The objective: to study the changes in the lung microbiota in inbred C57BL/6 mice after aerogenic infection with M. tuberculosis in an experimental tuberculosis model.Subjects and Methods. This study was carried out on 20 female mice of inbred line C57BL/6 weighing 20-22 grams which were infected in a Glas-Col aerosol chamber (USA) with the culture of M. tuberculosis of virulent strain H37Rv at the dose of 400 CFU/lung. Morphological and microbiological assessment of the lungs state was performed before (day 0) (n=5) and 7 (n=5), 30 (n=5) and 60 (n=5) days after the infection. The results obtained were subjected to statistical processing using ANOVA test and Student t-test.Results. 7, 30, and 60 days after aerosol infection with M. tuberculosis against the background of successive morphological and microbiological changes typical of the experimental tuberculosis model, we established an imbalance of bacterial population in the lung microbiota. Before infection with M. tuberculosis, a scanty biotope was recorded with a predominance of lactobacilli –Lactobacillus murinus, Lactobacillus apodeme. 7, 30 and 60 days after infection with M. tuberculosis, consistent changes were recorded, such as increase in the number and diversity of the bacterial population. The most indicative markers of the recorded imbalance were: Streptococcus thoraltensis, Streptococcus acidominiminus, Arthrobacter crystallopoietes, Staphylococcus hominis, Micrococcus luteus.Conclusion. Tuberculosis infection is a significant factor affecting the state of the lung microbiota. With increased duration of the infection with M. tuberculosis, imbalance of the bacterial flora is formed in the lungs of C57BL/6 mice, accompanied by characteristic tissue inflammation and growing mycobacterial load.

Torque ripple compensation problem is considered for electrical drives, based on low-cost direct drive interior perma-nent magnet synchronous motors. Robustness properties of the speed and position control systems have been studied using time scale separation properties of the current, speed and position control loops. It is shown that system closed-loop dynamics according to new controller design has cascaded properties with speed and position control loops con-nected in series and therefore has potential of high frequency torque ripple compensation by increasing controllers gains. Experimental results are presented for two motors with similar rated data but significantly different level of the torque ripple. It is shown that despite of significand difference in parasitic torque amplitude, the similar position con-trol performance can be achieved. It makes proposed control algorithms suitable for both high dynamic performance and low-cost direct drive applications with medium performance requirements. References 13, figures 7.

We have developed an explicit finite-difference modeling scheme for the scalar acoustic wave equation in tilted transverse isotropic (TTI) media, which is computationally efficient in terms of speed and memory and can be used for reverse time migration. Our method uses local spatial operators optimized in the least-squares sense by matching the discrete operator in the wavenumber domain. The calculated operator is applied locally to the wavefield in the space-time domain when the medium is TTI and turns into a conventional finite-difference operator when the medium is isotropic. Our wavefield modeling is stable with no limits such as [Formula: see text] on anisotropic parameters and does not generate S-wave artifacts. The accuracy and the efficiency of our modeling scheme are demonstrated for homogeneous, two half-space TTI, and the BP 2007 TTI models.

The relevance of this study is due to the need to assess the functioning of the cellular component of the immune system in dynamics in sows before insemination, during periods of gestation and lactation in the norm and in the event of postpartum pathology.The purpose of the research is to study cellular immunity in sows in different physiological conditions. The article presents the results of a study of cellular immunity in sows before insemination, during periods of gestation and lactation in normal and postpartum pathology in an industrial pigbreeding complex. Cellular immunity indicators were determined in the blood: T- and Blymphocytes, theophylline-resistant (Ttfr), theophylline-sensitive (Ttfh) lymphocytes and their ratio (Ttfr/Ttfh) in accordance with the "Methodological recommendations for assessing and correcting the immune status of animals" .Statistical processing of the obtained data was carried out using the program Statistica v6.1, reliability assessment - Student's test. It has been established that before insemination, diseased animals have reduced cellular adaptive immunity compared to clinically healthy sows. With the onset of gestation (37-39 days), sows of both groups showed suppression of cellular immunity, which is necessary to ensure the tolerance of the mother's body to fetal alloantigens, the normal course of pregnancy and fetal development, which was more significant in diseased animals. In the second half of gestation (78-80 days), the marked increase in cellular adaptive immunity in sows of both groups is associated with the effect of antigens of the administered vaccines, which was more pronounced in clinically healthy animals. During lactation, the cellular immune response to the administered vaccines in diseased sows was also less significant.

