The main contribution of this thesis is to assess the importance of economic fundamentals in affecting the nominal exchange rate behaviour for a sample of industrialised and emerging market economies. Industrialised and emerging markets differ in terms of economic stability conditions that may affect distinctly he performance of traditional exchange rate models. The thesis consists of investigating the effects of three interrelated determinants on the exchange rate variability which are examined from the early 1980s until the early 2000s: the effect of monetary fundamentals, the effect of rational speculative bubbles and the effect of foreign debt. Firstly, we test the monetary model for both types of market economies by making use of panel techniques that allow for a high degree of heterogeneity across countries. We find partial support for the monetary model for industrialised market economies but not for emerging ones. This constitutes a puzzle as we would expect countries with greater monetary instability to show a stronger association between exchange rates and monetary fundamentals. Secondly, we test for the presence of a rational speculative bubble driving the stochastic process of exchange rates away from the equilibrium level defined by monetary fundamentals. Our findings reveal that the hypothesis of periodically collapsing bubbles driving the exchange rate away from the fundamentals solution cannot be accepted for a sample of four industrialised market economy countries. Moreover, the results also revealed significant non-linearities and different regimes. The importance of these findings suggests that linear monetary models may not be appropriate to examine exchange rate movements. Finally, we investigate the effects of foreign debts on nominal exchange rate volatility for a sample of industrialised and emerging market economies where the level of foreign indebtedness and the access to international credit markets differ substantially. We also test for the use of monetary policy and international reserves to stabilise potential exchange rate volatility. Our findings confirm that foreign debts do generate effects on exchange rate volatility in both types of market economies, with more significant impacts on financially fragile economies (emerging markets). The results also revealed that monetary authority interventions in the foreign exchange market are a common practice in both categories of economies. The importance of these findings commends government authorities to keep foreign debt at levels consistent with macroeconomic stability.

