children; on the inclusion of people with disabilities; research focused on food products and sustainable behaviors; approaches to sports training, athlete performances, physical activity practice; exploration of research on the motor behavior of children and youth; study of sustainability in organizations; research focused on quality of life in the different stages of human life; etc. This diverse approach demonstrates the complexity of the social phenomenon under study. Researchers search the connection between some variables and their interrelationship. In this way, the research produced gets closer to the ecological and social reality, transferring itself to human practices towards a better and healthy quality of life. This II International Congress - CIEQV is another initiative for the challenges of research in Quality of Life. Autonomous Mobility-on-Demand (AMoD) systems are a rapidly evolving mode of transportation in which a centrally coordinated fleet of self-driving vehicles dynamically serves travel requests. The control of these systems is typically formulated as a large network optimization problem, and reinforcement learning (RL) has recently emerged as a promising approach to solve the open challenges in this space. However, current RL-based approaches exclusively focus on learning from online data, fundamentally ignoring the per-sample-cost of interactions within real-world transportation systems. To address these limitations, we propose to formalize the control of AMoD systems through the lens of offline reinforcement learning and learn effective control strategies via solely offline data, thus readily available to current mobility operators. We further investigate design decisions and provide experiments on real-world mobility systems showing how offline learning allows to recover AMoD control policies that (i) exhibit performance on par with online methods, (ii) drastically improve data efficiency, and (iii) completely eliminate the need for complex simulated environments. Crucially, this paper demonstrates that offline reinforcement learning is a promising paradigm for the application of RL-based solutions within economically-critical systems, such as mobility systems.

This paper presents two novel approaches for uncertainty estimation adapted and extended for the multi-link bus travel time problem. The uncertainty is modeled directly as part of recurrent artificial neural networks, but using two fundamentally different approaches: one based on Deep Quantile Regression and the other on Bayesian neural network. Both approaches use a recurrent neural network to predict multiple time steps into the future, but handle the time-dependent uncertainty estimation differently. We present a novel sampling technique in order to aggregate quantile estimates for link level travel time to yield the multi-link travel time distribution needed for a vehicle to travel from its current position to a specific downstream stop point or transfer site.To motivate the relevance of uncertainty-aware models in the domain, we focus on the connection protection application as a case study: An expert system to determine whether a bus driver should hold and wait for a connecting service, thus ensuring the connection, or break the connection and reduce its own delay. Our results show that the proposed quantile sampling method performs overall best for the 80%, 90% and 95% prediction intervals, both for a 15 min time horizon into the future (𝑡 + 1), but also for the 30 and 45 min time horizon (𝑡+ 2 and 𝑡+ 3), with a constant, but very small underestimation of the uncertainty interval (1–4 pp.). However, we also show, that the Bayesian model still can outperform the DQR for specific cases. Lastly, we demonstrate how a simple decision support system can take advantage of our uncertainty-aware travel time models to prioritize the difference in travel time uncertainty for bus holding at strategic points, thus reducing the introduced delay for the connection protection application.

When two distinguished professors get together to tell us one hundred stories with the purpose of helping us to be happier, we should pay attention. In addition to the scientific demonstration that storytelling enhances behavior change, the authors make this change occur through physical activity, which responds more effectively to the challenges that the modern world poses to us. Starting from the theoretical/scientific knowledge of the benefits of physical activity for our happiness and choosing storytelling as a privileged mechanism to instill this behavioral change, Filipe Rodrigues and Pedro Morouço manage to take us on a journey down the memory lane, in which we come across stories we heard as children, transporting us to a time when it was so much easier to be physically active. At the end of the journey through the one hundred stories told in this book, we arrive at a destination called happiness. The pedagogical way in which each story is presented and the moral complement to it, lead us to a world of fables and allegories, easily understood by everyone and which compels us to have a more ethically responsible and physically active attitude. By pointing happiness as a destiny, Rodrigues and Morouço follow in the noble footsteps, for example, of America´s founding fathers when, in the Declaration of Independence, they state that “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” When I accepted the honorable invitation to write these brief lines that serve as a preface to the book “Storytelling for Behavior Change in physical activity”, I thought, from what I knew about the quality of the authors, that I would have the privilege of reading a magnificent book before other people. Now, with the book already read, I just want to share it and to advise everyone to read it, so that they can have the same privilege that I had. The privilege was not having read it before the others. The privilege, now in range of everybody, is only to read the book. Believing that happiness is a feeling that grows as it is shared, I hope that many can read this book so that we can all share the happiness that a lifestyle that combines a more active physical behavior and a more responsible moral attitude brings us. The aim of this article is to analyze the expansion of the global market of private military companies in the field of cyber operations and to reflect on the possibility of State responsibility for the actions of these non-state actors. From a methodological point of view, the research has an exploratory character, since it deals with a topic that has been understudied in the literature. The technique used includes a bibliographic review based on academic articles and international documents. The article is divided into two parts. The first part highlights the expansion of the use of communications and information technologies and the emergence of private military companies in cybersecurity. The second part discusses the possibilities of holding states accountable for cyber operations conducted by private military companies. As a partial result, the emergence of a global market of private military companies in cybersecurity could be observed. The attribution of state responsibility in the case of cyber operations conducted by private actors can be analyzed from three perspectives: technical, political, and legal. As for the legal perspective, the literature points to divergences between the application of the theories of effective control and overall control.

The mixed multinomial logit model assumes constant preference parameters of a decision-maker throughout different choice situations, which may be considered too strong for certain choice modelling applications. This paper proposes an effective approach to model context-dependent intra-respondent heterogeneity, thereby introducing the concept of the Context-aware Bayesian mixed multinomial logit model, where a neural network maps contextual information to interpretable shifts in the preference parameters of each individual in each choice occasion. The proposed model offers several key advantages. First, it supports both continuous and discrete variables, as well as complex non-linear interactions between both types of variables. Secondly, each context specification is considered jointly as a whole by the neural network rather than each variable being considered independently. Finally, since the neural network parameters are shared across all decision-makers, it can leverage information from other decision-makers to infer the effect of a particular context on a particular decision-maker. Even though the context-aware Bayesian mixed multinomial logit model allows for flexible interactions between attributes, the increase in computational complexity is minor, compared to the mixed multinomial logit model. We illustrate the concept and interpretation of the proposed model in a simulation study. We furthermore present a real-world case study from the travel behaviour domain - a bicycle route choice model, based on a large-scale, crowdsourced dataset of GPS trajectories including 119,448 trips made by 8,555 cyclists.

Huntington’s disease (HD) is a neurodegenerative disease and one of few trinucleotide repeat disorders. HD is the result of an abnormal expansion of a DNA segment known as CAG. This expansion occurs within the huntingtin gene (HTT), causing the encoding of a mutant huntingtin protein (mHTT). This appears to be toxic to neuronal cells and can lead to nerve cell damage. Many antibodies have been developed to target HTT, aiding HD research. However, there are problems in the lack of information on their validation status and key attributes. This review aims to cover the validation status and attribute information of all current antibodies raised against mHTT.