An adaptive observer for frequency and magnitude of two-phase symmetrical sinusoidal signal is presented. It is de-signed based on control concept of internal model approach. The observer guarantees global exponential estimation and high performance. If the information about one of the two-phase signal components is missing, a modified structure of the observer is proposed. This case is equivalent to the measurement of a single-phase sinusoidal signal. The proper-ties of local exponential stability of single-phase signal observer are proved using Lyapunov’s conversion theorem for disturbed systems. The robustness of the two-phase signal observer with respect to additive disturbances (high-frequency noise, varying frequency) is confirmed by simulation results. It is shown that the observer estimation speed can be arbitrarily increased by increasing the feedback gains. A method for single-phase harmonic signal frequency observer tuning is developed, which ensures the expansion of the stability region. References 14, figures 7.

Abstract The deposition of several alternating anion- and cation-exchange surface layers (layer-by-layer method) is a promising technique for the modification of ion-exchange membranes, which makes it possible to essentially increase their selectivity to singly charged ions. This paper presents a one-dimensional model, which is based on the Nernst–Planck–Poisson equations and describes the competitive transfer of singly and doubly charged ions through a multilayer composite ion-exchange membrane. It has been revealed for the first time that, as in the earlier studied case of a bilayer membrane, the dependence of the specific permselectivity coefficient (P1/2) of a multilayer membrane on the electrical current density passes through a maximum $$\left( {P_{{{1 \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {1 2}} \right. \kern-0em} 2}}}^{{\max }}} \right).$$ It has been shown that an increase in the number of nanosized modification bilayers n leads to the growth of $$P_{{{1 \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {1 2}} \right. \kern-0em} 2}}}^{{\max }},$$ but the flux of a preferably transferred ion decreases in this case. It has been established that $$P_{{{1 \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {1 2}} \right. \kern-0em} 2}}}^{{\max }}$$ is attained at underlimiting current densities and relatively low potential drop. The simulated dependences $$P_{{{1 \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {1 2}} \right. \kern-0em} 2}}}^{{\max }}$$(n) qualitatively agree with the known literature experimental and theoretical results.

Arteriovenous malformations are one of the variants of congenital vascular malformations resulting from a defect in the development of the arterial and venous systems with the formation of direct messages between vessels of different diameters and shunting of blood with high velocity characteristics from the arterial to the venous part of the vascular system. Arteriovenous malformations are characterized by a wide variety of clinical manifestations and in some cases may be accompanied by severe circulatory disorders. Arteriovenous lung malformation (AVML) accounts for a small fraction of the AVM structure. The defect consists in the presence of arteriovenous anastomoses at the level of segmental, subsegmental and smaller vascular divisions. This article presents a case of detection of a rare malformation of arteriovenous malformation of the lower lobe of the right lung.

Behcet disease is autoimmune vasculitis with predominantly mucocutaneous manifestations; eye, gastrointestinal and nervous system involvement is also possible. Behcet disease is relatively rare in pediatric population.This article presents the case of Behcet’s disease in a 17-year-old boy, with a usual delay in the diagnosis, the absence of internal organs involvement and successful first-line therapy (colchicine).

The modern economy is characterized by a sharp increase in the role of non-material factors (information and knowledge) in ensuring the competitiveness of individual enterprises and institutions, as well as national economies as a whole. Under these conditions, the ability to create, use and increase intellectual capital is the basis for the economic growth of engineering business entities. The main purpose of the study is to model the counteraction to the main threats of intellectual capital for innovation-oriented systems in the engineering sector of the economy. The relevance of the study is given by the fact that the formation and use of technical, economic, industrial, and other types of knowledge, the totality of which forms intellectual capital, is becoming an urgent problem for modern systems tuned to innovative development. The threats to managing the intellectual capital of innovation-oriented systems are now the most significant, since the achievement of the ultimate goals of the system itself depends on the efficiency of the use of intellectual capital. Taking this into account, intellectual capital is becoming a real and valuable target of criminal encroachments today, which requires scientists to form a clear model for countering these goals. The research methodology involves the use of mathematical methods of information support for the process of counteracting the negative impact of threats. According to the results of the study, we presented the modeling process. As a result, a model was built to counteract the main threats of intellectual capital for innovation-oriented systems in the engineering sector of the economy. Further research requires the construction of a mathematical mechanism for responding to new challenges to the intellectual capital management system for innovation-oriented systems.