Introduction. Cannabis-based edibles have become a lucrative and in-demand market. Despite not being legalized in Brazil, marijuana is found in oral preparations illegally marketed in the country and the search for these products has grown in recent years. The present study aims to gather data from the scientific literature on the physiology of the endocannabinoid system, effects of oral cannabis consumption, pharmacokinetics, possible toxic and therapeutic effects and ways of detection, seeking to contribute to filling the gap that still exists on the theme. Methodology. An integrative review was carried out in the PubMed database for publications of the last 5 years in Portuguese, English and Spanish. Results. The search resulted in 128 articles from which the works that did not meet the inclusion criteria were removed, leaving 28 articles used. Conclusions. It is necessary to carry out a greater number of clinical trials with oral cannabis, in the various existing formulations, to better understand its pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, therapeutic potential and its adverse effects. Introducción. Los comestibles a base de cannabis se han convertido en un mercado lucrativo y en demanda. A pesar de no estar legalizada en Brasil, la marihuana se encuentra en preparaciones orales comercializadas ilegalmente en el país y la búsqueda de estos productos ha crecido en los últimos años. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo recopilar datos de la literatura científica sobre la fisiología del sistema endocannabinoide, efectos del consumo oral de cannabis, farmacocinética, posibles efectos tóxicos y terapéuticos y formas de detección, buscando contribuir a llenar el vacío que aún existe sobre el tema. Metodología. Se realizó una revisión integradora en la base de datos PubMed para publicaciones de los últimos 5 años en portugués, inglés y español. Resultados. La búsqueda resultó en 128 artículos de los cuales se eliminaron los trabajos que no cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión, quedando 28 artículos utilizados. Conclusiones. Es necesario realizar un mayor número de ensayos clínicos con cannabis oral, en las distintas formulaciones existentes, para conocer mejor su farmacocinética, farmacodinamia, potencial terapéutico y sus efectos adversos. Apesar de no Brasil não ser legalizada, a maconha é encontrada em preparações orais comercializadas ilegalmente no país e a busca por esses produtos tem crescido nos últimos anos. O presente estudo tem por finalidade reunir dados da literatura científica sobre a fisiologia do sistema endocanabinóide, efeitos do consumo de Cânabis por via oral, farmacocinética, possíveis efeitos tóxicos, terapêuticos e formas de detecção, buscando contribuir para o preenchimento da lacuna ainda existente sobre o tema. Apresenta um quadro evolutivo da principal legislação constitucional e infraconstitucional sobre a duração do trabalho, mostrando a estrutura básica da jornada pátria e os pontos de flexibilidade nela existentes, com a identificação dos principais entendimentos jurisprudenciais sobre matérias polêmicas relacionadas ao tema, que causaram disputas judiciais entre trabalhadores e empregadores, especialmente na conturbada década que encerra o século XX.Também aborda a história da jornada de trabalho, as diferenciações de outros tempos de trabalho, os diversos tipos de limitações da jornada, sua regulamentação internacional, o debate sobre a flexibilização do tempo de trabalho nos países de capitalismo avançado, apresentando um estudo comparado sobre a regulação pública da jornada de trabalho na França. The research also deals with the history of the daily working time, the differentiation relative to other working times, its main kind of limitations, the international regulation and the debate about the flexible working time in advanced capitalist countries, presenting a comparative study about the working time public regulation in France. Foram selecionados os dados de precipitação pluviométrica máxima de um dia, de 343 postos pluviométricos do Estado de São Paulo, operados pelo DAEE, com séries históricas completas de 31 anos, todas iniciando em 1962 e terminando em 1992. As estimativas de probabilidade de ocorrência de eventos máximos de intensidade de precipitação pluviométrica foram calculadas pela metodologia proposta por GUMBEL(1958), baseada numa distribuição de fteqüência conhecida com o Tipo I de Fischer- Tippett a dois parâmetros. A partir dos níveis máximos de intensidade de chuva de um dia, foram feitas as desagregações de chuvas de intensidade máxima em 24 horas e em 30 minutos, segundo a metodologia proposta por OCCHIPINTI E SANTOS(1966). Com base nos níveis de precipitação máxima em 30 minutos foram calculados os índices de erosividade EI30 mensais para cada uma das 343 localidades. Os dados foram interpolados para gerar 12 mapas mensais dos níveis de intensidade máxima de precipitação em 24 horas e 12 mapas mensais de erosividade. Também foram gerados mapas dos níveis máximos de erosividade da estação chuvosa, da estação seca e dos totais anuais da erosividade no Estado de São Paulo. Os resultados dos cálculos dos níveis mensais de probabilidade de chuva de intensidade máxima foram submetidos à análise de componentes principais (ACP), com a vantagem da redução do número de variáveis de 12 para 4, sem perda de informações.Os resultados da ACP mostraram que os quatro primeiros Componentes Principais (ACP) conseguem reter cerca de 76% das informações acumuladas das variáveis originais. Os mapas mensais de precipitação máxima foram obtidos por meio das técnicas de georeferenciação, interpolação e reclassificação do Sistema de Informação Geográfica disponíveis no Idrisi.2. Com vistas ao uso em terraceamento, cada mapa foi reclassificado em intervalos de classe de 10 mm de chuva. Finalmente, com base nos parâmetros e da distribuição de Gumbel e no período de retorno T, foram desenvolvidas equações mensais de estimativas de chuva de intensidade máxima em 24 horas e de erosividade EI30, para cada uma das 343 localidades no Estado, disponibilizadas em software de aplicação prática. Os resultados obtidos das chuvas interpoladas no mRISI 2.0, pelo método do inverso do quadrado da distância mostraram-se eficazes, permitindo obter intervalos de chuva máxima de 24 horas de até um milímetro em qualquer localidade do Estado de São Paulo. Com isto, os mapas mensais de chuva máxima mostram versatilidade para aplicações dimensionamento de bacias de contenção de águas pluviais, canais de escoamento para terraços, além de auxiliar em projetos de construção de pontes, barragens, vertedores e estradas. O programa desenvolvido permite, além dos níveis máximos de chuva em 24 horas em qualquer período de retorno, obter estimativas de erosividade máxima mensal para qualquer localidade do Estado de São Paulo, de aplicação em engenharia e mais especificamente em estudos de combate a erosão e espaçamento entre terraços Abstract: The objective of this work was to generate monthly maps of maximum intensity rains in 24 hours and of erosivity for the State of São Paulo, using monthly data of precipitation of maximum intensity of one day. The data of rain maximum in one day, of 343 were selected rain gage post of the State of São Paulo, operated by DAEE, with complete historical series 31 years old, alI beginning in 1962 and finishing in 1992. The estimates of probability of occurrence of maximum events of intensity of rain were calculated by the methodology proposed by GUMBEL(l958), based on a distribution of known frequency with the Tipo I of Fischer Tippett to two parameters. Starting ITom the maximum levels of intensity of rain of one day, they were made the disaggregations of rains of maximum intensity in 24 hours and in 30 minutes, according to the methodology proposed by OCClllPINTI & SANTOS(1966). With base in the levels of maximum precipitation in 30 minutes the erosivity indexes were calculated monthly EI30 for each one ofthe 343 places. The data were interpolated to generate 12 monthly maps of the levels of maximum intensity of precipitation in 24 hours and 12 monthly maps of erosivity. Maps of the maximum levels of erosivity of the rainy station were also generated, of the station it evaporates and of the annual totais of the erosivity in the State of São Paulo. The results of the calculations of the monthly levels of probability of rain of maximum intensity were submitted to the analysis of main components (ACP), with the advantage of the reduction ofthe number ofvariables of 12 for 4, without loss ofinformation. The results of ACP showed that the first four Main Components (ACP) they get to retain about 76% of the accumulated information of the original variables. The monthly maps of maximum precipitation were obtained through the georefferentiation techniques, interpolation and reclassification of the System of Geographical Information available in Idrisi.2. With views to the use in terracement, each map was reclassified in intervals of class of 10 mm rain. Finally, with base in the parameters and of the distribution of Gumbel and in the retum period T, monthly equations of estimates of rain of maximum intensity were developed in 24 hours and of erosivity EI30, for each one of the 343 places in the State, available in software of practical application. The obtained results ofthe rains interpolated in rnRISI 2.0, for the method ofthe nverse of the square of the distance they were shown effective, allowing to obtain intervals of maximum rain of24 hours ofto a millimeter in any place ofthe State of São Paulo. With this, the monthly maps of maximum rain show versatility for applications in planning of basins of contention of pluvial waters, drainage channels for terraces, besides aiding in projects of construction of bridges, barrages, overflow sistems and roads. Trabalho Final do Mestrado Integrado em Medicina apresentado à Faculdade de Medicina IntroductionShoulder is a joint with a high use in certain sports, with or without contact. Therefore, lesions in this joint are very frequent during sports practice and the success of the treatment is fundamental so the return to play could be as soon as possible and with the level of play closer as possible as the pre-injury level. The goal of this study is to analyse the return to play acordding to the surgical procedures. Materials and methodsA systematic review of the literature according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines was performed. A comprehensive search of the PubMed using various combinations of the keywords “shoulder,” “instability,” “anterior,” “athletes,” “surgery,” “return to play,” over the years 2010 to 2020 was performed.ResultsThe literature search resulted in a total of 146 bibliographic references, of which 15 articles were selected for the study. A total of 1163 shoulders from 1158 patients were included, of which 1128 are athletes. A total of 842 (81.91%) of the athletes were able to RTP. 73.4% of athletes who returned to sport did so at the same level and 7.15% athletes suffered at least one recurrence after surgery. The Rowe score was assessed in 8 studies (69.5 to 95.6/100); the WOSI score was assessed in 8 articles; the VAS was assessed in 7 articles (0.0 to 1.4/10); and the ASES score was assessed in 4 articles (87.9 to 92.0/100).ConclusionBoth surgical approaches (open versus arthroscopic) proved to be good approaches in the treatment of shoulder instability. However, the arthroscopic approach showed better results in terms of returning to the same level of sport before the injury, whereas the open Latarjet approach showed a lower recurrence rate. Introdução O ombro é uma articulação com elevada utilização em certos desportos, tanto em desportos com como sem contacto. Por isto, as lesões nesta articulação, nomeadamente a instabilidade anterior, são frequentes durante a prática desportiva sendo fundamental o sucesso do tratamento para que se regresse à atividade desportiva o mais precocemente possível e com o nível de desempenho mais próximo possível do nível anterior à lesão. O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar o regresso à prática desportiva após luxação anterior do ombro de acordo com os procedimentos cirúrgicos utilizados. Materiais e MétodosFoi realizada uma revisão sistemática da literatura de acordo com as guidelines Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). Foi realizada uma pesquisa abrangente na base de dados PubMed usando várias combinações das palavras “Shoulder”, “Instability”, “Anterior”, “Athletes”, “Surgery” e “Return to Play” entre os anos 2010 e 2020.ResultadosA pesquisa de literatura resultou num total de 146 referências bibliográficas, dos quais foram selecionados para o estudo 15 artigos. Foram incluídos um total de 1163 ombros de 1158 doentes, sendo que 1128 destes são atletas. No total 842 (81,91%) dos atletas foram capazes de RTP. 73,4% dos atletas que regressaram ao desporto fizeram-no ao mesmo nível e 7,15% atletas sofreram pelo menos uma recorrência após a cirurgia. No entanto, a abordagem artroscópica revelou melhores resultados ao nível do regresso ao mesmo nível de deporto antes da lesão, ao passo que a abordagem aberta de Latarjet demonstrou uma menor taxa de recorrências.