Competitive sports involve physiological, technical and psychological skills, which influence directly on individuals’ performance. This study aims to investigate the levels of perceived stress and Heart Rate Variability (HRV) before and after matches with victory and defeat in professional eSports athletes. Our hypothesis was that the winners would have better autonomic and stress responses after match, thus corroborating the literature on neurocardiac connections. Fifty male eSport players were selected players from 10 different Brazilian teams. The experiment was carried out in 2 sessions. Firstly, after signing the informed consent form, 24 h before the game, anthropometric, physical activity levels and time of expertise data were recorded only for sample characterization and the players were familiarized with the perceived stress scale—10 (PSS-10) and the HRV measurements. Secondly, players performed the PSS-10 and HRV recording at rest by 10 min 60 and 30 min before the game (i.e., baseline time) and 10 min after the end of the game. Overall, concerning PSS-10 our findings show that VG had significant reduced scores in post-game time compared to baseline (BL) and pre-game times, while DG had significant increased scores in post-game time compared to BL and pre-game times. Regarding HRV, our results demonstrate that VG had significant increase in RR, SDNN, rMSSD, pNN50 and HF, and significant decrease in LF and LF/HF, while DG had a significant decrease in RR, SDNN, rMSSD and HF, and significant increase in LF and LF/HF. It was observed that VG had better HRV responses (greater parasympathetic activation) as well as lower levels of perceived stress, while DG had worst HRV responses (greater sympathetic activation) and higher levels of perceived stress. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

Predicting travel time under rare temporal conditions (e.g., public holidays, school vacation period, etc.) constitutes a challenge due to the limitation of historical data. If at all available, historical data often form a heterogeneous time series due to high probability of other changes over long periods of time (e.g., road works, introduced traffic calming initiatives, etc.). This is especially prominent in cities and suburban areas. We present a vector-space model for encoding rare temporal conditions, that allows coherent representation learning across different temporal conditions. We show increased performance for travel time prediction over different baselines when utilizing the vector-space encoding for representing the temporal setting.

Portugal não possui um cadastro predial atualizado o que se traduz no desconhecimento da propriedade em 20% do território português. Neste contexto, pretende-se com o desenvolvimento da plataforma SICAP (Sistema de Informação Cadastral e Administração de Propriedades), contribuir para a disponibilização de ferramentas úteis no apoio à elaboração e gestão do cadastro predial através do registo de dados alfanuméricos e geográficos das propriedades de acordo com o previsto no SICS (Sistema de Informação Cadastral Simplificado) segundo as diretivas da INSPIRE (Infrastructure for Spatial Information in Europe) e compatíveis com a norma internacional LADM (Land Administration Domain Model). A plataforma foi ainda complementada com funcionalidades que permitem realizar operações simples de análise e a visualização de métricas e estatísticas dos dados associados às propriedades registadas. Over the last years, the transportation community has witnessed a tremendous amount of research contributions on new deep learning approaches for spatio-temporal forecasting. These contributions tend to emphasize the modeling of spatial correlations, while neglecting the fairly stable and recurrent nature of human mobility patterns. In this short paper, we show that a naive baseline method based on the average weekly pattern and linear regression can achieve comparable results to many state-of-the-art deep learning approaches for spatio-temporal forecasting in transportation, or even outperform them on several datasets, thus contrasting the importance of stationarity and recurrent patterns in the data with the importance of spatial correlations. Furthermore, we establish 9 different reference benchmarks that can be used to compare new approaches for spatio-temporal forecasting, and provide a discussion on best practices and the direction that the field is taking., 6 pages

The objective of this work was to determine in vitro the growth curve of Enterolobium contortisiliquum calli. Calli from E. contortisiliquum cotyledons cultivated in MS medium, supplemented with 0.5 mg L-1 2,4-D + 2.0 mg L-1 picloram + 0.5 mg L-1 kinetin + 2.0 mg L-1 BAP and repeated twice were used., at intervals of 30 days. After the second subculture, the calli growth curve was established by determining the fresh mass (mg) from the day of inoculation (time 0). The experimental design was completely randomized with 17 treatments, constituted by the evaluation intervals (0, 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56, 63, 70, 77, 84, 91, 98, 105 and 112 days), and 24 repetitions. E. contortisiliquum presented five phases of callus development: exponential, linear, deceleration, stationary and decay. The calli growth curve for the species E. contortisiliquum started with the exponential phase and remained in this phase from days 0 to 7. The linear growth period in which the cell division rate decreased and the cell area increased was observed between the days 7 and 14. While the deceleration phase occurred from 14 to 28 days. It can be concluded that the growth curve of E. contortisiliquum calli is a sigmoid with five phases and at the end of the deceleration it is time to carry out the calli subculture, on average at 28 days of in vitro culture. El objetivo de este trabajo fue determinar in vitro la curva de crecimiento de callos de Enterolobium contortisiliquum. Se utilizaron callos de cotiledones de E. contortisiliquum cultivados en medio MS, suplementados con 0.5 mg L-1 de 2,4-D + 2.0 mg L-1 de picloram + 0.5 mg L-1 de kinetina + 2.0 mg L-1 de BAP y repetido dos veces, a intervalos de 30 días. Después del segundo subcultivo, se estableció la curva de crecimiento del callo determinando la masa fresca (mg) desde el día de la inoculación (tiempo 0). El diseño experimental fue completamente aleatorizado con 17 tratamientos, constituido por los intervalos de evaluación (0, 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, 56, 63, 70, 77, 84, 91, 98, 105 y 112 días) y 24 repeticiones. E. contortisiliquum presentaba cinco fases de desarrollo de callos: exponencial, lineal, desaceleración, estacionaria y decadencia. A curva de crescimento do calo para a espécie E. contortisiliquum começou com a fase exponencial e permaneceu nesta fase dos dias 0 a 7. Já o período de crescimento linear em que diminuiu a taxa de divisão celular e aumentou a área celular foi observado entre os dias 7 e 14. Enquanto a fase de desaceleração ocorreu dos 14 aos 28 dias. Conclui-se que a curva de crescimento dos calos de E. contortisiliquum é uma sigmoide com cinco fases e ao final da desaceleração é o momento de se realizar a repicagem dos calos, em média aos 28 dias de cultivo in vitro.

Predicting the supply and demand of transport systems is vital for efficient traffic management, control, optimization, and planning. For example, predicting where from/to and when people intend to travel by taxi can support fleet managers to distribute resources; better predicting traffic speeds/congestion allows for pro-active control measures or for users to better choose their paths. Making spatio-temporal predictions is known to be a hard task, but recently Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) have been widely applied on non-euclidean spatial data. However, most GNN models require a predefined graph, and so far, researchers rely on heuristics to generate this graph for the model to use. In this paper, we use Neural Relational Inference to learn the optimal graph for the model. Our approach has several advantages: 1) a Variational Auto Encoder structure allows for the graph to be dynamically determined by the data, potentially changing through time; 2) the encoder structure allows the use of external data in the generation of the graph; 3) it is possible to place Bayesian priors on the generated graphs to encode domain knowledge. We conduct experiments on two datasets, namely the NYC Yellow Taxi and the PEMS road traffic datasets. In both datasets, we outperform benchmarks and show performance comparable to state-of-the-art. Furthermore, we do an in-depth analysis of the learned graphs, providing insights on what kinds of connections GNNs use for spatio-temporal predictions in the transport domain.

Realtidsforudsigelser af passagerefterspørgsel på jernbanen kan bidrage til smartere trafikstyring og på sigt til at udvikle et offentligt transportsystem som på forskellig vis imødekommer ekstraordinær efterspørgsel. Dette kræver adgang til detaljeret information om efterspørgselsmønstre i form af løbende indsamling af passagertal for hvert par af oprindelses- og destinationsstationer i korte tidsintervaller. I dette studie udvikles en machine learning model til forudsigelser af afvigelser fra det periodiske efterspørgselsmønster på Københavns S-bane i 15 minutters intervaller ved hjælp af realtidsdata fra Rejsekortet på efterspørgselssiden og Banedanmarks driftsstatistikker på udbudssiden. Studiet belyser dels betydningen af udbud for forudsigelse af efterspørgsel og dels udforskes måden hvorpå spatiotemporal data indlejres i modeller fra dyb læring for at opnå nøjagtige forudsigelser for mange-dimensionale og sparsomme data som disse.