Thermosensitive systems based on poloxamer 407 are widely used in targeted drug delivery; however, the stability of the phase transition temperature remains insufficiently studied. This article presents the results of a study on the effect of adding polyethylene glycols (PEG) with different molecular weights and some classical gel-forming polymers on the gelation temperature of thermoreversible compositions based on poloxamer 407 in a long-term experiment. The study showed a positive effect of PEG addition with average molecular weights at concentrations of 1.5–2.0%, as well as gelling agents at a concentration below the critical gelation concentration. The proposed rheological test for studying the samples’ adhesion can give an indirect forecast of the composition adhesive rate. Based on the conducted studies, three experimental binary systems based on poloxamer 407 were selected, with the addition of HPMC 0.5%, sodium alginate 0.5%, and PEG 1500 1.5%. These systems are the most promising for the further development of in situ targeted drug delivery systems.

Electron beam additive manufacturing from dissimilar metal wires was used to intermix 5, 10 and 15 vol.% of Ti-Al-Mo-Z-V titanium alloy with CuAl9Mn2 bronze on a stainless steel substrate. The resulting alloys were subjected to investigations into their microstructural, phase and mechanical characteristics. It was shown that different microstructures were formed in an alloy containing 5 vol.% titanium alloy, as well as others containing 10 and 15 vol.%. The first was characterized by structural components such as solid solution, eutectic intermetallic compound TiCu2Al and coarse grains of γ1-Al4Cu9. It had enhanced strength and demonstrated steady oxidation wear in sliding tests. The other two alloys also contained large flower-like Ti(Cu,Al)2 dendrites that appeared due to the thermal decomposition of γ1-Al4Cu9. This structural transformation resulted in catastrophic embrittlement of the composite and changing of wear mechanism from oxidative to abrasive.

A flux observer for induction motors which is adaptive to the active rotor resistance variations is presented. Due to the added fluxes overestimation in the observer structure, the global exponential stability properties of the current and flux vector components and active rotor resistance estimation are ensured under conditions of persistency of excitation. The proposed observer has a simpler structure compared to existing solutions with the global stability properties. The simulation results of the observer dynamic performance investigation confirm its effectiveness. It is shown that even if the conditions of persistency of excitation are not met, the active rotor resistance is estimated correctly; consequently, the designed observer can be implemented as an identification algorithm in self-commissioning systems of induction electric drives. The effect of tensile strains on the microstructure of Hadfield steel was studied by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Stages of the obtained stress–strain curves were observed, and correlated well with the evolution of the dislocation substructure. Based on an analysis of TEM images, quantitative parameters were determined, such as the material volume fractions, in which slip and twinning occurred, as well as twinning, which developed in one, two and three systems. Some transformation mechanisms were reported that caused great hardening of Hadfield steel. In particular, a complex defect substructure formed in a self-organized manner due to the formation of cells, the dislocations retarded by their walls, as well as the deceleration of dislocations on twins and, vice versa, of twins on dislocations. These factors affected both the average and excess local density of dislocations. Additionally, they resulted in elastic stress fields, which manifested themselves in the curvature–torsion gradient of the crystal lattice. A high level of stresses caused by solid-solution strengthening prevented the relaxation of elastic ones, contributing to the strain hardening of the Hadfield steel.

Innovative ion exchange membranes have become commercially available in recent years. However, information about their structural and transport characteristics is often extremely insufficient. To address this issue, homogeneous anion exchange membranes with the trade names ASE, CJMA-3 and CJMA-6 have been investigated in NaxH(3−x)PO4 solutions with pH 4.4 ± 0.1, 6.6 and 10.0 ± 0.2, as well as NaCl solutions with pH 5.5 ± 0.1. Using IR spectroscopy and processing the concentration dependences of the electrical conductivity of these membranes in NaCl solutions, it was shown that ASE has a highly cross-linked aromatic matrix and mainly contains quaternary ammonium groups. Other membranes have a less cross-linked aliphatic matrix based on polyvinylidene fluoride (CJMA-3) or polyolefin (CJMA-6) and contain quaternary amines (CJMA-3) or a mixture of strongly basic (quaternary) and weakly basic (secondary) amines (CJMA-6). As expected, in dilute solutions of NaCl, the conductivity of membranes increases with an increase in their ion-exchange capacity: CJMA-6 < CJMA-3 << ASE. Weakly basic amines appear to form bound species with proton-containing phosphoric acid anions. This phenomenon causes a decrease in the electrical conductivity of CJMA-6 membranes compared to other studied membranes in phosphate-containing solutions. In addition, the formation of the neutral and negatively charged bound species suppresses the generation of protons by the “acid dissociation” mechanism. Moreover, when the membrane is operated in overlimiting current modes and/or in alkaline solutions, a bipolar junction is formed at the CJMA- 6/depleted solution interface. The CJMA-6 current-voltage curve becomes similar to the well-known curves for bipolar membranes, and water splitting intensifies in underlimiting and overlimiting modes. As a result, energy consumption for electrodialysis recovery of phosphates from aqueous solutions almost doubles when using the CJMA-6 membrane compared to the CJMA-3 membrane.