In a context in which conscious development proves to be more and more necessary, the financial profitability of projects with technological and environmental efficiency is highlighted and is seen as a determining factor for growth. With that in mind, the use of energy originated by the sun, both as a source of heat and light, is conducive to supply all the energy in terms of electricity. Therefore, this research aims to develop a technical economic and financial feasibility study for the implementation of a photovoltaic system in a Private Higher Education Unit in Cajazeiras - PB. For this purpose, this research is a case study, exploratory and descriptive with a quantitative approach. The results showed that the term for the return on investment is 3.8 years and that it is expected that there will be savings of approximately R $ 2,753,000.00 over the next 25 years, which makes the installation of the system quite attractive. Thus, it is evident the benefit that the use of alternative sources can bring both to organizations and to the environment, benefiting the population as a whole. Brazil has enormous potential on the subject, which is solar energy and it can certainly be better explored by all segments of Brazilian / global industry / commerce. En un contexto en el que el desarrollo consciente resulta cada vez más necesario, se destaca la rentabilidad financiera de proyectos con eficiencia tecnológica y ambiental y se vislumbra como un factor determinante para el crecimiento. Teniendo esto en cuenta, el uso de la energía originada por el sol, tanto como fuente de calor como de luz, es propicia para suministrar toda la energía en términos de electricidad. Por tanto, esta investigación tiene como objetivo desarrollar un estudio de viabilidad técnica y económica para la implementación de un sistema fotovoltaico en una Unidad Privada de Educación Superior en Cajazeiras - PB. Para ello, esta investigación es un estudio de caso, exploratorio y descriptivo con enfoque cuantitativo. Los resultados mostraron que el período de retorno de la inversión es de 3,8 años y que se espera un ahorro de aproximadamente R $ 2.753.000,00 en los próximos 25 años, lo que hace bastante atractiva la instalación del sistema. Así, es evidente el beneficio que el uso de fuentes alternativas puede traer tanto a las organizaciones como al medio ambiente, beneficiando a la población en su conjunto. Brasil tiene un enorme potencial en el tema, que es la energía solar y ciertamente puede ser mejor explorado por todos los segmentos de la industria / comercio brasileño / global. Em um contexto em que o desenvolvimento consciente se mostra cada dia mais necessário, a rentabilidade financeira de projetos com eficiência tecnológica e ambiental ganha destaque, e é vista como fator determinante para o crescimento. Pensando nisso, o aproveitamento da energia originada pelo sol, tanto enquanto fonte de calor como de luz, é propicio para fornecer toda a energia em termos de eletricidade. Assim sendo, essa pesquisa tem como objetivo desenvolver um estudo de viabilidade técnica econômico-financeira de implantação de um sistema fotovoltaico em uma Unidade de Ensino Superior Particular em Cajazeiras – PB. Para tanto a presente pesquisa trata-se de um estudo de caso, exploratório e descritivo de abordagem quantitativa. Os resultados mostraram que o prazo para o retorno de investimento está em 3,8 anos e que se espera que haja uma economia de cerca de R$ 2.753.000,00 nos próximos 25 anos, o que torna a instalação do sistema bastante atrativa. Sendo assim, é evidente o benefício que a utilização das fontes alternativas pode trazer tanto para as organizações, quanto ao meio ambiente, beneficiando a população como um todo. O Brasil tem um enorme potencial quanto o assunto, que é energia solar e com certeza pode ser mais bem explorada por todos segmentos da indústria/comércio brasileiro e mundial.

BackgroundTuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a rare multisystem autosomal dominant disorder caused by pathogenic variants in either theTSC1orTSC2gene. Common manifestations of TSC have been grouped into major and minor clinical diagnostic criteria and assessed in clinical routine workup. However, case studies point towards the existence of rare disease manifestations and to the potential association of TSC with malignant tumors. In this study we sought to characterize rare manifestations and malignancies using a large cohort of patients.MethodsTuberOus SClerosis registry to increAse disease awareness (TOSCA) is a multicenter, international disease registry collecting clinical manifestations and characteristics of patients with TSC, both retrospectively and prospectively. We report rates and characteristics of rare manifestations and malignancies in patients with TSC who had enrolled in the TOSCA registry. We also examined these manifestations by age, sex, and genotype (TSC1orTSC2).ResultsOverall, 2211 patients with TSC were enrolled in the study. Rare manifestations were reported in 382 (17.3%) study participants and malignancies in 65 (2.9%). Of these rare manifestations, the most frequent were bone sclerotic foci (39.5%), scoliosis (23%), thyroid adenoma (5.5%), adrenal angiomyolipoma (4.5%), hemihypertrophy and pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNET; both 3.1%). These rare manifestations were more commonly observed in adults than children (66.2% vs. 22.7%), in females versus males (58.4% vs. 41.6%; except for scoliosis: 48.9% vs. 51.1%), and in those withTSC2versusTSC1(67.0% vs. 21.1%; except for thyroid adenoma: 42.9% vs. 57.1%). In the 65 individuals with reported malignancies, the most common were renal cell carcinoma (47.7%), followed by breast (10.8%) and thyroid cancer (9.2%). Although malignancies were more common in adult patients, 26.1% were reported in children and 63.1% in individuals TSC1mutations were over-represented in individuals with malignancies compared to the overall TOSCA cohort (32.1% vs. 18.5%).ConclusionRare manifestations were observed in a significant proportion of individuals with TSC. We recommend further examination of rare manifestations in TSC. Collectively, malignancies were infrequent findings in our cohort. However, compared to the general population, malignant tumors occurred earlier in age and some tumor types were more common.