BACKGROUND Huntington's disease (HD) is a rare neurodegenerative disorder with protean clinical manifestations. Its management is challenging, consisting mainly of off-label treatments. OBJECTIVES The International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society commissioned a task force to review and evaluate the evidence of available therapies for HD gene expansion carriers. METHODS We followed the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) approach. Eligible randomized controlled trials were identified via an electronic search of the CENTRAL, MEDLINE, and EMBASE databases. All eligible trials that evaluated one or more of 33 predetermined clinical questions were included. Risk of bias was evaluated using the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool. A framework was adapted to allow for efficacy and safety conclusions to be drawn from the balance between the GRADE level of evidence and the importance of the benefit/harm of the intervention. RESULTS Twenty-two eligible studies involving 17 interventions were included, providing data to address 8 clinical questions. These data supported a likely effect of deutetrabenazine on motor impairment, chorea, and dystonia and of tetrabenazine on chorea. The data did not support a disease-modifying effect for premanifest and manifest HD. There was no eligible evidence to support the use of specific treatments for depression, psychosis, irritability, apathy, or suicidality. Similarly, no evidence was eligible to support the use of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, exercise, dietary, or surgical treatments. CONCLUSIONS Data for therapeutic interventions in HD are limited and support only the use of VMAT2 inhibitors for specific motor symptoms. �� 2021 International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society.

Railway operations involve different types of entities (stations, trains, etc.), making the existing graph/network models with homogenous nodes (i.e., the same kind of nodes) incapable of capturing the interactions between the entities. This paper aims to develop a heterogeneous graph neural network (HetGNN) model, which can address different types of nodes (i.e., heterogeneous nodes), to investigate the train delay evolution on railway networks. To this end, a graph architecture combining the HetGNN model and the GraphSAGE homogeneous GNN (HomoGNN), called SAGE-Het, is proposed. The aim is to capture the interactions between trains, trains and stations, and stations and other stations on delay evolution based on different edges. In contrast to the traditional methods that require the inputs to have constant dimensions (e.g., in rectangular or grid-like arrays) or only allow homogeneous nodes in the graph, SAGE-Het allows for flexible inputs and heterogeneous nodes. The data from two sub-networks of the China railway network are applied to test the performance and robustness of the proposed SAGE-Het model. The experimental results show that SAGE-Het exhibits better performance than the existing delay prediction methods and some advanced HetGNNs used for other prediction tasks; the predictive performances of SAGE-Het under different prediction time horizons (10/20/30 min ahead) all outperform other baseline methods; Specifically, the influences of train interactions on delay propagation are investigated based on the proposed model. The results show that train interactions become subtle when the train headways increase . This finding directly contributes to decision-making in the situation where conflict-resolution or train-canceling actions are needed., 29 pages; 8 figures; 7 tables

The aim of the current exploratory study was to test the mediation role of subjective vitality in the relation between the intensity-traits and exercise habit, thus helping to understand the role of preference and tolerance in well-being and behavioral outcomes. The sample comprised 299 gym exercisers (39% men) with an average age of 36.4 years (SD = 10.61). In general, the present sample of exercisers manifested a preference and tolerance for moderate intensity exercises/activities. The intensity traits were positively associated with subjective vitality and exercise habit, and vitality partially mediated both models. Globally, the intensity-traits presented small to moderate effects in the tested variables. Both preference and tolerance presented positive associations with vitality and habit in the present study and results depict some preliminary evidence that the intensity-traits related to exercise may be relevant for health club professionals adjust their intervention aiming to promote a better subjective experience and exercise adherence. info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

Introduction: reconstructing the ossicular chain is a challenging act for the otologist. The material to be used must be biocompatible, easy to manipulate and have certain biomechanical properties. Titanium prostheses, with a low weight, high rigidity and good mechanical strength, allow for good acoustic transmission. Objective: to discuss the benefits of using these prostheses in different surgical scenarios. Material and methods: retrospective study of 35 cases operated by the same surgeon involving reconstruction of the middle ear with titanium prostheses. Results: in 13 cases, PORP was used, achieving a postoperative air-bone gap of less than 20dB in 85% of patients. In the remaining 22, TORP was used, with a success rate of 68%. Conclusion: titanium prostheses are an excellent option when it is necessary to reestablish the continuity of the ossicular chain. A preparação organizacional para a incorporação de novos conhecimentos e difusão da inovação nos processos inerentes à prática clínica constitui-se como essencial para implementar intervenções baseadas na evidência, capazes de responder aos desafios com que se confrontam quaisquer sistemas de cuidados de saúde. Esta evidência decorre do valor do conhecimento, no domínio da saúde e da colisão entre esse conhecimento e a prática, traduzindo uma lacuna entre o que o sistema de saúde deve oferecer e o que realmente oferece. Estudo descritivo exploratório, enquadrado no paradigma quantitativo, com recurso ao questionário Organizational Readiness for Knowledge Translation (OR4KT), para proceder à avaliação do nível de preparação organizacional de uma instituição hospitalar, para a translação do conhecimento e a sua incorporação na prática clínica. Registámos um bom nível de preparação organizacional, acumulando 193,44 pontos, dos 295 possíveis, traduzindo uma perceção positiva dos participantes. Reuniu maior classificação, a dimensão “Clima Organizacional para a Mudança”, com a média de 34,07 (DP=5,521), num total possível de 50 pontos, onde cerca de 50% dos participantes concordaram com as afirmações “os profissionais habitualmente são rápidos para se entreajudarem quando necessário” e “os profissionais trabalham em equipa.” A dimensão da “Liderança” acumulou a menor representação, com a média de 31,26 (DP=6,185), dos 50 possíveis, destacando-se a atitude neutral de 60% dos participantes, relativamente à afirmação “os parceiros externos estão envolvidos no processo de planeamento”, e onde apenas 30,9% concordam que “os gestores proporcionam ao pessoal feedback / resultados sobre os efeitos das decisões clínicas”. Confirmamos e infirmamos várias correlações, estatisticamente significativas, nas dimensões da escala e escala total, relativamente a algumas variáveis profissionais. Consideramos positivos os resultados, sugerindo, nas equipas, a presença de coesão e abertura orientada para a mudança, considerando a utilização da evidência como um valor organizacional. No entanto, entendemos preocupante o grau neutral com que os participantes responderam à maioria das questões. Verificámos, nas lideranças, dificuldades no processo de planeamento e avaliação, bem como nas atividades promotoras do envolvimento dos colaboradores, pelo que será fundamental o desenvolvimento destas competências nas lideranças, bem como a responsabilização das organizações de saúde, determinantes que não podem ser descurados nem deixados ao acaso. Os resultados observados vão ao encontro de outros estudos similares. Os achados deste estudo permitiram identificar, na organização, algumas condições facilitadoras e dificultadoras do processo de implementação de mudanças, sejam de cariz individual ou organizacional, que nunca deverão ser consideradas de forma isolada, mas como um todo, na medida em que cada organização é única, logo exposta a maior ou menor influência de diferentes fatores do contexto organizacional. Organizational readiness for the incorporation of new knowledge and diffusion of innovations in the processes inherent to clinical practice is essential to implement evidencebased practices, capable of responding to the challenges faced by any healthcare system. This evidence derives from the value of knowledge in the health domain and the collision between this knowledge and practice, revealing a gap between what the health system should offer and what it actually offers. In this exploratory descriptive study, framed in the quantitative paradigm and using the Organizational Readiness for Knowledge Translation (OR4KT) questionnaire, the aim was to assess the level of organizational preparation of a hospital institution, determining the translation of knowledge and its incorporation into clinical practice. We registered a good level of organizational readiness, accumulating 193.44 points out of the 295 possible, reflecting a positive perception of the participants. The "Organizational climate for change" dimension gathered the highest rating, with an average of 34.07 (SD=5.521), out of a possible total of 50 points, where about 50% of the participants agreed with the statements "Professionals usually are quick to help each other when needed" and "Professionals work as a team”. The "Leadership" dimension accumulated the lowest representation, with an average of 31.26 (SD=6.185), out of the 50 points possible, highlighting the neutral attitude of 60% of the participants, regarding the statement "External partners are involved in the planning process”, and only 30.9% agreed that “Managers provide staff with feedback/results on the effects of clinical decisions”. We confirmed, and infirmed, several statistically significant correlations with reference to the scale and full scale, regarding some professional variables. We consider the results positive suggesting among the teams, that there should be the presence of cohesion and openness oriented towards change, considering the use of evidence as an organizational value. However, we found unsettling the degree to which participants responded to most questions. In leaders, there are difficulties in the planning and evaluation processes, along with activities promoting the involvement of employees, so it will be essential to develop these skills in leaders, as well as the accountability of healthcare organizations, determining factors that cannot be neglected or left to chance. The results obtained are in agreement with other similar studies. The findings of this study allowed the identification, in the healthcare organization, of some conditions that facilitate and/or hinder the process of implementing changes, whether of individual or organizational nature, which should never be considered in isolation, but as a whole, as each organization is unique and, therefore, exposed to greater or lesser influence of different factors in the organizational context.