The entrance of even a small amount of phosphorus compounds into natural waters leads to global problems that require the use of modern purification technologies. This paper presents the results of testing a hybrid electrobaromembrane (EBM) method for the selective separation of Cl− (always present in phosphorus-containing waters) and H2PO4− anions. Separated ions of the same charge sign move in an electric field through the pores of a nanoporous membrane to the corresponding electrode, while a commensurate counter-convective flow in the pores is created by a pressure drop across the membrane. It has been shown that EBM technology provides high fluxes of ions being separated across the membrane as well as a high selectivity coefficient compared to other membrane methods. During the processing of solution containing 0.05 M NaCl and 0.05 M NaH2PO4, the flux of phosphates through a track-etched membrane can reach 0.29 mol/(m2×h). Another possibility for separation is the EBM extraction of chlorides from the solution. Its flux can reach 0.40 mol/(m2×h) through the track-etched membrane and 0.33 mol/(m2×h) through a porous aluminum membrane. The separation efficiency can be very high by using both the porous anodic alumina membrane with positive fixed charges and the track-etched membrane with negative fixed charges due to the possibility of directing the fluxes of separated ions in opposite sides.

In the conditions of the milk production complex in the Voronezh region, where Holstein cattle are kept, studies were conducted to study the degree of injury to blood cells during its selection by various methods in healthy calves and with endogenous intoxication syndrome. In healthy animals, blood sampling by passive leakage does not affect the membranes of erythrocytes. When using vacuum systems, there are no visual signs (hemolysis) of cell destruction, but changes in their cytoskeleton occur with an increase in the sensitivity of membranes to negative pre-analytical factors. In animals with endogenous intoxication syndrome, there are explicit or hidden destruction of erythrocyte membranes, which are manifested by an increase in the content of extra-erythrocyte hemoglobin, the degree of physiological hemolysis, sensitivity to intra- and extravascular hemolytic factors. As a result, already when selecting blood samples by passive gravity, there is a risk of hemolysis, and when using a vacuum system, it is observed in most samples. Therefore, when examining sick animals, it is necessary to take into account the high probability of laboratory diagnostic error at the pre-analytical stage that occurs due to hemolysis of erythrocytes with hypersensitivity to extravascular cytolytic factors, including mechanical effects during blood sampling.

The purpose of this work is to study and evaluate the impact of world commodity prices on the dynamics of investment in exporting countries of natural resources using the developed methodology under the influence of industry 4.0 aspects. Modern economic activity is accompanied not only by the impact of COVID-19, but also by the impact of the first manifestations of industry 4.0. This applies not only to export-import operations but also to the very need for them due to the cost of new technologies. Using mathematical methods, we investigate the impact of world commodity price indices, in particular, the general commodity price index, the agricultural commodity price index, the food price index, the metal price index, and the crude oil price index, on the dynamics of investment in commodity-type economies in both dimensions – level and volatility. The innovativeness of the study lies in determining the significance of the impact of world commodity prices on the dynamics of foreign direct investment (FDI) of raw material exporting countries (on the example of three groups of countries with different levels of economic development). The proposed methodology makes it possible to empirically evaluate the mechanisms of the macroeconomic impact of commodity prices on investment dynamics.

The paper investigates commercially pure titanium VT1-0 (US analog Grade 2) in the ultrafine grain state after the aluminum ion implantation at a fluence of 1∙1017, 5∙1017 and 10∙1017 ion/cm2. The investigation techniques include X-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray analysis, and transmission electron microscopy. Auger electron spectrometer is used to analyze the chemical composition of the implanted layer. The grain size in the longitudinal and transverse directions and the phase composition of ultrafine titanium are studied depending on the irradiation exposure. It is found that the ion implantation leads to the formation of such intermetallic compounds as Al3Ti and AlTi3 phases, β-phase titanium and aluminum oxide (Al2O3). The increased irradiation exposure results in the formation of a thicker implanted layer without changing its phase composition.