Background: Epilepsy is the most common neurological manifestation in individuals with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC). However, real-world evidence on diagnosis and treatment patterns is limited. Here, we present data from TuberOus Sclerosis registry to increase disease Awareness (TOSCA) on changes in patterns of epilepsy diagnosis, treatments, and outcomes over time, and detailed epilepsy characteristics from the epilepsy substudy. Methods: TuberOus Sclerosis registry to increase disease Awareness (TOSCA) was a multicentre, international disease registry, consisting of a main study that collected data on overall diagnostic characteristics and associated clinical features, and six substudies focusing on specific TSC manifestations. The epilepsy substudy investigated detailed epilepsy characteristics and their correlation to genotype and intelligence quotient (IQ). Results: Epilepsy was reported in 85% of participants, more commonly in younger individuals (67.8% in 1970s to 91.8% in last decade), while rate of treatments was similar across ages (>93% for both infantile spasms and focal seizures, except prior to 1960). Vigabatrin (VGB) was the most commonly used antiepileptic drugs (AEDs). Individuals with infantile spasms showed a higher treatment response over time with lower usage of steroids. Individuals with focal seizures reported similar rates of drug resistance (32.5-43.3%). Use of vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), ketogenic diet, and surgery remained low. Discussion: The epilepsy substudy included 162 individuals from nine countries. At epilepsy onset, most individuals with infantile spasms (73.2%) and focal seizures (74.5%) received monotherapies. Vigabatrin was first-line treatment in 45% of individuals with infantile spasms. Changes in initial AEDs were commonly reported due to inadequate efficacy. TSC1 mutations were associated with less severe epilepsy phenotypes and more individuals with normal IQ. In individuals with TSC diagnosis before seizure onset, electroencephalogram (EEG) was performed prior to seizures in only 12.5 and 25% of subsequent infantile spasms and focal seizures, respectively. Conclusions: Our study confirms the high prevalence of epilepsy in TSC individuals and less severe phenotypes with TSC1 mutations. Vigabatrin improved the outcome of infantile spasms and should be used as first-line treatment. There is, however, still a need for improving therapies in focal seizures. Electroencephalogram follow-up prior to seizure-onset should be promoted for all infants with TSC in order to facilitate preventive or early treatment.

This paper discusses the use of the learning analytics that are commonly available to teachers in general, but particularly to the academic staff at the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN). The importance of the information provided by the tools that are normally used for teaching and learning activities is discussed, and supporting data are presented for a specific course: CS4110 Hardware/Software Codesign of Embedded Systems.

Adaptive recommender systems are increasingly showing their importance as profiling is a dynamic problem. Their goal is to update recommendation models as new interactions take place, thus swiftly adapting to drifts in the user’s behavior and desires, and item’s audience. However, existing recommendation algorithms usually do not perform well during drifts, as they take long to adapt to changes, or these updates are suboptimal since they account for all profiles’ preferences equally, which is often untrue as each individual and its changes are unique. In this paper, we propose the ADADRIFT algorithm to deal with user and item-based drifts in adaptive recommender systems using personalized learning rates based on profile statistics. The experiments using stream-based recommender systems (ISGD and BRISMF) across four different datasets show that ADADRIFT surpasses ADADELTA with significant improvements in recommendation rates. The best results appear when the data streams have a long history of the users’ or items’ interactions and drifts become noticeable. The experimentation in this work highlight the importance of handling drifts in recommender systems.

The present work aims to assist High School Physics teachers by producing a Didactic Sequence using alternative materials for the study of Diffraction of Light, which is sometimes little addressed by the Physics books selected by the National High School Textbook Program, and it is mentioned within the wave teaching of the second year of high school, sometimes in a less comprehensive way. On the other hand, the choice of building a Didactic Sequence was due to its own identification with the teaching approach and its application started with a questionnaire, then the development of a Concept Map to assess and level the previous knowledge. necessary for the development of the theme, then a class was applied through dialogue and exposure of the Diffraction theme and after this action, a presentation of works was developed, while the evaluation was carried out during its stages of execution and finally, a satisfaction survey to assess the methodology used during the application of the Didactic Sequence. The proposal described in this work is based on the principles of Significant Learning by David Ausubel and Critical Significant Learning by Marco Antonio Moreira culminating in: assembly and application of experiments in diffraction of light by a hair; diffraction net with discarded CD; production of posters and video recording using cell phone as an aid in teaching-learning in Diffraction. The application of research and development of the experiments was carried out with students from two third year classes in a high school, located in São Luís, capital of the State of Maranhão. For the collection of analytical data, the use of tests and annotations of records on the application of the work was considered. The quantitative and qualitative results obtained have guaranteed us some success in meaningful learning. The acceptance of the Didactic Sequence obtained good results during qualitative evaluation since the teaching approach constituted a different modality in the transmission of the content. Para alunos do ensino médio “Física é difícil”, e quando tratada sem contexto e clareza passa despercebido para o aluno a beleza da ciência. O presente trabalho visa Auxiliar professores do Ensino Médio de Física produzindo uma Sequência Didática utilizando materiais alternativos para estudo da Difração da Luz, que as vezes é pouco abordada pelos livros de Física selecionados pelo Programa Nacional do Livro Didático para o Ensino Médio, sendo que é citada dentro do ensino de ondulatória do segundo ano do Ensino Médio, as vezes de maneira pouco abrangente. Por outro lado, a escolha de construção de uma Sequência Didática deveu-se a uma identificação própria com a abordagem de ensino e iniciou-se sua aplicação com um questionário, em seguida, o desenvolvimento de um Mapa Conceitual para avaliar e nivelar os conhecimentos prévios necessários para o desenvolvimento do tema, depois aplicou-se aula através de diálogo e exposição do tema Difração e após esta ação, desenvolveu-se apresentação de trabalhos, enquanto efetivava-se a avaliação durante suas etapas de execução e por fim efetuou-se uma pesquisa de satisfação para apreciação da metodologia utilizada durante a aplicação da Sequência Didática. A proposta descrita nesse trabalho fundamenta-se nos princípios da Aprendizagem Significativa de David Ausubel e Aprendizagem Significativa Crítica de Marco Antonio Moreira com culminância em: montagem e aplicação de experimentos em difração da luz por um fio de cabelo; rede de difração com CD descartado; produção de cartazes e gravação de vídeo utilizando celular como auxilio no ensino-aprendizagem em Difração. A aplicação da pesquisa e desenvolvimento dos experimentos realizou-se com alunos de duas turmas de terceiro ano em uma escola de Ensino Médio, situada em São Luís, capital do Estado do Maranhão. Para a coleta de dados analíticos, considerou-se a utilização de testes e anotações de registros sobre a aplicação do trabalho. Os resultados quantitativos e qualitativos obtidos nos garantiram algum êxito na aprendizagem significativa. A aceitação da Sequência Didática obteve bons resultados durante avaliação qualitativa uma vez que a abordagem do ensino constituiu uma modalidade diferente na transmissão do conteúdo.

