Dimensionless and criterial complexes are successfully used in many technical fields. They play an important role in research and design. There are a large number of dimensionless and criterial complexes, which have their advantages and are chosen depending on the topic and specific objectives of the study. The article considers dimensionless and criterial complexes most often used in studies of turbomachines, in particular vortex expansion machines - relative internal (isoentropic) efficiency, degree of pressure drop, adjusted wheel speed, speed coefficient, adjusted diameter, flow factor and coefficient. The authors processed the data of the experimental study of the turbogenerator with a peripheral-side channel and presented them in the form of graphical dependences using these complexes. The improvement of these energy-saving turbogenerators is important because they are used to generate electricity from excess gas pressure, are considered environmentally friendly and are needed for the development of distributed energy. Vortex expansion machines with a peripheral-lateral channel are also poorly understood, so the topic is relevant. In this study, their area of use was determined and reflected in the ns - Ds diagram among radial and other vortex expansion turbomachines to facilitate their comparison and design.

The article is based on practical requirements from the reason of unequally removed material during the turning of the wood plastic composite (WPC). This results in geometrical deviations of the WPC bar diameter. WPC represents a relatively new group of materials that has been at the market for almost 30 years. In 1983 Lear Corporation in Wisconsine, USA made for the first time the interior panels of cars from composite materials – PP matrix with organic filler – 50 % wood flour. WPCs displace traditional materials such as wood, steel and cement materials in the marina industry. Designers are not limited technology of production from construction aspect, because different shapes and profiles can be produced by injection (resp. process of extrusion), but in the process of machining were monitored problems with tolerances. Mixed colors can be achieved by using of different pigments and one feels that this is real wood. Technologists begin to use convention technologies – drilling, milling and turning, as tendency of application of WPC increased. Knowledges about machining of WPC are not elaborate as deep as machining of metals or plastics. And this is a reason for orientation in this direction too. Commercial wood plastic composite MEGAWOOD (70 % wood flour, 30 % HDPE) was a sample material in current investigation of roundness after turning of WPC. HSS EN ISO HS6-5-2 cutting tool was used. The geometry of the cutting tool was γ0 = 20°, α0 = 8°, κr = 45°, rε = 0,5 mm, εr = 90°. Cutting conditions during turning were as follows: cutting speed n = 900 m/min (constant), feed f = 0,1 to 0,61 mm), depth of cut ap = 0,5 mm for turning of final diameter d = 36 mm. It was dry turning. Roundness/ cylindricity measuring system RA – 120 was used for measuring of roundness deviation. It was found that the roundness deviation increases with feed increasing. Popped heat was not used during the turning to final diameter – 36 mm. Using of popped heat results in decreasing of roundness deviation. Waviness was not possible to measure within the range of ±1 000 μm on the sample No. 4 (f = 0,41 mm) and sample No. 5 (f = 0,6 mm). Tip of the measuring systems could not filtrate parameter of roughness (surface after turning – low value of tool nose radius rε = 0,5 mm and high feed caused distinctive toolmark). Inaccuracy of macrogeometry (including roundness) could have caused state of machine, tool and fixture too. Древесно-пластиковый композит представляют собой относительно новую группу материалов, появившихся на рынке в течение последних 30 лет. В 1983 году компания Lear Corporation в штате Висконсин, США, впервые изготовила внутренние панели автомобилей из композитных материалов – PP-матрицы с органическим наполнителем – 50 % древесной муки. Древесно-пластиковые композиты вытесняют традиционные материалы, такие как дерево, сталь и цементные материалы в морской промышленности. Проектировщики не ограничиваются технологией производства из строительного аспекта, так как различные формы и профили могут быть изготовлены методом инжекции (процесс экструзии), но в процессе обработки контролировались проблемы с допусками. Знания о древесно-пластиковых композитах не так фундаментальны, как знания о процессе резания металлов (или пластмасс). И это определяет актуальность направления исследования. Для исследования круглости после обработки древесно-пластиковых композитов использовался коммерческий материал MEGAWOOD (70 % древесной муки, 30 % HDPE). В процессе резания ис- пользовали инструмент из быстрорежущей стали: EN ISO HS6-5-2, геометрия режущего инструмента: γ0 = 20°, α0 = 8°, κr = 45°, rε = 0,5 мм, εr = 90°. Условия резания при точении: скорость вращения n = 900 м/мин (постоянная), подача f = 0,1 до 0,61 мм), глубина резания ар = 0,5 мм (для точения до диаметра d = 36 мм). Режущий среда – без охлаждения. Roundness/Cylindricity Measuring System RA-120 использовали для измерения отклонения от круглости. Отклонение от круглости возрастает с увеличением подачи. Волнистость не удалось измерить в диапазоне ±1 000 мкм на образце № 4 (f = 0,41 мм) и образце № 5 (f = 0,6 мм). Измерительная система не может идентифицировать пара- метр шероховатости (поверхность после обработки точением – низкое значение радиуса режущей кромки резца rε = 0,5 мм и высокая подача вызвали отличительные следы резца на обрабатываемой поверхности). Неточность макрогеометрии (включая круглость) могли вызвать состояния станка, режущего инструмента и приспособления. Стаття ґрунтується на практичних вимогах щодо неоднаково видаленого матеріалу в процесі механічного оброблення деревно-пластикового композита, в результаті цього одержали геометричні відхилення діаметра. Деревно-пластиковий композит являє собою відносно нову групу матеріалів, що з’явилися на ринку за останні 30 років. У процесі різання застосовували інструмент із швидкорізальної сталі: EN ISO HS6-5-2, геометрія різального інструменту: γ0 = 20°, α0 = 8°, κr = 45°, rε = 0,5 мм, εr = 90°. Умови різання при точінні: швидкість різання n = 900 м/хв (постійна), подача f = 0,1 до 0,61 мм, глибина різання ар = 0,5 мм (для точіння до діаметра d = 36 мм). Різання без охолодження. Roundness/Cylindricity Measuring System RA-120 використовували для вимірювання відхилення від круглості. Відхилення від круглості збільшується зі збільшенням подачі. Хвилястість не вдалося виміряти у діапазоні ±1 000 мкм на зразку № 4 (f = 0,41 мм) та зразку № 5 (f = 0,6 мм). Вимірювальна система не може ідентифікувати параметр шорсткості (поверхня після оброблення точінням – низьке значення радіуса різальної кромки різця rε = 0,5 мм і висока подача викликали істотні сліди різця на оброблюваній поверхні). Неточність мікрогеометрії (включаючи круглість) могло спричинити стани верстата, різального інструмента та верстатних пристроїв.