A speed observer for field-oriented controlled induction drives is presented. The proposed solution exploits the concept of the classic full-order flux observer which is adaptive to the rotor resistance variations. Due to the structural similarity of the rotor speed and active rotor resistance in motor model, the speed observer can be designed using similar structure. The observer guarantees local asymptotic estimation of the rotor fluxes, stator currents and rotor speed in all operating conditions, excluding DC stator excitation. The stability properties of the observer are studied using Lyapunov’s second method. It is experimentally shown that the observer provides an acceptable dynamics of the speed estimation if speed is slowly varying. The proposed observer is suitable for the applications with medium requirements for speed regulation performance. References 13, figures 5.

The article examines the institution of good faith as a basic legal category for general legal and industrial sciences. The authors point out that the relevance of the work is determined by the fact that the doctrine of Russian civil law is now paying more and more attention to fundamental legal concepts, categories and con-structions that make up the fundamental theoretical and methodological postulates of both general legal and industrial sciences. One of these categories, classically included in the structure of private law, is the concept of conscientiousness. The authors conduct a theoretical and legal analysis of the institution of integrity, highlighting different points of view, sometimes even opposite ones. At the same time, the authors make an attempt to identify the content of the criteria of good faith due to the fact that currently the legislation does not establish them. Also, in the process of researching the institution of good faith, the authors raise the question of the rela-tionship between the categories of «bad faith» and «abuse of law». In conclusion, the authors conclude that conscientiousness should be considered as a combination of ob-jective and subjective elements, which is due to the need to take into account when resolving a particular case as an internal attitude of a person to his actions from the point of view of his awareness of the illegality or legitimacy of his actions, the desire to cause damage to third parties. , or an excuseful error in their rightness.

In spite of wide variety of commercial ion-exchange membranes, their characteristics, in particular, electrical conductivity and counterion permselectivity, are unsatisfactory for some applications, such as electrolyte solution concentration. This study is aimed at obtaining an anion-exchange membrane (AEM) of high performance in concentrated solutions. An AEM is prepared with a polypyrrole (PPy)-based modification of a heterogeneous AEM with quaternary ammonium functional groups. Concentration dependences of the conductivity, diffusion permeability and Cl− transport number in NaCl solutions are measured and simulated using a new version of the microheterogeneous model. The model describes changes in membrane swelling with increasing concentration and the effect of these changes on the transport characteristics. It is assumed that PPy occupies macro- and mesopores of the host membrane where it replaces non-selective electroneutral solution. Increasing conductivity and selectivity are explained by the presence of positively charged PPy groups. It is found that the conductivity of a freshly prepared membrane reaches 20 mS/cm and the chloride transport number > 0.99 in 4 M NaCl. A choice of input parameters allows quantitative agreement between the experimental and simulation results. However, PPy has shown itself to be an unstable material. This article discusses what parameters a membrane can have to show such exceptional characteristics.

Analyzing the properties of the studied membranes, it was deter-mined that the ones that achieved the best behavior are the Mod-1-B and Mod-2-C membranes, which will later be tested with LiCl brines and dif-ferent impurities, to analyze the separation capacities. between divalent and monovalent ions, emphasizing lithium transport. Below are the SEM imag-es of the Mod-1-B and Mod-2-C membranes compared to the Nafion 117, where we can see the deposition of PDA/PEI over surface of modified membrane.

Eight mutations were identified by whole genome sequencing: single nucleotide insertions and deletions (in/del) distinguishing the MtbBN and H37Rv strains. The MtbBN strain demonstrated vaccine potential at the BCG level. Additionally, in some genetic models, the attenuated strain was highly effective in protecting inbred mice when infected with Mtb H37Rv as opposed to BCG.

In recent years, there has been growing interest in the use of stem cells as a therapeutic agent for the restoration of the damaged tissues and organs. We present a clinical case. Male, 39 y.o. Diagnosis: Glomerulonephritis. On 10/09/2012, he underwent heterotopic renal allotransplantation from a live relative donor. On 09/23/2020, he was admitted to the hospital due to renal allograft pyelonephritis. On 10/28/2020, a cell based donor umbilical cord blood product was infused. Cell therapy enabled to minimize the consequences of the graft damage, to preserve the graft function and satisfactory condition of the recipient.

