2. Sinosasa gracilis (Poaceae, Bambusoideae), a new combination supported by morphological and phylogenetic evidence

The results of phylogenetic analysis, based on the whole chloroplast genome and morphological study support the transfer of a long ignored bamboo species, Sasa gracilis, to the recently established genus, Sinosasa, in this study. Morphologically, this species differs from all the other known Sinosasa species by having very short (2–3 mm) foliage leaf inner ligules, which is unusual in this genus. A revised description of its morphology and colour photos are also provided.

3. Yushania tomentosa (Poaceae, Bambusoideae), a new combination from Guangxi

Sasa tomentosa is transferred to the genus Yushania following a reassessment based on a new collection with pachymorph and long-necked rhizomes from its type locality in Guangxi, China. Morphologically, it is most similar to Yushania doupengshanensis, but differs in culm, branch complement and foliage leaf characters. A revised description of its morphology and color photos are also provided.

5. Preparation of the alginate/carrageenan/shellac films reinforced with cellulose nanocrystals obtained from enteromorpha for food packaging

Enteromorpha prolifera belonging to the chlorophyta phylum is the main pollutant of "green tide", and propagates rapidly in recent years. However, there is almost no high-value enteromorpha treatment method at present. This study aimed to extract cellulose nanocrystals (CNC) from enteromorpha and prepare the CNC reinforced films based on alginate, carrageenan and shellac for food packaging. The effects of alginate, κ-carrageenan, cellulose nanocrystals and glycerin on the CNC reinforced alginate/carrageenan films (AC films) properties were studied systematically in this work. The results showed that the mechanical properties, swelling properties, and barrier properties of the AC could be adjusted by the concentrations of the different components. In addition, response surface methodology (RSM) was used to optimize the formula of the AC used for food packaging according to the requirements of the practical application. Furthermore, in order to further improve the food packaging capacity of the composite films, shellac was added to the optimized alginate/carrageenan films (OAC films) to obtain the shellac optimized alginate/carrageenan films (SOAC films). Finally, the OAC films and SOAC films showed excellent properties to extend the storage time of chicken breast and cherry tomatoes in the food storage experiment.

6. Stepping-stone or stumbling block: impact of the economic system on China’s OFDI

With the proposal of the One Belt, One Road initiative, China’s OFDI has grown rapidly, with institutions playing key roles. This study uses residualization and threshold regression methods to analyse the 2003–2019 panel data of 31 provinces and cities in China to study the impact of property rights protection, market operation, and financing systems on China’s foreign outward direct investment (OFDI). Overall, the results show that only the market operation system is key in promoting OFDI. Regarding regional heterogeneity, the property rights protection system has a solely positive incentive effect on OFDI in the central region. Moreover, the market operation system only plays a positive role in promoting OFDI in the eastern developed and central regions. The financing system has a threshold effect, which has significant negative and positive impacts on OFDI in the eastern and central regions, respectively. Conversely, the financing system’s impact changes from significant to insignificant in the western region before and after the threshold value. This study provides a theoretical reference for economic system reform in the process of implementing the strategy of “going out” in various regions.

8. Damage Detection of Spatial Track–Bridge System with Interlayer Connection Using High-Speed Train Response and Sensitivity Analysis

Bridge damage detection has attracted much attention recently. Most studies on damage detection of the high-speed railway (HSR) bridge neglect the effect of the interlayer connection between the railway track and bridge. This paper proposes a damage detection method for the HSR bridge using response-based sensitivity analysis of high-speed trains. The HSR bridge is modeled as a spatial track–bridge system, in which the fasteners, sleepers and track slabs are modeled as one viscoelastic layer. The responses of multiple vehicles are merged to overcome the critical issue that the length of response data recorded by a high-speed vehicle moving over the bridge is too short to perform the sensitivity analysis. Numerical studies demonstrate that the proposed method is capable to detect damages of the track–bridge system with different train speed, car-body mass, irregularity grade and the interlayer connection properties. By using the signal merging method and the averaged response from multiple train trips, the proposed method is robust to high speed and measurement noise. The damage on the bridge beam and the interlayer connection can be well-identified. It is also found that increasing the car-body mass, damping ratio of the track–bridge system, damping coefficient of interlayer connection could improve the efficiency of damage detection.