This work aims to provide an experience report on the exploration of digital literacies in the context of emergency remote education (ERE), presenting the perception of scholarship students about Scientific Initiation (SI) activities carried out through Digital Information Technologies and Communication (DITC). The relevance of the theme is justified by the pressing need for changes in the educational sphere, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The epistemological anchorage comes from theories that discuss scientific initiation, digital literacies and the videominute discursive genre, proposed by the national guiding document, National Common Curriculum Base (NCCB). The chosen research methodology is qualitative, empirically based, arising from the experience report of SI students. The analysis categories were “academic training and digital literacy”. The investigation results pointed to the usefulness of digital literacies in SI in the teaching and learning process of the undergraduate student, as it impacted on academic training, in the professional sphere and awakened to the continuation of studies at the post-graduation level. Regarding the pandemic context, the methodological path indicated that it required disruptive changes that evoked the domain of digital literacies, changing the practice of researchers and indicating the need for better preparation of those involved, through the multiple digital literacies required in the digital sphere, in a small amount of time. Este trabajo tiene como objetivo proporcionar un relato de experiencia sobre la explotación de los letramentos digitales, en el contexto de la educación remota de emergencia (ERE), presentando la percepción de los estudiantes becarios sobre las actividades de Iniciación Científica (IC) realizadas a través de las Tecnologías Digitales de Información y Comunicación (TDIC). La relevancia del tema se justifica por la imperiosa necesidad de cambios en el ámbito educativo, debido a la pandemia de COVID-19. El anclaje epistemológico proviene de teorías que discuten la iniciación científica, los letramentos digitales y el género discursivo videominuto, propuestas por el documento brasileño para la educación Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BNCC). La metodología de investigación elegida es cualitativa, de base empírica, que surge del relato de experiencia de los estudiantes de IC. Las categorías de análisis fueron “formación académica y letramentos digitales”. El resultado de la investigación apuntó a la utilidad de los letramentos digitales en IC, en el proceso de enseñanza y aprendizaje, del estudiante de grado en Letras, ya que incidió en la formación académica, en el ámbito profesional y le despertó a la continuación de estudios a nivel stricto sensu. En cuanto al contexto pandémico, la trayectoria metodológica indicó que requerió cambios disruptivos que evocaron el dominio de los letramentos digitales, cambiando la práctica de los investigadores e indicando la necesidad de una mejor preparación de los involucrados, a través de los múltiples letramentos digitales requeridos en la esfera digital, en un corto tiempo. Este trabalho tem como objetivo proceder um relato de experiência sobre a exploração dos letramentos digitais, em contexto de ensino remoto emergencial (ERE), apresentando a percepção dos alunos bolsistas sobre as atividades de Iniciação Científica (IC) realizadas por meio das Tecnologias Digitais de Informação e Comunicação (TDIC). A relevância da temática justifica-se na necessidade premente de alterações ocorridas na esfera educacional, devido à pandemia de COVID-19. A ancoragem epistemológica advém de teorias que discorrem sobre iniciação científica, letramentos digitais e o gênero discursivo videominuto, proposto pelo documento norteador nacional Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BNCC). A metodologia de pesquisa elegida é a qualitativa, de base empírica, advinda do relato de experiência dos alunos de IC. As categorias de análise foram “formação acadêmica e letramentos digitais”. O resultado da investigação apontou para a proficuidade dos letramentos digitais na IC, no processo de ensino e aprendizagem, do aluno de graduação, visto que impactou na formação acadêmica, na esfera profissional e despertou para o prosseguimento dos estudos a nível de stricto sensu. No tocante ao contexto de pandemia, o percurso metodológico indicou que este requereu mudanças disruptivas que evocaram o domínio de letramentos digitais, alterando a práxis dos pesquisadores e indicando a necessidade de um melhor preparo dos envolvidos, mediante os múltiplos letramentos digitais requeridos na esfera digital, em um exíguo espaço de tempo.

Pitaya has great potential for marketing and processing. However, the lack of knowledge about its cultivation is still a barrier that prevents its diffusion in the country. The objective of this study was to analyze the changes that occur during the growth and ripening of white-fleshed dragon fruit. Physical and physicochemical and chemical fruit characterization analyzes were conducted at several development stages (7, 14, 21, 28, 35 and 42 days after anthesis). Increases in length, fruit mass and pulp, yield and soluble solids were observed, as well as reductions in skin thickness, strength and pulp pH. Significant and important levels in mineral for the human diet were found, especially nitrogen, potassium, calcium, manganese, iron and zinc. Intense changes in seed maturation and biomass accumulation occoured during the fruit growth phase, while in the maturation stage the main changes are related to the improvement of the organoleptic characteristics such as acidity reduction and content of soluble solids, besides the reduction of the mass and thickness of the skin. The ideal harvest point, whereas organoleptic characteristics and visual aspects, is around 35 days, when fruit reached physiological maturity; however, at 42 days, the fruit pulp still had sufficient quality for consumption. La pitaia tiene un gran potencial de mercado y procesamiento. Sin embargo, el desconocimiento sobre su cultivo sigue siendo una barrera que impide su difusión en el país. Así, el objetivo fue evaluar los cambios fisicoquímicos de los frutos de pitaia (Hylocereus undatus) recolectados en diferentes etapas de desarrollo así como determinar el período ideal de cosecha. Se realizaron análisis visuales y físicos, físico-químicos y químicos en diferentes etapas de desarrollo (7, 14, 21, 28, 35 y 42 días después de la antesis). Los análisis fueron: masa de frutos, pulpa y piel, rendimiento, diámetro longitudinal y transversal, índice de forma, espesor de piel, firmeza de la pulpa, sólidos solubles, pH, acidez, proporción, color de piel y contenido mineral en la pulpa de los frutos. En general, hay aumentos en longitud, masa de frutos y pulpa, rendimiento y sólidos solubles y reducciones en el grosor de la piel, firmeza y pH de la pulpa. El color de la piel cambia de tonos amarillo verdosos en frutos inmaduros a rojo intenso cuando maduran. Si bien existe una reducción de minerales con el desarrollo del fruto, se encuentran niveles significativos e importantes para la dieta humana, con énfasis en nitrógeno, potasio, calcio, manganeso, hierro y zinc. Se observan cambios marcados en las características de los frutos con el desarrollo. La masa, el diámetro y la proporción máximos de frutos ocurren a los 35 días, mientras que la masa, el rendimiento y los sólidos solubles de la pulpa ocurren a los 42 días después de la antesis. El punto ideal de cosecha, teniendo en cuenta características organolépticas y aspectos visuales es alrededor de los 35 días, cuando alcanza la madurez fisiológica, sin embargo, a los 42 días, la pulpa del fruto aún se encuentra con calidad para el consumo. A pitaia apresenta grande potencial de mercado e processamento. Porém, a falta de conhecimento sobre seu cultivo ainda é uma barreira que impede sua difusão no país. Assim, objetivou-se avaliar as alterações físico-químicas dos frutos de pitaia (Hylocereus undatus) colhidos em diferentes estágios de desenvolvimento bem como determinar o período ideal de colheita. Foram realizadas análises visuais e de caracterização física, físico-química e química em diferentes estádios de desenvolvimento (7, 14, 21, 28, 35 e 42 dias após a antese). As análises foram: massa do fruto, polpa e casca, rendimento, diâmetro longitudinal e transversal, índice de formato, espessura da casca, firmeza da polpa, sólidos solúveis, pH, acidez, ratio, coloração da casca e teor de minerais na polpa dos frutos. De modo geral, observa-se incrementos no comprimento, massa do fruto e polpa, rendimento e sólidos solúveis e reduções na espessura da casca, firmeza e pH da polpa. A coloração da casca muda de tons verde-amarelo em frutos imaturos para vermelho intenso ao amadurecerem. Embora ocorra redução de minerais com o desenvolvimento do fruto, são encontrados teores significativos e importantes para a dieta humana, com destaque para nitrogênio, potássio, cálcio, manganês, ferro e zinco. São observadas mudanças marcantes nas características dos frutos com o desenvolvimento. As máximas de massa do fruto, diâmetros e ratio ocorrem aos 35 dias, enquanto que a massa da polpa, rendimento e sólidos solúveis ocorrem aos 42 dias após antese. O ponto ideal de colheita, levando-se em conta características organolépticas e aspectos visuais é em torno dos 35 dias, quando alcança maturidade fisiológica, porém, aos 42 dias, a polpa do fruto ainda se encontra com qualidade para consumo.