Electrodialytic concentration of ammonium-containing liquid products of biochemical processing of municipal, industrial, and livestock wastewater is a promising method for obtaining cheap liquid fertilizers for agriculture. At the same time, it is known that electrodialysis of NH4Cl solutions fails to achieve the same high brine concentrations as in the case of other chlorides, for example, KCl. We show that the reason is high diffusion permeability of anion-exchange membranes (AEMs) to NH4Cl, which is due to the protonation–deprotonation reactions of ammonium coions during their transfer from an external solution to an internal AEM solution and vice versa. For the first time, a mathematical model of NH4Cl diffusion through AEM was proposed with allowance for these reactions. The experimental values of the diffusion permeability of an anion-exchange membrane AMX and a cation-exchange membrane CMX in NH4Cl and KCl solutions have been compared. between The results of calculating the diffusion permeability of the membrane AMX in NH4Cl solutions are in qualitative agreement with the experiment data.

Purpose – the purpose of our article is to study structural changes in the national economy using a portfolio model of sectors with different returns and, on this basis, processing the methodology for identifying the current state and instrumental factors of economic policy. Research methodology – the methodology of empirical research includes methods of grouping, abstraction, comparison, systems analysis, synthesis and generalization, graphical methods and regression analysis. To analyze the nature of the relationship between the index of structural changes and the dynamics of GDP, which determines the comparative profitability of the resource and non-resource sectors and the current position of the current structure relative to the equilibrium value, we used error-corrected models (ECMs). Findings – using regression models with error correction, a favourable long- and short-term relationship between structural changes in favour of non-resource exports and Ukraine’s GDP has been empirically confirmed. Using the index of structural changes, considering the ratio of raw materials and non-raw materials exports, the necessity of applying administrative measures is substantiated. Research limitations – the study concerned mainly the national economy of Ukraine, but in the future, attention should be paid to the application of the results of our study in other countries of Eastern Europe. In the future, the results obtained can be adapted for other countries of the world. The research was based on the use of specific mathematical methods, and not all mathematical possibilities were used. Electrodialysis (ED) is an attractive method of tartrate stabilization of wine due to its rapidity and reagentlessness. At the same time, fouling of ion-exchange membranes by the components of wine materials is still an unsolved problem. The effect of ethanol, polyphenols (mainly anthocyanins and proanthocyanidins) and saccharides (fructose) on the fouling of aliphatic ion-exchange membranes CJMA-6 and CJMC-5 (manufactured by Hefei Chemjoy Polymer Materials Co. Ltd., Hefei, China) was analyzed using model solutions. It was shown that the mechanism and consequences of fouling are different in the absence of an electric field and during electrodialysis. In particular, a layer of colloidal particles is deposited on the surface of the CJMA-6 anion-exchange membrane in underlimiting current modes. Its thickness increases with increasing current density, apparently due to the implementation of a trap mechanism involving tartaric acid anions, as well as protons, which are products of water splitting and “acid dissociation”. A successful attempt was made to clean CJMA-6 in operando by pumping a water-alcohol solution of KCl through the desalination compartment and changing electric field direction. It has been established that such a cleaning process suppresses the subsequent biofouling of ion-exchange membranes. In addition, selective recovery of polyphenols with high antioxidant activity is possible.

Electrodialysis with layer-by-layer coated membranes is a promising method for the separation of monovalent and polyvalent ions. Since the separation selectivity is significantly reduced in the presence of defects in the multilayer system, the stability of the modifiers becomes an important issue. This article reports the i-V curves of layer-by-layer coated membranes based on the heterogeneous MK-40 membrane before and after 50 h long electrodialysis of a solution containing sodium and calcium ions at an underlimiting current density, and the values of concentrations of cations in the desalination chamber during electrodialysis. It is shown that the transport of bivalent ions through the modified membranes is reduced throughout the electrodialysis by about 50%, but the operation results in decreased resistance of the membrane modified with polyethylenimine, which may suggest damage to the modifying layer. Even after electrodialysis, the modified membrane demonstrated experimental limiting current densities higher than that of the substrate, and in case of the membrane modified with polyallylamine, the limiting current density 10% higher than that of the substrate membrane.