9. Globba praetermissa (Zingiberaceae), a new species of G. sect. Globba from Yunnan, China

China represents the northern distribution margin of the genus Globba, with only eight species recorded previously. However, the identity of some of the species remains problematic. Globba barthei was recorded as occurring in Guangxi, Guizhou and Yunnan provinces by some authors, although the name had been regarded as a synonym of G. marantina by others. Based on specimen examination and field study, we confirm that some of the specimens that were previously identified as G. barthei indeed belong to G. marantina, while others represent a new species, which is described here as G. praetermissa. We have confirmed that G. barthei is conspecific with G. marantina and the latter name should be adopted. Furthermore, this species is newly reported in Hainan province. Globba praetermissa, which is known from southern Yunnan Province, is most similar to G. purpurascens, a species distributed in northern Thailand and northern Laos, in having lax, pendent inflorescence, densely ciliate bracts and lateral staminodes being nearly equal in length to the lateral corolla lobes. However G. praetermissa differs by having green upper leaf sheaths, ovate or elliptic and larger laminae, ovate, pale green and larger bracts, pedicels fully enclosed by bracteoles, longer calyx, and six appendages including a smaller pair between the two larger pairs. Furthermore, no fruits of G. praetermissa were seen in herbarium specimens or in the field and according to previous studies, the species is probably triploid with 2n=48, while G. purpurascens is a diploid with 2n=36, which produce fruits. A tabulated comparison of G. praetermissa, G. marantina and G. purpurascens as well as color plates of the first two species are provided.

10. The Warburg effect modulates DHODH role in ferroptosis: a review

Ferroptosis is an iron-dependent regulated cell death that suppresses tumor growth. It is activated by extensive peroxidation of membrane phospholipids caused by oxidative stress. GPX4, an antioxidant enzyme, reduces these peroxidized membrane phospholipids thereby inhibiting ferroptosis. This enzyme has two distinct subcellular localization; the cytosol and mitochondria. Dihydroorotate dehydrogenase (DHODH) complements mitochondrial GPX4 in reducing peroxidized membrane phospholipids. It is the rate-limiting enzyme in de novo pyrimidine nucleotide biosynthesis. Its role in ferroptosis inhibition suggests that DHODH inhibitors could have two complementary mechanisms of action against tumors; inhibiting de novo pyrimidine nucleotide biosynthesis and enhancing ferroptosis. However, the link between mitochondrial function and ferroptosis, and the involvement of DHODH in the ETC suggests that its role in ferroptosis could be modulated by the Warburg effect. Therefore, we reviewed relevant literature to get an insight into the possible effect of this metabolic reprogramming on the role of DHODH in ferroptosis. Furthermore, an emerging link between DHODH and cellular GSH pool has also been highlighted. These insights could contribute to the rational design of ferroptosis-based anticancer drugs.

In this paper, we study certain determinants over finite fields. Let $\mathbb{F}_q$ be the finite field of $q$ elements and let $a_1,a_2,\cdots,a_{q-1}$ be all nonzero elements of $\mathbb{F}_q$. Let $T_q=\left[\frac{1}{a_i^2-a_ia_j+a_j^2}\right]_{1\le i,j\le q-1}$ be a matrix over $\mathbb{F}_q$. We obtain the explicit value of $\det T_q$. Also, as a consequence of our result, we confirm a conjecture posed by Zhi-Wei Sun.

15. Kengiochloa, a new bamboo genus to accommodate the morphologically unique species, Pseudosasa pubiflora (Poaceae)

Pseudosasa was confirmed as polyphyletic by recent phylogenetic analyses, with Chinese species of Pseudosasa distantly related to those from Japan. Among the Chinese species of Pseudosasa, Pseudosasa pubiflora is a morphologically unique as well as taxonomically problematic species endemic to South China, of which the generic designation is still uncertain. Molecular analyses based on both plastid and nuclear genomic data demonstrated that this species is closest to the recently published genus Sinosasa. Morphologically, the two are somewhat similar to each other in flowering branches developing at the nodes of every order of branches, raceme-like units of inflorescence with 3–5 short spikelets, each spikelet with few florets including a rudimentary one at the apex, and each floret with 3 stamens and 2 stigmas. However, P. pubiflora is very different from Sinosasa species in many reproductive and vegetative characters, such as the morphology of paracladia (lateral spikelet “pedicels”), the absence or existence of pulvinus at the base of paracladia, the relative length of the upper glume and the lowest lemma, the shape of lodicules and primary culm buds, the branch complement, the morphology of nodes, culm leaves and dried foliage leaf blades, and the number of foliage leaves per ultimate branchlet. The morphological and molecular evidence warrants recognition of a new genus to accommodate this unique species, which is here named Kengiochloa. After consulting related literature and examination of herbarium specimens or specimen photos, a taxonomic revision of K. pubiflora and its synonyms was made, and it was confirmed that four names, viz. P. gracilis, Yushania lanshanensis, Arundinaria tenuivagina and P. parilis, should be merged with K. pubiflora, while Indocalamus pallidiflorus and Acidosasa paucifolia are distinct species.