Найбільш поширені проблеми механічної обробки пакетів вуглепластик / метал є розшаровування, витягування волокно, термічної деструкції та інтенсивного зношування інструменту. В останнє десятиліття у фокусі досліджень при свердлінні пакетів перебували такі параметри процесу різання як осьова сила і крутний момент. Разом з тим, температура різання в процесі свердління пакетів та її вплив на зношування свердла досліджені в недостатній мірі. Метою даного дослідження було вивчення впливу температури різання на стійкість твердосплавного інструменту. Температура вимірювалася методом штучної термопари K типу, яка розміщувалася по задній поверхні свердла. У ході експерименту осьова сила вимірювалася за допомогою динамометра. Дані про температури різання і осьової силі була оцифровані аналого - цифровим перетворювачем (АЦП) LTR212, LTR 11 і візуалізували на персональному комп'ютері (ПК).Зношування інструменту оцінювався за критерієм фаски зносу по задній поверхні на оптичному мікроскопі МБС-9. Було встановлено вплив температури різання на зношування твердосплавного свердла при свердлінні пакету вуглепластик /сталь. Найбільш несприятливою комбінацією матеріалів пакета є поєднання вуглепластик / сталь. В статье представлены исследования износа инструмента, в процессе сверления пакетов углепластик / сталь. Наиболее неблагоприятной комбинацией материалов пакета является сочетание углепластик/сталь. This paper presents tool wear study based on the drilling experiment of CFRP/ steel stack. The most common problems of CFRP/metal stacks machining are CFRP delamination, fiber pull – out, thermal degradation and intensive tool wear. Last decade such parameters of CFRP/metal stacks drilling as axial force and torque are in the focus of researches. However, the cutting temperature in the drilling process of CFRP/metal stack and its influence on drill bit wear is still not fully gained at the present time. The purpose of current study is to investigate the effect of cutting temperature on the tool life of carbide drill. The temperature was measured with K type thermocouple which was embedded on the flank surface of the drill. Axial force was measured with dynamometer.Data of cutting temperature and axial force was digitalized with analog – digital converter (ACD) and visualized on personal computer (PC). The dominating tool wear mode when drilling CFRP/steel ‐ was flank wear which was measured with optical microscope. The experimental study of cutting temperature effect on the tool wear of carbide drill was established. Найбільш поширені проблеми механічної обробки пакетів вуглепластик / метал є розшаровування, витягування волокно, термічної деструкції та інтенсивного зношування інструменту. В останнє десятиліття у фокусі досліджень при свердлінні пакетів перебували такі параметри процесу різання як осьова сила і крутний момент. The importance of capabilities and resources for portfolio management and business strategy has been recognized in the management literature and on a recent proposal to extend ArchiMate, which includes these concepts in order to improve ArchiMate’s coverage of portfolio management. This paper presents an ontological analysis of the concepts introduced in that proposal, focusing in particular on the resource, capability and competence concepts. As a result, it proposes well-founded recommendations for improvements, enhancing its suitability and integration possibilities.