A research based on the qualitative approach was conducted, from the following problem question: How has the inclusion of a student with high skills/giftedness at a riverside school in the city of Mazagao in the state of Amapa been taking place? The study aimed to analyze the inclusion process of students with high skills/giftedness from the 1st to the 5th grade of elementary School. The locus of the research was a riverside school located in the municipality of Mazagao in the state of Amapa. For data collection, semi-structured interviews, observation and photographic recording were performed. The participants of this research were a teacher of the student's class with high skills/giftedness, a teacher of specialized educational attendance, a student with high skills/giftedness, a pedagogical coordinator and the school principal. The collected data was analyzed from the definition of the Aprioristic Category: school inclusion, as well as other intermediate categories and final categories that, in the case, are the non-aprioristic ones that emerged from the theoretical framework adopted in the research and Empirical research. As a result, this study brings significant theoretical and practical contributions to the process of inclusion of students with high skills/giftedness in this riverside School in the Amapa's Amazon. The results showed that there are difficulties in the process of inclusion of this public related to various aspects such as the formation of teachers and of the entire school team, infrastructure, the organization of classrooms, among others, as well as, demonstrate the importance of research in this universe to strengthen theoretical-practical questions related to inclusion. Patients with TSC may suffer from a wide range of clinical manifestations; however, the burden of TSC and its impact on healthcare resources needed for its management remain unknown. Besides, the use of resources might vary across countries depending on the country-specific clinical practice. The aim of this paper is to describe the use of TSC-related resources and treatment paterns within the TOSCA registry. A total of 2,214 patients with TSC from 31 countries were enrolled and had a follow-up of up to 5 years. A search was conducted to identify the variables containing both medical and non-medical resource use information within TOSCA. This search was performed both at the level of the core project as well as at the level of the research projects on epilepsy, subependymal giant cell astrocytoma (SEGA), lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM), and renal angiomyolipoma (rAML) taking into account the timepoints of the study, age groups, and countries. Data from the quality of life (QoL) research project were analyzed by type of visit and age at enrollment. Treatments varied greatly depending on the clinical manifestation, timepoint in the study, and age groups. GAB Aergics were the most prescribed drugs for epilepsy, and mTOR inhibitors are dramatically replacing surgery in patients with SEGA, despite corrent recommendations proposing both treatment options.mTOR inhibitors are also becoming common treatments in rAML and LAMpatients. Forty-two out of the 143 patients (29.4%) who participated in the QoL research project reported inpatient stays over the last year. Data from non-medical resource use showed the critical impact of TSC on job status and capacity. Disability allowances were more common in children than adults (51.1% vs 38.2%). There is minimal information on SEGA evolution in adults with TSC. Of 2,211 patients enrolled in TOSCA, 220 of the 803 adults (27.4%) ever had a SEGA. Of 186 patients with SEGA still ongoing in adulthood, 153 (82.3%) remained asymptomatic, and 33 (17.7%) were reported to ever have developed symptoms related to SEGA growth. SEGA growth since the previous scan was reported in 39 of the 186 adults (21%) with ongoing SEGA. All but one patient with growing SEGA had mutations in TSC2. Fourteen adults (2.4%) were newly diagnosed with SEGA during follow-up, and majority had mutations in TSC2. Our findings suggest that surveillance for new or growing SEGA is warranted also in adulthood, particularly in patients with mutations in TSC2. The study was funded by Novartis Pharma AG.

Background Renal angiomyolipoma occurs at a high frequency in patients with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) and is associated with potentially life-threatening complications. Despite this frequency and severity, there are no large population-based cohort studies. Here we present baseline and follow-up data of the international TuberOus SClerosis registry to increase disease Awareness (TOSCA) with an aim to provide detailed clinical characteristics of renal angiomyolipoma among patients with TSC. Methods Patients of any age with a documented clinic visit for TSC within 12 months or who were newly diagnosed with TSC before participation in the registry were eligible. Data specific to renal angiomyolipoma included physical tumour characteristics (multiple, bilateral, lesion size and growing lesions), clinical signs and symptoms, and management. The effects of age, gender and genotype on the prevalence of renal angiomyolipoma were also evaluated. Results Renal angiomyolipoma was reported in 51.8% of patients at baseline, with higher frequency in female patients (57.8% versus 42.2%). The median age at diagnosis was 12 years. Prevalence of angiomyolipoma was higher in patients with TSC2 compared with TSC1 mutations (59.2% versus 33.3%, P3cm in 34.3% of patients. Most patients were asymptomatic (82%). Frequently reported angiomyolipoma-related symptoms included bleeding, pain, elevated blood pressure and impaired renal function. Embolization and mammalian target of rapamycin inhibitors were the two most common treatment modalities. Conclusions The TOSCA registry highlights the burden of renal angiomyolipoma in patients with TSC and shows that renal manifestations are initially asymptomatic and are influenced by gender and genotype. Furthermore, the occurrence of significant problems from angiomyolipoma in a minority of younger patients suggests that surveillance should begin in infancy or at initial diagnosis.