25 páginas, 6 figuras, 2 tablas, Characterization of the genetic landscape of Alzheimer's disease (AD) and related dementias (ADD) provides a unique opportunity for a better understanding of the associated pathophysiological processes. We performed a two-stage genome-wide association study totaling 111,326 clinically diagnosed/'proxy' AD cases and 677,663 controls. We found 75 risk loci, of which 42 were new at the time of analysis. Pathway enrichment analyses confirmed the involvement of amyloid/tau pathways and highlighted microglia implication. Gene prioritization in the new loci identified 31 genes that were suggestive of new genetically associated processes, including the tumor necrosis factor alpha pathway through the linear ubiquitin chain assembly complex. We also built a new genetic risk score associated with the risk of future AD/dementia or progression from mild cognitive impairment to AD/dementia. The improvement in prediction led to a 1.6- to 1.9-fold increase in AD risk from the lowest to the highest decile, in addition to effects of age and the APOE ε4 allele., This work was funded by a grant (EADB) from the EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research. 17. Flow response hysteresis of throat regulation process of a two-dimensional mixed-compression supersonic inlet

The variable geometry supersonic inlet tends to decrease the throat area to reduce the Mach number upstream of the terminal shock, so as to reduce the flow loss. However, excessive Internal Contraction Ratio (ICR) exposes the inlet to a greater risk of unstart, which inevitably results in a process of increasing the throat area to aid the inlet restart. In the above throat regulation process, the inlet undergoes the start, unstart, and restart states in turn. In order to reveal the flow structure and mechanism of this process, a two-dimensional unsteady numerical simulation combined with a dynamic mesh technique were employed. The shock-on-lip Mach number of the studied inlet is 4.0 and the flight angle of attack is + 6°. Analysis was focused on the state with a freestream Mach number of 3.0. The results clearly show that the flow response hysteresis appears, and restart is only realized when the throat area is obviously increased as compared to that of unstart due to the historical unstart flow structure. In addition, three typical flow fields were analyzed, and it is found that the separation ahead of the inlet was the key factor affecting the hysteresis. Finally, unstart and restart boundaries of the inlet were discussed, and the factors influencing its deviation from the typical boundaries of dual-solution area were analyzed. The newly predicted unstart and restart boundaries are much closer to the CFD results.

We study how a magnetic field induced by colliding nuclei influences both heavy quark (HQ) potential and HQ momentum diffusion coefficients beyond the lowest Landau level approximation. By means of real-time hard thermal loop resummed technique combined with dimension two gluon condensate, the effective gluon propagator describing both perturbative and nonperturbative QCD nature at finite temperature and magnetic field are obtained. We find that HQ momentum diffusion coefficients in magnetized QCD medium become anisotropic, and with increasing temperature, the higher Landau levels become significant, which leads to the reduction of the anisotropic ratio ($>$ 1) and even overturn the behavior ($, 22 pages, 10 figures

Sasa oblongula was described in 1987 based on a cultivated plant at the bamboo garden of Sun Yat-sen University. This species has two or three branches at the upper nodes, which differ from the rest of Sasa species that have a single branch per node. During the field trip to Baishi Town, Yunfu City, Guangdong Province in July 2021, one bamboo species with oblong foliage leaves was collected and matches the isotype. Then, our question was to test the identity of S. oblongula concerning other Sasa species based on morphology and molecular data. To do that, we sequenced the whole chloroplast genome of S. oblongula and did a phylogenetic analysis. Our morphological results indicate that the new collection is S. oblongula. The phylogenetic tree showed that S. oblongula is close to Pseudosasa, instead of Sasa species. Therefore, we transferred it to the genus Pseudosasa, and a revised description of P. oblongula is provided here.