In existing business model frameworks little attention is paid to a thorough understanding of the perceived customer value of a business’ offering as compared to competing offers. In this paper, we propose to use utility theory in combination with e3value models to address this issue. An actor's joint utility function specifies how much value the actor attaches to a given product or service's different qualities. Competing value offerings map to different points on the customer utility function, since they provide certain quantities of each quality. Since the customer can be expected to exhibit a utility maximizing behavior, his/her choices between offerings can be predicted. Thus, given the proposed utility extension, it becomes possible to quantitatively reason about the relative customer value of an offering compared to those of the competition. This, in turn, allows the optimization of price, the key ingredient in any business model.

In this paper, we analyze the current state of museum guide technologies and applications in order to develop an analytical foundation for our future research in an adaptive museum guide for families. We have focused our analysis on three critical areas of interest in considering group and social interaction in museums: tangibility, the role of tangible user interfaces; interaction, visit types and visit flows; adaptivity, user modeling approaches.

This paper describes the preliminary research of an ambient intelligent system known as socioec(h)o. socio-ec(h)o explores the design and implementation of an ambient intelligent system for sensing and display, user modeling, and interaction models based on game structures. Our interaction model is based on a game structure including levels, body states, goals and game skills. Body states are the body movements and positions that players must discover in order to complete a level and in turn represent a learned game skill. The paper provides an overview of background concepts and related research. We describe the game structure and prototype of our environment. We discuss games research concepts we utilized and our approach to group user models based on Richard Bartle’s game types. We explain the role of embodied cognition within our design and elaborate on what we chose to encode as embodied actions, cognition and communication. We describe how we utilized selective responses that were real-time, gradient, provided rewards and were unique to different group user models. We introduce our approach to designing ambient intelligent systems that is ecologically inspired. We stress the empirical nature of the design work and the role of participatory design in developing our system.

On experimental haematogenous E. coli pyelonephritis in rabbits produced by temporary ligature of the ureter the effect of chlortetracycline (CTC) and oxytetracycline (OTC) was compared. When the treatment was initiated “early” (i.e. on the day when the microorganisms were injected), the development of the inflammatory process could be prevented in 85%; no marked differences were found between the effect of CTC and OTC. When “delayed” treatment was applied (i.e. two days after injection of the microorganisms) no marked inflammatory changes developed in the kidneys of 22% of the CTC-treated rabbits and in 32% of the OTC-treated rabbits; after OTC therapy the renal tissue was always sterile, after CTC therapy positive bacteriological findings persisted in 37,5%.

Introduction: So far an adequate model for testing the effectiveness of drugs in infections of the urinary tract in-vivo has not been available. The present study was therefore undertaken with the aim of using experimental cystitis to develop a model of chronic bacteriuria by the use of Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas, to determine, by comparative histology, whether morphological differences do exist between the two types of infection, and to see whether the infections remain restricted to the urinary bladder in both cases. Material and Methods: Female albino rats weighing 200–250 g were used for the time serial tests. The anterior bladder wall was injured by puncture incision and suturing. A serotype O 4 : H 5 strain of Escherichia coli, and a strain of Pseudomonas pyocyanea cultured from the urine of patients were used for the infections. The number of germs/ml in the applied suspension was 1 × 10 9 in the case of Escherichia coli, and 7 × 10 8 in the case of Pseudomonas. The number of germs was determined microscopically, and the concentration of germs controlled by subsequent incubation and counting. Therapy was attempted with Carbenicillin and Gentamycin, and the results were compared with the bacteriological findings in untreated rats. Histological examination was performed on paraffin sections of formalin-fixed material subjected to H & E, PAS and van Gieson staining. Results and Discussion: Bacteriuria was produced by direct injection of Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas pyoceanea into the urinary bladder following bladder injury by puncture incision. Although diffuse chronic experimental cystitis could not be produced in either model, there was protracted significant bacteriuria, as shown by histological and bacteriological examination of the bladder and kidneys and bacteriological urinalysis. Acute suppurative inflammation following infection with Escherichia coli was localized in the injured portions of the anterior bladder wall where it was demonstrable for one to two weeks. Bacterioscopically the colonies of Escherichia coli were restricted to the injured mucosal portions of the anterior bladder wall, whereas Pseudomonas was found on the entire mucosa, regardless of previous injury. To produce diffuse suppurative inflammation Escherichia coli requires a previously injured mucosa as a point of entry. Pseudomonas, however, provides its point of entry into the submucosa by its exotoxin effect, thus creating the condition required for the occurrence of diffuse cystitis. In one third of the investigated animals renal affection was present in the form of pyelitis and ascending pyelonephritis, occurring within the first two weeks after infection with Escherichia coli, and from the second to sixth week after infection with Pseudomonas. The described model of bacteriuria has proved to be a suitable method for testing the effectiveness of antibiotics in infections of the urinary tract and bladder.