Background Most evidence for TSC-associated neuropsychiatric disorders (TAND) to date have come from small studies and case reports, and very little is known about TAND in adults. We explored baseline TAND data from the large-scale international TOSCA natural history study to compare childhood and adult patterns, describe age-based patterns, and explore genotype-TAND correlations. Results The study enrolled 2216 eligible participants with TSC from 170 sites across 31 countries at the data cut-off for the third interim analysis (data cut-off date: September 30, 2015). The most common behavioural problems (reported in > 10% of participants) were overactivity, sleep difficulties, impulsivity, anxiety, mood swings, severe aggression, depressed mood, self-injury, and obsessions. Psychiatric disorders included autism spectrum disorder (ASD, 21.1%), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD, 19.1%), anxiety disorder (9.7%), and depressive disorder (6.1%). Intelligence quotient (IQ) scores were available for 885 participants. Of these, 44.4% had normal IQ, while mild, moderate, severe, and profound degrees of intellectual disability (ID) were observed in 28.1, 15.1, 9.3, and 3.1%, respectively. The need to achieve sustainable development has led all nati-ons to search for a balance between growth and the protection of natural resources. The objective of this study was to analyze the knowledge of sustainability in fish farming activities in the southern Minas Gerais, Brazil. A total of 13 fish farmers from 9 municipalities, namely Aiuruoca, Alfenas, Alterosa, Campanha, Carvalhópolis, Lambari, Machado, Monsenhor Paulo, and Muzambinho par-took of the study. The results showed a high degree of concern of the fish farmers with the envi-ronment and the conservation of the natural resources within the limits of their properties. We veri-fied that fish farmers are aware of the risks of environmental impacts caused by aquaculture produc-tion and try to minimize the negative consequences of their economic exploitation. However, many of the interviewees have demonstrated only the intent and willingness to develop a strategic plan that contemplates effective actions to achieve a sustainable business, reinforcing the need for a grea-ter investment and a more expansive supply of qualified human resources capable of providing bal-ance to the sustainability complex of the fish farming sector. O cultivo de pescado tem aumentado nos últimos anos no Brasil, principalmente, em função do elevado potencial da atividade na produção de uma fonte de proteínas com baixo custo. A necessidade de atingir um desenvolvimento sustentável tem levado as nações a buscarem um equilíbrio entre o crescimento e a proteção dos recursos naturais. Objetivou-se, com este estudo,analisar o conhecimento sobre a sustentabilidade nas atividades de piscicultura no Sul de Minas Gerais. Participaram da pesquisa13 piscicultores de 9 municípios no Sul de Minas Gerais a saber: Aiuruoca, Alfenas, Alterosa, Campanha, Carvalhópolis, Lambari, Machado, Monsenhor Paulo e Muzambinho. Os resultados apresentaram elevado grau de preocupação dos piscultorescom o meio ambiente e com a conservação dos recursos naturais nos limites em suas propriedades.Foi possível constatar que os piscicultores estão cientes dos riscos de impactos ambientais ocasionados pela produção aquícola, com preocupação para tentar minimizar as consequências negativas de sua exploração econômica.Contudo, muitos dos entrevistados demonstraram ficar apenas na intenção e vontade dequerer desenvolver um planejamento estratégico, que contemple ações efetivas para que seus empreendimentos sejam realmente sustentáveis, o que reforça a necessidade de maiores investimentos e ampla oferta de recursos humanos qualificados, capaz de proporcionar sinais de equilíbrio ao complexo de sustentabilidade do setor produtivo em piscicultura.

Summary Objectives Alexithymia is a personality trait characterized by difficulties in identifying, describing and communicating one's own emotions. Recent studies have associated specific effects of this trait and its subfactors with hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis markers during stress. The aim of this study was to analyze the association between alexithymia and its subfactors with HPA and sympatho-adrenal medullar (SAM) activity. Stress was induced experimentally using a public-speaking paradigm. Salivary cortisol, alpha-amylase (AA), chromogranin A (CgA) and heart rate (HR) were collected during the defined periods of baseline, stress, and recovery in 19 males and 24 female healthy university students. Results Subjects reacted to the stressor with a significant cortisol and SAM response. Subjects scoring high on alexithymia reacted significantly more intensely than low scorers in basal anticipatory as well as peak cortisol and area under the curve. Regression analyses revealed that the increased HPA activity was related to only one alexithymia subfactor, the difficulty in differentiating feelings and distinguishing them from bodily sensations and emotion arousal. Conclusion Alexithymia and its subfactors were specifically related to cortisol responses. This research should be replicated with more subjects and should take into account more parameters reflecting sympathetic and/or parasympathetic activation, as well as HPA axis. Factors such as coping strategies and the perception of the situation as a challenge have also to be explored.

The present work seeks to evaluate the role of statistical classifiers based on sociodemographic data, anthropometric measurements and adverse health outcomes for identifying frail individuals. Three classifiers were considered: Logistic Regression, Random Forest and Support Vector Machines. The best results were obtained with Logistic Regression models based solely on 3 predictors, which reached an area under the curve [0.80, 0.85], specificity [75%, 81%] and sensitivity [80%, 86%]. These models display a promising role as a brief and easy screening tool for Frail Syndrome and should be further assessed, notably by external validation.

Os sistemas de informação aplicados ao planejamento urbano permitem uma melhor gestão do território, por meio da espacialização das unidades componentes e visualização de suas inter-relações. O objetivo deste trabalho foi desenvolver um sistema de informações das áreas de atuação do Programa Social e Ambiental dos Igarapés de Manaus - PROSAMIM-1 que auxiliasse o seu dimensionamento no município de Manaus-AM. O PROSAMIM-1 representa um dos projetos de ação ambiental mais significativos dos últimos 50 anos executados na cidade de Manaus, cujo impacto deve ser publicamente disseminado, permitindo assim a maior interação social do projeto. O sistema de informações projetado também tem a função de atuar como um repositório para o registro de sua evolução histórica. A metodologia empregada é associada a uma pesquisa aplicada, com a sistematização das informações do projeto, oriundas das bases e registros produzidos pelos órgãos responsáveis e sua estruturação em um mecanismo de consulta e pesquisa georreferenciado via web. O produto gerado possibilitou a localização visual das áreas do PROSAMIM-1 e a proposição de ações que auxiliem o planejamento urbano e estratégico das áreas do entorno., Information systems applied to urban planning allow better territory management, through the composing units' spatial distribution and a view of their interrelation. The aim of this study was to develop an information system of the areas of the Social and Environmental Program and Streams of Manaus - PROSAMIM-1 that could help its sizing in Manaus-AM. The PROSAMIM-1 is one of the most significant environmental project over the last 50 years executed in the Manaus city, and its impact should be publicly disseminated, thus allowing greater social interaction design. The information system designed also has the function of acting as a repository for the registration of its historical evolution. The methodology is associated with applied research, with the systematization of project information, derived bases and records produced by the responsible organs and its organization in a consultative mechanism and georeferenced web search. The product created enabled the visual location of PROSAMIM-1 areas and propose actions to assist the strategic and urban planning on its surrounding areas.