Objective To explore the correlation of pretreatment EBV DNA load, EBV EA-IgA and VCA-IgA antibodies levels with the clinical characteristics, curative effect and prognosis of the patients with early-stage extranodal nasal-type NK/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTCL). Methods We analyzed the clinical features and prognostic factors of 78 ENKTCL patients. Results Positive rates of pretreatment EBV DNA, VCA-IgA and EA-IgA were 43.6%, 20.5% and 14.1%, respectively. EBV DNA was significantly associated with Ann Arbor stage, primary site, PTI and non-CR (all P < 0.05). VCA-IgA and EA-IgA were related to positive EBV DNA and non-CR (all P < 0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that age, EBV DNA and non-CR were independent prognostic factors for OS (all P < 0.05); age, EBV DNA, primary site and non-CR were independent prognostic factors for PFS (all P < 0.05). Conclusion The pretreatment positive EBV DNA is related to advanced Ann Arbor stage, PTI, primary extra-nasal subtypes of upper aerodigestive tract and poor response to treatment. The elevated levels of EA-IgA and VCA-IgA are related to positive EBV DNA and poor response to treatment. Pretreatment EBV DNA could be used for risk stratification and prognosis prediction of ENKTCL, while EA-IgA and VCA-IgA play limited role in guiding the prognosis of ENKTCL.

24. Clinical significance of diagnosis and classification of ratio of hsa a_circ_0001708 to IKZF1 for pediatric B-ALI

Objective To investigate the clinical significance of the ratio of hsa_circ_0001708 to IKZF1 in bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMNC) in pediatric B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). Methods T-A clone was used to construct the recombinant plasmid containing the back-spliced junction of hsa_circ_0001708, regarding the gradient diluted recombinant plasmid as standard substance to establish the absolute fluorescence quantitative PCR (qPCR) for the detection of hsa_circ_0001708. Bone marrow samples from 159 newly diagnosed pediatric B-ALL patients and 17 patients with non-malignant hemotologic diseases in their matched control group admitted in the Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from January 2016 to January 2019. The copy number of hsa_circ_0001708 and IKZF1 in BMNC of B-ALL children were determined by absolute fluorescence qPCR. The patients were divided into different groups according to their age, gender, peripheral blood leukocyte count, molecular biology, genetics, immune classification, and whether relapse and survive during the follow-up period. The ratio of hsa_circ_0001708 to IKZF1 in different groups and the correlation with these clinical characteristics were analyzed retrospectively. Results The absolute RT-qPCR was established that can accurately quantify the copy number of hsa_circ_0001708. The ratio of hsa_circ_0001708 to IKZF1 was significantly increased in pediatric B-ALL (P < 0.01) when compared with the controls, and the area under the ROC curve (AUC) was 0.793 6. The correlation analysis indicated that the ratio was significant increased in these groups of high leukocyte count, high blast cell count of peripheral blood, pre-B and poor prognosis in cytogenetics (P < 0.05). Conclusion The ratio of hsa_circ_0001708 to IKZF1 has potential diagnostic value and is related to the MIC classification for pediatric B-ALL.

25. Effect of the International Tourism Island Policy on Hainan Farmers’ Income and the Urban–Rural Income Gap: An Analysis Based on the GPCA and SCM Models

The construction of Hainan International Tourism Island, one of the national strategies in China, implemented in January 2010. A common concern is whether the policy has managed to raise farmers’ income and reduce the income gap between urban and rural residents. Therefore, this study aims to make counterfactual causal inferences based on data from 2005 to 2018 on Hainan Province. This study applies both the generalized principal component analysis method and the synthetic control method. According to the model results, the policy did not increase farmers’ income in Hainan or narrow the income gap between urban and rural areas in the first five years. However, after 2014, the result reversed. The increasing farmers’ income and narrowing gap indicate that the tourism-related Kuznets curve hypothesis is valid for the policy. The results of a placebo test verify the robustness of this conclusion.

Wearable gas sensors can improve early warning provision for workers in special worksites and can also be used as flexible electronic platforms. Here, the flexible multifunctional gas sensor was prepared by grafting graphene oxide (GO)-Ag onto cotton fabric after swelling. The maximum bacterial inhibition rate of GO-150/cotton fabric was 95.6% for E. coli and 87.6% for S. aureus, while retaining the original high moisture permeability of cotton fabric. So GO/cotton fabric can resist the multiplication of bacteria. At the same time, GO can greatly improve the UV protection performance of cotton fabric used in garments. With increase of the GO concentration, the UV protection ability of composite fabric is enhanced. Finally, GO-Ag/cotton fabric sensors had stable NH3 gas-sensitive properties and good washing stability. In conclusion, these cotton fabric sensors with antibacterial properties, UV resistance and highly sensitive gas-sensitive properties have potential applications in wearable early warning devices and textile products.