This study aimed at analyzing the effect of the motivational climate induced by coaches in young athletes’ effort perception, through a hybrid model, developed based on the Achievement Goal Theory and the Self-Determination Theory. Data from 803 male athletes aged between 14 and 20 years (M=17.60; SD=2.21), with a weekly training frequency between 2 to 6 times a week (M=3.56; SD=.85) and workout duration between 60 to 300 minutes (M=99.75; SD=21.08) was analyzed. Participants completed four questionnaires previously translated and validated for Portuguese in the context of sport. Goodness-of-fit indexes of the measurement model and the structural model showed acceptable fit. All regressions proved to be significant, taking into account theoretical assumptions. The indirect effects show that the task-oriented climate positively predicts the perceived effort, both through autonomous motivation and through controlled motivation. Conversely, ego-oriented climates had a negative and significant indirect effect on perceived effort, regardless of the motivational regulation. In practical terms, young athletes' coaches should focus on the learning process and on developing new skills among the athletes, value progress and effort, individually and as a team, and creating a balanced and harmonious engagement between athletes. Este estudo focou-se na análise do impacto do clima motivacional induzido pelos treinadores na perceção de esforço por parte de jovens atletas praticantes de futebol, através de um modelo hí­brido, considerando como quadros teóricos motivacionais a Teoria dos Objetivos de Realização e a Teoria da Autodeterminação. Foram analisados dados de 803 atletas masculinos com idades compreendidas entre os 14 e 20 anos (M=17.60; DP=2.21), com uma frequência de treino semanal entre 2 a 6 vezes por semana (M=3.56; DP=.85) e duração entre 60 a 300 minutos (M=99.75; DP= 1.08). Os participantes preencheram quatro questionários previamente traduzidos e validados para a lí­ngua portuguesa no contexto do desporto. Os valores de ajustamento indicam aceitação do modelo de medida e do modelo de equações estruturais. Todas as regressões revelaram ser significativas, tendo em conta os pressupostos teóricos. Os efeitos indiretos mostram que o clima orientado para a tarefa prediz positivamente a perceção de esforço, tanto por via da motivação autônoma, como por via da motivação controlada. Contrariamente, um clima orientado para o ego apresenta um efeito indireto negativo e significativo na perceção de esforço, independentemente da regulação motivacional. Em termos práticos, os treinadores devem concentrar-se na aprendizagem dos jovens atletas e no desenvolvimento de novas capacidades. Além disso, é de extrema importância que o progresso e esforço, quer a ní­vel do atleta quer a ní­vel geral da equipa, sejam reforçados e parabenizados pelo treinador, de forma a promover um envolvimento equilibrado e harmonioso entre atletas. Este estudio se centró en el análisis del impacto del clima motivacional inducido por los entrenadores sobre la percepción del esfuerzo de los jóvenes futbolistas, a través de un modelo híbrido, considerando como marcos teóricos motivacionales la Teoría de las Metas de Logro y la Teoría de la Autodeterminación. . Se analizaron datos de 803 atletas masculinos con edades entre 14 y 20 años (M=17,60; DE=2,21), con una frecuencia de entrenamiento semanal entre 2 y 6 veces por semana (M=3,56; DE=0,85) y duración entre 60 y 300 minutos (M=99,75; DE=1,08). Los participantes completaron cuatro cuestionarios previamente traducidos y validados al portugués en el contexto del deporte. Los valores de ajuste indican la aceptación del modelo de medición y el modelo de ecuación estructural. Todas las regresiones demostraron ser significativas, teniendo en cuenta los supuestos teóricos. Los efectos indirectos muestran que el clima orientado a la tarea predice positivamente la percepción de esfuerzo, tanto a través de la motivación autónoma como a través de la motivación controlada. Por el contrario, un clima orientado al ego tiene un efecto indirecto negativo significativo sobre el esfuerzo percibido, independientemente de la regulación motivacional. En términos prácticos, los entrenadores deben centrarse en aprender atletas jóvenes y desarrollar nuevas habilidades. Además, es sumamente importante que el progreso y el esfuerzo, tanto a nivel del atleta como a nivel general del equipo, sean reforzados y felicitados por el entrenador, con el fin de promover una participación equilibrada y armoniosa entre los atletas. Foram analisados dados de 803 atletas masculinos com idades compreendidas entre os 14 e 20 anos (M=17.60; DP=2.21), com uma frequência de treino semanal entre 2 a 6 vezes por semana (M=3.56; DP=.85) e duração entre 60 a 300 minutos (M=99.75; DP= 1.08). Os participantes preencheram quatro questionários previamente traduzidos e validados para a lí­ngua portuguesa no contexto do desporto. Os valores de ajustamento indicam aceitação do modelo de medida e do modelo de equações estruturais. Todas as regressões revelaram ser significativas, tendo em conta os pressupostos teóricos. Os efeitos indiretos mostram que o clima orientado para a tarefa prediz positivamente a perceção de esforço, tanto por via da motivação autônoma, como por via da motivação controlada. Contrariamente, um clima orientado para o ego apresenta um efeito indireto negativo e significativo na perceção de esforço, independentemente da regulação motivacional. Em termos práticos, os treinadores devem concentrar-se na aprendizagem dos jovens atletas e no desenvolvimento de novas capacidades. Além disso, é de extrema importância que o progresso e esforço, quer a ní­vel do atleta quer a ní­vel geral da equipa, sejam reforçados e parabenizados pelo treinador, de forma a promover um envolvimento equilibrado e harmonioso entre atletas. Questo studio si è concentrato sull'analisi dell'impatto del clima motivazionale indotto dagli allenatori sulla percezione dello sforzo da parte dei giovani atleti di calcio, attraverso un modello ibrido, considerando la Teoria degli Obiettivi di Realizzazione e la Teoria dell'Autodeterminazione come quadri teorici motivazionali. . Sono stati analizzati i dati di 803 atleti maschi di età compresa tra 14 e 20 anni (M=17,60; SD=2,21), con una frequenza di allenamento settimanale compresa tra 2 e 6 volte a settimana (M=3,56; SD=.85) e durata compresa tra 60 e 300 minuti (M=99,75; SD=1,08). Background: The frequency of late-onset Huntington's disease (>59 years) is assumed to be low and the clinical course milder. However, previous literature on late-onset disease is scarce and inconclusive. Objective: Our aim is to study clinical characteristics of late-onset compared to common-onset HD patients in a large cohort of HD patients from the Registry database. Methods: Participants with late- and common-onset (30–50 years)were compared for first clinical symptoms, disease progression, CAG repeat size and family history. Participants with a missing CAG repeat size, a repeat size of ≤35 or a UHDRS motor score of ≤5 were excluded. Results: Of 6007 eligible participants, 687 had late-onset (11.4%) and 3216 (53.5%) common-onset HD. Competitive sports involve physical and cognitive skills. In traditional sports, there is a greater dependence on the development and performance of both motor and cognitive skills, unlike electronic sports (eSports), which depend much more on neurocognitive skills for success. However, little is known about neurocognitive functions and effective strategies designed to develop and optimize neurocognitive performance in eSports athletes. One such strategy is transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), characterized as a weak electric current applied on the scalp to induce prolonged changes in cortical excitability. Therefore, our objective is to propose anodal (a)-tDCS as a performance-enhancing tool for neurocognitive functions in eSports. In this manuscript, we discussed the neurocognitive processes that underlie exceptionally skilled performances in eSports and how tDCS could be used for acute modulation of these processes in eSports. The inoculation of growth-promoting bacteria has already shown benefits in different cultures such as increased biomass production for the growth of roots and stems, greater resistance to water stress conditions and changes in their physiological properties. Plant growth promoting bacteria have stood out for their potential application in plant production, allowing the reduction of the use of fertilizers and pesticides, which is due to the ability to stimulate the growth of plants by biological means by nitrogen fixation and production of phytohormones , such as indole-3-acetic acid (IAA). The aim of this study was to verify the potential for promoting plant growth of 25 wild bacteria from the Agricultural Microbiology Culture Collection at the Federal University of Lavras (CCMA-UFLA) by assessing the capacity for biological nitrogen fixation and IAA production; select growth-promoting bacteria, in addition to evaluating the effect of 3 isolates on seedlings of Musa sp. grown in vitro. The experiment was conducted in a completely randomized design (CRD), containing 3 treatments, plus the control, with 30 explants per treatment. The bacterium CCMA0056 caused the death of all seedlings in vitro. Banana growth is reduced when inoculated with the bacteria Azospirillum brasilense and Enterobacter cloacae. Inserido nas XXII jornadas da Sociedade Portuguesa de Psicologia do Desporto, subordinadas ao tema “Investigação e Prática: de Todos e para Todos”, o propósito deste workshop é promover uma partilha de experiências e contextos de intervenção na área do desporto e atividade física adaptados. Assim, após um enquadramento conceptual teórico, os participantes vão conhecer o trabalho desenvolvido no CRID (Centro de Recursos para a Inclusão Digital) da ESECS – Politécnico de Leiria. Posteriormente, e numa parte prática, vão ser proporcionadas experiências em diferentes modalidades adaptadas, bem como as possibilidades de intervenção em contexto escolar/desportivo, nomeadamente tendo por base critérios como a utilização dos recursos espaciais e materiais e sua adaptação a diferentes tipologias de deficiência. Shared mobility services require accurate demand models for effective service planning. On the one hand, modeling the full probability distribution of demand is advantageous because the entire uncertainty structure preserves valuable information for decision-making. On the other hand, demand is often observed through the usage of the service itself, so that the observations are censored, as they are inherently limited by available supply. Since the 1980s, various works on Censored Quantile Regression models have performed well under such conditions. Further, in the last two decades, several papers have proposed to implement these models flexibly through Neural Networks. However, the models in current works estimate the quantiles individually, thus incurring a computational overhead and ignoring valuable relationships between the quantiles. We address this gap by extending current Censored Quantile Regression models to learn multiple quantiles at once and apply these to synthetic baseline datasets and datasets from two shared mobility providers in the Copenhagen metropolitan area in Denmark. The present study aimed to examine the association between fitness instructors’ interpersonal behaviors and motivational climates and exercise adherence. Two studies were conducted: in the first study, the effect of need-supportive and need-thwarting behaviors on basic psychological needs, and consequently on exercise adherence was analyzed; in the second study, the effect of ego and task-involving motivational climates on basic psychological needs, and consequently on exercise adherence was examined. Data was collected from several exercisers engaged in fitness activities in several gym and health clubs in Portugal. The results showed a positive association between need-supportive behaviors, task-involving climate, and basic psychological needs. These needs were respectively positively and significantly correlated with exercise adherence. Contrarily, need-thwarting behaviors displayed a negative, while ego-involving climates no association at all, with basic psychological needs. Overall, the data clearly shows an association between the way the fitness instructor is perceived by the exerciser and the number of accesses that the exerciser will have in the six months following the moment of the initial assessment. Therefore, fitness instructors have a considerable capacity to positively influence the exerciser's adherence, by creating a supportive environment during the training session., O presente estudo avaliou o efeito dos comportamentos interpessoais e dos climas motivacionais dos instrutores na adesão futura à prática de exercício físico. Para dar resposta a este objetivo, realizaram-se dois estudos com duas amostras independentes: no primeiro, analisou-se o efeito dos comportamentos de suporte e de frustração nas necessidades psicológicas básicas e a sua associação com a adesão; no segundo estudo, examinou-se o efeito dos climas motivacionais com envolvimento para a tarefa e para a ego nas necessidades psicológicas básicas, sendo estas por sua vez associadas à adesão à prática de exercício físico. Foram recolhidos dados de praticantes de atividades fitness inseridos em diversos ginásios e health clubs em Portugal. Os resultados evidenciaram uma associação positiva entre os comportamentos de suporte, e do clima motivacional com envolvimento para a tarefa, e a satisfação das necessidades psicológicas básicas. As necessidades psicológicas básicas por sua vez encontram-se associadas de forma positiva e significativa com a adesão à prática. Pelo contrário, os comportamentos de frustração apresentam uma associação negativa com as necessidades psicológicas básicas e o clima motivacional com envolvimento para o ego não apresenta nenhuma associação com as necessidades psicológicas básicas. Em suma, os resultados demostram claramente uma associação entre a forma como o instrutor de fitness é percecionado pelo praticante e o número de acessos que o praticante terá nos seis meses seguintes ao do momento de avaliação inicial. Assim sendo, os profissionais de exercício físico têm uma capacidade considerável de influenciar positivamente a adesão do praticante, ao criarem um ambiente de suporte durante a sessão de treino.