Objective: to understand the knowledge and actions of the nursing team about humanized care in a Neonatal Intensive Care Center. Methods: qualitative research carried out with 14 nurses and 20 nursing technicians working in a public institution. Semi-structured interview and content analysis were applied. Results: three thematic categories emerged: Humanized care to the newborn; Welcoming the newborn’s family and Promotion of the neonatal environment. The work of the Nursing team showed they have technical-scientific knowledge, humanized skills and attitudes that provided the recovery of the newborn’s health, minimized the stressors in the neonatal environment, as well as fostered family relationships and establishment of bond during the process of taking care. Conclusion: the acquisition of knowledge about humanized care implied a greater commitment, sensitivity and zeal in the art of taking care, emphasizing, above all, actions of comfort, newborn safety, welcoming to the family and attention in the ambience. Objetivo: compreender conhecimentos e ações da equipe de enfermagem acerca do cuidado humanizado em Centro de Terapia Intensiva Neonatal. Métodos: pesquisa qualitativa, realizada com 14 enfermeiros e 20 técnicos de enfermagem atuantes em uma instituição pública. Aplicou-se entrevista semiestruturada com análise de conteúdo. Resultados: emergiram três categorias temáticas: Atenção humanizada ao recém-nascido; Acolhimento à família do recém-nascido e Promoção da ambiência neonatal. A atuação da equipe de Enfermagem demonstrou conhecimento técnico-científico, habilidades e atitudes humanizadas que proporcionaram a recuperação da saúde do recém-nascido, minimizaram os fatores estressantes no ambiente neonatal, além de promover acolhimento aos familiares e o estabelecimento do vínculo durante o processo de cuidar. Conclusão: a aquisição dos conhecimentos acerca do cuidado humanizado implicou maior comprometimento, sensibilidade e zelo na arte de cuidar, destacando, sobretudo, ações de conforto, segurança do recém-nascido, acolhimento à família e atenção na ambiência.

Solid niobium oxide treated with phosphoric acid (NbP) was used as a heterogeneous catalyst in the protection of a series of aliphatic alcohols as tetrahydropyranyl (THP) derivatives. Protection of primary alcohols using this material with strong Bronsted acid sites was achieved in good yields (75%-94%), while moderate values were obtained in the protection of secondary and tertiary alcohols (50%-84%), largely dependent on the steric hindrance in the proximity of the hydroxyl moiety. Fraser syndrome is an autosomal recessive congenital malformation syndrome characterized by cryptophthalmos, synclactyly, and urogenital defects. We studied the clinical features in 59 affected individuals from 40 families (25 consanguineous), and compared our findings to data from previous reviews. We found a higher frequency of abnormalities of the skull, larynx, umbilicus, urinary tract, and anus in our series of patients, and mental retardation and cleft lip with or without cleft palate were observed less frequently than previously reported. Clinical features in probands and sibs were remarkably similar. As can be expected prenatally diagnosed patients had more manifestations that gave rise to a pathological amount of amniotic fluid. Otherwise patients diagnosed before and after birth had similar frequencies of symptoms. Based on the present results we suggest an adaptation of diagnostic criteria for FS, including adding airway tract and urinary tract anomalies as major criteria. OBJECTIVE: to characterize the epidemiological profile of patients undergoing hip replacement, primary or revisional. METHODS: we conducted a retrospective, descriptive study, including hip arthroplasties performed from January 2009 to June 2012 in a Belo Horizonte teaching hospital, Minas Gerais State - MG, Brazil. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. RESULTS: orthopedic procedures represented 45% of the operations at the hospital in the period, 1.4% hip arthroplasties. There were 125 hip replacements, 85 total, 27 partial and 13 reviews. Among the patients, 40% were male and 60% were female. Age ranged between 20 and 102 years, mean and median of 73 and 76 years, respectively. The most frequent diagnosis (82%) was femoral neck fracture by low-energy trauma caused by falling form standing position. In 13 revision operations, 12 required removal of the prosthesis. The infectious complication led to revision in 54% of the time, followed by dislocation (15%), peri-prosthetic fracture (15%) and aseptic loosening (15%). The infection etiologic agent was identified in 43% of occasions. The average length of the prosthesis to a revision operation was eight months. CONCLUSION: patients undergoing hip arthroplasty are elderly, with femoral neck fracture caused by falling form standing position, affecting more women. The incidence of hip prosthesis loosening was 10%. The main cause of the infection was loosening. The incidence of revisional hip arthroplasty was 10% and the incidence of hospital mortality in patients undergoing hip arthroplasty was 7.2%. MÉTODOS: estudo retrospectivo, descritivo, incluindo artroplastias do quadril realizadas no período de janeiro/2009 a junho/2012 em hospital de ensino de Belo Horizonte, MG. Os dados foram analisados por estatística descritiva. RESULTADOS: as operações ortopédicas correspondem a 45% das realizadas no Hospital e 1,4% à artroplastias do quadril. No período, foram realizadas 125 artroplastias do quadril, sendo 85 totais, 27 parciais e 13 revisões. Dentre os pacientes, 40% pertenciam ao sexo masculino e 60%, ao feminino. A idade variou entre 20 e 102 anos, com média e mediana de 73 e 76 anos. O diagnóstico mais frequente (82%) foi fratura de colo de fêmur por trauma de baixa energia causado por queda da própria altura. Em 13 operações de revisão, 12 necessitaram a remoção da prótese. A complicação infecciosa motivou a revisão em 54% das ocasiões, seguida de luxação (15%), fratura periprótese (15%) e soltura asséptica (15%). O agente etiológico de infecção foi identificado em 43% das ocasiões. O tempo médio de prótese até a operação de revisão foi oito meses. CONCLUSÃO: os pacientes submetidos à artroplastia do quadril são idosos, com fratura de colo fêmur, causada por queda da própria altura, que acometeu mais as mulheres. A incidência de soltura de prótese do quadril foi 10%. A principal causa de soltura foi a infecção. A incidência de revisão cirúrgica de artroplastia do quadril foi 10% e a incidência de mortalidade hospitalar nos pacientes submetidos à artroplastia do quadril foi 7,2%.