Silicon-derived biomaterials are conducive to regulating the fate of osteo-related stem cells, while their effects on the osteogenic differentiation of human adipose-derived stem cells (hADSCs) remain inconclusive. Mesoporous silica (mSiO2) is synthesized in a facile route that exhibited the capability of promoting osteogenic differentiation of hADSCs. The metabolism of SiO2 in cells is proposed according to the colocalization fluorescence analysis between lysosomes and nanoparticles. The released silicon elements promote osteogenic differentiation. The detection of secretory proteins through numerous parallel experiments performed via a microfluidic chip confirms the positive effect of SiO2 on the osteogenic differentiation of hADSCs. Moreover, constructed with superparamagnetic iron oxide (Fe3O4), the magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) of Fe3O4@mSiO2 endow the cells with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) properties. The MNP-regulated osteogenic differentiation of autologous adipose-derived stem cells provides considerable clinical application prospects for stem cell therapy of bone tissue repair with an effective reduction in immune rejection.

29. Complex Suspended Janus Droplets Constructed through Solvent Evaporation-Induced Phase Separation at the Air-Liquid Interface

Phase separation technology has attracted extensive scientific interest because of its intriguing structure changes during the phase separation process. Phase separation inside emulsion droplets in continuous surroundings has been well studied in recent years. Many investigations have also been conducted to study the droplet phase separation phenomena in noncontinuous surroundings. However, studies on the phase separation phenomena and the spreading behavior of suspended droplets at the air-liquid interface were rarely reported. In this study, PEGDA-glycerol suspended Janus droplets with a patchy structure were produced by utilizing solvent evaporation-induced droplet phase separation at the air-liquid interface. By altering the glycerol/PEGDA volume ratio, the initial proportion of ethanol, and the concentration of surfactants, suspended droplets with different morphologies can be achieved, which include filbert-shaped droplets (FSDs), half lotus seedpod single-phase Janus droplets (HLSDs), lotus seedpod single-phase Janus droplets (LSDs), lotus seedpod-shaped droplets (LSSDs), multiple-bulge droplets (MBDs), and half gourd-shaped droplets (HGSDs). A patchy structure was generated at the air-droplet interface, which was attributed to the Marangoni stresses induced by nonuniform evaporation. Furthermore, a modified spreading coefficient theory was constructed and verified to illustrate the phase separation at the air-droplet interface, which was the first research to predict the phase separation phenomena at the air-liquid interface via spreading coefficients theory. Moreover, we studied the factors that led to the droplets being able to float by designing the combined parameters, including three interfacial tensions and the equilibrium contact angles. In 2013, Farhi conjectured that for each $m\geq 3$, every natural number $n$ can be represented as $\lfloor x^2/m\rfloor+\lfloor y^2/m\rfloor+\lfloor z^2/m\rfloor$ with $x,y,z\in\Z$, where $\lfloor\cdot\rfloor$ denotes the floor function. Moreover, in 2015, Sun conjectured that every natural number $n$ can be written as $\lfloor x^2/a\rfloor+\lfloor y^2/b\rfloor+\lfloor z^2/c\rfloor$ with $x,y,z\in\Z$, where $a,b,c$ are integers and $(a,b,c)\neq (1,1,1),(2,2,2)$. In this paper, with the help of congruence theta functions, we prove that for each $m\geq 3$, Farhi's conjecture is true for every sufficiently large integer $n$. And for $a,b,c\geq 5$ with $a,b,c$ are pairwisely co-prime, we also confirm Sun's conjecture for every sufficiently large integer $n$.

Yushania doupengshanensis Y.Y. Zhang et N.H. Xia, a new species of the temperate woody bamboo tribe Arundinarieae (Poaceae: Bambusoideae), is described and illustrated from south Guizhou, China. Yushania doupengshanensis is characterised by long-necked rhizomes, usually a single branch at each branching node, densely white puberulous and thin white powdery internodes, tardily deciduous culm sheaths, densely ciliate culm-sheath margins, 6‒12 leaves per ultimate branch, densely puberulous and 8‒9 mm long pseudopetioles. Based on the morphological features, this new species is assigned to section Yushania.