Mestrado em Contabilidade, Fiscalidade e Finanças Empresariais O goodwill é um tema que tem gerado bastante discussão na literatura. Enquanto que alguns autores defendem o atual método da imparidade, outros acham que este método não fornece informação relevante para os utilizadores das demostrações financeiras. Neste sentido, a UE emitiu a Diretiva 2013/34/UE que recomenda às empresas que adotem o método da amortização no que respeita à contabilização subsequente do goodwill. A Air Liquide aplica o método da imparidade no cálculo do seu goodwill. Este estudo tem como o objetivo estudar o impacto da alteração do método de contabilização do goodwill, para o método da amortização, nas demonstrações financeiras com base em dois cenários. O primeiro cenário consiste em atribuir uma vida útil de 10 anos a todo o goodwill, enquanto que no segundo cenário, o goodwill do segmento de negócio Gás tem uma vida útil de 40 anos e o restante goodwill uma vida de 20 anos. Uma vez que a empresa possui uma elevada percentagem do ativo representado por goodwill, a aplicação do método da amortização levou a uma redução materialmente relevante do ativo da empresa (-58,82% no cenário I e -20,66% no cenário II), devido à redução do valor do goodwill da empresa. A aplicação do método da amortização levou ainda a um aumento dos gastos de amortização o que gerou um impacto negativo nas demostrações financeiras da empresa. Os rácios financeiros e de rendibilidade foram afetados de forma negativa. No entanto, os rácios de Rendibilidade do Capital Próprio e ROA tiveram uma variação positiva. Goodwill is a topic that has generated o lot of discussion in the literature. While some authors defend the current method of impairment, other believe that this method also lead to an increase in does not provide useful information for the users of financial statements. That said, the EU issued the Directive 213/14/EU which recommends companies to adopt the amortization method when doing the subsequent accounting for goodwill. Air Liquide applies the impairment method when accounting for goodwill. This study aims to analyze the impact of changing the method of accounting for goodwill, to the amortization method, on the financial statements based on two scenarios. On the first scenario all goodwill has a useful life of 10 years, while on the second scenario, all goodwill allocated to the business segment Gas has a useful life of 40 years and the remaining goodwill a useful life of 20 years. The company has a high asset percentage represented by goodwill and the application of the amortization method led to a material reduction in the company's asset (-58,82% on the scenario I and -20,66% on scenario II), due to the goodwill reduction. The application of the amortization method also led to an increase in the amortization expenses, which had a negative impact on the company's financial statements. Mestrado em Economia Monetária e Financeira O estouro da bolha imobiliária nos EUA que culminou na crise financeira de 2008-09 reacendeu o interesse no estudo das vulnerabilidades que resultam de elevados níveis de alavancagem financeira. Para estudar a relação entre a alavancagem e os preços dos ativos, esta dissertação apresenta um modelo que replica uma economia com dois períodos, dois ativos diferentes, sendo um mais arriscado que o outro, onde dois estados da natureza podem ocorrer. As crenças heterogéneas dos agentes que pertencem a esta economia resultam em diferentes expectativas acerca do retorno esperado do ativo com risco. Esta heterogeneidade dita que apenas os agentes mais otimistas participam do mercado de ativos de risco. Assim, quando o crédito é introduzido nesta economia essa taxa de participação diminui em função do aumento do preço do ativo com risco. Do modelo apresentado retira-se que a taxa de retorno do ativo com risco depende positivamente do índice de alavancagem do agente (ou rácio Financiamento-Garantia). Esta dissertação realiza ainda uma análise de regressão multivariada, através de dados trimestrais do mercado de habitação que constam na base de dados do BCE, e descobre que a taxa de retorno da habitação na área euro reage negativamente ao aumento da alavancagem financeira das famílias observado no trimestre em análise, mas tem uma reação positiva e mais forte ao nível de alavancagem observado no trimestre anterior. Estes resultados sugerem que a taxa de retorno do mercado imobiliário pode demorar a responder a alterações nos requisitos dos financiamentos hipotecários. The housing bubble burst following the emergence of leverage-fuelled property booms observed in the US culminated in the financial crisis of 2008-09 did regain the interest on the vulnerabilities that result from higher levels of leverage. To capture the relation between leverage and its influence on asset bubbles, this paper presents a model to replicate an economy with two periods, two different assets, with one riskier than the other, where two states of nature can occur. The heterogeneous beliefs of agents belonging to this economy result in different assignments on the expected return of the risky asset which in turn dictates that only the more optimistic agents participate in the risky asset market. When agents have access to credit to purchase the risky asset, this participation rate diminishes as a result of the increasing price of the risky asset. One can also derive from this model that the rate of return of the risky asset depends positively on the agent?s leverage ratio (or Loan-to-Value ratio). By using quarterly housing data from the European Central Bank Data Warehouse, this paper does a multivariate regression analysis to find the housing return rate in the Euro area reacts negatively to increasing households? leverage observed in the current quarter, but has a higher positive reaction from the leverage level observed in the previous quarter. O objetivo deste trabalho foi verificar o nível de ploidia de plantas diploides, mixoploides e tetraploides de bananeira (Musa acuminata Colla) obtidas há quatro anos e sua relação com a anatomia foliar. Mudas de bananeira foram submetidas à duplicação de cromossomos in vitro mediante exposição dos ápices à colchicina (concentrações e tempos variados). Após o processo foram contabilizados os diploides, mixoploides e tetraploides. Após quatro anos, a ploidia dos materiais foi novamente verificada por citometria de fluxo e a anatomia das folhas foi realizada para determinar uma possível relação. A análise estomática e citométrica foram eficientes para verificação de ploidia das plantas tetraploides. As plantas originais tetraploides e a maioria das mixoploides mantiveram-se estáveis geneticamente até o final deste estudo. No entanto, as brotações apresentaram-se diploides e mixoploides.