The rates of total and extrarenal elimination of amikacin, cefoperazone, ceftriaxone, gentamicin, mesocain, theophylline, tobramycin, and polyfructosane-S were determined in rats with intact kidneys and in those after bilateral nephrectomy. While the values of the elimination constants of the tested drugs were markedly higher in the rats than in man, the ratio of nonrenal and total elimination constants, expressing the fraction of drugs eliminated extrarenally, is close to the value found in man. These findings suggest that the model might be useful in preclinical drug testing and can help in the prediction of changes in the kinetics of drugs caused by renal failure.

Ten days after four-fifths nephrectomy in rats (four-fifths of the renal parenchyma removed), the total and renal elimination constants of tobramycin were lowered by one-half. The biological half-life of tobramycin doubled. These results suggest that soon after nephrectomy the residual nephrons are able to increase the rate of excretion of tobramycin. The increase in mass of the remaining renal tissue between day 10 and day 80 after nephrectomy had no effect on the biological half-life, on the total and renal elimination constants, and on the renal clearance of tobramycin. During endotoxin shock and burn shock, concentrations of tobramycin in serum decreased at a slower rate. The highest serum concentrations of tobramycin were observed in rats with shock due to burns.

A model of acute ascending purulent pyelonephritis was produced in rabbits by injection of an E. coli suspension into the urinary bladder with subsequent squeezing of the bladder wall. An important factor influencing the penetration of bacteria from the bladder into the renal pelvis was a sufficient volume of the bacterial suspension. Penetration of bacteria into the renal parenchyma and their multiplication in the renal tissue was rendered possible by temporary ligature of the ureter prior to the injection of bacterial suspension.

‘Human’ is the most important element in the working system: human - machine - environment. It is necessary to ensure the good health condition of workers for continuous production processes. This article is focused on the possibilities of inadequate physical load reduction by partial ergonomic rationalization of working environment - warehouse of building materials. This problem is analysed by using the Key Indicator Method (KIM). This method immediately determines the affecting physical load. Constituent optimization models of the working environment are suggested for reduction by software. The presented method of inadequate physical load reduction is applicable not only in the construction industry but also in engineering.

The paper deals with the description of contemporary methodology of topography evaluation of surfaces created by the abrasive water jet by using the existing standard and non-standard parameters in combination with an autocorrelation function. The grid projection method was used for measurement of samples prepared from stainless steel AISI 309 by abrasive water jet. The optical signals obtained by means of grid projection method of these surfaces were processed by Fourier transform and the norm autocorrelation function in order to get information about height and longitudinal fluctuations. The obtained results are analysed and interpreted. U ovom radu je opisana suvremena metodologija topografske evaluacije površina, koje su nastale abrazivnim vodenim mlazom, korištenjem standardnih i ne-standardnih parametara u kombinaciji s funkcijom autokorelacije. Metoda projekcije mreže je korištena za mjerenje uzoraka pripremljenih od nehrđajućeg čelika AISI 309 pomoću abrazivnog vodenog mlaza. Optički signali dobiveni pomoću metode projekcije mreže ovih površina su obrađeni pomoću Fourier pretvorbe i funkcije autokorelacije norme kako bi se dobile informacije o fluktuacijama visine i duljine. The relationship between the elimination constant of gentamicin and the percentage of functioning nephrons in rats cannot be characterized by a simple linear relation. The results support the assumption that gentamicin elimination per residual nephron increased.

With the steady development of online education and online learning environments, possibilities to support social interactions between students have advanced significantly. This study examined the relationship between indicators of social presence and academic performance. Social presence is defined as students' ability to engage socially with an online learning community. The results of a multiple regression analysis showed that certain indicators of social presence were significant predictors of final grades in a master's level computer science online course. Moreover, the study also revealed that teaching presence moderated the association between social presence and academic performance, indicating that a course design that increased the level of meaningful interactions between students had a significant impact on the development of social presence, and thus could positively affect students' academic performance. This is especially important in situations when discussions are introduced to promote the development of learning outcomes assessed in courses. Another implication of our results is that indicators of social presence can be used for early detection of students at risk of failing a course. Findings inform research and practice in the emerging field of learning analytics by prompting the opportunities to offer actionable insights into the reasons why certain students are lagging behind.