The present work is an amalgamation of computation and experimental approach to gain an insight into composition-structure-bioactivity relationships of alkali-free bioactive glasses in the CaO-MgO-SiO2-P2O5 system. The glasses have been designed in the diopside (CaO center dot MgO center dot 2SiO(2); Di)-tricalcium phosphate (3CaO center dot P2O5; TCP) binary join by varying the Di/TCP ratio. The melt-quenched glasses have been investigated for their structure by molecular dynamic (MD) simulations as well as by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR). In all the investigated glasses silicate and phosphate components are dominated by Q(2) (Si) and Q(0) (P) species, respectively. The apatite forming ability of the glasses was investigated using X-ray diffraction (XRD), infrared spectroscopy after immersion of glass powders in simulated body fluid (SBF) for time durations varying between 1 h and 14 days, while their chemical degradation has been studied in Tris-HCl in accordance with ISO 10993-14. All the investigated glasses showed good bioactivity without any substantial variation. A significant statistical increase in metabolic activity of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) when compared to the control was observed for Di-60 and Di-70 glass compositions under both basal and osteogenic conditions. OBJETIVO: Avaliar o comportamento da oxigenação e da mecânica ventilatória em pacientes com suporte ventilatório após a realização de hemodiálise. MÉTODOS: Estudo realizado na unidade de terapia intensiva geral de um hospital público terciário. Foram incluídos pacientes maiores de 18 anos, sob ventilação mecânica, com necessidade de suporte dialítico. Cada paciente foi submetido a duas avaliações (pré e pós-diálise) referentes a parâmetros cardiovasculares e ventilatórios, mecânica ventilatória e avaliação laboratorial. RESULTADOS: Foram incluídos 80 pacientes com insuficiência renal aguda e crônica. A análise da mecânica ventilatória demonstrou que houve redução da pressão de platô e aumento da complacência estática, após diálise, independentemente da redução da volemia. Pacientes com insuficiência renal aguda também apresentaram redução da pressão de pico (p=0,024) e aumento da complacência dinâmica (p=0,026), enquanto pacientes com insuficiência renal crônica apresentaram aumento da pressão resistiva (p=0,046) e da resistência do sistema respiratório (p=0,044). No grupo de pacientes sem perda volêmica, após diálise, observou-se aumento da pressão resistiva (p=0,010) e da resistência do sistema respiratório (p=0,020), enquanto no grupo com perda >2.000mL observou-se redução da pressão de pico (p=0,027). Não houve alteração na PaO2 e nem na relação PaO2/FiO2. CONCLUSÃO: A hemodiálise foi capaz de alterar a mecânica do sistema respiratório, especificamente reduzindo a pressão de platô e aumentando a complacência estática, independente da redução da volemia. OBJECTIVE: To assess the oxygenation behavior and ventilatory mechanics after hemodialysis in patients under ventilatory support. METHODS: The present study was performed in the general intensive care unit of a tertiary public hospital. Patients over 18 years of age under mechanical ventilation and in need of dialysis support were included. Each patient was submitted to 2 evaluations (pre- and post-dialysis) regarding the cardiovascular and ventilatory parameters, the ventilatory mechanics and a laboratory evaluation. RESULTS: Eighty patients with acute or chronic renal failure were included. The analysis of the ventilatory mechanics revealed a reduction in the plateau pressure and an increased static compliance after dialysis that was independent of a reduction in blood volume. The patients with acute renal failure also exhibited a reduction in peak pressure (p=0.024) and an increase in the dynamic compliance (p=0.026), whereas the patients with chronic renal failure exhibited an increase in the resistive pressure (p=0.046) and in the resistance of the respiratory system (p=0.044). The group of patients with no loss of blood volume after dialysis exhibited an increase in the resistive pressure (p=0.010) and in the resistance of the respiratory system (p=0.020), whereas the group with a loss of blood volume >2,000mL exhibited a reduction in the peak pressure (p=0.027). No changes in the partial pressure of oxygen in arterial blood (PaO2) or in the PaO2/the fraction of inspired oxygen (PaO2/FiO2) ratio were observed. CONCLUSION: Hemodialysis was able to alter the mechanics of the respiratory system and specifically reduced the plateau pressure and increased the static compliance independent of a reduction in blood volume.

O presente trabalho traça um panorama da produção de artigos acadêmicos sobre o ensino de ecologia com o intuito de analisar seus temas de pesquisa. Foram analisados os trabalhos publicados entre 2003 e 2011 em periódicos da área de ensino de ciências. O procedimento metodológico foi fundamentado em referenciais de estudos inventariantes do tipo "estado da arte" a partir dos bancos de dados ISI-WEB. SCIELO e ERIC utilizando as palavras-chave Ensino, Ecologia e Biologia. Como resultado encontramos 71 artigos dos quais apenas 22 foram utilizados para a presente pesquisa por apresentarem a versão completa. A partir desses resultados conclui-se que esta área apresenta uma concentração de trabalhos com focos em conteúdos e métodos de ensino.

International audience; The sintering behaviour of an alkali-free bioactive glass with its chemical composition corresponding to 80 wt.% diopside (CaMgSi2O6)-20 wt.% fluorapatite [Ca-5(PO4)(3)F] has been reported in this article. Glass powders with different particle size distributions and mean particle sizes varying between 14 mu m and 220 mu m were used. The influence of particle size variation on sintering ability of glass powders was studied by using an array of complementary advanced characterization techniques including in situ high temperature scanning electron microscopy (HT-SEM), differential thermal analysis (DTA), hot stage microscopy (HSM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The obtained results have been discussed with their implications on the development of glass-ceramic scaffolds for bone tissue engineering. Glass-ceramics consisting of dense glassy matrix with embedded diopside and fluorapatite crystals were obtained after sintering the glass powder compacts at 850 degrees C for 1 h.