This research aimed to evaluate the effect of silicon on the physical and chemical fruit traits and the incidence of pest insects in Physalis peruviana. The experiment was carried out in a randomized block design, with three treatments: T1- control (absence of silicon); T2- Agrisil® (8 g L-1 of SiO2) and T3- ​​Insecto® (40 g L-1 of SiO2 derived from diatomaceous earth), with 14 blocks for entomological analysis and 10 blocks for the fruit traits. The silicon promoted an increase in the longitudinal (40 g L-1 of SiO2) and transverse (8 g L-1 or 40 g L-1 of SiO2) fruit with chalice diameter, and also in the transverse diameter without chalice (8 g L-1 of SiO2). On the other hand, no significant effects were found between silicon sources and the control for the longitudinal diameter without chalice and soluble solids content. For the entomofauna, there was no significant difference between treatments regarding the incidence of whitefly nymphs, green leafhopper and coleoptera (sp. 1). However, silicon (8 g L-1 or 40 g L-1 of SiO2) promoted a lower incidence of the adult stage of the whitefly, probably due to the non-preference of this stage of the insect by plants treated with silicon. Thus, it is concluded that the silicate leaf fertilization contributes to the increase of the fruit physical characteristics and reduces the incidence of whitefly adults in P. peruviana. Este trabajo tuvo como objetivo evaluar el efecto del silicio sobre las características físicas y químicas de los frutos y sobre la incidencia de plagas de insectos en Physalis peruviana. El experimento se realizó en un diseño de bloques al azar, siendo tres tratamientos el control T1- (ausencia de silicio); T2- Agrisil® (8 g L-1 de SiO2) y T3- Insecto® (40 g L-1 de SiO2 derivado de tierra de diatomeas), con 14 bloques para análisis entomológico y 10 bloques para caracterización de frutos. El silicio promovió un aumento en los diámetros longitudinal (40 g L-1 de SiO2) y transversal (8 g L-1 o 40 g L-1 de SiO2) de los frutos con copa, y también en el diámetro transversal sin copa (8 g L- 1 de SiO2). Por otro lado, no se encontraron efectos significativos entre las fuentes de silicio y el control del diámetro longitudinal sin contenido de cáliz y sólidos solubles. En cuanto a la entomofauna, no hubo diferencia significativa entre tratamientos en cuanto a la incidencia de mosca blanca, ninfas saltahojas y coleópteros (sp. 1). Por otro lado, el silicio (8 g L-1 o 40 g L-1 de SiO2) promovió una menor incidencia del estadio adulto de la mosca blanca, probablemente debido a la no preferencia de este estadio del insecto por las plantas tratadas con silicio. Así, se concluye que la fertilización foliar con silicio contribuye al aumento de las características físicas de los frutos y reduce la incidencia de adultos de mosca blanca en P. peruviana. Este trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o efeito do silício nas características físicas e química dos frutos e na incidência de insetos-praga em Physalis peruviana. O experimento foi realizado em delineamento em blocos casualizados, com três tratamentos sendo T1- testemunha (ausência de silício); T2- Agrisil® (8 g L-1 de SiO2) e T3- Insecto® (40 g L-1 de SiO2 derivado de terra diatomácea), com 14 blocos para análises entomológicas e 10 blocos para caracterização dos frutos. O silício promoveu incremento no diâmetro longitudinal (40 g L-1 de SiO2) e transversal (8 g L-1 ou 40 g L-1 de SiO2) dos frutos com cálice, e também no diâmetro transversal sem cálice (8 g L-1 de SiO2). Em contrapartida, não foram constatados efeitos significativos entre as fontes de silício e a testemunha para o diâmetro longitudinal sem cálice e teor de sólidos solúveis. Quanto à entomofauna, não houve diferença significativa entre os tratamentos quanto à incidência de ninfas de mosca-branca, cigarrinha verde e o coleóptero (sp. 1). Por outro lado, o silício (8 g L-1 ou 40 g L-1 de SiO2) promoveu menor incidência da fase adulta da mosca-branca, provavelmente devido a não preferência dessa fase do inseto pelas plantas tratadas com silício. Assim, conclui-se que a adubação foliar silicatada contribui para o incremento das características físicas dos frutos e reduz a incidência dos adultos de mosca-branca em P. peruviana.

CAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior Seguindo os preceitos estabelecidos por Koerner (1995) e a metodologia apresentada por Swiggers (2012) para o estudo da Historiografia da Linguística, o objetivo desse trabalho, desenvolvido no âmbito do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Linguística da Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora (UFJF), é apresentar uma tradução comentada inédita do primeiro livro do primeiro tratado gramatical latino que chegou até nós (HOLTZ, 2010[1981]; HOVDHAUGEN, 1995), atribuído ao gramático Mario Plócio Sacerdote. Para tanto, investigamos, em primeira instância, o “clima de opinião” (KOERNER, 1995) que envolvia o gramático e sua obra – dividida em três livros e datada do século III –, bem como expusemos o contexto social que cercava o ofício de gramático durante aquele tempo. Nosso segundo passo foi fazer uma análise do corpus, estabelecendo sua divisão estrutural com o intuito de conceber uma melhor compreensão do texto e apontando aspectos relevantes da obra, a partir do segundo princípio apresentado por Koerner (1995), o princípio da imanência. Por último, aplicamos à nossa tradução o princípio da adequação (KOERNER, 1995), de modo que foram feitas aproximações relacionadas ao vocabulário técnico sem que os termos latinos perdessem sua essência, instrínseca ao contexto em que aparecem. A tradução comentada do primeiro livro da ars de Sacerdote, em primeiro lugar, nos permitiu fazer uma análise crítica da obra mais detalhada e visa não só conceder o acesso à obra por aqueles que não dominam o latim ou não possuam conhecimento sobre a tradição gramatical latina, mas também permitir que, através de um diálogo intercultural e interlinguístico, o leitor moderno vislumbre, com o auxílio de anotações e comentários, os trechos que, a priori, soariam obscuros – contribuindo, assim, para uma melhor compreensão do texto. Following the precepts established by Koerner (1995) and the methodology presented by Swiggers (2012) to the study of Historiography of Linguistics, this work, developed in the scope of the Post-Gratuation in Linguistics Program of the Federal Univerisity of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), aims at presenting an original commented translation of the first book of the first Latin grammatical treatise that reached us, attributed to Marius Plotius Sacerdos. To do so, we have investigated, in the first instance, the “climate of opinion” (KOERNER 1995) that concerned the grammarian and his work – which is divided in three books and dated back to the third century – as well as displayed the social context that surrounded the occupation of a grammarian during that time. Our next step was to analyse the corpus, establishing its structural division in order to conceive a better understanding of the text and pointing out some of its relevant aspects, based on the second principle proposed by Koerner (1995), the immanance principle. Finally, we have applied to our translation the principle of adequation (KOERNER, 1995) so that were made some approximations of the technical vocabulary, so the Latin terms did not lose their essence, instrinsic to the context in which they appear. The commented translation of the first book of Sacerdos’ ars, firstly, has allowed us to make a more detailed critical analysis and aims at, not only, providing the work access to people who do not master Latin or do not possess any knowledge about the Latin grammatical tradition, but also allowing the modern reader, through an intercultural and interlinguistic dialogue, to envisage, with the help of notes and commentaries, the excerpts that, a priori, would sound obscure – contributing to a better understanding of the text.

Mobility-on-demand (MoD) systems represent a rapidly developing mode of transportation wherein travel requests are dynamically handled by a coordinated fleet of vehicles. Crucially, the efficiency of an MoD system highly depends on how well supply and demand distributions are aligned in spatio-temporal space (i.e., to satisfy user demand, cars have to be available in the correct place and at the desired time). To do so, we argue that predictive models should aim to explicitly disentangle between temporal} and spatial variability in the evolution of urban mobility demand. However, current approaches typically ignore this distinction by either treating both sources of variability jointly, or completely ignoring their presence in the first place. In this paper, we propose recurrent flow networks (RFN), where we explore the inclusion of (i) latent random variables in the hidden state of recurrent neural networks to model temporal variability, and (ii) normalizing flows to model the spatial distribution of mobility demand. We demonstrate how predictive models explicitly disentangling between spatial and temporal variability exhibit several desirable properties, and empirically show how this enables the generation of distributions matching potentially complex urban topologies., Comment: 16 pages, 6 figures

Variational inference methods have been shown to lead to significant improvements in the computational efficiency of approximate Bayesian inference in mixed multinomial logit models when compared to standard Markov-chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods without compromising accuracy. However, despite their demonstrated efficiency gains, existing methods still suffer from important limitations that prevent them to scale to very large datasets, while providing the flexibility to allow for rich prior distributions and to capture complex posterior distributions. In this paper, we propose an Amortized Variational Inference approach that leverages stochastic backpropagation, automatic differentiation and GPU-accelerated computation, for effectively scaling Bayesian inference in Mixed Multinomial Logit models to very large datasets. Moreover, we show how normalizing flows can be used to increase the flexibility of the variational posterior approximations. Through an extensive simulation study, we empirically show that the proposed approach is able to achieve computational speedups of multiple orders of magnitude over traditional MSLE and MCMC approaches for large datasets without compromising estimation accuracy., Comment: 12 pages, 3 figures

This study presents a semi-nonparametric Latent Class Choice Model (LCCM) with a flexible class membership component. The proposed model formulates the latent classes using mixture models as an alternative approach to the traditional random utility specification with the aim of comparing the two approaches on various measures including prediction accuracy and representation of heterogeneity in the choice process. Mixture models are parametric model-based clustering techniques that have been widely used in areas such as machine learning, data mining and patter recognition for clustering and classification problems. An Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm is derived for the estimation of the proposed model. Using two different case studies on travel mode choice behavior, the proposed model is compared to traditional discrete choice models on the basis of parameter estimates' signs, value of time, statistical goodness-of-fit measures, and cross-validation tests. Results show that mixture models improve the overall performance of latent class choice models by providing better out-of-sample prediction accuracy in addition to better representations of heterogeneity without weakening the behavioral and economic interpretability of the choice models.

With an increased focus on minimizing traffic externalities in metropolitan areas, a growing interest in environmentally friendly and shared mobility systems has emerged, such as electric car-sharing systems. However, increasing demand and larger area coverage often make it difficult to keep cars available where and when customers need them. This problem can be alleviated by predicting for how long cars stay vacant at given pick-up/drop-off locations. To maximize their usage, it can be more beneficial to relocate the cars at certain periods to more desired locations. In this paper, we tackle the problem of predicting time-to-pickup for shared cars in a probabilistic way as a function of time by applying time-to-event modelling through survival analysis. Both statistical and deep neural network approaches to survival regression were investigated. The Cox proportional hazards model (CPH) is compared to the deep neural network model DeepSurv. To predict survival times, a two-step approach was formulated, where in the upper level a classification is used to classify cars into two groups based on idle time duration, whereas in the lower level for each given group time-to-event modelling is applied. DeepSurv method demonstrated a stronger fit compared to CPH.