ObjectiveTo determine whether microRNAs (miRs) are elevated in the plasma of individuals with the inherited peripheral neuropathy Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 1A (CMT1A), miR profiling was employed to compare control and CMT1A plasma.MethodsWe performed a screen of CMT1A and control plasma samples to identify miRs that are elevated in CMT1A using next-generation sequencing, followed by validation of selected miRs by quantitative PCR, and correlation with protein biomarkers and clinical data: Rasch-modified CMT Examination and Neuropathy Scores, ulnar compound muscle action potentials, and motor nerve conduction velocities.ResultsAfter an initial pilot screen, a broader screen confirmed elevated levels of several muscle-associated miRNAs (miR1, -133a, -133b, and -206, known as myomiRs) along with a set of miRs that are highly expressed in Schwann cells of peripheral nerve. Comparison to other candidate biomarkers for CMT1A (e.g., neurofilament light) measured on the same sample set shows a comparable elevation of several miRs (e.g., miR133a, -206, -223) and ability to discriminate cases from controls. Neurofilament light levels were most highly correlated with miR133a. In addition, the putative Schwann cell miRs (e.g., miR223, -199a, -328, -409, -431) correlate with the recently described transmembrane protease serine 5 (TMPRSS5) protein biomarker that is most highly expressed in Schwann cells and also elevated in CMT1A plasma.ConclusionsThese studies identify a set of miRs that are candidate biomarkers for clinical trials in CMT1A. Some of the miRs may reflect Schwann cell processes that underlie the pathogenesis of the disease.Classification of EvidenceThis study provides Class III evidence that a set of plasma miRs are elevated in patients with CMT1A.

Flowering material of Ferrocalamus rimosivaginus has been identified, allowing its analysis and description. The unit of inflorescence of the synflorescences of F. rimosivaginus is panicle-like and its fruit is berry-like. Ferrocalamus rimosivaginus differs from F. strictus in its rachilla puberulent except on its adaxial surface, the first glume with a glabrous apex, the abaxially glabrous lemma with an acute mucronate apex, and the palea with the surfaces between keels apically pubescent and progressively less pubescent towards the glabrous base. An epitype is designated to support the sterile holotype.

36. A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of the Prevalence and Risk Factors of Depression in Type 2 Diabetes Patients in China

BackgroundThe prevalence of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is increasing in China. Depression in patients with T2DM interferes with blood glucose management, leads to poor treatment outcomes, and has a high risk of dementia and cardiovascular event. We conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to evaluate the prevalence of depression in patients with T2DM in China and explore potential risk factors associated with depression in T2DM.MethodsWe conducted a literature search in MEDLINE/PubMed, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, the Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM), the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), the Chinese Science and Technology Periodical Database (VIP), and the Wanfang Database from their inception to February 25, 2022 to include population-based, cross-sectional surveys that investigated the prevalence of depression in Chinese T2DM patients and studied possible risk factors. Gray literature and reference lists were also manually searched. We used the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality methodology checklist to assess the risk of bias in the included studies. Two reviewers screened studies, extracted data, and evaluated the risk of bias independently. The primary outcome was the pooled prevalence of depression in Chinese T2DM patients, and the secondary outcomes included potential risk factors for depression in T2DM patients. R (version 3.6.1) and Stata (version 12.0) software were used for data synthesis.ResultsWe included 48 reports that identified 108,678 subjects. Among the included reports, 4 were rated as low risk of bias, 40 moderate risks of bias, and 4 high risks of bias. The prevalence of depression in T2DM patients in China was 25.9% (95% CI 20.6%−31.6%). The prevalence of depression was higher in women (OR = 1.36, 95% CI 1.19–1.54), subjects ≥60 years (OR = 1.56, 95% CI 1.14–2.14), with a primary school or lower education (vs. middle or high school education (OR = 1.49, 95% CI 1.16 – 1.92); vs. college degree or higher education (OR = 1.84, 95% CI 1.16 – 2.92), with a duration of T2DM ≥ 10 years (OR = 1.68, 95% CI 1.11–2.54), with complications (OR = 1.90, 95% CI 1.53–2.36), insulin users (OR = 1.46, 95% CI 1.09–1.96) and individuals living alone (OR = 2.26, 95% CI 1.71–2.98). T2DM patients with current alcohol use had a lower prevalence of depression (OR = 0.70, 95% CI 0.58–0.86). Prevalence varied from 0.8 to 52.6% according to different instruments used to detect depression.ConclusionThe prevalence of depression in T2DM patients is remarkable in China. Potential risk factors of depression in T2DM patients included women, age ≥ 60 years, low educational level, complications, duration of diabetes ≥ 10 years, insulin use, and living alone. This study elucidates the taxonomic position of Indosasa sangzhiensis in considering whether it belongs to Indosasa or Chimonobambusa. Based on morphological and molecular phylogenetic evidence, our results explicitly indicated that I. sangzhiensis should be a member of Chimonobambusa, rather than Indosasa, and is a distinct species closely related to C. communis, C. opienensis and C. puberula. Thus, the new combination Chimonobambusa sangzhiensis (B.M.Yang) N.H.Xia & Z.Y.Niu is made. A detailed description as well as two color plates of this species are also provided.

The submerged inlet is an attractive configuration for advanced helicopters due to its high stealth performance and low external drag. In this paper, a submerged inlet, integrated with a ROBIN helicopter fuselage and a simplified power output shaft, is experimentally and numerically investigated to obtain the basic flow characteristics under a freestream velocity of 23.6 m/s. The results indicate that the pylon ahead of the inlet induces a horseshoe vortex. Though the vortex is ingested into the inlet, it has little effect on the internal flows and can be neglected. When the airflow enters into the inlet, it interacts with the shaft with a large incidence angle, yielding a vortex pair. At the leeside of the shaft, the two side flows of the shaft impinge at the center plane, generating a local high-pressure region at the azimuthal angle of 180°, which forces the boundary layer to roll up a counter-rotating vortex pair. In addition, the airflow adjacent to the cowl lip accelerates rapidly, resulting in a local low-pressure region at the azimuthal angle of 0°. Therefore, the inlet duct has a strong circumferential pressure gradient, which originates from an azimuthal angle of 180° to 0° and induces a vortex pair at the azimuthal angle of 0°. The three vortex pairs are the main origins of the distortion at the duct exit plane, among which the one near the cowl lip with the azimuthal angle of 0° plays the dominant role. Additionally, as the velocity ratio increases from 3.9 to 5.5, the circumferential pressure gradient and the cowl lip vortex get intensified, which causes that the total-pressure recovery coefficient drops by 0.5% and the distortion index increases by 28%. Identifying a bamboo taxon from the Asian seasonal tropics is notoriously difficult, if not impossible, especially when the type material is lacking vegetative parts. This is due to the fact that old type material associated with the naming of bamboos often consists of only flowering branches and perhaps just a few leaves, and, as bamboos in the field are vegetative for prolonged periods prior to flowering, they are therefore not easily identifiable much of the time. Investigating one such bamboo, Neohouzeaua mekongensis, we show that previous flowering collections made during the seasonal dry (flowering) season could not have easily included key vegetative parts, such as the culm sheaths, which would have assisted in their recognition at other times. We trace this species back to its type localities and propose an epitype in order that its vegetative characteristics are made available to complement the floral characteristics of the original material.

Among the tropical woody bamboos, the Melocanninae is one of the most clearly recognized subtribes morphologically and has also been consistently well delimited in molecular phylogenetic work. The relationships among those genera in this subtribe, however, have been contentious because of poorly understood generic delimitations, in part due to poor specimen material or insufficiently assessed morphological traits, sometimes exacerbated by poorly accessible provenances. We address the phylogenetic and taxonomic status of two groups which together include the largest number of species in this subtribe: the Neohouzeaua-Schizostachyum complex, distributed from India to South China, Southeast Asia and southwest Pacific, and the endemic Indian genus Ochlandra. Three Neohouzeaua species (including the generic type), 12 Schizostachyum species (including the generic type and several species of uncertain placement), together with five species of Ochlandra and representatives of Cephalostachyum, Melocanna and Pseudostachyum were assessed in a molecular phylogenetic analysis together with members of other well-distinguished subtribes. Members of Neohouzeaua and Schizostachyum align into two main groups that were not completely well-supported statistically but which members possess mostly reflexed culm leaf blades, or mostly erect culm leaf blades. Other characters which provide obvious differences between taxa, such as the number of flowers in a pseudospikelet, fusion of filaments into a staminal tube, and presence of lodicules, were inconsistent between these groups. Neohouzeaua and Schizostachyum cannot be clearly distinguished in either morphological or molecular terms, and thus are united under the latter name, which takes precedence. In reviewing names in Neohouzeaua and their basionyms, several lectotypifications are designated. Three new combinations in Schizostachyum are proposed. On the other hand, Ochlandra forms a distinct clade and its monophyly is demonstrated, supported by clear morphological characters.

Fargesia sapaensis N.H.Xia & Y.Y.Zhang, a new species from Lao Cai, Vietnam, is described and illustrated. The new species is similar to F. dracocephala T.P.Yi and F. fansipanensis T.Q.Nguyen, but differs from the former mainly in its mid-culm complement of 3–7 branches at each node, auricles of culm sheaths absent, 2‒6 florets per spikelet, 7‒10 mm long first glume and 2‒3 mm long lodicules, and from the latter by its culm sheaths shorter than culm internodes, 3–4 leaves per ultimate branch, and a mid-culm complement of 3–7 branches at each node.

A glacier inventory contains data that are important for understanding the hydrology, water resources, and impacts of climate change in glaciated regions. Ten glacier inventories have been created for the Third Pole Region (TPR) or high-mountain Asia, but they vary largely in spatial coverage area and data quality. Therefore, it is necessary to assess the data quality to help potential users choose the right glacier inventories for their research. Using the analytical hierarchy process, this study selects eight assessment factors and quantifies the quality of eight glacier inventories of the TPR. The eight glacier inventories that we assessed are the Randolph Glacier Inventory (RGI), the Glacier Area Mapping for Discharge in Asian Mountains (GGI18), the Second Chinese Glacier Inventory (CGI-2), the Glacier Inventory of the Hindu Kush–Himalayan Region (HKHGI), the Glacier Inventory for the Western Himalayas (WHGI), the Glacier Inventory for the Karakoram and Pamir Region (KPGI), the Second Glacier Inventory of Pakistan (PGI-2) and the Glacier Inventory for the Southeastern Tibetan Plateau (SETPGI). The assessment results indicate that the overall quality of the small-scale glacier inventories of WHGI, KPGI, PGI-2, and SETPGI is higher than that of the large-scale inventories of RGI, GGI18, CGI-2, and HKHGI. For the large-scale inventories, the quality-ranking order from high to low is CGI-2, GGI18, RGI, and HKHGI. However, the comprehensive quality of CGI-2 and GGI18 is comparable over the area covered by CGI-2. The comprehensive quality of CGI-2, GGI18, and RGI exhibits clear spatial differences. Overall, the data quality is higher for the inner TPR than for the surrounding areas. By merging the products of the eight glacier inventories, a new glacier inventory product of the best comprehensive quality was derived for the entire TPR. This new product resembles the spatial distribution of the best-quality glacier inventories of the regions where the different products overlap. In terms of specific regions, the CGI-2 and GGI18 are the best products for most parts of the TPR in China, except for an area of southeastern Tibet where the highest-quality data are from the SETPGI. The other main distributions of the best products are the WHGI for the western Himalayas, the GGI18 and HKHGI for the Hindu Kush and the middle and eastern Himalayas, the PGI-2 for Pakistan, the KPGI for the Karakorum–Pamir area, and the GGI18 and CGI-2 for the Tianshan Mountains. The new data product greatly promotes the quality of a single glacier inventory for the entire TPR. This database will meet the needs of a variety of potential researchers, including those who prefer to get information for a particular parameter from a single glacier inventory (http://data.tpdc.ac.cn/en/data).

AIM: To analyze the correlation between macular morphology and function in eyes with diabetic macular edema (DME). METHODS: Fifty-five eyes with different visual acuity (VA) of 32 patients who suffered from DME were analyzed using multifocal electroretinography (mfERG) and optical coherence tomography (OCT). The parameters of mfERG including implicit times and response amplitude were compared to those of 50 normal eyes of 36 age-matched subjects. Correlation analysis was performed between VA, the parameters of mfERG including implicit times and response amplitude, and the central macular thickness (CMT). RESULTS: The amplitude of N1 and P1 were significantly decreased and their latency were significantly increased in five ring regions of the retina in patients with DME. There was statistically significant correlation between logMAR BCVA and P1 amplitude densities in rings 1-4 (r=-0.306, -0.536, -0.470, -0.362; P=0.023, 0.05) in the central macular ring. Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that P1 amplitude density in ring 2 was the only contributor to the VA. CONCLUSION: It seems to be more appropriate of combining use of mfERG with OCT for the evaluation of macular function in eyes with DME.

A new species of the family Magnoliaceae, Magnolia quangninhensis Q.N. Vu & N.H. Xia from Yen Tu National Forest, in the Quang Ninh Province, north of Vietnam is described and illustrated. It is most closely related to M. bawangensis and M. shangsiensis, but differs by having all parts of tree glabrous (except for dense brown sericeous tomentose to tomentulose brachyblasts), larger elliptic-obovate leaves, creamy-white to pink–purple tepals and stamens, and (6–)9–11 tepals.
